Once again, I delve into Beatles songs and explain what John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo starr actually mean in their songs, when they use quaint and often odd British phrases, words and sayings. They can be confusing for non Brits. Also if you like what I'm doing why not buy me a coffee, its something to help the channel to run. A few quid means I can purchase new equipme...

Around Hamburg in the footsteps of The Beatles.
Переглядів 2705 місяців тому
Have you ever wondered what Hamburg Germany must have been like back in the 1960s? Before The Beatles made it big, this was their work, home, and playground. But what remains of their time there? 60 plus years later, I go in their footsteps and discover The Beatles, Hamburg.
A lost Paul McCartney and Wings album with Andrew Brooks

Yes here is another lost or forgotten Wings album. When I say lost or forgotten I am referring to the fact that many people (fans and non fans) are unaware that these albums made up of Wings members actually exist. So here is Denny Laine's 1977 album Holly Days made with a little help from his friends, Paul McCartney and his wife Linda McCartney.

Don't you just hate it when you start collecting something and it stops before you can complete the full set? Well did you know that Paul McCartney has tried to launch an album collection no less than 4 times since 1990s, three of them have all failed to be a complete collection and we will see what happens with the forth. Check out these incomplete album collections, how many do you have?

What would a solo Beatles rock 'n' roll album be like with Andrew Brooks
Переглядів 6939 місяців тому
We've had a Beatles rock 'n' roll album. We have had a few individual Beatles rock 'n' roll albums. But what would an album be like made up of the solo Beatles Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr tracks covering their favourite rock track from their youth. Find out which 12 tracks made my cut of a solo Beatles rock 'n' roll album.

So here we have the 50th anniversary of Band on the Run. A Paul McCartney and Wings album from 1973. However here's a twist they have released an underdubbed version. What does underdubbed mean, what did I think of it. Watch on and find out.
Why this practically forgotten Beatles album is a must for all fans & collectors with Andrew Brooks

This 1999 Yellow Submarine Song track album featured some fantastic sounding remixes of Beatles material way before Peter Jackson's MAL software was invented. I take a look at the history of the original 60's album plus why this 1999 supersedes it and is now a must for all Beatles fans and collectors.

Great review with lots of information I seen this on Ebay and seen your video thinking about picking this up on Ebay and this sounds great it's available on CD and vinyl very good price 5cd box and 8 vinyl box with good song selection! Thanks for review!
Not officially available on CD. LP and cassette were the only official options
Thanks for this , I have the set bought used about 20 Years ago . Havent played it for almost as long . I copied down Your comments about the different Mix's etc on a piece of paper and added it to the Box as a reference for future listening . Thanks Again .
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Very cool how you find these great .music
Pretty sure the reissue is on amazon
The jimi hendrix bio had no hendrix music either
The height of John ruins it for me, why didn't they just give him shoe lifts or something? Also there's no darkness in his character in this film, it's all quips and sunshine, only one side of him. Glaring errors
Any negative comments about the movie relate to the physical attributes of the Beatles or the lack of actual Beatles songs. But this is a biopic of Brian Epstein NOT The Beatles. It is an excellent movie with an excellent cast and some outstanding performances. I thought it was a fantastic movie.
Still pushing the Beatles fairy story! It was planned from the start for social engineering. And - it worked!
Where can it be seen, Netflix ?
As I said in the video Amazon Prime (UK), not sure about rest of the world.
No You've got to hide your love away as they obviously had no permission to play Beatles songs, all songs in it were their cover versions
As I said in the review.
It is only fanon that this song is about Brian.
Terrible casting except Epi, Pete and George Martin
This actor does not look like Brian at all. Not at all.
i went into this with some trepidation...i can honestly say its absolutely brilliant, ignore all the little inconsistencies, i kept me riveted from minute one...i implore everyone to watch this...ITS FAB !
I was lucky enough to stay in Liverpool for 2 nights. I was invited to the Gala Premiere :) Fine and charming performances all around! ❤
Clapton works best when he's in a band. I don't like much of his solo material. Something is missing (no pun intended at all). Brainwashed is my favorite track on the album. I love the Indian Coda at the end I love Taxman therefore I love Brainwashed for the same reasons. We are All Brainwashed by Cellphones! We are All Guilty of Bullshite! I hope you both are not on Social Media. Or are you? Everyone else are.😓
did you delete my comments??? i was EDUCATING people buddy! tellinem stuff they don't TEACH'IN SCHOOLS!
Well on my Amazon Prime here in the U.S., when I typed in "MIDAS MAN" it said "NOT AVAILABLE to be seen in your AREA" WHY is that? Is it never going to be available to be seen in the U.S.? If that is the case, it probably won't be on DVD here either. UK DVDs don't play on our players.
Sorry I'm in the UK so can't help you
I want to see it too, I’m in the US.
Maybe a VPN would help.
Really? I thought the actors playing the Fabs were horrendous, including the circus dwarf they cast as Lennon lol
Agree & it was too easy to pull apart the inaccuracies .
I thought it was very good, makes me want a proper Beatles biopic now
Can't wait to pay good money to watch another not even passable resemblance to a Beatle do a Beatle cliche "well for starters, I don't like your tie" line in a Beatles related bio-pic with no Beatles music - sounds like money not well spent and time well wasted. (At least Pete Best might get some quid thrown his way for using his likeness?).
Beatles songs are crazy expensive to buy the rights to! The average Beatles song costs 250,000$ That's half the films budget!
......hang on !, there isn't any Beatles recordings in this film?!!!!!!!, you've got to be joking 😣
I mean, I can live with that. But the guy playing Lennon being too short is just a joke..
@@georgerodrigues4638 Paul has criticized Beatle biopics in the past for making John "too tall"... who can blame the casting directors for not trying to push one of Paul's millions of buttons. Hahaha! Just kiddin' round! Paul isn't that easy to piss off, he's a sweetie pie, which I guess is why he's so insecure about being belittled... He didn't cry once when his mother died, same goes for John's death! All claims made by sir McCartney himself! Ahh I don't get his problem with looking 00000000.1% more inferior.. petty, reeeeeeeeaaaal petty!!! Maybe it's cause he's always told he looks "feminine", guess that takes a toll on a bloke! So to speak, McCartney mustn't be inherently "misogynistic" oh no! He would never! That'd be ridiculous! Ahh but perhaps his comparisons to Angela Lansbury shifted him away from the feminine look he rocked in his early days.. Ah, twill be missed, indeed. Hmm, beard grown and all, but since his "manly" phase he has taken on the feminine form of Martha Stewart.. Ah he looks sweeter and more feminine then ever! That's what we love about McCartney, his admirable feminine looks...
You might want to watch “Nowhere Boy” and “Backbeat” before you see this one.
It was okay but I wished they had used Beatles songs. It’s great they had Gerry and the pacemakers and Cilla Black. But you don’t really understand why the Beatles are so incredible and blow Brian away at the cavern in 1961. Also I thought it was pretty mean how they make the merchandising fiasco Clive’s his brothers fault. When the evidence is pretty overwhelming it was Brian’s stuff up. Also according to Geoff Emrick the Beatles were ferocious at Brian when he told them about the “Our world “ broadcast in 1967. But here they just smile and nod when he gives them the news. And the Yellow Submarine movie was not very well received by the band. They thought it was going to be crap. Yet here it’s presented at Brian Epstein’s idea ! So historically it’s not entirely accurate.
They did not use any Beatles songs because the right to buy a Beatles song is almost as expensive as the film budget! The average Beatles song costs 250,000$ to buy the rights to.. ridiculous eh? such a rich band of the richest musicians, known internationally.. Always writing songs about greedy rich men, hypocritical if ya'ask me.
The saddest thing about the Beatles is watching their fans getting progressively old and decrepit....ever seen an OF chick fangirling over a Brian Epstein biopic? The good news: John Lennon will never look older than 40.
Makes NO sense to have a short John. He was the band leader…and I’m a very short guy!
It's totally ludicrous. I mean, they could have at least fixed that with some AI trickery or lifts in his shoes.
Jonah is 5’8 the other actors are 6’3 The original director Jonas Akerlund had plans for clever angles etc A couple of years later after production issues they just had to concentrate on the essences of the people being portrayed and they capture that in bucket loads I think
@@blanchehudson1717 J P & G were 5'11". Ridiculous to have a short J.
Yes, now we have AI, no need for stilts.
@@spaceengineer1452 That's a myth hungover from the early beatles PR releases. Paul was tallest at 5'10" and John & George 5'9". They looked taller in their Beatle boots though.
I went to a special screening of Midas Man on 7th October 2024 at Curzon Cinema Mayfair London. An outstanding movie and outstanding performance by Jacob Fortune Lloyd as Brian. A must see movie to watch!!
you will have fun. it will be "groovy" as the beatles say.. trust thou groove I yeild upon thou. Yes, the fun is the now.
That's right chris
Glad you enjoyed the film, cant wait to see it next week. The cavern was purpose built in a warehouse. The shop fronts were filmed in blackpool and some scenes shots in liverpool. I agree about your comment about lennon being short.. Thanks to good ol' freda as she was sent a script for approval and she gave her memories too, to help with the story/ script Shame all you need is love wasn't used, but i guess thats 🍏 wanting mega bucks for it or not wanting to be part of this film, which is quite sad.
Shame Freda didn’t tell them how to pronounce Epstein
Prime from 2. November i Denmark and maybe other countries.
Shame they couldn't have used some tasteful instrumental versions of Beatle songs as the incidental music.
Thanks for your review. I can’t wait to watch it. Birth of the Beatles is also in Prime if you want buy or rent it.
Good to know!
This one is classic better than bsckbeat more complete
Birth of the Beatles is not too bad, but the instruments are wrong (apart from Macca's basss, they always get that right) and Lennon looks slightly too old. But he's the right height.
I wouldn’t worry about the guitars. It’s the story they never get right. But it is an enjoyable little film. But the film makers asked Pete Best for help with making BOTB. But you can see all the wrong things in it. As most Beatles biopics.
Thanks for review I saw the movie last month in local cinema in New Zealand and loved it.
I am glad that you thoroughly enjoyed it in New Zealand!! Did you leave a review on Midas Man IMDb, if not please do :)
That’s great Andrew I didn’t know this was coming out
I was most fortunate to secure a copy of Sgt. Pepper on r2r earlier this year for about $35 US. My one and only Beatles' r2r so far. This was in a second hand antiques/thrift store. It's been my experience here in the US that r2r tapes are extremely hard to find in stores. And if you do come across one it's surely not likely to be something desirable like the Beatles. Most r2r are found on eBay and selling for $$$. They do sound fantastic. Oh how I wish I had a time machine so i could go back and snatch up some Apple stocks and Beatles' r2r's. 😊✌️
A time machine would be great. A trip to Hamburg 1961, 8 hours of Beatles playing rock and roll.
By the time I started buying Beatles CDs in the mid nineties , the long boxes were being phased out, but I managed to keep a couple of anthology boxes (2&3) They replaced the cardboard boxes with plastic cases that had to be unlocked after you bought them. Cassettes also had them. I don’t know how collectible the Apple ones are, but the earliest 💿 didn’t have the Apple logo, because the company was on hiatus or something. It wasn’t until maybe ‘92 that the 🍏 was on the artwork.
Hi Andrew, Did U say the Super deluxe Box Set has 2 posters? Cheers Martin
From looking at the pre release photo on amazon
I hope your right, but I was never thinking the big box has Posters, I hope I'm wrong???
Great !
I can’t wait !
Great idea for the video but I do have one question so the miscellaneous albums do you keep them with the Wilburys collection thanks
My record collection is in chronological order, so there are not different sections for different artists, just years. In fact down to the release date (if I can find it). Thanks for watching
Great Video. I love this type of vidoes.
Thanks for watching.
I have a Canadian 7" copy, and indeed, Yellow Submarine is on the green apple A-side, and Thingumybob is on the split apple B-side (I think the one shows in the video is a U.S. copy). As well, the matrix numbers in the runout grooves indicate the same thing, with Yellow Submarine ending in 414 and Thingumybob ending in 415. The same goes for copies of the single released in Japan, Portugal, Mexico and the U.S. (although on Discogs, they have Thingumybob listed as the A-side, when it's clearly the B-side, just like in Canada). I guess someone decided that the name recognition of Yellow Submarine, perhaps in connection with the movie of the same name, was a better bet for a single.
Overrated but not forgotten. Walls & Bridges is underrated and somewhat forgotten. But No Lennon album is really forgotten.
In these days of re-packaging and over-hype, how can ANYTHING by the beatles be construed as forgotten or underrated. IMO The use of the term 'underrated'... Is highly overrated.
Sorry to say that but very bad sound quality plus background music that makes it even harder to hear the spoken word
I don’t like at all this album. It’s sad, bored, always the same. I’m not a fun of Harrison. The only one that I’d like it is ‘George Harrison’ of 1979.
If U don't like the Album and George, I have to ask what are U doing here???
I have mixed feelings about Double Fantasy because I do believe Yoko tracks are almost a waste of time while John’s songs are great. The Stripped Down version is okay. I think is something you need to be in the mood for. Btw Starting Over was a ascending hit in America 🇺🇸 I remember buy the 45 before he died
Good news.Have ordered 2cd edition.
cloud 9 cd box was reportet should come out in june 2024 never came
I don’t own any George Harrison albums. His spirituality turns me off. What can I say, I'm opinionated. [Edit: I listed to the whole album on UA-cam & didn't care for it at all. It's full of religious imagery, including GIVE ME LOVE.] I love his Beatles output completely.
REVOLVER didn’t come with blu-ray disc, ABBEY ROAD did.
Yes that's why I have never heard as I said in the video
@@AndrewBrooks - I'm sorry, I misheard you. I don't even have a surround sound system.
I was collecting the two disc versions of the archive sets but didnt bother with "Flaming Pie" after the disappointment of "Flowers in the Dirt" (how could they failed to leave one of his greatest b sides "Flying to My Home" from it). Shame since I, like everyone else was anticipating "London Town" and "Back to the Egg". I'm glad I never got rid of my "McCartney Collection"
I's from July 1973, not 1974.
