My music teacher was the conductor of Black Dyke Mills Band and I got an invite to this! Roy Newsome kept in touch with Paul and then Sir Paul and the band often played music written by Lennon and McCartney and still do! Great video which brought back some incredible memories.To show how famous and 'important' Black Dyke Band is/was, Andre Previn visited them, worked with them for a few hours and wrote them a piece which was premiered at the Proms. I met 'Andrew Preview' and we actually discussed the Morecambe and Wise sketch which I think had been filmed just a few weeks before. The last time I was in Saltaire Mill, I saw David Hockney and Alan Bennett! The place attracts the best it seems! Thanks for this!

Reel tape could sound good as CD, but they tried to cut costs. So they used 3 ¾ ips and degraded the frequency response. Depending to the machine used for recording and playback it can record up to 15 kHz. About 7.5 ips, they never made the attempt to get higher frequencies than 18 kHz. A 8" reel can hold 540 m of tape, so it could store 45 minutes in half track stereo. But how they did pre recorded reel tapes, they remained in a niche. 8 track cartridges and compact cassettes could take over, because they are portable.

Thank you so much for this video - I actually watched it almost a year ago and I managed to find the Cassette version on Discogs for a really good price that night. The sound even on Cassette is very good for the most part - there’s a nice wide stereo image, the mid range and bass are clear and punchy, and while it’s not going to be quite as good as the Vinyl, I would say to anyone who wants this, if you can’t find a Vinyl set or it’s too expensive, go for a good condition Cassette set if you want to listen to The Beatles in a slightly more affordable analog version. I’m not disappointed at all. My only concern was with my tape deck being a bit temperamental, so I’m in the process of digitising the tapes into my Mac using Audacity, just in case! At least that way I can listen to the songs from the digital files and keep the tapes safe:) God-willing I’d like to pick up the Vinyl version one day, but this’ll more than do if I can’t. Found your channel today and subscribed, of course. I really liked the idea of having a song track only on the Yellow Submarine DVD so I took out my lovely package of the Blu ray version to have a listen to the songs, only to find that it isn't included. I will never understand how people at record companies and film studios think when they release and re-release items. Like you said, why no Blu ray audio in the Revolver set? Now I will enjoy more of your videos.

Great album,shame it's so short.Have had on vinyl since released and now very pleased to own on cd issued in France.Very simple,pleasant track list to listen to.Cant understand why anyone would not love this album.

Here's how the Beatles would have reunited, if they would have lived long enough...and it would have been at a concert. They would have shown up at one of Ringo's AllStar Band shows and gone on during an encore together. The key would have been they would not be "The Beatles" but just backing up Ringo for a song or two. Being the "Beatles" was just too much pressure to make a formal reunion possible. Backing Ringo would have made it possible. And the reason I think it would have happened is John and George would have found it funny. And Paul would have not wanted to be left out.

There wasnt any one thing that broke them up. But business tensions was the biggest factor in their mutual animosity. So bringing Allen Klein in to manage 3/4 of the band was the single greatest factor in splitting the band. They ultimately could not survive a management split. Yoko's omnipresence didnt help, mutual indifference to each other's new material didnt help, but the business tensions were the final straw.

Found this inexpensive years ago. Would have preferred Paul doing his own Holly Days album. Never cared for the production on this album.

I found a NM copy of this last year browsing in a record store in Vancouver. I brought it home to Sydney, played it once and filed it under “nice to have, but…” I always assumed it only exists because Paul owned the publishing.

Hi. My name is Eliot Wien from NYC. In the USA this album was released on Capitol Records. The label was on Paul McCartney's custom Black & Silver MPL/Capitol Records label (Capitol ST 11588). There were 2 singles from this album with the same Black & Silver labels. The 1st single was It's So Easy/Listen To Me b/w I'm looking for someone to love (Capitol 4340) , and the 2nd single was Moondreams b/w Heartbeat (Capitol 4425). There's videos for both these singles on UA-cam. There was also a CD released in France Magic/MPL 3930035). I had the pleasure of seeing Paul McCartney perform with the Crickets at a Buddy Holly Birthday Celebration at Roseland in New York City that Paul and Linda put together. Paul McCartney & The Crickets performed RAVE ON.

I had Denny sign my copy of Holly Day's, he looked shocked lol Steve Holley was at the same gig and he signed it as well even though he did not appear on the album but he did tell me that he was a distant cousin of Buddy's.

Took me a long time to find this album. It's a good, homemade sounding record featuring some of Buddy Holly's less famous songs.

I have this on vinyl, it's dreadful.

Hi Andrew, I don't think the McCartney Archive Collection has been finished, actually when McCartney toured Australia in October last year the tour program had an advertisement saying that there were more Archive Collection planned in the future. Now, I have got a feeling that the Archive Collection and the 50th Anniversary Half Speed Master collection will be combined. When the Flaming Pie Archive Collection was released the Vinyl version was released as a Half Speed Master. I also believe that this year's Band On The Run 50th Anniversary Half Speed Master with the Underdubbed mix and the soon to be released One Hand Clapping Vinyl LP/CD sets was/is an Archive Collection release without it being advertised as such as when Paul released the original Band On The Run Archive Collection release was an experimental release with not much extra material compare with other Archive Collection releases. It is in my opinion that the next combined Archive Collection/50th Anniversary Half Speed Master release will be London Town in 2028 as I believe it will be pointless releasing an Archive Collection vinyl release with a Half Speed Master LP only for it to be released as a 50th Anniversary Half Speed Master a couple of years later. The only albums I could see being released before then would be Off The Ground, Tripping The Live Fantastic (live) album or any of the post Flaming Pie studio/live album releases.

My OCD kicked in as the sets are all numbered and The White Album and Yellow Submarine came out before MMT and the Past Masters releases pre dated the 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 releases. I have a very early numbered Yellow Submarine, number 16, and my Let It Be set is numbered 1970 which is quite cool as it is the release year of the film and album.

I brought the McCartney Collection when I was starting on my Paul journey I would not of been aware of what was missing at the time, so to me it was just fabulous . I dont buy everything he has released , I dont like McCartney 1970 , Wild Life and McCartney 3 and the Classical Music .

It seemed like his songs had a more new wave feel to them. DF songs were a little slower. I liked both albums.

Andrew aren't you forgetting that McCartney 3 is due more variants by the end of 2024 as i,m sure not all the colours of the rainbow are available yet

I loved the Paul McCartney Collection from 1993... Being a Harrison fan, I thought that "All The Best" and "Unplugged" were the only Paul albums I needed!! But time proved me wrong and I gradually got the entirety of the set... That was a successful series in my opinion.... All the studio albums were there, good sound quality, most of them with bonus tracks and booklets replicating the original inners. My only two complaints were the omission of bonus tracks from "Tug Of War" and the ultimate whiteness of the back covers!! Trivia: In my country (Greece), the "Band On The Run" reissue from this batch also came out on Vinyl....

Good video I didn’t know much about his archive I don’t understand why he would not do Back to the egg because there must be a lot of stuff that could be released.

If you had your choose one of those failed collections to continue, which one would it be. I think I would like the deluxe box sets. Even if it is just London Town and Back to the egg.

I don't think the McCartney 1971-73 was so expencive. I think I gave DDK 2700, ~310£, ~335$ I guy in the Beatles facebook group showed a picture of the 3 black dot album, 12 colored, 1 special white, 3 three-colored, 4 double albums of the McGreedy III and 6 double albums of the Imagined. I Think Paul releases a new album at the end of the Year

Hey Andrew Great video. I remember when the 4 live albums came out here in the USA THEY WERE marketing them as live album releases which is true except for the Russian album that had a lot of us scratching our heads. I wonder where is the rest of the live albums to go with that first 4??? Anyway it does stink that they start and then stop or delay the release of these Albums. I have a few of the cds from 1993. And a few from the archive release. Thanks for the video take care.

London Town snd Back to the Egg on invisible vinyl

Never understood the logic of leaving Rainclouds and I'll Give You a Ring off the Tug of War reissue. Similar story with leaving Ode to a Koala Bear off Pipes of Peace. Fast forward to the McCartney Years video collection, which is missing Only Love Remains and the Driving Rain videos. And now we have a seemingly abandoned Archive Collection. It would be generous to call it incompetence. So what is it? Expediency? Malice? Pity the Paul completist.

CLICKBAIT.....its not an unknown and it doesn’t come under the unknown wings catagory. Its Mike McCartney. Just becayse the songs were written by Paul, produced by Paul and played by most of wings, its not wings.

....finally , the reason I thought I WOULD get the LP autographed was that I'd uploaded a dozen or so videos featuring Mike on my Beatles UA-cam channel...including his 1990 vhs video 'Alternate' Liverpool one which lasted an hour....but I've blocked them now, seeing as he blocked ME !!!!!!!!!!

...have you seen the Spanish tv show in which Mike sings 2 songs from the LP ? Mike was 80 years old on January 7th...but spent it in HOSPITAL due to more heart surgery trouble.

...Paul was annoyed that Mike didn't have any kind of provisions to generate cash as an income , following the demise of The Scaffold ....although they released The Leaving Of Liverpool in 1975. SO, Paul told Mike he had a few leftover WINGS tracks and suggested he joins them at Strawberry Studios in Stockport for a while. It contained a couple of tracks I like....but the sweeping generalisations and daft comments below are a bit silly as there's rubbish on the LP too ! Fans can 'chat' to Mike on Twitter ...however he's BLOCKED me for daring to ask him for an autograph saying 'McGear' on the LP I own , as he wants money first I think....or buy his £700 Genesis book maybe !? SO, I've bought autographs from e-bay now .

I always thought this was a very under rated album. Giving Grease A Ride and The Man Who Found God On The Moon are classics.

This is not a Wings album, nor is it a McCartney brothers record. It's an album by Mike McGear, with Wings as his back up band. I bought this record when it was first released after reading in a Rolling Stone review that McGear covered Sea Breezes, by Roxy Music (massive Roxy fan, here). The cover of Sea Breezes was ok, but, overall, the album is nothing of note.
