    This tutorial SAVED me! The only other issue I ran into is my MAC was unable to connect to any WiFi network as if it was turned off thus I couldn’t complete Boot Camp on the first run. I had to connect Ethernet direct from router to MAC and then I was able to finish the installer for Boot Camp by going through folders on “This PC”. I can now access WiFi signals!

      Just skip the "connect to network" step during setup, and when the Boot Camp drivers automatically install on first boot, your WiFi will become active

    I have installed Windows on almost every Mac just for the versatility. It’s been pretty handy. For my kids who like the Mac but want to boot to Windows for games, it’s great on our travel laptop. My niece had to start working from home and I rebuilt her old MacBook Air so she could dual-boot for work software. (Her hard drive was dead, so I got a new one that was more accommodating for the space requirements of dual booting.) If a family member or friend needs a temporary computer because their current one goes belly up, I usually have a spare to loan and it will run two common operating systems. I have gone through this process many times. The topic in this video was handled in a straightforward and accessible way.

    • @AdamPreset
      @AdamPreset 2 роки тому +4

      @@wencyjunelibot6997 I have one machine with a 46 GB Windows partition. With no extra software installed, I only usually have about 10 GB free. When Windows updates start to run, the space is consumed quickly and I have needed to have another spare USB drive around to plug in just to complete updates. So, if you allocate 64 GB, you are more likely to be able to install Windows updates and you might have a little room for other Windows software also.

    Watched this after i installed windows on a macbook pro 2012 retina by bootcamp, i stopped reading about all the errors people had to handle with, made a bootable usb stick with the most recent windows 10 version, fully updated catalina mac os and it worked like a charm. Touchpad is off course a different experience but it runs smooth as butter.

      yeah, it has to do with how old your device is (anything outside of these models need a usb:
      MacBook (all models)
      MacBook Air introduced in 2017 or later
      MacBook Pro introduced in 2015 or later
      iMac introduced in 2015 or later

    This video helped me a lot, thank you. I did however encounter two issues (to which I managed to resolve thanks to a few Google searches): 1) Wi-Fi did not automatically kick in because somehow Boot Camp installation did not activate the Wi-Fi Mac drivers, and as a consequence the installation was slow and clunky because Windows kept looking for the internet, and I did not have a cable to connect via ethernet. The drivers are available after the installation, and can be activated, the issue is how and when to get there (in my case it was about 9 hours of waiting); and 2) This video at 3:37 does not explain how to get to the install files for Boot Camp on Windows - the installer did not pop up automatically for me, so I needed to do a manual install. As a Mac guy who hasn't used Windows in decades, finding drivers and install files in Windows is a nightmare. But, again, nothing a Google search can't resolve. Thanks again.

    (MAKE SURE THIS GETS SEEN)
    (If possible PIN THIS)
    when I first tried this, I found that it needed a hard drive / usb drive* once I did this, it ran fine. UNTIL…
    When I did this all and got a usb drive, I was told that there was no bootable disc. If so you are not using a disc that can run the necessary partition table. I found that if you turn off the computer and hold Alt/Option until the bootable system menu appears, then you can select EFI BOOT and continue**
    I found that my usb drive was running a system that windows could not use to install WINDOWS 10. Windows needs a GPT DISK to install WINDOWS 10, not the MBR partition table I was using.
    Make sure you research this matter before using the tutorial.
    * 32GB worked for me, 8GB is not enough.
    ** make sure that you use EFI BOOT and not WINDOWS.

      Can you please help me? I honestly have no clue what to do past this point. For some reason, the flash drive keeps getting changed back to MBR. Not sure why that's happening to be honest. Honestly, I’ve been going at this for over 3 days now and I’m almost ready to give up. I don't understand why it's THIS hard to install Windows 10 on an older Mac. It almost feels not worth it to be honest. Anyways, if there’s anything you can do to help, I would greatly appreciate it. Believe me, I’ve already done a lot to try and help myself through this… After days of doing tons of research, reading dozens of articles online and watching countless UA-cam videos, I'm still struggling to get this done. Again, I would greatly appreciate your help with this matter! Thank you!

    Great helpful video! For those who are facing WiFi connection problems after installation, the following tips might help:
    1) Try installing the USA English version of Windows 10. (I had trouble with the UK English version.)
    2) I checked all three boxes, but the loading process took muuuuch longer than 10 minutes. At the beginning, it seemed like the loading process was stuck, but you just have to wait as long as it takes.
    3) In my case, the WiFi problem disappeared when Bootcamp was installed on Windows. (I couldn't install it for some reason in the UK English version, but in the USA English version, it ran automatically, and the WiFi issue was resolved.)

      Well you don't buy a Mac because you need windows . You buy a Mac for what it is. Beein able to switch back and forth is much better than having to complete boot the system separately 🤔. If you think otherwise Mac might not be the right solution for you. I don't say that just because I am an apple homie . But I sold thousands of mac's. Windows is like a swiss knife, you can do a lot but nothing works great . 90 % of my clients figure out after talking to me that they don't even need windows as most of the software they mention does run on Mac os by now. Or there is good alternatives.

    Been there, done that years ago… Window’s on my specked out 2015 Mac laptop absolutely sucks. The fans go crazy and I can’t stand using it on my Mac laptop which otherwise runs very quiet when running macOS. If you need both systems, you’re almost better off getting a cheap Windows laptop in addition to your Mac laptop or desktop. I also feel like Windows runs slow and is laggy on a Mac. My Mac laptop has a 1 TB hard drive, so I split it pretty much down the middle and it still sucks running Windows.

    • @TheLongIslanderYT
      @TheLongIslanderYT 2 роки тому +7

      Eh, I'm using it currently on my 2019 16" MacBook Pro and there's really no lag. Though I do agree the fans ramp up when on Windows. However, I never really care about that because I have headphones on while playing a game or talking to someone anyway (also that happens on macOS as well when doing similar tasks, and I much rather have a cool computer than a hot computer) lol. My opinion is I rather not have an additional laptop, but again, my opinion. Doing whatever works for your workflow should be the goal.

    Hey there friend, this is a great video. Straight to the point and simple to follow. I used this to install Windows on my Mac successfully. I needed Windows in order to install a VMWare virtual desktop for work. Windows works absolutely fine. However, once inside VMWare, there is considerable lag that I don't experience while using it on a regular PC. Would you happen to know any easy DIY solutions for this? Thank you

    Great explainer video regarding Boot Camp. But running Windows as a virtual machine allows running both Mac and Windows at the same time! And also permits the very handy sharing of data and files between Mac and Windows! So, how can you make a video about “how to run Windows on a Mac” and not also discuss the typically much superior way of doing so using VMware Fusion or Parallels (the latter of which also informally supports running Windows on M1 Silicon Macs)? That is a huge and horrific omission from an otherwise nice video. And not up to your usual very high standards. Your readers/viewers deserve better and more complete information in order to make informed decisions. So, how about appending to the video a few minutes regarding Fusion and Parallels? That would be great and a huge improvement. 😃

    • @jpdemer5
      @jpdemer5 2 роки тому +2

      I have installed Win11 on my M1 Mac using Parallels. Parallels itself walks you through the process. It seems to run just fine, but software choices for the ARM version of Windows are pretty limited at present (there is x86 emulation, but it's pathetically slow.)
      And, of course, Parallels itself has to be purchased. Microsoft, so far, hasn't hit me up for a license purchase, but it's not clear how long that free ride will last.

    Gents, long story short: to install windows on your mac os without DVD mindfucking : 0. Make sure you have enough space available on your HDD. 1. Download official Windows iso image and leave it on Desktop 2. The most important: get your USB stick and FORMAT IT on your mac as APFS. 3. Launch the boot camp and follow the instructions. P.S. Most people fail because they use their USB stick with NTFS or EXFAT file system.
