- At long last, Honda has come to market with a pure Sport Side-by-Side vehicle - the Honda Talon.
Honda built two different Talon models - the Talon 1000R and Talon 1000X. We had a chance get a little seat time in both of them. Here are our first impressions on the industry's newest Sport UTV.

It's going to be interesting for sure. I'm looking forward to more people reviewing this car. I think Honda still has some ways to go, but for their first try at a sport SxS I think it's pretty solid. I just want to know if the trans is going to hold up to abuse, seems like its counter-part, the Pioneer 1000, some people had issues with clutch packs. I guess only time will tell.
The 1000X in the whoops looks a lot like the original Maverick with 14-16 inches of travel. Dances around a bit just like the old Maverick.
I like the amount of rear storage.
But I didn't see much dash space for switches for lights, etc.
The nets are a waste of money. They will be gone before the first ride.
Hoping to see the same size wheels and tires front and rear, like Everyone in AZ is running. Disappointed with that.

So parallel twin unicam with DCT, this sounds like the Africa twin engine and trans setup. I'm curious to see how the DCT fares in the long run especially in the slow tight technical stuff.
That motor runs the Dakar rally. Tough as nails test tech.

Should be neck and neck by my math. Hp vs torque thingy. Pluse an extra gear. We shall see. But hell in the tights it's hard for any of them to outrun the rest.
Everyone that’s complaining how Honda is late, remember, Honda does what THEY want to. I’m sure this thing will be a great all around sxs. I want to see some time put on them and see what happens. Not to mention all the tunes, exhaust and turbos that people will try out
Time to get rid of the can am and grab one of these bad boys, hopefully they're reasonably affordable.

DCT drive the best ever I have a DCT Honda Africa twin and would never go back to shift.
The tires look too small for this machine...
No belt slip in the mud
Better cost around 12 Grand ,because to make it compete with the big dog X3 and Turbo S, it's going to take another 20 Grand in suspension tires and a turbo kit.
What a freaking disappointment, Honda. 😠
Again, look at the market and what sells the most.....it's not Terbah cars. They entered into the best selling category for a reason, SALES. Would you rather sell 500 Turbo cars at $30k or 5000 N/A cars at $20K? It's all about sales and money, if it werent....they wouldnt be in business. No attitude intended.

depends on your continent and country...! ask your honda dealer!
It is not up to a country or province in Canada. It is dependent on municipal bylaws for each town or city whether they are street legal

Better the municipality decides than a blanket ban province wide. I live in Northern Ontario where most towns allow both snowmobiles and ATV , Side by sides road access.

RZR = Speed + Crappy Reliability.
Honda = Not alot of Speed + Great Reliability.
Polaris = 41% of market, 1% of those have issues. Not really a big deal. All the rest have issue too..

@C-Bomb 104 hp is pretty fast in the woods.Still im postive honda will offer a turbo version of it its the logical future marketing move.
@@RideRedFred SO? People are dumb asses, it is not just Polaris that burns, but you hear more about them cause they own 41% of the market. There are 5 to 1 polaris over any other out there. Get a clue..
Who says not a lot of speed ? You can carry extra fire extinguisher or walk home from the Po PO or ride faster than you can walk in a reliable Honda?
I'll go out on a limb here, better then a YXZ, better than a WildcatXX. Not better than a Turbo S RZR or Mav X3.
X3 is top dog in my opinion. YXZ is great for its intended purpose. It’s just made more for desert than what we use SXS for in Tennessee

Man... not impressed at all! Been waiting for this thing, done alot of riding with Honda Pioneer 5's that I have been impressed with! but not impressed with this at all....

Very nice machine, but how can you tell this will be reliable? In 3 years we will know if it’s really reliable. I know it’s honda but......the new snowblower honda made since 2015 are now fucking crap compare to before or compare to yamaha snowblower and thier new car engine 1.5l turbo made in 2016-2017-2018 have fuel dilution problems, that’s a BIG trouble and they dont wanna do nothing about that (for now). So reliability? Time will tell, not this old guy lol
Come on @honda you guys can do better than this, you have to, Can am is dominating the market and you come out with an ingerior machine in this dog eat dog market? Recommend better suspension and more power!

Forgive me, but I dont get it. Is it because they didnt drop a $25k 180hp TERBA out of the gate? They would be shooting themselves in the foot! Look at the market sales.....RZR S/XP/Ranger and Maverick/Defender cars in the 110hp or less category dominate sales for both companies (what I read/saw in the 2017 sales report). The Turbo cars are a niche and are gaining slowly, but I dont think they will overtake the N/A market anytime soon. MOST buyers in the Performance SxS game buy cars BELOW the 20k price range. Thats the best selling segment by far. For Honda to jump in with 2 cars in that category out of the gate is a VERY smart business move. Ride it out for a year, fix the gremlins, THEN drop the hammer. Would you rather sell 500 cars at 25k or 5000 cars at 15k?
This is a ENTRY model you dumb fuck. Dont worry they will have a machine that will have more power on the dyno than your broken down Polaris.
Honda's late because they put all their time and Engineering something that's actually good.

here , ill give u a review " its great, go buy now." that sums up The weakest review ive ever seen, show the eng, explain the features, its a' first' lmpression opinion, dont cry, title didnt say ' in depth' review, honda Will be on top of this class in a few years, especially if they go bitd/ score, they play to WIN .
Out of the box lol, wtf! This machine is nothing special. Honda waited till everyone else had their machines out and being ridden and had all this extra time to see what works and what doesn't. Sure it should be better right outta the box duh c'mon people. This isn't rocket science on how these things should be built. It's a numbers game of how many pennies can we pinch to get these machines on the road as cheap as possible with some dependability, but not to much dependability mind ya. We need some reoccurring revenue to think of of course. So don't run out and buy this thing thinking its better or worse than the competitions because it will only be nominally different with a different brand name attached to it I believe. All the machines would be fun to play around with but in the end all the same experiences out of their perspective boxes until you do your own heavy modding wherein these machines start separating themselves from other machines no matter what brand they wear. Just my opinion of course and who am I to rock the fanboys boat.

Except they had the 400cc Pilot that nooooobody had anything back in the day. Let them get these machines out and the public add to them what they want. Watch and see. Honda will be one of the best in performance and reliability in the near future.

We can only see. I feel like Honda does not listen to what people want. They use to have an awesome small engine line and vehicles. Today their small engine market is loss to Chinese copies that last longer and cost 60% less. Oh yeah and puts out more HP too. The Honda Accord went from a very reliable car to a car that can’t hold a transmission over 90,000 miles. I hope they wake up again. Don’t know what ceo fucked up a good company but hers a true meaning of good gone bad.
