Echo Echo is probably my favorite new alien in Alien Force, because it's so genuinely creative. You don't tend to associate sonic powers and self cloning powers, but the name connects those perfectly.
I still think that the reason why Ben didn´t like "ship" (Julie´s alien pet) is because he still has the trauma of that time he got rejected by a girl that said that she only wanted to have him as an alien pet in the original series.

I interpreted it as some parental instinct bleeding out from big chill and influencing Ben, like how he was eating pickles, a really common craving for pregnant women.

It always felt out of character that Ben seemed to regress back to how he was after the DNAlien arc ended. Looking back on it now, I think it can be justified in that Ben doesn't have anything to really focus on once that's wrapped up, and becoming a universe champion would likely go to his head. Him being serious in the first half was mainly because he had a conspiracy to worry about, while the villains afterwards were once he really didn't have much trouble with.
It was also executive meddling because people thought he changed too much and they tried to bring back his old personality which he had arguably grown out off.

I get that Ben would be more relaxed and carefree after that shitshow was over, as well as he absolutely should be, but the complete one eighty his personality makes comes out of nowhere and makes him become even more immature than his ten year old self. Even in Ultimate Alien where he literally got famous he wasn't nearly as bad as in season 3. And it isn't even consistent. One second Ben completely lacks empathy and cares about no one but himself, but ten seconds later he's being extremely mature and serious and scolding Kevin for being an idiot and thinking Gwen isn't trying to help him. When Kevin says she never told him, Ben just asks if she HAD to. That scene would be amazing, if Ben's personality made sense.

I don't think Kevin was ever on that side of selflessness before, and was probably on the villain side of it multiple times. How else would someone like that react?
Out of the four shows from Ben 10's original run, "Alien Force" is probably my favorite one. It's pretty rare to see kid heroes get aged up significantly, so it was a lot of fun to see Ben, Gwen and Kevin grow up and the tone of the franchise grow up a bit more with them.

The DNAlien arc is easily one of my favorite cartoon storylines in general, and it's definitely my favorite part of Ben 10. I enjoyed all of Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, but neither of them ever really reached the same height as that first story.

I will NEVER forget watching the release of the first alien force episode. All me and my friends would do on recess is talk about it coming up. I told everyone in my house a month in advance that I need the tv at that specific time. Those will always be the best memories!

Same I remember the announcement for the next season as well as the sneak preview. ultimately I liked the more mature Ben and the evolved relationships he had with the other characters. Then season 3 happened and all that progress reverted. Made worse by the fact he wasn't 10 anymore so acting like his 10yo self came off as more pathetic than entertaining.
I miss old Cartoonetwork, it was this show, Batman:Brave and the Bold, Justice League, Scooby Doo and so.Cartoonetwork today is a joke.

The episode that made me really appreciate alien force was the big chill babies episode it helped slowly showed that the type of person Ben can be and slowly becomes throughout the alien force series and overall it helps distinguish itself from the previous Ben 10 in the best and shows the beauty of the new environment, stories and characters, I rewatch the episode on some occasions and I still feel the same way every time.

I consider Ultimate Alien Force (Alien Force + Ultimate Alien) to be the peak of Ben 10 which has yet to be topped. It had a maturity to it but still didn't take itself too seriously, and while the art style took a LONG time for me to get used to, the story is at the forefront of the showrunners' priorities. The episode where Ben stands up to his old bullies actually had a profound effect on me. While I'm sure it would come off as tame and formulaic by today's standards, at the time it felt refreshing to get a bullying message that wasn't either "petty revenge which is ultimately wrong" or "don't stoop to their level, just ignore it/rise above it". Ben stands up for himself and says he isn't going to take their abuse anymore. And he does it as a person, not as some alien superhero. That's powerful, I think.
Very excited for the next video, as some of this series' best moments come from Ultimate Alien. Also, Echo Echo is best alien of this era. Nobody @ me xP
I 100% agree with Echo Echo being best alien. Especially in Ultimate Alien, U.Echo Echo is rad as hell, seeing as he almost killed Ultimate Kevin with 12 discs of his Sonic Doom. Plus, each Echo Clone can become a different Ben, meaning Ben has his own way of Immortality, and his own army.

Totally agree. OG Ben 10, Alien Force and Ultimate Alien were a great series trilogy. I could never get into Omniverse and anything beyond that (probably because I was getting too old). So for me, Ben, Gwen and Kevin's journey eneded with UA.
Not gonna lie, Mr. Smoothies is probs an alien run chain with extremely high insurance coverage. So they probably welcome massive destruction on their lot.

I was shocked on suddenly remembering this show existed just how high-ish scifi the show could get, the tribunal of alien X and that time traveller god scientist dude was pretty heady stuff for a young audience but perfect from the slightly older original viewers who saw the original series

The doctor was fun. He is literally modled after a doctor from dr who. A classic series one.
Kevin is definitely one of my favorite characters in the show. He's sometimes the jobber to make the baddy or tension of the scene get ranked up but he's actually really powerful. His speech in the later seasons about how much Ben affected his life always brings tears to my eyes; that delivery was so fuckin good.

Alien Force is actually my favorite series out of the original continuity. I like the original don’t get me wrong, but the darker tone while still having some light hearted moments really works for the Ben10 franchise in my opinion. I know AF kinda got bad at the end, but it was still enjoyable. The show also had some really nice character moments that we didn’t get enough of in the original series. Ultimate Alien is where I kinda dropped off though, I watched some episodes but I didn’t watch it as much as I did the original and AF; and Omniverse…… was just too much.
My band is working on our first single. My best friend was rewatching alien force at the same time we were looking for a new name...we settled on Forever Knights
I actually have a fun story about how I realized that Alien Force was even a thing. So, am from latin america, and here Ben 10 was FUCKING HUGE, it was literally the most popular new thing and most kids were watching it. I was a HUGE fan of the original series, Ben ( alongside Naruto and Peter Parker ) were the most important fictional characters to me as a kid, I had a few toys and the The Protector of Earth game on a good ol PS2 chipeada. So, one day while shopping on a place that sold pirated games, me and my brother saw this cover for a game called: Ben 10 Alien Force. And we were like: WHAT!? Ben and Gwen are teenagers now, and THAT'S KEVIN!? KEVIN IS A GOOD GUY!?
This was back in 2008, and while the United States got Alien Force that year, here in latin america we had to wait until 2009 to see it.
So me and my brother played this game, saw the new aliens ( in that game you could only play as Swampfire, Big Chill, SpiderMonkey, JetRay and Humongosaur ) and the new villains and it was just so awesome to see something that felt like it came from a parallel universe at the time. I went to my friends at school telling them: Yo guys, there's this Ben 10 game that me and my brother got and now they're older and he has new aliens and Kevin is a good guy and AAHHH. Of course, they didn't believe me lol
But when Cartoon Network started to promote the end of the original series as well as promoting the new show Ben 10 Alien Force I got super fucking excited, it was like an AJA moment
And then the first episode dropped, next day or a few days later, I went to my friends at school all like: I TOLD YOU GUYS IT WAS REAL!!!.
Piracy literally spoiled me the fact that my favorite show was going to have a sequel lmao. God I replayed that game as well as Protector of Earth so many times as a kid, this franchise just means a lot to me. Great video as always Billiam!!

One of my favorite parts of the show was when Vilgax had the Omnitrix and transformed into Goop (I think by Ben's "advice") and Ben beat him because he knew his alien's weaknesses.
And also seeing the old villains from the original series aged up and changed too was really interesting
I cannot state how lucky I feel for watching both Ben 10 and alien force on its original runs when I was a kid and holy shit does it still stick with me, I love this series and it makes me so happy that people still appreciate it, as much as I hate the new Ben 10 it makes me happe that the core concepts are reaching younger audiences still.
Alien Force was always my personal favorite part of the franchise. I just liked seeing the chracters grow, Kevin's redemption, and the overarching storyline + good dialogue.

Ben 10 alien force - the appropriate way to age up your characters with your audience, while being respectful to the source material.
To me, the funniest part of Gwen and Kevin's relationship is their voice actors, those of Terra and Beast Boy whose much hoped for but ultimately dashed relationship saw no "whelming" conclusion by the end of Teen Titans.

I'll never forget the episode where Kevin got revenge for his father. I assumed they were going to keep it PG and have Kevin show mercy, but instead they showed that he's still facing his own demons and needed to grow more before truly becoming a hero. It added a lot of depth and realness to his character.

The latter half of Alien Force is very controversial in the Ben 10 fandom. Apparently the writers of the show were heavily pressured by the head executives at CN to make the show more like the OS (immature Ben, light-hearted tone, no overarching story, etc), for many fans it was a big turn off to see Ben act so immature after being level headed for so long. Personally I don’t see how Tony Stark is loved yet everyone wants to punch Ben 10 in the face.
Next is Ultimate Alien. My favorite.

For me, part of why Ben's personality shift was a turn-off is because it isn't done gradually, and because of where it came from. While yes there was time between the last episode of season 2 and the first episode of season 3, from the audience's perspective there's been no time at all. So it's as if he became a different character between seasons and we didn't get to see it. As for the second point, Ben beat the Highbreed by outsmarting them and kind of forcing them down to his level by splicing their DNA and ruining their "purity". It was actually a kind of clever way to do it where just fighting it out wouldn't have necessarily worked. So him getting this big head about saving the whole world when it had to do more with ingenuity versus raw strength makes the transition feel a little iffy. I know he's gotten major praise and commemoration for stopping the High Breed, but he just casually dismisses dangerous aliens as if he can just beat them all with ease it causes a bit of a disconnect, since raw strength isn't how he beat the Highbreed to begin with. It's not that the change doesn't make sense in-universe, it's more like it could've been handled better and had more build up.

I prefer it’s sequel ultimate alien because of its first arc with one of my favourite villains in Ben 10 history aggregor John DiMaggio’s voice acting makes him a really intimidating villain plus his design is cool and he outwits the heroes at every turn. The arc is awesome it starts off with 5 aliens bivalvin,raad,galapagus,pandor and Andreas being hunted by aggregor then he absorbs them then the next bulk of the arc is to stop aggregor from reassembling the map of infinity and keeping him from going to the forge of creation and some of the episodes are good (except for the magic one that felt like a charm caster Focused episode that just happened to feature aggregor chasing a piece of the map). and the final episode of map arc is even better they go to the forge of creation and inexplicably meet younger Ben (voiced by Tara strong) because of some time shenanigans and they fight aggregor and in a last ditch effort to beat him Kevin absorbs the ultmatrix beats aggregor and if you’ve seen the original series you know the drill Kevin goes crazy and the arc keeps going and IMO it’s just as good as the first half. season 1 is my favourite of ultimate alien I’ve only seen like 3 episodes afterwards in different seasons that being Ben 10,000 returns,the ultimate sacrifice and night of the living nightmare and they’re pretty good hell ultimate sacrifice had me in tears that’s how good it was but season 1 of ultimate alien is untouchable and I’m so glad I got a good portion of that arc on DVD for Christmas in 2020 if you haven’t seen the aggregor arc from ultimate alien go check it out you’re really missing out on it
my favorite episodes of that arc are the one where they go to the only water planet (and they give goop its best moment) and its climax: the forge of creation

Same here! I think that the characters felt far more like people in Ultimate Alien - I found them too stereotypical in Alien Force. The Aggregor arc was great, but personally I didn't like Ultimate Kevin.

I remember how cool it was to see those characters age up as cartoons didn't do that very much at the time. Seeing everyone grow as characters and age was super cool. I also remember being super bummed that he lost access to all the aliens I enjoyed though. Granted, a lot of the new aliens were super cool. I also think I preferred Gwen having a variety of cool magics than just making purple stuff.

So Ben uses the Omnitrix robust DNA scanning technology to patch the Highbreed's DNA to give them healthy NEW bodies infused with the delicious taste of a bunch of alien DNA. Reiny returns with news: Racism is bad. They let Reiny become the new leader to bring the Highbreed into a new era."

Really appreciated the serialized, long term interconnected storytelling in Alien Force. I think with the rise of Anime and Streaming, a super tightly written reboot that includes long-term narrative plot threads would be quite viable.

Out of all of the Ben 10 series, Alien Force was my favorite. I liked that it was more serious since the characters were older and were dealing with more problems. I didn't care much for the original Ben 10, but Alien Force's initial plot grabbed my attention. The DNAliens arc was pretty solid and satisfying from what I remember of it. I really like Kevin too and his relationship with Gwen turned out to be a lot more genuine than I thought it would be initially. I didn't like Ben getting his massive ego back. While it might have made sense in universe after he saved the universe, it made him way too annoying and unlikable at points for my tastes. It felt like a noticeable step down after the DNAliens arc. There were some good moments and the finale was pretty decent from what I remember, but I agree that it didn't have as much focus as the first twenty six episodes did.
