How she looks waking up from an on call shift is 100 times prettier and more refreshed than me actually getting a full uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep and I’m very jealous.
@@stephw6046 it is a good thing that Siobhan also uses a facemask regularly, as it would be a shame to people, to have their countries in the Top 20 worst-hit countries for corona virus.
I remember having to be at school at 7:20 am ON THE DOT. hated it, now I sleep in. I could never imagine wanting to wake up and go to work at the same unholy hour for a living! It's great what these people do! The little things like waking up so early for a job like this, to have the motivation and energy, I could never. I wish best of luck to all essential workers, and especially to those working up close with the virus! All of y'all are masked heroes! (Literally).
Dr Siobhan doesn't go to work very early. Every so often she does a long overnight shift like the other residents. I don't know why this practice still exists other than to save hospitals money. Back in the era before homes had electricity, people were in sync with nature -- rising and setting of the sun. So, they woke up early, started work early, and went to bed early. People like you, who are totally out of sync, usually develop chronic conditions starting at an earlier age.
Don't feel bad about it, everyone is wired differently. Without motivation I'm awake and alert at 5am (unless I'm awake past 1:30-2am). I would love to sleep in but that's only physically possible for me about once a month when I'm burned out.

@@Ashley-pv3su In medical school, students are bombarded with a fire hose of information. Their days are fairly long between attending classes and studying. Working a long shift in a hospital probably feels mentally relaxing in comparison. One of the most fatiguing activities one can do is simply sit or stand perfectly still. It doesn't take very long to feel exhausted. Being very busy usually produces no fatigue and the time seems to fly by very fast. Most likely the doctors are mentally fine if the long shift is busy but feel mental fatigue if its slow. In the latter case, it's better to sleep or do something to break up the boredom.
My friend just started his first year of residency in pediatrics and he has 36 hour shifts. Not in Canada though he’s overseas. Do they do 36 hours shifts in Canada?

From an inspired nursing student
You are so awesome! If you only more people had the same passion for helping others like you do! Thank you for sharing your life with us! 🙏🏼
My favourite notification :)
aw thank you so much!
Thank you so much for being there as a very essential worker, risking your life!!! You guys are not going unnoticed!! I apprectate all you doctors and nurses so much! Thank you!!
Love you!!! Can't wait to watch this!
Man I would’ve loved to have you as a doctor when I was always in the hospital! Some of the on call doctors were absolutely awful and just had the worse bedside manner! Which makes being sick so much harder... thank you for being so caring! I promise your patients appreciate it 💜
This is the earliest I have been for this Chanel for sure. I’m the 126th like 😂 woop woop
woohooo!
Violin MD Your videos always make my day when I watch them. You are so positive and I love that. Negativity drains you like nobody's business. Thank you for your great content.
It’s so awesome how u can stay so positive even when working in a hospital full of coronavirus patients! Love ur positivity🧚🏼♀️
Whoever stocked that locker needs a crown!
I wish I was there friend
You always seem so excited to go to work. Your attitude is always so positive even in light of this. You have such a great smile.
Doctors: you should be getting lots of sleep. Also doctors: 24 hours shifts. Doctors: you should be eating healthy, it can really change everything. Also doctors: the locker full of snacks
That locker is the smartest move ever.
If we didn’t have doctors I would be dead by now... Bless doctors
That's why my teachers in med school says that " you will be studying for your whole life... But don't worry doctors tend to life shorter" ( probably there's some gramma mistakes but I'm too lazy to check)
@@SweetTikTokLife btw I wasn't tryna throw shade of doctors at all i just thought it was funny
Ok but she was born to be a doctor... It's amazing. In planing to be a doctor in the future and these videos inspire me sm! Thank you!
"What more can a resident ask for?" You forgot Wifi. lol
Hospitals generally have WiFi
Riley Brown true lol
Siobhan!! You inspire me so much. You remind me of my biology teacher I had last year. She has such a kind heart and an incredible passion for science. Thank you dedicating your life to saving lives. I hope I change people’s lives the way you do. 💓
I always look forward to when she will finally say ".. a _4th_ year medical reisdent"
So incredibly interesting. Thank you for sharing what it’s like. My niece is a child cancer survivor. She was diagnosed at 4 and she just had her 14th birthday. Everyone on the “4th” floor(that was the oncology department) was the absolute best.
Watching this 7/1/2020 can’t wait to come back when this is in the past!
This looks like Grand River Hospital in my city !! Ahh you’re so inspiring to watch :)
My favorite videographer/doctor, Siobhan has the most positive outlook no matter what the situation. It's a pleasure to view this great content.
You should do UA-cam colaboration with Dr Mike, you two are such a proffesionals ❤
i’ve had to go to that hospital many times for my own respiratory issues and they’re so amazing! definitely got lucky working there!!
