@Ugo Uchendu That's very rare... And they most likely had underlyin conditions, or could have simply died of pneumonia than Covid-19 itself.. And in 2017-18 over 80,000 people supposedly died of the flu, or pneumonia with Flu like illness.. Also this is actually less deadly than the Flu for young and relatively healthy people.. Most of the people who died from this have been 85 or older..

@funfunfun405 No I'm not. I had cancer at 14 and I have a couple rare genetic issues. Without the hospital staff and equipment being able to detect it so quickly, it would've been much worse. I'm in no way saying that hospitals and doctors aren't flawed but I'm also not telling random people on the internet not to trust conventional healthcare at all. You're one of those people you described, not me. AND this video is in Canada, they have free healthcare and I'm from the UK, who also has free healthcare, it's mainly your country struggling with this and it's because you lot don't believe in free access to healthcare being a right, if they got a wage from the government rather than payment per treatment (easier to exploit patients), the system would be less flawed but you guys aren't ready for that convo.

Violin MD I heard that the Covid-19 might be a scam. The virus is a real , but they are inflating the numbers. The number infected and the number that died. Hospitals are actually laying-off hospital works. 1,000,000 healthcare workers laid off. Hospitals through out the country have been empty.

@@user-lu6yg3vk9z So, in essence you are saying that Siobhan has been deceiving you? Why watch her videos if you feel she is part of this multi-national worldwide conspiracy to defraud the public for some nefarious purpose (fill in blank here)? Really? I think that the reality is that nations are hiding the extent of their cases rather than the other way around. Sure, not every county and every region of the world is as heavily hit. that's the nature of a pandemic. I tend to believe the medical professionals and the science and the data. Does belief in this "scam" make you want to leave your home without a mask and possibly kill people with your ignorance? If so you might believe the scam because it's easier to believe than reality. @@wherethereslifethereshope9858 so next time you need surgery, refuse unless everyone in the room is maskless.
Long term studies have proven that masks are effective which is why they are used. How effective depends on usage, wear, and time.

Siobhan, thank you for everything you do! I have been following your journey as a resident since the beginning and your videos always inspire me. You help keep medicine youthful and invigorating, so thank you for motivating the next generation of healthcare workers. I hope you're staying safe during this pandemic and I'm so excited to continue watching you as you begin your fellowship in rheumatology! :)

I have a decontamination ritual when I get home. Mine includes a load of laundry and rubbing alcohol for keys, cards, etc.
Glad to see I'm not the only one.
Question: do you find it hard to not touch your face?
I worry about eating/drinking during a shift bc of potential for contamination. I usually wash up to my elbows and then hand sanitize before eating/drinking.

Hi Siobhan. Im a medical student from Honduras. Im very interested in applying for my internal medicine residency in Canada. I was just curious, watching the first year residents, doing all the consults and paper work, when you were a first year resident... Did you knew your waay around the hospital, did you got
Like an introductory course on how computer hospital systems work? Do you as senior resident get to explain to the new residents the extra stuff? Or nobody helps and you just learn it along the way! BIG HUG. STAAY SAFE.

I realised how important it is go go to the hospital when needed a few days ago. I had asthma flare up symptoms for a few days but waited to call my doctor. After finally calling them on Friday they arranged for me to be seen. As soon as that doctor listened to my very wheezy chest she administered a nebuliser and called an ambulance. I was rushed to RESUS struggling to breathe with a respiratory rate of 60. Once stabilised i was transferred to another hospital and was discharged yesterday. Luckily COVID test was negative but if I hadnt had called my doctor or the ambulance hadnt taken me to resus I dont know what state I'd be in rright now. So please go see your doctor it could save your life!
