    Interesting video, but I have a little nitpick.
    You said Hitmonchan was the best fighting type choice because of the elemental punches, and while that sounds good on paper, if you look into it more, all of the elemental punches are special types in Gen 3, and Hitmonchan's special attack isn't very good, so I feel Hitmonlee would be a better choice for a fighting type in FR/LG

      Yeah I was gonna mention that too, Hitmonlee has seen many playthroughs in FR, and I'm using one in the Yellow Legacy romhack, definitely the best.
      Additionally, there is a practically free in-game trade evo for a Machamp in Yellow as well, so it might be better as well, apart from Primape landing more criticals with its better speed.

  • @mimmo4762
    @mimmo4762 11 днів тому

    I am not convinced by many of your choices, but those teams can work, so it's all about preferences. The exception is the red/blue team. Leaving aside Nidoking's lack of dig in gen 1, making it unpractical and bested by dugtrio in it's ground-type role, you packed that team with mons that heavily rely on TMs to function, in a gen severely lacking TMs. Starmie is famous for it's icebolt combo, and nidoking for the same reason actually, but you have one single thunderbolt and ice beam tm for walkthrough, and if you use tm24 (thunderbolt) on any of them, you can't build a jolteon at all. Tauros is optimal for its normal+ground coverage, but using earthquake on it means you can't teach Nidoking any stab, making it useless. So, although they are all really good pokemons, they don't function as a walkthrough team at all.

    It's good you stay clear of trade-Pokemons because otherwise, Alakazam would win for the first four generations.
    Hell, Kadabra is often considered decent to use as well.
    Okay, I am editing this to add....uhh Fightning is pretty bad in Gen 1. Primeape is probably fine for the Yellow playthrough but Hitmonchan is notorious during the first three gens because types determine if a move is physical or special. The elemental punches were all special, and Hitmonchan has a base special stat of 35. Yeah, I would say to go with either Primeape again or Hitmonlee.

    I beat Emerald a few weeks ago with a Breloom, would not recommend. If it could learn Spore after evolution, it would be amazing, but it can't so it's basically not an option. Grass is good defensively in Hoenn, but it has no coverage outside of Fighting. With only 60 SpA, Giga Drain does nothing without 4x weakness. It's good in ORAS, though

    You got the Kanto teams all wrong except for the first one (even then, Nidoking is only better than Snorlax in Let’s Go due to many Lasses with Fairy types, plus you forgot to mention that Fearow can be swapped for Zapdos or Articuno should they decide since the Normal overlap with Tauros).
    Yellow: There’s a free in game trade for a Cubone for a Machamp, so Primeape is outclassed after a bit.
    FireRed and LeafGreen: Hitmonchan is victim to “Special” types, meaning the elemental punches are special attacks and not physical until Gen 4. Hitmonlee gets the job done better with Primeape as the Pokemon to use before that point. But if you want coverage, Clefable gets the elemental beams (Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Flamethrower) and blasts (Blizzard, Thunder, and Fire Blast) and Normal STAB for Strength or can be fodder for Flash.
    Let’s Go Eevee: The Arcanine from the trade can’t use Flare Blitz, so Rapidash or Charizard can get the job done better (the latter can Mega Evolve before the league). Fairy types are actually bad in Kanto with so many Poison types, so Magneton or Alolan Dugtrio are better.
    Let’s Go Pikachu: Arcanine is good, but not perfect (again, Rapidash, Charizard, and even Flareon hit hard). Alolan Raticate is actually great and slightly better than Alolan Muk (to not overlap with Nidoking) because the Normal type blocks Shadow Ball and Night Shade. Sabrina’s Alakazam couldn’t do anything!

    tbh, even though bulbasaur is one of my favorites, i honestly can't say i'd recommend picking it over squirtle in gen 1 games if convenience is asked for. squirtle has the best movepool growth. it's water type moves just keep getting better (bubble -> water gun -> bubble beam -> surf -> hydro pump) + it gets ice beam relatively quickly to counter grass types. grass type kinda had sh*t moves in gen 1, i think razor leaf was broken, but everything else was low power with the exception of petal dance (unavailable to most pokemon) and solar beam, which is a set up move.

    • @robiu013
      @robiu013 2 місяці тому

      just a run down:
      Brock: Squirtle beats it
      Misty: Wartortle will do fine, it's high defense and resists Bubblebeam
      Lt. Surge: you can get Nidoking or other ground types at this point
      Erika: Wartortle can now use Ice Beam, but also Nidoking
      Koga: Blastoise should do fine, but also Nidoking
      Sabrina: Blastoise is bulky it will do fine
      Blaine: Blastoise has this
      Giovanni: Blastoise has this
      Lorelei: Blastoise resists water & ice, maybe get an electric type as #3, Jolteon f.e.
      Bruno: Blastoise shouldn't have an issue here
      Agatha: Nidoking is still around
      Lance: Ice Beam
      Rival: Blastoise deals with Pidgeot, Rhydon and Arcanine. Jolteon kills Gyarados, Alakazam has no counter but weak defenses, Nidoking should be able to take Venusaur

    • @AlphaOrange99

    Kadabra is just a really good physic type and even if you can’t get an alakazam you can still do fine with just a kabadra.
    That thing has a monstrous 120 special atk stat.

    Few things about the Kanto games.
    Fearow is still a better than Charizard for Yellow as fire types really aren’t that useful at all in Kanto, especially gen 1, as well as fearow having access to drill peck, which is much more useful than access to fly.
    Hitmonchan having access to the elemental punches in gen 3 is completely useless as it has an abysmal special attack stat and all those moves are counted as special. It’s also not that good of a pokemon.

    • @AlphaOrange99

    i don't know man the gen 1 teams could use some improvements like venusaur and nidoking are fine but something like jolteon and starmie are just bad choices like jolteon gets thundershock at level 31 and that's basically jolteon's only move until thunder at 54 and at that point you're already at the elite four but i guess you can make a argument that the casinos right there and you can buy thunderbolt, but starmie is just straight up bad it actually gets no moves and you have to manually get psychic and surf to make this thing at least good and plus gyarados exist and it's just an upgrade in every way... and i guess tauros is okay but snorlax is just right there

  • @albanskigangster
    @albanskigangster 2 місяці тому

    Ok this video triggered me.....not sure how much but could be worse and also better
    First of all including hard to get and late game mons without mentioning alternatives like I get that starmie and tauros are S tier in gen 1 but starmie is quite late and you can get lapras/cloyster earlier and tauros is so hard to get that most people will just settle for snorlax or in gen 5 beartic might be good but it's quite hard to get unless you happen to play during in game winter not to mention that apart from ice type attacks all it can do can also be done by mons like haxorus darm archeops golurk and bisharp with 2 being type overlaps(golurk and darm) and 2 being quite late game (golurk and bisharp) and one being on team but also stoutland works nice in same role as beartic and luckily there is not much need for ice type
    Other thing was saying that there is no coverage for certain type even thought with proper ms those teams can cover every single type and team in game e.g in gen1 psychic is covered by jolteons pin missile (and also by normal types special bulk coming mostly from health) and dragon by starmie ice beam/blizzard
    And ghost is by starmie psychic(all ghost types have poison type) so well its just like saying infernape covers only 4 gyms and 1 E4 member while it actually covers more depending on coverage(bertha with grass knot and wake with additional thunder punch and folkner and flint with EQ (yeah you can't run 5 moves and nearly nobod gives infernape EQ but ya know what I mean))
    Also not mentioning some great mons in certain games like not mentioming snorlax dugtrio gyarados lapras and cloyster in gen 1 games or lapras in gen johto games and crobat in HG/SS and some others and yeah I get that you just can't slap 6 OP mons on team and hope it works but there were some mons with considerable alternatives depending on preferences or way of playing
    And lastly some wrong information like saying that machamp can be obtained in gen1 without trading while it can but only in yellow by in game trade or claiming hitmonchan to be best fighting type while elemental punches from that mon deal little damage due to low special attack and both hitmonlee and primape being faster and having slightly better movepool
    Welp anyways I should stop complaining and tell ya that you'll get those little nuances quite quickly and also your idea of running sinnoh team without electric type but with grass seems interesting but also means that sole coverage for gyarados would be infernapes thunder punch.....or gyarados/garchomp stone edge...which comes just before E4 where there is no gyarados to fight...but also most are just some random trainers except for few ace trainers in late game that actually have AI that knows type matchups
    Also can't say that quag getting some attention here was bad like this frog or whatever not only has stab EQ by lvl up but also ice punch by tm to deal with dragons and same can be said with breloom as most people seem to forget that this shroom has whooping attack stat
    Anyways good luck with next videos

      @@NuzayhEbrahim dodrio’s attack stat is 10 points more than fearow, the fact that you get it before koga’s gym is a nice bonus. In fact if you get it after beating lt surge and clearing out the rocket hideout in the game corner you can get it before having the pokeflute. So that doesn’t sound that late if you think about it, and what you could do is use a fearow until then.

      Delphox and Greninja you can get in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Via Island Scan. But The Water/Fairy is great and it move coverage can hlep with almost every trial/kahuna. There are other good water types in Alola. Gyarados, island Scan in the Ultra Games you can get Marshtomp Via Island Scan. In Ulta Sun I used both Primariana and Swampert. Yes despite the water overlap Swampert can cover 2 of Primariana's Weaknesses (Electric & Poison). Then you have Ice Beam to cover grass mons though Primariana can learn Psychic.
