This is one of the bands I been a fan of since I've heard them in the 90's. Seen numerous shows/ concerts with them and it's an awesome live band. They've also stayed true to their sound during their career and that is cool. You will love their older stuff Tank!
Evergrey has been my favorite band of the last 18 years and you’re in for a treat when you go through their catalog. Every album is a. A+. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting them in Baltimore in 2015 and 2019 they’re all super nice down to earth guys too. How they’re not a household name is beyond me!
Early 2000`s I asked my mate for some good music to listen to as I was getting bored of "regular" metal. He said I should take a listen to Evergrey. Mind blown. 20 years later, mind still blown. One of the BEST bands out there in my view.
Dude !!! I wasn't expecting 'em clean vocals. My 1st time ever listening to this band. The band was awesome too. Definitely going to listen more. Keep It Up
Excellent reaction and gear knowledge as usual, Tank! Pretty awesome to hear some Evergrey for the first time in ages. I first listened to them after seeing them at the Gates Of Metal festival here in Sweden, maybe around 2008 or so. After getting into a lot more of death/black metal etc, i sort of forgot about them for a bit, but good to know they're still going strong.
Tank. Welcome. There's no turning back. Evergrey is for life!!! Highly recommend "The Atlantic" album to listen by yourself in your free time. It's life changing, dude.
I vividly remember the first time I heard this band. I went to listen to them at a festival in 2000. I was a bit late, the band had already started. I was blown alway in an instant! That voice hit me right in the chest area! 😀
Evergrey is one of my all-time favourite bands. First time I've listened Evergrey in 1999 and I've seen them live about 15 or 16 times since 2007 in my home country Romania and also in Hungary , Slovakia and some other european countries. They are truly awesome ! They never dissapointed me . And if you want to listen to another great band , try MERCENARY, from Denmark and listen these songs : Firesoul , My World is Ending , Isolation (which by the way has an amazing guitar solo). Greetings from Romania !
Another side note...going to see them with Iced Earth in 2004 In Cleveland was a religious experience..so much in 2015 my twin sons and my wife and best friend went to see them in Cleveland again..the time we spent with them after the show was life changing..look me up on FB brother..I am an EG nut..keep kicking ass brother!!
This reaction makes me happy, this super underrated band really deserves it! I have been a fan since 1999 and their music treasure is pure gold. In Search Of Truth is my all time favourite record, the one and only record I would need if deserted with a record player on an island :) Mark of the triangle from that album is for me the best song ever written. Take a shot of it, you can för example find it on their live DVD: A Night To Remember.
(another) Great band from my hometown , Gothenburg ! :) me and Tom share the same nickname, Tompa :) he's is also a really nice and humble guy and one of my favorite guitarist from Sweden. So happy you found Evergrey. you're in for a treat :) Great vid man. L&R from Sweden
Its time that Evergrey gets more recognition for their music. I highly suggest to both you and to Chase Carneson these three songs from their 3 most recent albums = Distance, A Silent Arc, The Grand Collapse.
Welcome to the Evergrey club! I discovered them through my manager at work about 10 years ago and they immediately became a favorite band. Glad you liked it. Originally they said this album was coming out at the end of March, so cool to see they bumped it up a month.
So happy to see Evergrey here! In Search of Truth was one of my first prog metal records back in school. Do a few more and give these guys the love they deserve. I don’t know what their singles are but I recommend Passing Through, A Silent Arc, In Orbit, and (some old school stuff right here) Blinded, Recreation Day, and the song that first intrigued me and made me buy that first album 20 years ago: Rulers of the Mind.
I found them by accident. They were on tour supporting Iced Earth back in "04. I don't even remember the name on the ticket. IE with Children of the Bodom. These guys opened and I'm like Huh? this isn't CoB. Evergrey were supporting their Inner Circle album and opened with "A Touch of Blessing" Instantly grabbed me!! and I've been a fan ever since. Great bunch of dudes took time after their set to sign and chat. They have a great catalog with a lot of amazing music! Enjoy the ride!!
This video actually resurgenced my interest in this band. Discovered them in my teens and thought they were just OK, cause i was in my "the heavier music is the better"-period. Now, as a 31 year old, i find their music to be much more enjoyable! One of my favorite songs by them is "Obedience". Would love to see you check that one out!
Man! Love your reactions, its always great to find more people discovering and listening all these great bands. And thank god it's never too late to be welcome into "The Inner Circle" of Evergrey. Maybe you can hear almost any song from any era and love em. But anyway if I had to recommend something it should be: 1. Distance (fking heavy sound) 2. Masterplan (Masterpiece...duh) 3. Touch of blessing. (the best "do you know this band?" song" ) Have fun! Keep it going man! Keep it metal! \m/,
Hell Yes!!! Have seen Evergrey a few times at ProgPower USA in Atlanta. Their last appearence they just slayed!!! They are a favorite, and good friends with the promoter of the festival. I would also say try Tom's other band Redemption, he joined them a few years ago... Now, lets get your buddy Chase to check them out!!!!
I first heard about Evergrey at PPUSA III when they played Recreation Day between other bands and their bassist (at the time) Michael Håkansson played a song with one of the bands wearing that long black leather loin cloth...
What a blast from the past! I haven't really listened to Evergrey for probably close to 10 years but they used to be a favourite. Got to recommend both the Recreation Day and Inner Circle albums. Amazing concept albums with interesting themes.
I love Evergrey !! Tom Englund has a youtube channel and often writes in reactors channels :) Their 2004 live DVD is amazing if you wanna see something live.
@@TankTheTech as you were signing off his name popped up and thanked you, but the chat replay stops at 15:05 so I don't see those last few minutes. I guess he lurked.
I've said this before once, but Evergrey is a very special band for me, they got me through some serious stuff. Thank you for finally checking them out Tank! Please check out more soon, they are criminally underrated. I've seen them live for every album tour they've done since "Hymns for the Broken" (3 times so far), at least in North America. Almost caught their "Glorious Collision" tour in Toronto too, but I found out about it THE DAY AFTER it happened. I was pissed. I've been a huge fan ever since I first heard the albums from their first 'golden age': "In Search of Truth", "Recreation Day" and "The Inner Circle". Of all of the guys who have been in the band, the only ones I've met are the ones who are in it now, but they are the main core of guys who were responsible for my favourite of their stuff. They are all super awesome and really approachable. They definitely appreciate their fans. They are great live too, and they did a free concert on twitch this past June that was amazing. For my money, they have never released a bad album, and I listen to them all often. Tom is an incredible singer, not to mention guitarist. Henrik is very gifted too, he and Tom swap for solos all the time, and they play with so much feeling. Rikard adds those beautiful keys and to the atmosphere of the music, and is very under appreciated, but super talented. He's also the nicest guy. Johan shines on base, especially on their last album, and Jonas is great on drums, not to mention writing a fair bit of their music too. My recommendations for more of their stuff would be basically anything from their last album "The Atlantic". It's almost impossible to pick a favourite track from it, but "All I Have" has a great video you can check out on here. "A Silent Arc" is great too, but the video is basically non-existent, "Weightless" is a great one too. Going back further, maybe do "Distance" from "The Storm Within", also a great video. Or "Disconnect" from the same album if you want something really progressive. That one also has backing vocals from the amazing Floor Jansen, who is a personal friend of the band, though no video. Most people react to "In Orbit" from that album because Floor is in it, but I think that's not the strongest song on that album (though it certainly isn't bad per se). The title track "The Storm Within" is stunningly beautiful to listen to as well. "King of Errors" is great from "Hymns for the Broken", especially the almost military drum line, but I'd personally recommend "The Black Undertow", "The Fire" or "The Grand Collapse" over it. If you want to go all the way back to the first golden age of their stuff, you can't go wrong with "A Touch of Blessing", "Recreation Day" or "The Master Plan". I love this band and could easily go on to give more suggestions, this only scratches the surface, but I think this is already a bit much for a youtube comment. lol Tom checks these comment areas out all the time too, if he checks this one out, thanks from Canada for all your amazing work! Going to check out that Silent Skies album next.
Thank you for sharing all of that! Tom was in the live chat during the premier which was so awesome. 🤘 Nice to see these bands appreciate new people checking them out.
I have been a long time fan of Evergrey. And even got to see them here in the states. Go down the rabbit hole. I’m excited to see what other videos you do from them
Love Evergrey! And this was also my first listening to the new song (totally forgot the release) loving it. Assuming it will be som more Evergrey from now 👊
Glad you liked them. You really should listen to all of their albums, love their previous album "The Atlantic". I've listened to Evergrey for 20 years, seen them live 2 or 3 times only tho (so many bands, so little time) but man they kick butt live! They're just as tight live as they are on the albums. Really, really solid and down to earth musicians.
Yes. IMO, their older stuff has a little bit of a rough sound. I don't mean it's not produced well. I mean the music has just a hint more of edge to it. Their best two albums IMO, are "The Inner Circle" and "In Search of Truth". Both are concept albums, so you should check them out in their entirety.
Had to see this early because I'm not sure if I could make it to the premiere. Found Evergrey through UA-cam recommendation algorithm (the song "In Orbit" which features Floor Jansen). I was hooked instantly. Tom Englund is a phenomenal vocalist, easily my Top 2 (shout out Chase Carneson) for this genre along with Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis. Can't wait to see more of this band here. If you're eager to check out something out outside the channel, I recommend "The Paradox Of The Flame". Absolutely stunning video that does not have any gear in it. Another suggestion would be "Disconnect" that also features Floor, because there is no music video for it. P.S. Slightly disappointed that you did not acknowledge horses:)
When I discovered these guys on the Atlantic... I LOVED it and could only describe it to my friends as a Gothenburg Mike & the Mechanics hahahah - its those clean tones in his vocals man. Love it
I love this band, I follow them since Touch of Blessing, I admit I've downloaded by mistake haha and loved it and still love. I love these musics and clips, I always put on television while drinking yerba mate (chimarrão). The Paradox of the Flame (his wife sings here) The Impossible Distance All I have In Orbit Weightless I love his wife's voice, I wish every CD had a song at least with her.
I'm so glad you finally discovered another favourite band of mine next to Nightwish. I'm friends with Tom S. Englund too, he's an awesome guy! You probably know this already but former drummer/ current Sabaton drummer Hannes is Floor Jansen's husband.
Awesome reaction Tank! :) I have been in bed with Evergrey since the beginning haha! One of the first bands that drew me into the metalscene. They are awesome! I LOVE Tom Englund's voice along with the instruments. Their sound is unique! I live in Gothenburg and I went to Metaltown in Gothenburg back in 2009 and saw them. They had the first time (opener) at the first day of the festival. They were hillarious (great sense of humor) and did really connect and interact with the crowd. You should definately check out more of them! Both old and new. My thoughts on upcoming reactions: A Touch of Blessing I'm Sorry The Paradox of the flame (featuring Tom's wife Carina who also is a musician) King of Errors In Orbit (feat Floor Jansen) Recreation Day (the whole Recreation Day album is amazing to be honest) Wrong Your Darkest Hour For Every Tear That Fall Cheers, William
This popped up as a recommended video and I'm glad it did. Was a lot of fun watching someone instantly fall in love with this band the same way I did, geez, almost 20 years ago when Recreation Day came out and I saw the "Blinded" video on Headbanger's Ball.
Evergrey gets into your soul. Their music and lyrics become part of you. I have made major life decisions based on some of their lyrics. You missed an experience last year. They live streamed the best concert I've ever heard in my life. Loving Floor as you do, you'll get a lot of recommendations to listen to In Orbit. I suggest Disconnect. They use Floor's voice as an instrument and it's beyond words. It's also in the same vein as this song. Thanks for the great reaction, as always. I'm sure Evergrey4Life will be here soon :)
Evergrey also has played a part in the path to my lifes greatest decision. Song Faith Restored from Inner Circle in particular. Actually wrote to Tom about it some time after, though I think his intention with the message of the album was probably the opposite, lol.
Holy mother of dear (incert deity of your choice) this is fantastic! That clear voice is not what you would expect for that heavy music, but it works surprisingly well! i wanna headbang, but at the same time i wanna sit with my eyes closed and just enjoy.. Damn.. this is one of the best new songs i have heard in a long long time! The solo's had the same feel, that "heavy but chill" and they fit perfectly in the song! the second solo had some blues elements i think? added to the overall feel of the song. very cool! I could see myself sitting in a good chair with a single malt scotch and just enjoying this..
Fun Fact: For a few years Thomas and Caparison were'nt getting along after they found out he was selling most of his guitars online for a profit having been owned and used by him. This is why some videos have him playing a jackson and such. Also, he recently showed on his youtube channel that he was just getting into using a wah after all these years, so I chuckled when you pointed out the wah placement. If you want to find the other side of Evergrey, then definitely do a reaction to "I'm Sorry", it is a classic and gets all the ladies. Oh, and holy shit, when I saw Henrick tear up that charvel strat live a few years ago, I was floored by the emotion he funneled through that strat.
You should also react to their other new song "Forever Outsider". It's going to be a killer album. Hope their concert in Hamburg, Germany, in autumn can take place.
Very good man :) Great reaction to a great song! A lot to enjoy with this band and sometimes with more listens I hear something new : ) Great musicianship, great lyrics and depth.
I discovered Evergrey last year and I was like you, wondering how I hadn't heard of them before. I was looking for live streamed gigs to see and Facebook suggested them to me. I'm not a big fan of social media but sometimes they can be really useful. Since then, I bought 5 of their albums and plan on buying the rest in the future. They are so good I still don't understand how I didn't come across their name these last 15 years. Anyway, they gained a new fan and I have a ticket for a gig in November this year. Really hoping it will happen!
Evergrey is incredible! Been a fan since I saw them live and met them in 2004 in Toronto. Must checkout songs: Recreation Day Mark of the Triangle A Touch of Blessing In Orbit The Grand Collapse Weightless Nosferatu Solitude Within Edit: Tom uses his signature Horus
Been a fan of Evergrey since about 2007. I couldn’t understand how they were slept on then but even more so now. They are so god damn good and deserve way more recognition than they get. Glad you got turned on to them!
Majestica, wich are the band Tommy Johansson from Sabaton has. Their song Above the sky, has awsome bass solo, drum solo, guitar solos and Tommys vocals are insane. You are gonna love that song too....
Great band. Tom is a master songwriter. They can do anything from really heavy prog, to piano based ballads. This band hits right in the feels because of the lyrics. King of Errors should be the next song you do
I have also heard great things about this band but haven’t checked them out yet since I have so much other music to get through This is fantastic. I’ll be getting Evergrey albums for sure
Evergrey is awesome! I grew up listening to these guys and it is always great when they release any new material. Hope to see them again in your channel soon.
I havent really listened to Evergrey for the past several years. 10-15 years ago, they agreed to play at a small show in our little village, together with other cool bands like Draconian and Carnal forge. Not many bands would come up here for next to no pay so I will always like them just because of that. I don´t know much about their new music, though it sounds good. But I would recommend that you check out some older stuff aswell, some real gems there.
I wasn't overly sure of this at first. The vocal tone(? I sure how to describe) didn't hit my ear right. But as I listened to it it grew on me. I will need to hear more to really figure out if I will like this band, but I am hopeful. Especially after that solo. That was impressive, it was technical but not overly complicated. I will be trying to listen to this band over the next few days to figure out how I feel about them. Glad you liked them Tank!
As a matter of fact, I have only one thing to say; in german: G E I L There is nothing more to say, it's GEIL, I also don't know, why I've never gave this band a chance before, but I know, I have to keep an eye on it... Thank you Tank, you're the best man. And to Evergrey; you are great guys, I am absolutely loving this song.
Some of my favorites of Evergrey are Black Undertow, Disconnect, Dark Waters, Blinded and Recreation Day just to name a few. Love this band been a fan since early 2000 and they never disappoint.
Oh, wow. I'd completely forgotten about this band. Even seeing their name in the title didn't quite connect - until I heard them! The vocals may still be just a little "too clean" for me to keep them on repeat forever, but they're certainly worth a listen! Definitely check out "A Touch of Blessing". I remember that was the first I heard of them, and it blew my mind way back then. : )
Thanks man that was awesome! Also thanks to all the great people watching and commenting! :)
Thank you for taking the time to comment, and more importantly, thank you for the absolutely wonderful music. Cannot wait for this album to come out!

Be stunned, over and over again that they are not fuckin huge.

next up from Evergrey:
In Orbit (duet with Floor Jansen)
As I Lie Here Bleeding (live version from A Night to Remember)
For Every Tear That Falls (live version from A Night to Remember)
The Masterplan
King of Errors
A Touch of Blessing
All I Have
I'm Sorry
The Dark Trilogy
Stuff with Tom S. Englund on guest vocals:
Dragonland (Olof from Amaranthe's other band) - The Shores of Our Land
Ayreon - anything from the 01011001 album; personal favourites would be Age of Shadows
Tom is on some Ayreon??? Let’s goooo!
There is also a live version of age of shadows (from universe) without Tom but absolutely amazing.
Yep In Orbit is excellent, Floor is just brilliant
@@duncanh6045 Disconnect with Floor doing background vocals is better. Floor's contribution is not as obvious but it's a better song.

I love this band and could easily go on to give more suggestions, this only scratches the surface, but I think this is already a bit much for a youtube comment. lol
Tom checks these comment areas out all the time too, if he checks this one out, thanks from Canada for all your amazing work!
I’m excited to see what other videos you do from them
Anything that Evergrey/Tom Englund does is gold and worth the time to check out!
YES! Evergrey is brilliant! And Tom's voice just hits differently.
Love Evergrey! And this was also my first listening to the new song (totally forgot the release) loving it. Assuming it will be som more Evergrey from now 👊
Thanx for again great reaction to a band that deserves so much more attention. And I like Tom’s voice so fucking much!
When The Walls Go Down and The Storm Within you love it...Tom is one of the best metal singer...greetings from Argentina
I recommend you to check out A Touch Of Blessing by Evergrey
*** full version! *** :P
Yes, you will absolutely love it !!! A must on your channel
More Evergrey plz!!
Hahahahaha. I didn’t even think about “horses” when I was watching this, and now I feel like I’ve failed.
HORSES! :D
The Paradox of the Flame (his wife sings here)
The Impossible
Distance
All I have
In Orbit
Weightless
I love his wife's voice, I wish every CD had a song at least with her.
My thoughts on upcoming reactions:
A Touch of Blessing
I'm Sorry
The Paradox of the flame (featuring Tom's wife Carina who also is a musician)
King of Errors
In Orbit (feat Floor Jansen)
Recreation Day (the whole Recreation Day album is amazing to be honest)
Wrong
Your Darkest Hour
For Every Tear That Fall
Cheers,
William
What an awesome reaction! This is the first vid I’ve seen of yours and you’ve got a new subscriber.
Thanks a ton, man!
@@TankTheTech - My pleasure.
God, I love Evergrey.
Great reacción my friend I’m you fan since your star to reacción for a great bands . I followed these band for many years they are great too .
Dude! Your reactions are really Cool! You are a honest person! Thats Awesome! Btw I told ESP that I am buying a LTD because of you! 😁
Hahaha. That’s sick! Thanks!
Boy do you have a lot of great music of theirs to discover 🤘 love your emotions and honesty, instant subscribe
Thanks man!
Must checkout songs:
Recreation Day
Mark of the Triangle
A Touch of Blessing
In Orbit
The Grand Collapse
Weightless
Nosferatu
Solitude Within
Edit: Tom uses his signature Horus
Been a fan of Evergrey since about 2007. I couldn’t understand how they were slept on then but even more so now. They are so god damn good and deserve way more recognition than they get. Glad you got turned on to them!
What a great and underrated band
This was great🤘 i listened to evergrey at The end of the 90 early 2000. Time to take it up again. Great reaction as alwayes👍
Thanks god you react to Evergrey, thanks a lot Tank!!!
Majestica, wich are the band Tommy Johansson from Sabaton has. Their song Above the sky, has awsome bass solo, drum solo, guitar solos and Tommys vocals are insane. You are gonna love that song too....
Yes go for it!
It would also be a fun reaction because they change gear throughout the video haha
Evergrey is one of my favorite bands and I love this new album, hope they come back to Brazil any day in the future :D
Great band. Tom is a master songwriter. They can do anything from really heavy prog, to piano based ballads. This band hits right in the feels because of the lyrics.
King of Errors should be the next song you do
I have also heard great things about this band but haven’t checked them out yet since I have so much other music to get through
This is fantastic. I’ll be getting Evergrey albums for sure
Love This band, also "Evergrey Thursdays" has a nice ring to it wink, wink lol.
Evergrey is awesome! I grew up listening to these guys and it is always great when they release any new material. Hope to see them again in your channel soon.
Hat damn. I preordered it, too :D
Vocals caught me of guard, pretty awesome. That's something I really like about Adrenalin Mob, you know them Tank?
I’m sorta familiar, but haven’t spent a lot of time listening to them.
Saw them open for Kamelot in Paris, that was an amazing show. Can't promise he's always great, but he sounded AMAZING live.
Buddy at work introduced me to them a few years ago.
Haven't listened to ton of their stuff but what I have is all top shelf.
That's awesome!
As a matter of fact, I have only one thing to say; in german: G E I L
There is nothing more to say, it's GEIL, I also don't know, why I've never gave this band a chance before, but I know, I have to keep an eye on it... Thank you Tank, you're the best man.
And to Evergrey; you are great guys, I am absolutely loving this song.
Next reaction. Check out the Evergreys video "In Orbit" (feat. Floor Jansen)
Great band, been listening to them for over 20 years. Fortunate enough to see them live at ProgPower USA IV festival in Atlanta in 2003.
A silent arc. Masterpiece. Then go back the catalogue. 👌
Some of my favorites of Evergrey are Black Undertow, Disconnect, Dark Waters, Blinded and Recreation Day just to name a few. Love this band been a fan since early 2000 and they never disappoint.
Also recommending "A Touch Of Blessing", was the first song I ever heard from Evergrey way back when and have been in love ever since!
One thing I've learned from this channel, is that if you EVER see a logotype from any instrument brand, it's definitely an endorsement!
90% of the time, yeah. Not always, but it’s usually a good guess. Haha
One thing that's really impressing me about the European metal scene is the number of vocalists that are putting in lead guitar work.
Finaly evergrey are getting some well earned attention ❤
