We stayed in Fort Walton, Panama City, and Pensacola. I thought the beach in Pensacola was the best. Destin is nice a lot to do, but too busy. Like the video. I've done the drive on 98. We live in Illinois and vacation in different parts of Florida. We are thinking of relocating. I could deal with cooler temperatures in the Panhandle because you can still walk outside, not like being indoors for 4 to 5 months in Illinois.
I sure do miss home. Ft. Walton/ Destin is the best. But, my job may me moving my family back to FL. Clearwater specifically. I’m crossing my fingers as we sure do miss FL.
I'm 62, Canadian and really hoping to live in Florida in a couple of years, for at least the Winters. You are just a youngster ...lol. but l find your videos really well filmed and informative. I can't wait to see your video on the Villages. Thanks for all you do! I live just South of Detroit and l do not plan on spending my winters locked inside! I usually cruise out of Florida a few times each year but with Covid l have had to rebook my cruises. So l do have 3 now coming in 2022, then l am taking my grandson to Disney world in 2023. Florida has everything l need!
Hi Merenie, nice meeting you here! I am happy you enjoy my videos and living in FL for the winters is the perfect scenario if you can pull it off. I hope your future plans to come here go off without a hitch and that you find the right snowbird opportunities 😀
Man, as a former NW Florida resident I love your videos. I moved to NE Ohio in 2010 and have regretted it ever since. Lived and worked in Ft Walton Beach and Navarre from Oct 1997 to Aug 2010 - so thank you so much for your videos.
Visiting the panhandle in less than three weeks; staying in Fort Walton Beach but visiting the Destin area as well. Place looks like a slice of paradise!
Thank you for these videos I really enjoy them. My husband and I and our cat are moving to the East Coast in the treasure Coast area. We are so excited to move out of New York and down there. We are in our 40s and don’t have kids we just need to find the exact sort of town that we can enjoy our lives in. Looking forward to your villages videos. My parents have a house down there and it’s very active. In fact if they don’t have the activity they will add it. They have all these different themed towns and bands that play almost every night. Along with the regular shops like HomeGoods and Walmart nearby. They have 15 more years in contract for building around the villages I heard so contractors will do really good in that area
You're welcome Renee! I hope the vids help you and your husband too! that is the goal of them 👍 We actually really enjoyed our time in the villages and I have a few videos I will be putting out on them real soon😀
I love your Florida UA-cam channel love seeing the sights of Florida and I can never get tired of it as I plan to move to South Florida but not buying a condo by the ocean I'm definitely buying a house inland where it's cheaper thank you for this UA-cam channel especially love watching it in the winter time when we have snow and ice and cold up here it's nice to see warm sunny Florida and you want to know something else it's been hot up here in New Jersey shore and it has been in South Florida and the summertime here it's 97° and then it's only 85 in Delray Beach that doesn't even make sense and yet in the winter time it's 0° here and Florida is 70 so that's why I want to move to Florida can't stand the winters and the snow and the ice and shoveling the snow putting down bags and bags of rocks salt so no one trips and falls on the ice I'm so sick of it and I'm sick of the super high property taxes last year's property taxes $24,000 it's way too much to pay so I'll be in Florida soon I already have 10 offers on my house and I didn't even put it up for sale just word of mouth anyway thanks again for your videos I would like to see videos of the retirement communities in South Florida
Thank you very much Mark! Yes I hear you on the hot summers. Although even if the temps are lower down here in FL, usually you can add 10-15 degrees with the humidity. But the property taxes at 24k/year is insane! That would be a deal breaker for sure. Videos on the villages coming soon. Thanks for being a fan of the channel 😀
Delray Beach is a great choice. I lived in Boca Raton and would often bicycle to Delray Beach, one of the many gorgeous beaches in that stretch of the South Florida coast. But property prices are out of control there recently. I hope you find a great home there at a reasonable price.
November was freezing in the mornings and did not like wearing a sweatshirt all the time.. In the afternoons it was nice but not my kind of beach weather. As a kid we used to take 14 hour road trips from Illinois to Fort Walton in one shot. Kudos to my Dad. You cannot beat the diversity and culture in Florida. I like the driving videos with narration too.
That's what I'm afraid of too, don't want it to be cold all the time, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Thats the nice thing about here, only 14 hours from IL, is not too bad, cool dad!!
The thing is it gets hot here in the summer too! Just check the temps for Miami and here. At the moment of writing this, Destin is 85 feels like 94. Miami is 86 feels like 99, so its not a huge difference. But it is a huge difference in the winter. And thats when I would actually rather be down in Miami instead
So useful, thanks on another great pan handle video......southern hospitality and beautiful beaches doesnt get much better than that for a place to live and enjoy!
Looking forward to see the video on the Villages. I also follow the You Tubers Jerry and Linda that have a channel on the Villages. They are an adorable couple with their dog Gizmo. They are a wealth of info on the The Villages. You don't have to be retired to live there. The Villages doesn't seem to be a good match for my lifestyle, but I can see the appeal. Its impeccably managed as well. Its a planned community and has rules like an HOA. That can be a good thing for home values and the look and feel of the place.
I'm looking forward to putting them out as it was a nice highlight of the trip actually. I have seen Jerry and Linda's channel! They have a ton of great info on the villages 👌
Ur killing it mike.. I really enjoy watching these type of videos... I myself would love to wathc ur extra footage, Maybe we can hear ur guitar playing skills in the background .. great job my friend
Thanks! I may start that dashcam channel, especially since I will be doing a much bigger road trip soon. I will have to think about being the composer lol 🤟🎸
I like all the videos. I have learned so much about Florida from your videos, the comments, and conversation with your followers. This video was educational. Your narration was very well done and you provided useful info. I know these videos are a lot of work for you. Appreciate you and your Lady doing this. Yes Florida is very diverse. That is part of the charm, for me. Keep them coming. I notice you are putting out more videos. I just want you to know I appreciate that. Since you have all that footage LOL. I like the driving video also, but I prefer to hear your narration. I think the driving video adds to your presentation. I think you do a good job of using the dash cam where it makes sense. It will be interesting to know the mileage traveled later at the end of this series. Best wishes for you and your co-pilot.
I am so glad to here that Mrmotorcars! I want people to feel exactly as you do from watching my videos. It is work to put out these videos, but its also a lot of fun for me as well. Im going on a binge this week and I'm goin to put out as many videos from the trip as I can, since I still have so many! If I do the dashcam channel, I wouldn't be narrating those, it would just be to see all the sights of the road 👍
I love Destin and the Florida Panhandle! I'm moving there for a job after college. The cold really isn't much of a big deal in the winter other than maybe a couple days here or there but mostly 60s
Destin looks so beautiful! Loved getting to see a part of it. Those blue skies are so inviting. Looking forward to future vids of Ocala and The Villages!
So glad you got to visit Destin snd see the beauty of this area. One of my favorite areas of Florida! Nice people snd a beautiful area. There is always Ft. Walton and Pensacola! Feel free to please post the other video you are saying you might not want to show us, if you want to edit it. We want to see everything are heading your opinion on it. 😊
Me too! My only regret is it took 13 years to make it there lol! I may end up starting a 2nd channel just to pour all the dashcam footage on it. I won't be narrating those though, would be more raw with maybe just some music like this.
What would be great for these dashcam videos would be to show a thumbnail, on the lower right hand of the video, of Google maps with your location and street names. Of course, narration makes the video more watchable, but the map would mean that someone could fast forward until you're at an area the viewer is interested in.
I actually thought about that, but it turns out there is no easy way to make the map "move" with my location, I would have to do that all manually and that would take way too long, but maybe google will come up with that feature eventually😄
Vacation in the area from the UK with our friends from Atlanta. Beautiful area and depending where you are on the 30A you can leave the car parked and walk a lot. Loved the driving video thank you! 👍 Next vacation for us when we are allowed is The Villages.
The Fla. Panhandle gets more than it's share of Hurricanes & TStorms. Besides that, it looks like a beautiful area...Also, Red Tide is another thing to consider. I'm sure tourists & Spring Breakers are here a lot, but that is most of Florida. So far, Palm Coast & The Panhandle are my Favs. Too bad St. Augustine is so expensive now. I liked Satellite Beach a lot also.
Yes that is a big downside, they get more landfalls and storms in the panhandle. Red tide is a problem for the entire gulf coast unfortunately. Thanks for letting me know your favorites Dan! I wish St. Augustine wasn't too crazy also, but it is now.
Hi Michael, I enjoy your dashcam videos and talks along the way. If not a new UA-cam channel, in the same channel if you can post dashcam videos by City, that would be great. Thanks for all the wealth of information you provide to your viewers. Your State-brother, Shailen.
Thank you for the feedback Shailen! I feel like it makes more sense to make a separate channel, as I really don't want to segregate my audience here too much. That way people who just want the driving and dont want to hear me talk can see that👌
I grew up in the west coast and northeast. Mountains all my childhood and young adult. Moved to Florida because of the Military. Over 25 years later I thought I missed the Mountains so much that I moved back west. Well after a year of getting the Mountains out of my system. I miss Florida so much that I am planning of moving back. I lived over 8 years in the Fort Walton area and over 15 in the Miami area. For me, nothing beats the Florida lifestyle. Thats just me!!
Moved to Sarasota from Cincinnati. I do miss being close to mountains in Kentucky. And Hocking Hills Ohio near Columbus is an absolutely stunning area. BUT, I dont miss the cold weather (and snowy winters) for 5 months!
I think Destin does some hardcore fluoridation, at least compared to my zipcode in MN. Jack Kruse lives there, he was a neurosurgeon and talks about the sun a lot in regards to health
Thank you for doing these trip videos. I love Fla and have been thinking about moving down. This is a big help so I plan on watching your other videos. If anyone lives in the area, do you get a lot of severe weather like Tornadoes and hurricanes? I’m already in Tornado alley and wanting out! lol
Very nice. By any chance did you make it to Mexico Beach? I know they got crushed by Michael in 2018. Love your videos but I've come to realize that my plan to move to Florida in the next 3 years may never be reality due to housing affordability - renting or buying. Keep up the great work and I wish you well finding your next place to call home.
Thank you Steve! No we did not make it that far south east. After Destin, we bolted on down to Ocala to get on with seeing more of the state. I hope you'll be able to make it down when you are ready!
Hello Michael & Lizzy, Always enjoy your uploads. Question? Have you ever heard of or tried "Whataburger"? You passed one of only three in our state in this video. The others are in Tallahassee and Jacksonville (one location each). They're all over Texas, being founded in Corpus Christie. One of the best fastfood burgers in America. They're large, cooked to order and always built "your way". Fantastic fries and shakes too! Question #2? Have you ever been to Johnson's Beach State Park? It's located just west of Pensacola. "The" most beautiful, peaceful, undeveloped beach we have ever been to and we live in Clearwater. It is truly a "bucket list" destination. Very romantic I might add. I wish there were a way I could share an image with you here on UA-cam. I've always wanted to share the view from our condo on Old Tampa Bay. It is truly a "million dollar view", but we didn't pay anywhere near that. I know you and Liz are looking and just thought I would share with you what it took us three years of searching to find. You two take good care. Austin in Clearwater, Florida USA 😉
Hi Austin, to answer your questions, we actually have not been to Whataburger or Johnsons Beach State Park. We didn't make it any further west than Fort Walton, only because the weather was bad. We had plans to make it to Pensacola, but they were talking tornadoes and thunderstorms, so we headed back east instead. We actually like Clearwater a lot and its one of my top spots I am considering right now for a move. Thank you for your suggestions, and we'll have to check these spots out next time we are up that way!
Great video… Destin is lovely.. much more my kind of area than Miami cuz I’m not a hot weather, beach person… I’m really curious about the Villages… my close friend who lives in Mount Dora talks about it often, so.. I’d like to see🙂… I’ll likely always be in the Northeast.. but l love seeing other areas and lifestyles.. I’d never have the cash to live in Destin….( champagne taste, beer wallet 🤣🤪)
Thanks Gail, it is lovely here. I am looking forward to putting out the villages videos too after so many asking about it. Maybe one day you can come down on the beer budget 😄
Ok, maybe I will! I have so much of it, and doesn't make sense to put it here. It would just be the dashcam though and maybe some light music like this. I wouldn't be talking. What do you think about that?
You did a great job💕 I enjoyed the drive especially when you passed by our home away from home, Destiny By the Sea. Living in NJ our beaches by comparison can’t hold a candle to the Gulf. The soft powdery sand the blue water makes my heart slow to “zen” just thinking about it. Saving for vacations and staying at one of mansion is well worth all my penny pinching🏖wish I was there now!
Michael … one quick correction … you called that body of water “the ocean” when in fact it is the Gulf of Mexico. The “ocean” is only found on the East Coast of Florida. Certainly can understand why you called it that living in Miami. 😉. Two of my neighbors just bought/moved up to The Villages. They were all excited about it and raved on and on. Definitely NOT for me! 🤨. I don’t think people who live in The Villages even know the word progressive. Probably highly allergic. 😉😂. Be sure to keep tabs on winter temperatures up in the Panhandle … they get spurts of 40,s, 30s, in the winter and in summer when hurricanes form and travel to Louisiana, the Panhandle is often included in a hurricane watch/warning.
You are correct Rob on the ocean, thanks for that👍 Haha yeah the villiages are not for everyone but for many thats for sure. It was a fun place to visit and I look forward to putting out those videos real soon. I will be keeping an eye on the panhandle weather more now that I have been there to see if its for us or not
What would be a good tourist place in Florida that doesn't get much tornadoes, hurricanes or sink holes. Looking for investing in a property that I can easily rent out on short-term leases, Someplace where people love to vacationing. Any suggestions in this regard would be appreciated.
Michael, it would be really cool if you somehow or another also comment on the surfing conditions of the different parts of Florida. I would love to move to the ocean but being at a place with no surfeable waves would just not do the trick. Thank you.
Hi Guille, I actually talked about that in some of my previous videos from the trip. Some areas do have good surf like St. Augustine and I saw some people surfing in Fort Walton. Check it out when you have a chance!
It looks beautiful, but even if you can afford a home in Destin I am not sure it would be a good place for same-sex couples. My impression of the panhandle is that it is ultra-conservative.
I understand the difference of getting out of FLA quickly, years ago I lived in Jacksonville and it literally took me about a half hour to get out of state, where as where my dad lives it takes about 5 hours to leave the state. I like Jax because you had a little bit of a season change. I have always wanted to go to the panhandle, it looks beautiful however I think they tend to get more tornadoes and hurricanes 🙄
Yes being able to get out quickly for fun or necessity is a pretty great thing about this area. But yes I agree the downsides of the more frequent landfalls and storms are a thing. In fact, that is why we left early, they were talking tornadoes and we didn't want to be a part of that so we took off. Otherwise might have stayed another day or 2
Enjoy my driving videos? You can check out more of them here ua-cam.com/play/PLTQbOpui9NO_-KqDNJWrI23Z5pA6rxsCg.html

@@MichaelBordenaro My Dad bought his house in So. Miami (Kendall) for $ 80K. 2Br 2 ba. I guess those days are over for good!
That way people who just want the driving and dont want to hear me talk can see that👌
Did you visit the Tampa area on this trip?
Just passed through Tampa this time. We have been there before, so wanted to visit more places we havent been to
I think moving to such a flat state would be difficult, all my life, I've always lived in hilly or mountainous areas.
I love mountains too, thats why I like spending time outside of FL as well, to get the best of both worlds
don't go!
I think Destin does some hardcore fluoridation, at least compared to my zipcode in MN. Jack Kruse lives there, he was a neurosurgeon and talks about the sun a lot in regards to health
Id love to see some of the state parks
Me too actually! Wish I could have visited more of them on this trip, but I still have lots of time ahead of me to do it👍
Thank you for doing these trip videos. I love Fla and have been thinking about moving down. This is a big help so I plan on watching your other videos.
If anyone lives in the area, do you get a lot of severe weather like Tornadoes and hurricanes? I’m already in Tornado alley and wanting out! lol
You’re welcome I hope my channel helps you with your move😀
Can you do a vid on the wildlife you typically see day to day in Florida, great video tho I enjoy the driving ones
I have been wanting to do a wildlife video forever ! Thanks for reminding me on it👍
Gorgeous area😊
Yes it is!
Can you snowbird? I'm in Michigan and that's what I've decided for myself.
Thank you Steve! No we did not make it that far south east. After Destin, we bolted on down to Ocala to get on with seeing more of the state. I hope you'll be able to make it down when you are ready!
Did you go down the gulf coast after you left the panhandle?
Yes I did, that was the last part of my trip
@@MichaelBordenaro Cool! I look forward to watching those videos!
I love in GA and I understand champagne taste and a beer budget. Lol.
Hey Mike start another you tube chanel with the dashcam....love to see more of Florida!! keep posting these great videos...thanks!!
Thank you very much! Glad I could bring you some vacation vibes and memories 😀
Is it really just one lane to and from? Or is there another way in and out of Destin?
I cant really say on that John. You would need to come here and check it out for yourself👍
Otherwise might have stayed another day or 2
I like the driving videos it's just you talk to much through it. You keep repeating yourself. Just drive amd let us watch. Thanks.
