i got into Death because I stumbled upon Flesh and the Power It Holds' live version. I thought wtf this is nice dude, then listened to the albums one by one. Maybe Bloody Gore is my favorite because Chuck doing that raw death metal is interesting to me.

It's so goddamn hard to rank Death's discography, because I love them all. I have a weakness for Scream Bloody Gore because that's what got me into Death in the first place, and that vibe and artwork are just amazing too. 1) Scream Bloody Gore 2) Human 3) Leprosy 4) Sound of Perseverance 5) Symbolic 6) Spiritual Healing 7) Individual Thought Patterns. And then I'll listen to them again and the order will change lol. What a bunch of masterpieces.
What got me into Death....their demo (on a cassete). There was definitely Mutilation and Zombie ritual on it + one more song but I can't remember it. I agree all their albums are very good.
Human and Individual Thought Patterns are tied for my favorite Death album. I just love the guitar tone and sheer brutality of these two albums. They also feature the best overall lineup the band has ever had IMO. My favorite songs off Individual Thought Patterns are Trapped in a Corner and the title track Individual Thought Patterns.

What got me into the band? It was 1989 and I found in a record store an album with a cover with some zombies around a throne. I looked at the back cover. There was a guy wearing a Sadus shirt. This could be interesting, I thought, and bought it. When I put it on at home I remember thinking: "This music is kinda similar to "Slowly we Rot". Is there maybe a whole genre of this kind?" There wasn't yet... But only a few months later, everybody was talking about "Death Metal". I found the music that influenced my youth like any other. :-)
Symbolic got me into death extremely. But my first vinyl which I just bought 2 days ago was Human so I was excited that it was my first vinyl. Lack of comprehension is an amazing track. And my vinyl is the butterfly splatter which came out less than a week ago too. So human and symbolic both got me really heavily into death.
For me it was *Spiritual Healing* that was my way into the band Death. A surprise I was not a huge fan of the band before, but now it is incredible good. Its hard to tell, but I think Spiritual Healing is still my favorite album of them.

Scream Bloody Gore (1987) 4.5/5 The only reason this is a bit this is above Spiritual Healing is because I prefer some of the songs on here like Zombie Ritual and Evil Dead. Still a damn near masterpiece! 5. Individual Thought Patterns (1993) 5/5 Absolute perfection! I love every song. I would rank it slightly higher, but I prefer the production on the other albums. It’s not bad on here, just the other albums sound better to me. 4. Leprosy (1988) 5/5 The best classic old school death metal album of all time. Open Casket, Left to Die, Leprosy, Born Dead, Pull the Plug, Choke On It… need I go on? 3. Human (1991) 5/5 The best tech death album of all time! Flattening of Emotions and Lack of Comprehension are two of my favorite Death songs! 2. Symbolic (1995) 5/5 This could pretty much be a greatest hits with how many badass songs are on here! I first encountered Individual Thought Patterns. In some sense, that makes it my favorite. If I have to pick, it is Human. But often Leprosy or Scream Bloody Gore is my favorite. While I recognize the quality, I am less into Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance.
Human is my favorite and I've got into death metal because I got into black metal I listen to Black Metal and people were all like oh yeah death metal is better so I came across Cannibal Corpse and they didn't really do it for me so I went to death and chills all over my arm fantastic
Just recently gotten around to listening to them and the first album for me was the first: Scream Bloody Gore. Evil Dead is a KILLER song as well as Mutilation and Regurgitated Guts. That's probably my favorite as of right now followed by Leprosy and Spiritual Healing.
I didnt like the first albums as much cause theyre pure death metal, and i dont really like that shit. Melodic and techical death metal i like, but pure death metal, not so much
Leprosy hooked me on Death and death metal as a whole it's catchy qualities drew me to it. But scream bloody gore is now my favourite and I only like the first 2. (also possessed invented death metal)

This one has the least amount of my favorite death songs, but every song is still amazing. The title track especially.

The only reason this is a bit this is above Spiritual Healing is because I prefer some of the songs on here like Zombie Ritual and Evil Dead. Still a damn near masterpiece!

Absolute perfection! I love every song. I would rank it slightly higher, but I prefer the production on the other albums. It’s not bad on here, just the other albums sound better to me.

I first encountered Individual Thought Patterns. In some sense, that makes it my favorite. If I have to pick, it is Human. But often Leprosy or Scream Bloody Gore is my favorite. While I recognize the quality, I am less into Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance.
Human is my favorite and I've got into death metal because I got into black metal I listen to Black Metal and people were all like oh yeah death metal is better so I came across Cannibal Corpse and they didn't really do it for me so I went to death and chills all over my arm fantastic

Just recently gotten around to listening to them and the first album for me was the first: Scream Bloody Gore. Evil Dead is a KILLER song as well as Mutilation and Regurgitated Guts. That's probably my favorite as of right now followed by Leprosy and Spiritual Healing.
I didnt like the first albums as much cause theyre pure death metal, and i dont really like that shit. Melodic and techical death metal i like, but pure death metal, not so much
I bought Scream Bloody Gore on cassette the same year it was released... totally BLEW ME AWAY.... still one of my FAVORITE albums of all time!

Leprosy hooked me on Death and death metal as a whole it's catchy qualities drew me to it. But scream bloody gore is now my favourite and I only like the first 2. (also possessed invented death metal)
