keep up the great content bro
Give "Extremity - Coffin Birth" and "Spectral Voice - Eroded Corridors of Unbeing" a chance speaking about the newer ones.
Also try Edge of Sanity, the album "The Spectral Sorrows". This is a criminally underrated Swedish band. It was Dan Swanö's best moment.
"Moontower" is a ridiculously great album also (this one is kinda prog DM and was released under Dan Swanö name).
And "Hidden History of the Human Race" by Blood Incantation.
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Deicide - Deicide
Immolation - Closer to a World Below
In no particular order:
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Cannibal Corpse - Vile
Tomb Mold - Manor of Infinite Forms
Gorguts - Colored Sands
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
Obituary - Cause of Death
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Witch Vomit - Buried Deep in a Bottomless Grave
Death - Spiritual Healing
You have a whole lot of awesomeness in that top 20 for sure, but one that I believe is missing is Deicide's self titled debut.
Some of the best songwriting in death metal history
Album recording is garbage, though. I can't get it loud enough in my car.
Yeah I was wondering where Deicide was.
As much as I dig the debut, Once Upon The Cross takes the Cake for me every time. Both great death metal records either way.
I think Legion is better
For a second, I thought that you were going to say Deicide for the #1 slot...until I noticed your tshirt and then 1 second later you announced it as Death. Deicide is most definitely in my top 20 for sure.
From 1. to 20.:
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Death - Leprosy
Deicide - Deicide
Obituary - Cause of Death
Carcass - Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious
Death - Human
Bolt Thrower - War Master
Dismember - Like an ever flowing stream
Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated
Autopsy - Mental Funeral
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients
Napalm Death - Utopia Banished
Entombed - Clandestine
Pungent Stench - Been caught buttering
Massacre - From Beyond
Nocturnus - The Key
Malevolent Creation - The ten commandments
Morbid Angel - Covenant
We have the same top five except for Deicide lol
Pestilence Consuming Impulse is top 5
Agree to most.
Grreat List, very similar to what I would of put.
Yeahhh you are from my génération years 70, i have the same, just 1 or 2 bands not on my favorit. Long life to the Death Metal and all Metal. 🤟
My top 7 is the whole Death discography
What’s the next three lol
Have to agree on that and I have to say, biased on your pfp The Mantle is such an awesome album.
@@dylanrus8117 they have 7 albums
@@davidlambardo2974 I meant what’s the next albums on his list
@Autistic Dolphin54 exactly what I was going to comment.
1. Leprosy
2. The Bleeding
3. Altars of Madness
4. Slaughter of the Soul
5. Seven Churches (Not full-on death metal, but it was the first album that introduced death metal characteristics!)
Seven churches is full on death metal
Leprosy was first my DM album.
@@salvatorelanni5126 facts
Damn that’s a good list too
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
All killer, no filler, total masterpiece
Easily my fav album by them too
I gotta agree ✊️
That Altars of Madness is a good Album that defined the DM genre, ok, but no filler? Lord of all fevers and plague, Bleed for the devil, Blasphemy and Evil spells are what I call filler. I bought the album with such enthusiasm when I read on many website that it is a must have... I was so disappointed when I heard it the first time. Still now, I find it just average, way behind Blessed are the sick, Formulas and Covenant.
@@zschokks5583 Lord of All Fevers and Plagues and Evil Spells are some of my favorite songs from that album and i consistently listen to those songs when I want to listen to Morbid Angel. I disagree, I think Alters of Madness is flawless and easily my second or third favorite album from them, behind Formulas and maybe Covenant. Chapel of Ghouls is easily one of the best songs they ever made. Maze of Torment, Visions From the Dark Side, Immortal Rites, and Damnation are also classics

Well done lad... gonna have to check a few of these out before before I do my top death metal albs list
Look forward to it 🍻
That was enjoyable 👏👏👏
Nice list.
Awesome list! I'll have to check out some of the bands that I haven't listened to yet. Also, excellent to see Scream Bloody Gore be shown the love it deserves! Few people rank it on top of Death's discography, which is understandable because that discography is amazing, but I'm glad you did.
A few albums I love are by bands who then moved in sometimes wildly different directions, but still have amazing DM debuts: Amorphis' Karelian Isthmus, Darkthrone's Soulside Journey and Hypocrisy's first two, Penetralia and Osculum Obscenum.
Nice to see newer DM bands on the list. I only recently got into death metal via thrash and old school black metal and loving it. So many great albums and bands are out there! My top 5 DM would be Obituary, Autopsy, Cerebral Rot, Incantation, outre-tomb.
Thank you for albums list!
Just discovered your video! Excellent list and excellent video!
Love your chanel mate. Always respectful towards legendary albums throughout all your videos even if your not a fan
IVth Crusade is secretly the best Bolt Thrower album. I love that i found a UA-camr that loves that record as much as i do.
Dude this is a special album to me ! I was in mid to late 2os it brings back great memories ! I loved everything about it ! especially the vocals !❤😊🍺
My Top 5 Death Metal Albums:
1. The Sound Of Perseverance - Death
2. Heartwork - Carcass
3. Cause Of Death - Obituary
4. Left Hand Path - Entombed
5. The Bleeding - Cannibal Corpse
The Sound of Perseverance is not death metal
@@hanithehimbo3382 It's still within the genre of melodic and progressive Death Metal. Don't be an elitist b*tch lol.
Sound of Perseverance 😂😂😂
@@hanithehimbo3382 His favorites, his opinion. Not like he said "The Greatest Ever" as if it's fact.
You stating it "is not death metal" is not a fact, that's your opinion.
@@Sean-fv4wi you're right I was ignorant
This is awesomme, since im really into some of death metal right now to add up to my list of listenable metal albums., thanks for this video and help me to get some of ideas of death metal bands to listen too., 😁 👍 💪 🤘
I'm over a year late to the party and my top 20 is almost completely different to yours but your list is pretty damn awesome. I like you.
Awesome video brother
i really don't know what's my favourite, too much good stuff
Grave - Into the Grave
Pan Thy Monium - Dawn of Dreams (maybe it's avant garde death metal and weird af, but I love this album)
Morgoth - Cursed
Rivers Of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name
Decapitated - Anticult
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Vader - Ultinate Incantation
Massacra - From Beyond
Death - Spiritual Healing
Obituary
- Cause of Death
Deicide - Deicide
Morbid Angel
- Altars of Madness
In Flames - The Jester Race
Glad to see Tomb Mold make an appearance!
Good list, can't fault it. I think where I would have chosen different stuff is only because I don't know all the bands here. Infester's only album I definitely would have chosen. But anyone who loves the Fourth Crusade as much as I do is on the right track for sure. Liked, Subscribed.
Suffocation Pioneered Slamming brutal death metal and influenced the sub genre of deathcore. They also invented the slam riff and did the first metal breakdowns. They are one of the most important metal bands of all time in my opinion.
They weren’t the first to do a metal breakdown
@@ti6414 Definitely popularized it in DM though & spawned a new branch the genre
I love them but the genres they spawned and influenced are beyond horrendous
Bolt Thrower and Death as the top two? I see you are a man of good taste :) Dismember had totally escaped my notice til I saw someone comment about Death, Bolt Thrower and Dismember and knew if it was bundled with them I had to check them out.
Cool list. I'll have to check out those albums I'm unfamiliar with. As some commenters mentioned, I'd gladly put some early Sepultura on the list. And if you don't know them yet, Vader is hands down on the best no-non-sense death metal bands of all time. Their entire discography is solid.
Some killer picks man! I think I'll try to do one of these in my next vid, some possible sleepers. ha
BRAVO! What you said over the first minute of your video, turned me into a subscriber. Cheers.
Yeah and the rest of the video is spot on. Brilliant.
Won't spoil it for everyone, but I'm so glad you chose that particular album by that particular band as No.1
Very nice list. Lots of similarities to my list. I gotta say my my favorite death metal album of all time is Cannibal Corpse The Bleeding. Death Scream Bloody Gore is definitely way up there. It's definitely the most important death metal album. Cool that you chose Pestilence Testimony of the Ancients rather than Consuming Impulse and let Asphyx Last One on Earth be Martin van Drunen's best work\m/ But not taking away Consuming Impulse for being a timeless classic
Awesome list! Some great bands there! My favorite band is Dying Fetus... They don't make anything I don't like... Amazing 3 piece! And Kataklysm... Awesome band! Btw that Skinless are top tier! I have all their stuff!
Altars of Madness (Hell, Morbid Angel riffs/solos in general) has this chaos unleashing within the soloing that is unparalleled in its atmosphere on any other metal albums. The only other album I can think of like this is Suffocations "Effigy of the Forgotten" for the vocals and slam riffs.
For me the revelation of death metal in 1989 that was away ahead of it's time, is Bmot Thrower's Realm of Chaos withit's ultra down tuned brutality, that morbid angel used 4 years later in Covenant
Trey is a master
its #2
Like an ever-flowing stream is the best album of all time after that you can put altars of Madness and sorry but it's true look it up there is no competition for that album
I do not like Death Metal much but could not stop listening to Shadow of Intent album Melancholy. I know you are all mentioning the best albums you all have heard and I have heard some Death Metal (new) and like some songs but the album I mention captivated me in so many ways musically and lyrically. Thank you for all the bands mentioned, definitely going to give them all a try.
Left hand path-entombed
Focus-cynic
Consuming impulse-pestilence
Altars of madness-morbid angel
Those once loyal-boltthrower
Couse of death-obituary
Symbolic-death (not sure if it's death metal tough. But any other death album could be on the top as well)
Also
Twilight of the thunder god-amon amarth
Slaughter of the soul-at the gates
The jester race-in flames
Severed survival-autopsy
I've been listening to Metal since '86 so I was around when thrash was at its peak and I was there when Death Metal arose. I was into Ozzy and Maiden then all the thrash, and just when I thought it couldn't get heavier, it just kept doing it. Celtic Frost, Kreator, Sepultura, heavier, then Death, Obituary, Corpse and Morbid Angel, even Heavier, then Entombed, I missed Left Hand Path and heard Clandestine first and it hits like a TRUCK, HITTING ANOTHER TRUCK! So fucking heavy, chaotic, riffs forever, buzzsaw guitars, rotten angushed vocals, creepy solos, atmospheric shit everywhere, its my fave. But the point is, after all this time, How did I Miss Pestilence?!? Holy fucking Shit! That album smokes, I gotta by it. Thanks Questy!
I love your channel dude keep up the great work a personal favourite death metal band called gotsu totsu kotsu from Japan are worth a listen it's basically slap bass death metal

Mortification- self titled is one I keep going back too, fantastic album
Atheist pioneered technical/progressive death metal - listen to the title track Piece of Time from 1989. Suffocation more pioneered what I'd call brutal/slam death metal.
Great list, especially from top 6 up (almost exactly the same as me). Except I'd have Deicide's Legion or Carcass's Symphonies of Sickness (more DM than grind) instead of CC's The Bleeding in top 3 & have MA's Altars of Madness as number 1. I'd also include Seven Churches somewhere but hey, respect your opinion \m/
I'm a Bolt thrower dude, and you didn't mention the only albums I'd talk about them,Warmaster, one of my faves in DM and Realm...Warmaster is bloody killer.Dismember-LAES is probably my favourite DM album.

Cemetary - An Evil Shade of Grey
suffocation were considered the pioneers of slam. by the time they released EOTF, the brutal death metal style was already a bit too defined by bands like mortician, though they were mostly demos at that point. its arguable to say whether or not suffocation are "poineers" of brutal death metal, but i think when you said that that you were talking about slamming brutal death metal (like devourment)
I love morbid angel- domination! I feel it is underrated .
I love Death,my first DM album was Leprosy,my Keat fave death album is the debut.
I would say it is difficult to say which album was the first "technical" DM album. This term has also been used for Atheist before. But it is true that Suffocation was a new level of technicality. But also of brutality. I just can say, that when it came out we never heard something like this before (excpet the Human Waste EP of course). But the term "technical Death Metal" is definetively older.
I expected DISMEMBER,but the debut,but it's your list
Asphyx - Embrace the death
Cannibal corpse- The bleeding
Paradise lost - Lost paradise
Septicflesh - The great mass
Obituary - Slowly we tot
Sepultura - Arise
Gorguts - Obscura
Napalm death- Utopia banished
Massive Killing Capacity is amazing, love it even more than Like an Everflowing Stream.
Check out Black Death Horizon by Obliteration if you've not already. Old-school Floridian death from Norway. Title track is- there are no words -pure, ripping sickness from start to finish. Mate I'm serious you got to listen to it. Don't usually recommend albums out of the blue but our top death metal albums are about 80/90% similar. \m/ from a fellow 20-something Brit (Lincs)

Oh sorry I missed it!! 👍
Obscura from gorguts is not only my favourite death metal of all time but one of my favorites from any genre
Deathspell Omega-Abscission
If you enjoy Gorguts then you will absolutely adore this masterpiece.
The entire album"Paracletus" is a otherworldly masterpiece.
Furioso by PAVOR is an album that challenges Gorguts in regard to technicality. Can’t recommend it more
Gorguts obscura is like the captain beefheart trout mask replica of death metal.
Glad you have Pestilence in there although I do like "Consuming Impulse" slightly better than their debut. I was disappointed that Defleshed wasn't in there somewhere but enjoyed your list nonetheless.

And there is that band Necrot that is another banger that deserves a try if you haven’t hear them yet .good pick man nice choices🖤
LET THE METAL FLOW!
Y'all might not consider these all pure death metal. But I'm not really the hugest fan of the subgenre. So these are just some albums that I thoroughly enjoy, which I would consider death metal (in no specific order)
Revocation- Empire of the obscene
Dissection- Reinkaos
Death- Sound of Perseverance
Bloodbath- The Fathomless Mastery
At the Gates- Slaughter of the Soul
Revocation- The Outer Ones
Revocation- Deathless
Six Feet Under- Haunted
Revocation- Great is Our Sin
Same here, I'm not a biggest fan of Obscura either, it's technically a very impressive album but I find all of the tracks on it to be very unmemorable. The Erosion of Sanity is my absolute favorite followed by the debut - not very much into their later stuffs.
I find your lack of Carcass and At The Gates disturbing.
Jokes aside, tons of great stuff here. Like seeing some modern stuff too from Gatecreeper and Blood Incantation, I feel like a lot of metalheads get so obsessed with the classic stuff that they forget how GREAT the modern stuff is.
Dw I’ll do a melodic death top 20 and they 100% be on that 😉 sorry about the obscura jab know that’s one of your favs 😂 seems like any chance I get I complain about how I don’t understand obscura haha maybe one day it’ll click ..one daaaay
@@Questformetal hey man, its all good. As much as I worship the ground "Obscura" stands on, it'd be foolish of me to think its a particularly easy record to sink one's teeth into lol. It really is one of those 'love or hate' kind of deals.
The Metal Meltdown More Metal to enjoy is always welcome so ye I hope I do 🍻 and yes people neglect newer bands but I think they deserve some love too as they are doing a great job keeping the genre alive
1. Considered Dead by Gorguts
2. Death Metal by Dismember
3. Biterness by Desultory

7. Deicide debut
8. Spectral sorrows by Edge Of Sanity
9. The Nocturnal silence by Necrophobic
10. Tortured Existence by Demolition Hammer
Could you intersperse little sample clips during videos like this?
I would have Benediction - Transcend the Rubicon. And also Unleashed - Shadows In The Deep. They would be in my top 20.
'Transcend The Rubicon' is amazing !
