Kaithi movie was an answer on how action movies can be done differently without any songs, item number or any other unwanted masala.
Ajay just straight away made a masala version of it.
I didn't even bothered to go see it in the cinemas.

Showing socio-political issues doesn't make a movie superior to any other movie.. the movie should be good on its own even if we remove the socio political aspect of it. If you really want to show socio political issues there are documentaries for it.

Viduthalai perfectly fits into that category in which it explored the hierarchies in a police department, Extension of authority i.e. oppression and How it affects a particular group of people as they form the bottom rung of the social ladder. Viduthalai extensively deals with the notion of Tamil nationalism and its significance. A documentary need not show socio-political issues. If it does, the consumption of documentaries in India is very poor. People over here are used to watching and acknowledging mainstream films, so Vetrimaran used this effective medium to narrate a story dealing with socio-political issues.
@@muhilanmuhil5198 oppression of the police and the govt against the marginalized population is nothing new, there have been movies depicting about it since the 90s with the same rawness as we are seeing today. The issue is even today they are not taking the discussion forward. Vetrimaaran in the glimpse of part 2 gives us a divisive message about discriminating against people who don't speak your language.
And even the films that speak about true incidents are not 100% true, in the Jai bhim movie the religion and caste of the antagonists(policemen) were changed to suit their narrative.
Ilayaraja's (IR) BGM lifts the movie (Viduthalai) to a whole new level. Vetrimaran has said in an interview that he wanted a certain emotion in a shot, explained it in words alongside showing the visuals for the scene and when IR scored the BGM, it stirred the same emotions that he had in mind. That is the genius of IR. He has also penned the lyrics for the song "Kaattu-malli (Jungle-Jasmine)". Good choice to have IR as the composer for such an emotionally deep movie.
The last 30 minutes of Viduthalai show what a master craftsman Vetri really is. From acting to art design to action, Vetri just nailed it in every department 💥 perfect blend of realism and entertaining action

Illaiyaraja Music is part of the rural tamil culture, all those 3 songs played big part in connecting this movie so closer to the hearts common folks in Tamil speaking World.
Vetrimaran is one the best directors of all time in this country.... Even if not now,, definitely by the end of his career... Period
It was so good that I didn't know 2.5 hours passed. Can't wait for part 2, this is how filmmakers should make these 2 part or trilogy films like how Vetrimaraan executed in Viduthalai 💥

Only here for Viduthalai, first movie this year that's worth watching in the theater. No over the top story, songs, sets. Vetrimaraan knows how to make a great film with focus on good story, performances(perfect cast), bgm and songs 👌💥

When they said crowd was in cheers when Vijay Sethupathy was revealed. For me credit goes to Vetrimaraan for the character and everyone throughout the film making the character of the ghost and the operation a big deal. That buildup was so instrumental to the introduction of vijay sethupathy and then his portrayal of the character towards the end of the movie scared me. That character depiction was perfect combo for an audience getting excited for the character not just the actor.
Vetrimaaran🥵You know the movie is worth when people go just for the director's name instead of actor.

Dasara was mass n class done very well. Nani truly is a natural.
And Viduthalai, jaw dropping. Soori stole the show n Ilaiyaraja still gives melodious music. Awaiting it's sequel, am sure Vijay Sethupathi will steal the show there.

Viduthalai s based on vachathi incident which happened n tamilnadu..police brutality shown n the movie was actually faced by the people of vachathi village n real..there s even an interview in UA-cam with the women of the village who were raped and tortured by the police..t s a heart wrenching interview and the movie has depicted their pain n a hard hitting manner.
Been an unnoticed Karthi fan since his first movie . I’m glad he’s got a sane head and his choice of scripts is probably the best in India .
The character of GVM is more of a representation of a cunning police officer. In GVM's intro, the audio in the background says that he is not just brutal but also cunning.

Although I liked Dasara movie, it could have been a lot, lot better than what it already is. The story line could have had more layers.
Always watch movies about what directors wants to say, and if he is successful in delivering that, rather than wanting to see the film that is in your head...

Dasara analysis, cannot agree more. I see so much praise for the climax and second half in the social media space, i wasn't even sure if I was watching the same movie and if my opinion and analysis on movies made any sense any more. Thank you for being honest. Now I know I am not delusional.

I don’t think songs in viduthalai are useless especially onnoda nadandhaa, it felt like another version onnavida from virumaandi (2004)
Karthi easily pulls off emotion and he is amazing at it. Very underrated actor for his calibre of this, often seen as a a action hero. Rajinikanth also suffers from same problem. He does emotion very easily and convincingly, but people only see him for mass action.

It's so depressing that talented outsiders like Tripti Dimri do not get movies even after giving hits, and have to wait long years to get a good role, while untalented nepokids like Sara get movie after movie after movie even after delivering terrible performances. She clearly has zero acting skills, her expressions are terrible and yet she gets big roles in big movies easily. Why do directors cast her and ruin their movies? I don't understand.

Heard ur discussion regarding the changeover of Gautham Menon in Vidudhalai. Actually when the Collector introduces the character he actually explains in detail saying he is both a gud guys & a badass cop depending on situations.
Dasara had few moments in the movie that would sit in your mind for long time despite of the simpler plot in the second half . What a performance by each and every character in the movie. However i agree that they should have given more glimpse of the antagonist in the first half it was bit wobbly .
Put video description for each minute that you are talking about when scroll the video forward or backward. People that have seen one movie and not the other just want to see the discussion for the movie they watched.

Dasara' main plot is love and friendship. From the start till the end. I think the decision of that little twist made the difference I guess for you guys but dasara is fantastic film especially a debut director made this on this scale.

Today watched the Movie,Surprisingly Theatre full of family audience which shows the audience acceptability and taste, only Vetrimanaran can do that... Only director who gave only Blockbusters not even a Hit. Already got national awards and done with Oscar selection list. Raw and rusty. Movie will trigger your anger towards the ruling class. One word " Masterpiece"🎉❤. Another "Oscar" worthy Movie.

Just love watching Anmol talk about movies. What sets him apart is that he goes into the movie to love it and rationalizes the good and bad without sounding over philosophical, whereas the others go into it with a critique mindset and end up being dissatisfied more often that not. His tuning is definitely more coherent with audiences tastes relative to other critics who seem disconnected from what audiences feel about the movie. Keep it up Jammy 🎉
When I sat in theatre there is lot of noice from the audience..after the movie started the whole Theatre audience stunned for First 10 min single shot of Viduthalai.. OMG what kind of cinema Vetrimaran made🔥 it's beyond masterpiece 💥💥💥💥

I felt it was very convincing for me to have people brutal kill each just over the lust for a women. After all we have our epics written explaning how far one can go to get the women they desire. People waged wars over a women.
Yes review was good and genuine but they missed the parallel and mythological reference of the very festival that the movie was named on....
Also agree that men waged wars for women.... Trojan war due to Helen's love with Paris.... Mahabharata also Draupadi was insulted which led to Pandavas making oath to kill Kauravas.... And Ramayana we all know

The best thing in viduthalai is this movie shows everyone's perspective let it be police, the Tamilar makkal padai or the higher officials or the people. That's why it stands out. And for the first time vetrimaran has shown his political stand by this movie. Before we were seeing him in some protests but through the minute details he had left in this movie, I'm glad to say he's a Tamil nationalist.🐯🚩👏
