Great to see Rocket Singh in your list. I watched it in a theatre back when it was released in 2009 and loved every bit of it. It still wonders me why the hell it wasn’t received by the audience. Most people I know don’t even know about the film or haven’t watched it.

    • @bombayboys100
      @bombayboys100 Рік тому +19

Sometimes it is all about timing and also how well you are in touch with the audience. Ranbir was going great guns with success of Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem ki Gajab Kahani. Rocket Singh promotions were very low compared to the above two. On the other hand, Rocket Singh released on 11th December 2009 and Avatar on 18th, and 3 Idiots on 25th. No wonder Rocket Singh got sandwiched between the both and was sadly thrown out of theaters in 2 weeks.

    • @tujams

The entire Sales & Marketing across all verticals from our organization were taken to watch Rocket Singh just as a social event. Later when I saw the film many times over, a lot of nuances came forth that actually made the film like a must-watch training film it could have been across. A sad part though is a lot of good content was deleted on the edit. That has actually diluted the film in its essence.
In the final released version, we never know why Nitin and Giri had an internal tussle, or why was Puri waiting for a Big New and investors to come in? How life changed for the Rocket team when they tasted success and small things like bills and chores got taken care of. Change in attitude - Giri loved his website girls, but when the team serves a langar, he covers up Koena when her body gets accidentally exposed.
We never saw anyone in service apart from Giri, but he actually had a four-member team which we never got to see. How did the AYS Sales team do when they started meeting Rocket Clients and how the new Service Manager also feels the heat from the Rocket client demands.

I think the whole how it works kinda theme was not something people wanted to invest 10 years back in. Now the youth is way more advanced and know the working of a lot of stuff, I remember watching the movie on TV 15 days after it released on Sony or some other channel. Couldn't understand anything as I was a kid back than but watched with my gf few years back and enjoyed it.

The edited shots which are almost of 15 mins and are freely available on UA-cam answers a lot of questions like why he is referred to as zero , bosses bonding with his salesman....
I think as a salesman Ranbir Kapoor characters just zero with business accumin, when u here his bosses response as din raat ek ho jate hai khana peena family bhool jate hai tab Jake ek compaybanti hai...and see you in the field ... U realise the salesman is the boss....

But, I watched them later on (when I was 16 or 17) and I loved all of them! My brother (who did watch these movies on the big screen) told me that these movies struggled financially and it wasn't accepted by the people act the time. I was super shocked because these are MASTERPIECES! There are many more movies that people rejected at the time, but now holds a special place in fans' minds and is continuously winning people's hearts!

PS: Sholay too was a flop when it was first released. But after changing the climax, they re released it again when it caught traction and went on to create history. Ultimately after a couple of years, Amitabh Bachchan had to request himself to the theatre owners to move Sholay out so that they can show Shaan which was going to be released soon.

    Raone
    Paheli
    Dill se 😘

Meh.. A movie doesn't become good just because of the concept.
Raone was poorly written. I don't know why Bollywood tries to represent South India if they don't have a clue about it. The only good things about Raone was the music and decent CGI for the time it was released.
Zero had a decent concept and great CGI. Fan was okay.
But still the script wasn't good enough.
I don't get why some people consider them underrated. They weren't that good.

@@akhil__dev log Swadesh k tym par bhi yahi bolte the. Ki "ye boht slow movie hai, boring hai". "Aisa kaha hota hai" "Maja nhi aaya" .

The film Swadesh plot was based on two episodes of the series Vaapsi on Zee TV's Yule Love Stories (1994-95) which had Gowariker playing the role of Mohan Bhargav. The story of the lead role setting up a micro hydroelectric project to generate electricity was reported to be inspired by the 2003 Kannada film Chigurida Kanasu which was based on the novel of the same name by Jnanapith awardee K. Shivaram Karanth and Bapu Kuti by Rajni Bakshi. The music and background score was composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.
