As a new player I got almost every info I needed, now I need to figure out how do you make AA work with recon, is it simply a vision sharing or does the AA rely on it's own vision? Is recon always necessary for AA? Do manpads use the vision of the building they're in or can they target planes in every direction?
Units have different vision distances but it doesn’t always match up to their weapons ranges. If an enemy is spotted outside of a units vision but still is in range the unit can engage.
Nice guide. I myself did find Shilkas decent when trying various armoured rush starters a while back but generally I have to agree that it by itself is not a great unit, however it did have a decent motion accuracy for a spaag against slow planes, helos and inf. I believe Afganskii and M163 CS are meant to be used against ground targets even if they have been shoved into AA tab, not that either of those are good picks imo. Would be interesting to see you cover other unit types also.
I'm sorry to say, but you are missing some basic concepts: The cheap units are not "bad". They are cheap. You can swarm a Forrest with blowpipes . Will they do a lot of harm? Probably not. But 7 blowpipes will just cost 79 points and probably scare off any attempt to bring helps or airpower into that zone.. Cheap radar units also have a point. They can serve as a damage soak for the important pieces, because if positioned correctly the sead will target the cheap units first... The old-school Bofors? Yeah it's not gonna kill a strike eagle, but again it can scare off helicopters and it can be used as a anti infantry weapon as well... Every unit has its purpose. Never say " don't use this unit"..
These are just my views and I am sympathetic to never say never, but some of these units are truly bad and compared to other units you can get in these divs they are trash. Take the "blowpipe" aa it only has 25% accuracy and no range when you can just take javelin, which does its job better in all ways, and can do its job.
hm, you declared a lot of AA as garbage, because they don't shoot planes and helicopters very well but... they don't need to hit, it's enough to discourage the opponent from sending planes if they see a lot of AA and furthermore, AA is great as support against infantry flak literally dismantles armored vehicles and infantry in the open, even better than tanks so cheap AA is great if you know how to use it properly (against armor and infantry)
Really like the format of unit descriptions, opinions, and tactical examples and mistakes. That’s what a great guide should be. Hoping for more!
Thank you. I have more guides in the works.
"Nooooo, don't buy Vulcans, they suck"
"haha gun go BRRRRRT"
Great video. I have 100+ hrs in the game and still learned a lot of new stuff.
Glad I could help!
Gepard also only one that has ability to smoke itself off.
ya forgot to say that. It helps so much.
A minor use of the shilkas I find now is SEAD bait now that the KRUG is in or in decks with no better gun SPAA. Placing it in front of missile SPAAs

Shilkas are meant to be paired with strellas or manpads same with pivads
nice guide, helpful would be great if you did it for other type of unit as well
Thank You. I will 100% make more in the coming days and weeks.
Nice guide, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!

LINE OF SIGHT

Yeah for real. Hardly talks about aa layering here with these cheap units
This video should be viral
lol thanks.
is kub need line of sight to fire?
Buk & Thor ?
It needs to see to fire, but its missile will keep going if its in range.
Make more guides mate
They are coming.
