      I've been out of the Marine Corps for 10 years now and stuff like this motivates the hell out of me. And then I remember this is just boot camp and the fleet Marine Corps is anything but motivating like this video is. Lol! I do miss the friendships I made in the Corps though.

      I guess it would depend on your MOS how fast you got promoted. E-3 out of boot is nice, but not if you stay there for the next two or three years due to promotions being frozen and the only way to get it is through a meritorious mast. I didn't get E-4 until halfway through my fourth year. I would've had to re-enlist to get E-5.

      The Marine Corps has a number of qualifications for starting at E-2 (Eagle Scout, for example). Throw a meritorious promotion on that and POOF, E-3.
      Thaaaaaaat's why they're called Recruit now and not Private, because not all of them are truly privates. You get paid as an E-1 through bootcamp and then get reimbursed when you get to your next duty station.

    Most people forget that young men join the military because they want adventure since they were boys. Only when there is a war do young men join out of patriotism. But passing basic training makes soldiers believe they are patriots. I know I did. The drill sergeant was even telling us we'll be going to Iran and I have no call to doubt him.

    I hate the "Blues" pant with the tan shirt. When I was in we had "khaki" (tropical) shirts and pants...much nicer looking uniform. The current iteration makes them all look like recruiters!

    So all the marines that are graduating are wearing the tan top and blue pants. When do they get their black coat and blue pants like the ones standing up front?

    • @zninjanewcomb97
      @zninjanewcomb97 10 років тому +5

      They already have them. They just don't wear them for graduation

    • @xXD1MZXx
      @xXD1MZXx 9 років тому +1

      Usually the ones wearing the dress blues during graduation day are the platoon guidons. I believe they are also the honor graduates of the platoon I think. Also one guidon will be the company honor graduate and is usually advanced to a Lcpl.

    • @waynefletcher9884
      @waynefletcher9884 9 років тому

      +xXD1MZXx your correct, the only ones that wears the full dress blues are the guidons for each platoon! Actually the choice of uniform is left up the choice of the Commanding General's discretion! SEMPER FI

    • @waynefletcher9884
      @waynefletcher9884 8 років тому

      +Carlos villar well who said its not summer anyway?! But those uniforms in this graduation are not called "Greens" those are our "Brovos!" Those are the same uniforms that Recruiters, Sea Duty Marines & Marine Embassy Guards wear! Now they are worn per the Commanding Officers discretion! The CO picks the uniform that recruits are to graduate in!

    • @davidwarner3326
      @davidwarner3326 4 роки тому

      Oh holy cow. Those in full dress blues are GUIDES. For graduation, the honor grads are the guides. The little red flags they carry are guidons.
      The rest of them are in dress blue C (or charlies). Dress blue D is with the short sleeve shirt.
      Marines during the summer months normally wear the camouflage uniform with sleeves rolled up and sometimes wear service C (green pants and short sleeve shirt). During the winter months it's camouflage sleeves down or service B with green pants and long sleeve shirt.

      There are a number of qualifications for enlisting at E-2. A meritorious promotion in boot camp makes a Pvt a PFC or a PFC a LCpl.
