- The Honor Graduates of Bravo & November Company retire the platoon guidons and the distinguished graduates are recognized during the graduation ceremony on Parris Island. Graduation date #Dec152017 #ParrisIslandPhotography Congratulations Marines!
This is a great example of what Marine Corps boot camp graduation is like.
During Marine Corps boot camp Phase 4, the new Marines begin to transition from their roles as recruits into that of United States Marines. During this phase new Marines now call their Drill Instructors by their rank. Instead of “Sir” or “Ma’am,” it is “Sgt” or “SSgt”. The Drill Instructors continue mentoring the new Marines by conducting discussion periods on critical topics that will help the new Marines to be successful in their transition to the operational forces.
The new Marines are given more responsibility during this phase to ensure that tasks are accomplished and time hacks are met. No longer is every minute of their day managed by the Drill Instructors. Now, new Marines are given orders and expected to lead themselves to accomplishing the mission. This opportunity allows the new Marines gain a better understanding of how they will be expected to operate in the “Fleet.”
Marine Day 11, excited families line the streets and try to catch a glimpse of their Marine running by in formation. Family Day starts off with a motivational run, referred to as the “MOT Run” throughout the Depot. All graduating Marines run in formation while singing motivational cadence, loudly signaling successful completion of Recruit Training. As recruits run to the cadence of their Drill Instructors, parents, family members and friends line the streets and cheer as they try to find the face of their loved one among the crowd of new Marines.
After the MOT Run, the new Marines have a chance to see family and friends for the first time during on-base liberty. Graduation is conducted on Friday in a formal ceremony and parade, attended by family and friends.
I promise you I will come back to this video in 4 years as a marine
yeah right
1 year for me
I’ll be waiting for you by the time you “come back” I would’ve finished school
@@thomascochran5826 I need not to answer to you. It’s been my dream since grade school.
Good luck man, I’m gonna also be a marine in 1-2 years
Brings tears to my eyes knowing this will be me next year. Earning the title marine means far more greater than anyone can imagine
I promise you I cried when I got my EGA its one of the greatest feelings ever
I cried like a baby
Graduated in November 97. I had tears in my eyes when I got my EGA. And I danced and cheered like a mad man 4 years later when I got my DD214.
I’m enlisting soon I can’t wait
Semper Fi, MARINE to be!! ❤
Please hold all applauses until the end

Thank you for your service
What happened in 83? Beirut?
There's always a crying kid in the crowed
ikr theres gonna be yelling which kids hate. A terrible idea
@@james_400 Probably for family reasons it gets annoying though. Went to see the changing of the guard once and five kids were crying I felt bad for the guards.
It was the most important thing and they have to bring a 2 year old
That's what happens when you bring kids kids. Parents shouldn't bring kids but sometimes sitters aren't available but if a kid starts to cry then a parent should walk away with them yelling sometimes upsets kids an also they get bored very quick I know because I have 5 young boys
I was about to comment the same thing lol
Crazy, I graduated boot camp in 2001 and every time I see a graduation video it makes me feel like it was just yesterday. Semper fi new Marines, you have earned the title and now part of the Marine Corps family. Stay disciplined, stay motto and always continue striving for success.

it just shows you how holy the child crying in the background is to be at this event while he's still a baby God bless him
Earning an award in the Marines is the sweetest thang, very inspirational. My thanks to all Marines.
it's beautiful to have child crying in the background because it shows you the nature and the heart and the spirit of the United States Marine Corps oh, this is what we're protecting I'll take the crying, I love it

My son is currently at Parris Island. He has been Guide the entire time! So proud of him.
When I got out of boot camp in 1973 we were not given dress blues at Parris Island. I had to buy mine at M.C.A.S. Cherry Point. You young men and women earned the right to wear that uniform. I only wish I could have gotten a pair at Parris Island. You are very lucky. Semper Fi. Marines and good luck.

Congrats new Marines. Thank you for your service.
Damn watching the Marines matching sure as hell made me damn proud i was in the Air Force and when we were in Texas in boot camp learning how to march as a unit my heart was beating so loud I really thought everyone could hear it but in reality nobody could hear it but me our drill sgt Ssgt Macdougall had made a bunch of rainbow's (because we were all still in our civilian clothes] and made all of us so proud to be able to represent our country in such a beautiful unit when we were and such a bunch of wild cards i did something i said that I would never do i cried because I was no longer a rainbow and no longer an empty vehicle walking around I thanks to Ssgt Macdougall i could hold up my head and be proud of not only myself but what I believe was my country and proud to have us all be what I never thought we had in us and i couldn't hardly wait to March because i and my friends i thought could really March and look good doing it when I see the different branches March i still have those tears in my eyes knowing that nobody had no idea why I was choked crying and had this knot in my throat but little did I know that I was all chocked and crying because I realized that some of the people who were in the service but they didn't feel the same thing i did no matter how proud i was for them and the country i loved didn't feel the same way and they my comrades didn't feel towards me as i felt for them and this country that I have no place in now my tears or for nothing i still feel the same way about them and this country but I cry now for all the time I thought i was one with them and this love of neither one felt the same way about me i apologize for wasting the Ssgt and this country's time i will never tell anyone that I am a veteran because that's all dead for me
I was privileged to attend my grandson's Parris Island graduation last year -- the last one with full Family Week festivities before the virus crisis lockdowns that have DESTROYED much of what makes life in these United States so meaningful! I feel so sad for the Marines that have come after and been denied a graduation in front of viewing stands filled with their adoring and proud family and friends! Yes, they are Marines, and have been trained to bear up under harsh conditions. I just have a problem when the conditions are largely contrived and arbitrary. I hope that this situation will soon be remedied.
Congratulations all Marines. Thank you for your service
My dad graduated at 17 in '65 and said every payday he bought a piece of the dress blue uniform, and it took him a few months to acquire the complete uniform. Many that shipped to RVN did so without ever having owned or worn a set of dress blues. So, some USMC KIAs in RVN died w/o having ever worn that uniform.
In 66 when I went in the Blues cost $85, and our gross pay was $95 per month so no I never bought a set of dress blues.
In graduated from Parris Island in 1964 and never wore dress blues. I never had an occasion to, nor did any of the Marines I served with during my 4 year enlistment. I say save some tax dollars and instead concentrate on riding the Corps of woke upper brass who are ruining the Corps.
@@Dr.Pepper001You got it PI 1960 Semper Fi
Great to see some young people still want to contribute by serving their country and having the best hand in growing up…I’m a 1974 Parris island graduate, worked hard, got a stripe and a sharpshooter badge.Very few wore the dress blues on graduation day but these guys look phenomenal. God bless them all.
Wow, the entire graduating class in dress blues? Hell, when I was in, 1978 only the honorman got dress blues. The rest of us wore Greens. Things have changed a lot.
Same here, only honor-man wore dress blues. I graduated in 1981. Also, we only had a couple PFCs.
this is the honor class, read it.
Wow...full dress blues. Wish we could have done that in San Diego ten years ago
J Siebelink
Do I ever agree with you! My 2 son's that currently serve would be the first to tell you that. You probably had to purchase it yourself too! If not, you are very fortunate. My oldest son joined after 9/11 and was on the bus to Parris Island. When he graduated in December, 2001, they didn't have the honor of graduating in the dress blues either. Then they had to purchase brand new dress blues, and every button on the blouse had to be replaced with new buttons that were $35 each. Crazy!
USMC Mom different uniforms are worn at different times in the year for graduations. And you do purchase your uniforms but you’re doing so with the uniform allowance they give you.
Svere Style
I never knew that. Thank you so much for the information. When my youngest son had graduated in 2006, ".went to boot camp, February thru May" they all wore the blue trousers, and the tan color shirt, along with the white cover. I didn't remember about the allowance they receive. Thank you for all of the information you gave
Semper.Fidelis
Full dress blues in Southern California heat? I think not!

USMC still gets the award for sharpest blues in the whole US military. US Army would have to be next only cause I thought we looked damn good.

1972 feb6 makes me feel proud to be with the corps plt 2056 we were abounch of hasbeens ex navy ex army We took Honors matso n raiders marine to the end
The most significant part is that these kids are called out by the rank for the first time. I hope the Marines still keep all ranks the same through recruit training. Recruit.
Yeah, it hasn't been that way for a long while. The Crucible, during week 10, ends with the recruits (not a rank, but a title) becoming Marines. The DI's take on a mentoring role and are called by their rank instead of "Sir" like the first ten weeks.
Amazing. Thank You . I love you all .GOD BLESS MY AMERICAN MILITARY.

Bootcamp in Jan 88.
0:42 thats the shortest marine ive ever seen
5'0 for sure.
Declaration of Independence looks like a kid playing dress up
I went to PI recently and I saw another marine around the same height. It was beautiful
Size doesn’t matter, it’s all about hart, leader ship & hard work & obviously he showed that because he graduated as a US Marine
There was this one dude that I went to basic with that was 5’5, average height but he was one of the shortest in our company. The DIs nicknamed him Antman. This dude was more determined than most of us that were there, he was a motivator and was strong minded. He’s an infantry marine, one tough SOB
What a change. In 62, one Marine received blues. Leatherneck Magazine awarded to most outstanding of the series. (4 Plts)
According to a friend(retired Msgt and former DI) issuing blues comes and goes with budgets. Looks like this series was issued them.
Probably can afford to because no more Tropical or khakis are issued.
Yay for my brothers & sisters of other Mothers.... Once a Marine, always a Marine. Congrats to ya..... I went thru MCRD San Diego, (1961) We graduated in our Trops....
@Nightmare Shadow23 シ. It means, Marine Corps Recruit Depot.
Semper Fi Marines. Platoon 3303 - first day of boot camp October 9th, 1968. Best years of my life.
God Bless brothers and sisters, this is one honor I never experienced, the Parade Deck Graduation. When I was a young recruit, we graduated in the base theatre on Parris Island due to a Hurricane that never arrived. I actually had to prove this several times when Marines would say "All Marines graduated BC on the Parade Deck aboard P.I.". I simply show them my platoon year book and our series in the base theatre on graduation day.
Semper Fi, enjoy the fleet. REMEMBER THIS, the current administration is demanding segregation by teaching hate toward one another based on race, THIS IS A FACT, however the Marine and your Doc to the left and right of you are YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, NEVER ALLOW ANYTHING TO ERODE THAT, especially a collective of garbage hate mongers!

One big change I have noticed. Evidently recruits are issued Dress Blue uniforms sometime prior to Graduation from Boot Camp. During the period of time I served in the Corps, if you wanted to wear Dress Blues you had to purchase them out of pocket. Nevertheless, these Marines earned their EGA and on this day as they graduated from Marine Corps Boot Camp. It was on this day that they became members of “The Few, The Proud” and from this day forward they will be known as United States Marines!
God Bless you young woman and men ..Thank you for serving our country...we love you

When our youngest son graduated from Parris Island, he had lost so much weight we almost didn't recognize him. He's a Sergeant now, stationed in Japan.
Good to see them in dress blues. I graduated 1 October 1993 in San Diego and we wore them. We were told that we might not and we were all pissed that we went through all the hard work and mostly for the dress blues. I believe we were the last company to get them for many years.
Man, the marines sure got it. No other branch compares. Probably the best in the world. Wish I could have spent my military stint as a marine. Army was a good experience though

Howard Vanderhoff THAT’S “SIGNING.” DO YOU UNDERSTAND? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
I graduated November 3rd of that year. Crazy how time flys
Back in 1951 boot camp in San Diego blues was no issue if u wanted blues you had to purchase it. Many after graduation went on leave to Oceanside and wore the blues that the photoshops had at hand. I never wore the blues because I felt if the Corp did not see fit that I should have one means I did not need it and I was not about to pretend I did. I have no regrets and am proud to have served.
If I could live my life over, I would live it as a Marine....And I am a woman ..
No not gay; I cannot think of any Greater life than being in the Military..Unfortunately my Mother
discouraged me due to her misinformed information..But I did have the honor of being the wife of a Soldier. And at the age of 40yo I became an RN ..And was employed as a DAC at Walter Reed Army Medical Center . Such an Honor!!!!So I did have an honorable serving profession...
But still sad I did not join the Military..
God bless you!!
You done very well for yourself. Semper Fi
So they issue a set of dress blues now days? Back in my day only the platoon guide got them. I had to buy mine later.
u r right.. i graduated in 97..
It goes in cycles.
any videos of November 22 ?
I was in the USAF 72-76. USAF basic at the time was more like summer camp than boot camp. My flight was fortunate to have a TI who was a farmer Marine DI. He was tough on us but by god when I flight was marching around Lackland, people would stop and watch us go by...We were PROUD at a time when much of the military was demoralized. I went on to do a lot of joint training with Marines and I was amazed at the focus and dedication to ttheir mission. I learned from that and it has stood me in good stead my entire life...Semper Fly form the USAF, partners in dominating any battlefield, anywhere, any time
Funny side story, we had a kid form Kentuckey who was dumb as a box of rocks. One day our former-Marine TI got REALLY frustrated with him and started calling him "GOmer". The first time he called (yelled) Gomer at him the rest of the flight just about fell out on the ground laughing so we all got our asses chewed...it was worth it ...for the last three weeks of basic, he called im "Pyle"
when they show the platoons and u can see everyone’s rank kinda reminds me of release day of cod
Honor and Pride is about self-respect and keeping commitments.
ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.
...AND DOMESTIC!
