- Hey everyone! New devlog for N.E.S.T, and it's coming in hot! In this video, I showcase some of the newly added special weapons and discuss other progress I've made over the past two weeks! Hope you enjoy! :)

N.E.S.T is an action-packed, looter-shooter mobile game that entrusts you to save Earth from an alien invasion after a rogue interstellar radio message leads them straight here. Unconventionally however, these aliens don't arrive via spaceships. Instead, large nests crash into Earth's surface, and it is up to you to destroy them all before the aliens regain their full strength, and take over our beloved planet.

These intros xD. It's so cool seeing your process of getting the vaulting height calculations down to 3 raycasts.
Also that iOS Builder looks really useful if it works - not sure apple would approve though!
Thanks Sam! And yeah... they actually don't... In the iOS Project Builder documentation, they actually say that "they assume you're using this app through Parallels on an Apple branded computer" for legality sake... xD

The intros keep getting better each time :D The way you improved the vaulting with the raycasts is cool, but sorry no on helped on the forums (at least you got it working haha). I like the footsteps sounds you got as well. That weapon montage was AWESOME too! Definitely excited for the rocket launcher and the water gun. Alright, great work Daniel, now I gotta edit some coffins xD

Yeah! I'll think of some fun gameplay situations where you'll need to either use the water gun or fire grenade (throwable that smothers fire) to get passed a wall of fire! :)

So much content there! I like fire 🔥 so I like the special weapons. Apple is too big a market to not release to; you kind of have to. I liked your ray-down approach to dealing with vaulting objects. What height do you start the ray? The sky limit or just about the head of the character? If it's sky limit then you won't be able to climb though holes. I've discovered this recently when sketching out levels for Clomper; the map requires a sky above; so I can't do interiors. Not got a good solution yet. Might just not do interiors.
Thanks Rob! :) I cast an initial ray forwards at a pre-defined “minimum vault height”, and then cast a ray downwards from a pre-defined “maximum vault height” above the initial raycast hit’s returned point! If the vaulting object is too tall, then the raycast will begin from inside the object, and so will not return anything! That way I know it’s too tall for it to be vaulted over! The same goes for determining vaulting length, however when it starts from inside the object, I know it is too long for it to be vaulted over, and so it instead vaults on top! Hopefully that cleared things up a bit! :D

I Recommend Adding Alot Easter Eggs Or Secrets so more People will Enjoy Game And IT will be Much More Interesting And Enjoyable Searching Around Map For Secrets
There will be! I’m going to add chests around the much which you’ll be able to dig up, as well as easter eggs and secrets everywhere! 😁

Yeah! There will be multiplayer co-op where you'll have to survive waves of aliens attacking your base camp! Any other suggestions? :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into it, however I’m not sure how adding an open world scene will tie into the game’s story line? I’m also concerned about performance, since this is a mobile game! I'll be adding multiplayer co-op soon, and that will take place in an open-world style scene! :)
You could do it similar to the game days gone like you have to go go this location on the map then the mission starts

@@DanielLochner in fact this was another tip, because games like Dayz, Tarkov, scum and other games with post apocalyptic survival mode were not explored on android and if it was already abandoned and died ...

Are your referring to the physical mobile controllers which can be attached to your phone? If so, then there is already support for it! All you need to do is customize your layout so that it matches up with the controller! :)
