- Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well and staying safe during these trying times! In this week's devlog, I implement vaulting, taking cover and several other features! Hope you enjoy, and see you in two weeks! :)

N.E.S.T is an action-packed, looter-shooter mobile game that entrusts you to save Earth from an alien invasion after a rogue interstellar radio message leads them straight here. Unconventionally however, these aliens don't arrive via spaceships. Instead, large nests crash into Earth's surface, and it is up to you to destroy them all before the aliens regain their full strength, and take over our beloved planet.

Just thought I’d mention here that I’ve since changed the way I handle vaulting. I speak about how I use Unity’s built-in Match Targeting system in my latest devlog: ua-cam.com/video/_xrOC4JfNoI/v-deo.html :)
As soon as I heard corona virus I had to like.was not expecting that🤣
Glad to see a fellow South African that's also into game development. Really good content and very inspiring for someone like myself that's only just starting out and learning the ropes. Subbed!
Thanks man! Really appreciate the kind words! Best of luck with your game dev journey! :)
Bro the movement and everything looks so much better 😂🤣👌🏼 excellent work.
Great!
Game is coming along nicely. I'm really impressed to how much you've achieved. Dam!
Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words! 😊
Woah, nice work, those animations are seamless with the environment! I especially like that aiming/taking cover mechanic, you always think of the small things that I think will really set your game apart
Thanks Sam! Means a lot to me! 😊
I'm astounded at the complexity of vaulting; you explained it brilliantly. Is it me or is this the first time we've seen an environment that looks very different from your standard tent-in-a-field test one! It looks great. I love how many settings you've added to your game - even the opacity of locked buttons, that's great. It's something that I want to do when Clomper eventually gets some kind of a menu!
Brilliant video once again, Daniel. Great work!
Thanks Rob! I really appreciate the feedback! 😊 And yes, I needed some environment with props to interact with! 😋
Just discovered the channel. Some real progress you’ve made with this game. Can’t wait to see how far it goes
Really appreciate the support! Great work on your game's development as well! Subscribed! :)
Best of luck with the development journey, your polish level on the video is superb!
Thanks! 😁
After singleplayer you should try to implement singleplayer!
Did I missed a joke?
If you meant multiplayer, then yes! I’ll be implementing an online co-op mode soon! 😄
@@DanielLochner lol I thought he was joking around >
@@GameMakerRob same
@@DanielLochner I was gonna ask about that but he already did lol. also YAY!
Vaulting around in that destroyed city looked super clean! Very well done! Along with the covering, the mini map, the crossairs... It's always so cool to see how many thing you manage to add with each devlog. The game keeps looking better and better!
Your devlogs Are so chill to watch man! Goodjob
Thanks Kewin! I’m glad you like them! 😊
That intro hit deep...LMAO
😅😅
That vaulting system is awesome. The decision tree along with the combined logic, explained very well too. Nice work!!
Thanks! I really appreciate it! :)
Wow,you making good progress with the game, btw good intro xd
Thanks! I really appreciate it! :)
Finally a South African developer on yt!
🇿🇦🥳
Best intro I have seen in a while haha and the vaulting looks superb!
Haha thanks! Appreciate it! 😄
Very nice, as always!!!
Thanks Danny! I appreciate your support! 😊
Best Intro Ever :D And Keep it up ! You motivate me to work hard on my game :)
Thanks! 😂 And I’m really glad to hear that! 😊
first time seeing ur video and already hooked into ur devlogs :)
Thanks! I’m glad you like them! 😄
This game accurately describes the current state of Joburg!
That intro xD I'm liking the minimap! And the vaulting system is really smart and turned out awesome!!! I agree, the vaulting and cover definitely make you feel more a part of the environment. The new input management is very useful as well. Great work Daniel!
Thanks Garrett! I think the vaulting and taking cover systems worked out well and definitely add a whole new dimension to the gameplay! Appreciate the support! 😊
fantastic work!
Thank you! :)
what a nice Intro! :)
Looking very good
Thank you! 😁
Yeah I think he should see a doctor
Haha, definitely! 😂
corona time
As always, Daniel, great video! I wonder, which Unity render pipeline are you using?
I’m currently using the default render pipeline, however I’m looking to upgrade to URP soon! Hopefully before the next devlog! Thanks for the support! 😁
Keep up the good work man
Hi
Thanks! I really appreciate the support! 😄
Haha the vaulting looks so cool! You mentioned being able to interact with the world. Will you make it possible for the player to break stuf by shooting it, or add buttons/switches in the world to interact with?
Yeah! I'm planning on adding explosive barrels and other fun interactable objects! Thanks for the feedback! :)
Vid!
Cool game 👍
Thanks! :)
Will you include a secret collectable item which can be found on different maps and on secret locations.
And then we can use them to buy powerful weapons and equipment. That would be cool.what do you think.
That sounds like a great idea! I’ll definitely place secret chests around the map which contain gold and gems! You can then use gems to unlock specific weapons from the weapon rack, or use gold to open supply crates and unlock weapons randomly! Thanks for the suggestion! 😄
Will you add skins to weapons?
Probably in the new update.
Sounds like a nice idea! However definitely only in a future update! Thanks for all the suggestions! 😁
Implementing PVP multiplayer to this and perhaps battle royale would be an excellent idea. Any plans for those in the future?
I’ll be implementing an online co-op mode soon! Will speak about it in an upcoming devlog! :)
That was all episodes ;( I am waiting for more :D
Next one is now out! :D
@@DanielLochner I saw that on your Discord :D
Player mechanic using statemachine?
Is like enum cover,normal movement,action
Nice game man, I have a question are you south African i can hear that accent
Yeah I am! 🥳🇿🇦
In your case making video games
I contacted you on Instagram but you didn't respond to me
I really want to give you ideas for your game so it would be cool if you respond to me
I'd encourage you to join his discord! There is a channel for feedback in there!
discord.gg/sJysbdu
Ah, I’m sorry about that Momo! I rarely use my personal Instagram! Thanks for linking the discord Garrett! 😁 Looking forward to reading all your suggestions there!
I really need to get into 3D, half of my game ideas fail with a 2D perspective
Definitely! I'd recommend starting to learn Unity for 3D games though! I began with GameMaker Studio as well, and eventually moved onto Unity once I had published my first platformer game! :)
decent looking game considering its on mobile 👍
Thanks! 😄
Will the game support Controllers? 🎮
Currently, I’m designing the game specifically for mobile devices, however if enough people request it, I’ll make console/PC ports which will support controllers! 😁
@@DanielLochner But you could support Controller on mobile, couldn't you?
Where were ya daniel.
I’d recommend joining the discord server! I’m always active on there, and I post announcements if anything comes up! Thanks for the support! 😊
O game ta ficando muito bom. Espero ter o idioma português também. The game is very good. I hope you use the portuguese language.
Thanks! And yes, Portuguese is on the list! 😄
@@DanielLochner oh thanks for add
You really have something here I'm just shock you decide to focus the game to be played on Mobile, I don't understand. Would of been perfect to be played with joysticks alone, no hundreds of icons on screen.
Thanks Andrew! The game will also be available for the Switch, so no need for the on-screen joystick! There is also an option to remove the joystick entirely and use the built-in accelerometer! 😄
