If your grandfather saved someone from starving during the siege of Leningrad, he was an amazing man. If he did that and survived himself, he was genuinely incredible!
he did not think of himself as great. but he was. that generation's life was hard.
Same as Americans. Seems the older generations had it harder but were better for it.
@@CrazyRussianDadI read the book "The 900 days: the siege of Leningrad " maybe he didn't think himself great but it is obvious he was a strong and resilient man!
That’s what I’m saying!!! Absolutely stunning! I would love to sit down and listen to the story as it would make a wonderful film/documentary. We don’t get to hear a lot about other countries’ struggles during the Great War. And this would be a first hand account. An account from one of the largest and most brutal sieges in human history!!
So crazy. How blessed he & his family is!
@@CrazyRussianDadmy great grandparents met the same way
"Ancient history" brother that IS history, I love hearing your stories. Best wishes and blessings my friend🤙🏼
Much appreciated!
I’m constantly in awe of the suffering the Russian people have gone through and how they stand strong after. God bless y’all
Jesus ... you brought tears to my eyes ... I remembered my grandfather... in World War II, he was wounded in two places when he tried to throw a bomb at a German bunker ... toughest man I have ever known ...
Amen
My dad gave me his table saw, which his father gave to him. It was made in the 40s and still works flawlessly. If I had kids, I'd pass it to them. It shows no sign of not working, so Ill give it to one of my nephews when im too old to use it to make furniture
This is the way!
Wow. Your grandfather was a survivor of the siege of Leningrad ??????? We need a full video on this please if it’s not too personal. I am fascinated by stories of the Great Patriotic War and would love to hear it. But if it is too painful to remember than that is okay too
I will try
Thank you, Russian Dad. Those are very good and uplifting words. You’re part of a very strong, resilient and positive-thinking family. Your videos are great. Funny, entertaining, educational and positive. I’m a new follower and, yes, I subscribed too. I’ll keep up with your videos. Again, thank you.
I still use my great-grandfather's paint can opener from the early 1900s I also, have the matching philip's head and flathead screwdriver with it.
nice!
I lost relatives during the siege of Leningrad. My grandmother almost died during the Revolution in Petrograd. The only available food was in the country, Tsarist ruple was worthless so she & grandpa made things she could barter for food with in the country. She caught typhus from returning troops on the luggage racks. The lice were coming down like snow. Both side of my immediate family came to the states in 1924 steerage with 1 suitcase each. My brother has my grandpa's machinist tools from the 1920s.
yes. that generation had it much worse than "no wifi signal and low iPhone charge" types of challenges we face today
Much Love from Germany! I also have a few things, my Father gave me. Miss you Dad! You will be always in my thoughts and Dreams! ❤
You remind me of my father in law. Thanks for the smile this beautiful morning.
Great video.. ✌🏻thank you for sharing
My grandfather had a large wooden handled screw driver, which had a broken handle, so I turned a new handle for it. Now that he has passed away I keep that screw driver in my car, and every time I see it I think of him. I also have my grand mother's spatula, which has an honored place in our home. You do not need to inherit great wealth to honor your family.
how true
Your grandfather is a great person
And a hero to many
This is an amazing lesson and very nice to hear this story and pass the memories to all of us
When I hear him speak or watch his video I got stalker anomaly vibes
Hi man, your videos are great, please keep making them❤
Blessings to you and your younglings friend
i wish you had been my dad. your such a sweet man
Most wholesome channel on UA-cam just a true guy
I love your culture and your history, what a beautiful story ❤️
RIP. My grandfather served in WW2 in Europe in the army as am officer. My other grandpa was in the Navy during the war but was in the Pacific theater.
Family is truly beautiful. My father left me some of his old artwork, and the most beautiful skeleton key and oil lamp both made of brass… These will be heirlooms for my babies, even though their grandpa has passed, they’ll know what an eccentric and loving dad he was to me.
I'm blessed to have inherited many of my great-grandfather's tools and fishing equipment. I still use most of them and plan to pass them down to my kids if I have them and if not I will donate them to my old school's shop class.
Great advice. You're a really good man. Have a nice day 😊
Really like your channel!!!
Amazing story! The siege of Leningrad was very hard times for everyone, I’m glad we have things to remember it by, and your grandfather is amazing for saving your grandmother from hunger! Especially during the siege of Leningrad, an act like that is heroic!
Love this guy!
Cool seeing you do other videos. Love the pro family messaging.
Thank you so much for sharing. In the workshop of my father you still find tools of my grandfather. Some of the tools are hand-made - and still working. My grandfather and my father were metal worker. I never knew my grandfather, he passed away in 1961. My father retired 20 years ago.
All I can say is you are amazing, greetings from a Nigerian studying in Russia Здоровье
Fixing kitchen cabinets is hard and maybe I need to hire somebody 😂
Blessings to you, your grandfather and father.
Beautiful!
Is it just me or you can be having a normal day and then you have like the saddest thoughts of someone that died in your life
I relate. They are not always sad. But I think of those who are gone often.
Holy crap your grandfather was a warrior
Good to know your family is one of the ones from when Russia was our Allie. I really hope to see the day when all our countries are back together.
Respect to you and your family and any other Russian out there like you. And may for grandfather rest in peace. 🫡 lest we forget mate.
Ah😀 antic tool. Still working and useful. Awesome😎👌
My uncle served in the polish army during World War 2, he found a German soldier’s compass which he passed on to my dad who will pass it down to me, thank you for reminding me of these memories Crazy Russian Dad!

We called it a Scratch Awl. Very useful to mark on wood and start screw holes, also excellent self defense tool.
Помните своих предков и оставьте что-нибудь своим потомкам на память о вас.
Amen to that. My grandfather left me things, and I treasure them.
@@thevox1075 Awesome.
I have an old Vis Radom 35 that belonged to my great grandfather. He got it off of a dead Nazi when he was deployed to France. It’s not exactly a tool but it’s always something I’ll cherish.
I was leaving the Dr's office yesterday and opened the door to the lobby and there stood my grandfather. He's been gone for several years now. It took my breath. I almost asked this man if I could take a photo with him.
G,d bless you and your family.
Thats very intrasting story about your family roots
We can't do such a thing anymore; tools don't last long these days :(
Btw great video 👌

My family we have a ring that gets passed to the eldest son I got it back in 2022. It's from when my family came here from Ireland in 1910.
Wow in the great siege of all places that's amazing and a great video
Leningrad was no joke.
I have nothing but respect for people who lived through that kind of thing.
I have a little aluminium funnel from my grandfather. Sily thing is worth cents, but for me is priceless.
I love history I would love to talk to
You’re a great man too - love all your videos along with my 74 year old mother who is a huge fan - a great refreshing thing to watch I this crazy world - thank you.
God bless your papa and mama
My great drandfather fought in Leningrad, he was hungarian so he fought on the side of the germans. I apologize in the name of my grandfather to russia and the eastern world for invading your cities and killing your people. We are friends now arent we?😊
I use a potato peeler I call 'Emily', after a lovely elderly lady my wife and I knew from our old church. She gave it to us as a wedding gift over 35 years ago. I think of her every time I pull it out of the drawer. Thanks so much, Emily Thomas!
A lot of the Soviet stuff you do is over the top and the more you learn about history, the harder it is to sympathise with it. This video wasn't like that, this video was genuinely just a good video with a good message. There was no politics here. There was no silliness. I hope you remember your family fondly and I hope they remember you too.
My grate grate grandfather served in the cavalry during WW1, we have his saber hung up on the wall.
Valuable information
My paternal grandfather gifted me a Swiss Army knife and my maternal grandfather gave me binoculars that I both use till this day.
I have some some tool's from my grandfather, as well as the knowledge from my grandmother.
My nieces and nephews don't care to learn or adopt anything from me.
Danke ich liebe deine Videos so kann ich Russisch lernen ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Important thing if you want your kids to remember you is that you must be good to them.
Comrade I fought in Vietnam and salute your grandad veteran of the Great patriotic War
Ey, grandma has the similar things! The PRM and USSR really do have similarities!
Great story, love all ur videos and is great to hear u talking about ur family
I love this video !! Keep up the amazing videos my friend !
I love this guy. Wish he was my neighbor! He can come visit me on my farm here in Ohio any time! I have a few Russian friends, and people, listen to me: they are great people. I’m not talking politics here. I’m talking about HUMANITY. Don’t listen to propaganda. I love my Russian friends. They’re GOOD people.
thank you :) I think most people (regardless of origin) are good.
@@CrazyRussianDad absolutely. I wish the handful of politicians that keep this Cold War mentality going would go away. One of my friends from Russia wants to come visit, and it’s extremely difficult right now.
Nice change from the food videos, unexpected. Good message ;)
Not gonna lie, but this short is beautiful. It's nice of you to share such a wonderful memory.
I didnt have a aul. I have pictures of my great grand paw in Manchuria with tigercubs. Я тоже за плачу
Great message! I have a WWI German Army Helmet that was made into a mini bar that I inherited from my grandfather. The top half of the helmet flips backwards to open and there are 4 shot glasses and a glass flask on this inside. I remember seeing this on my grandparents bar in their basement as a little kid. I would always follow my grandfather downstairs when I would fly back to visit there during the summer time and he would make himself a drink after he finished work. He would always tell me stories about him and my grandmother when they traveled the world because they also had many keepsakes from all over the globe 🌎 that decorated the bar area of the basement. More so, my grandfather would always be passing on wisdom/ life lessons that he learned young and important things to know and to be aware of as I got older. Obviously he’s passed on now, but the helmet bar which I have here in my house, reminds me of his knowledge, wisdom and conversations that he passed on to me that I still remember at 53 years of age.
After mother died left my house and living in Their it cobsumes the good memories😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Too many people have lost our tangible reminders of how awful the great wars really were, so we have forgotten the truth of the past and so many are eager to make us repeat it
Nice.
I love using these towel-like summer blankets that my grandmother gave me from Ukraine. She is gone now but me and my American husband cherish them so much.
always!
❤
Hello I like your tool

That thing is called an "awl"? All my years I kept calling it a wood screw... And people always were confused on what a "wood screw" is... Also goodluck with the cabinet...
