Interesting. Regarding MIDI routing: - I used mix of 5 pin MIDI out in Deluge (with additIon of MIDI through on my synths) and MIDI over USB in Deluge and USB hub. - Just today I ordered two MIDI splitters (to chain them) and to move away from midi over USB in Deluge. Regarding audio routing: - I have too many synths for my mixer so I just use patchbay + small mixer as a "submix" for my three Craves - audio from all my synths is sent to mixer and later from mixer to Deluge and next again from Deluge to mixer and finally to speakers (somewhere in the middle is patchbay). - regagarding effect pedals - I use routing audio through pedal and patchbay (I don't use mixer for that). A little different setup than yours.
I found that midi through (on synths) started to introduce latency, whereas a powered splitter kept everything in sync. Also, a lot of the analog semi modular synths don’t have midi through (booooooo) I’m def getting close to running out of channels on my mixer, or at least to the point I’ll have to swap things or use my secondary mixer as a sub mixer… the main thing for me is that since I still use my DAW for final mix I want everything on its own channel going into the daw when I perform it… I can’t get around that with the deluge since it’s only a stereo out, but at least with the other stuff I want it on its own track. What’s your reason for running everything out of the mixer and back into the deluge, then back out? Is it to utilize and unify FX using the deluge? Interesting…
@@oaklandghosts0510 I use this kind MIDI through: Radias->Crave->Crave->Crave->Lemondrop and honestly I don't see any significant delay. Anyway... soon I will have MIDI splitter so no worries about that. I have bigger issues with MIDI over usb and sometime devices don't see each other (I have to go through power-on-off cycle a few times until everything works) so I decided to go fully with 5 pin MIDI.
@@oaklandghosts0510 Sorry.. I didn't notice your question about running audio through Deluge. The answer is simple: I don't need anything to go to computer. I like to sample separate tracks directly in Deluge. That is why I want to have all my audio to be routed to Deluge. My workflow is a little bit strange: 1. Compose song using internal synth and a few external synths (through separate MIDI tracks in Deluge) 2. Record/resample each audio track separately to Deluge from each external instrument (a little bit of work with that) 3. Disabling all MIDI track and using only resampled tracks 4. Final polish of tracks using Deluge (additional effects/volume/compressor/filters/etc) BTW: Mixer is additionally connected through USB to PC so ADDITIONALLY I can record in PC each track separately at the same time (8 separate channels in audio over USB) but I don't do it very often (I don't want to use PC in my music experiments).
BTW: Why don't you have patchbay? It makes life so much easier! It is a discovery that changed whole my setup and how flexible it is now. In my opinion everyone who has a few instruments and some effect pedals definitely should have a patchbay.

@@SmallWorldBigThingsya, USB midi seems to be notoriously finicky.
