They are versions, both classics in their own right: Paul's version, heavy and raucous, intentionally strained and horse and in your face. And Robins: smooth and slow, emotionally vulnerable and sentimental and sounding like he was singing in some backstreet low-lit smokey lounge smelling of perfume and cigarettes. Beautiful.
@@pugtem2945 Thank you. Yes, I've heard Elton John sing his tribute song to Robin. Robin had just passed, and right before Elton started his song he spoke about him and then said ... "Travel well, Robin!"😢
There's been a lot said about how bad this movie was - but no one ever told me that Robin Gibb recorded this song. This is breathtaking, an historic cover of a great song that transforms it into a Standard. Everyone has got to hear this. xoxo darling Robin
I agree with Chuck. Robin was A superstar in his twenties. Voice and looks. Amphetimes slowly affected his voice. And looks .... His nasty divorce. Almost ruined him. And then he got sick. I wouldn't doubt he started getting ill . As early as 50. He lost all his hair. And too much weight
@@kaythomas8521 He was probably always going to lose his hair. But I do believe his thinness and strange diet meant he didn't have any reserves to fight illness.

When I first listened to this song I was stunned. Then I listened to the Beatles version, and there was no doubt, Robin was better. I adore him.+Lynda Mugan
As Tim Rice onced put it blatantly. There is no competition for Robin whatsoever? He is the king of vibrato and tremelo. And you can take that to the bank
Precisely. A good cover version is not a 100% mimicry. It is an interpretation that makes you discover something new about the tune. Which darling Robin does to perfection
You know, I think people got this movie all wrong. It’s not really a movie at all its more of a prolonged vibe, like the kind of thing thats not really the main act that you’re meant to focus on but rather a positive textural layer to a nostalgia of the time. Also robin gibb voice is just so perfect and woeful in this.
Robin singing this made him look a thousand times more handsome like he would give u that feeling u would wish he would sing this to u lol won’t even tell him that I didn’t need him anymore😝✌🏼
This is the first time hearing Robin,singing this song.How did I miss it,I’m 70 years old,and love the Beegees,FGS.What a beautiful,beautiful recording this is.Oh,Robin💕
Paul’s rock ballad original was great, but Robin’s blue-eyed soul rendition took it to a higher level. Nobody ever conveyed emotion in a song, better than Robin.
What a *stunning* voice, Robin. So smooth, clear and effortless... beautiful, unique, and perfect. He makes it sound so easy. They absolutely don't make 'em like they used to. ❤️
Dam. This is probably. The BEST song he EVER sang. His Voice is spot ON!!!!! And NO virbratto needed. Smooth , clear. Excellent tone. How old is he here????? In his 20's???? Fabulous ❤️ Robin. Superstar

I so miss all of the Bee Gees , as a teenager and young adult I listened to their wonderful music and still do. Although it's been many years since Andy Gibb passed away he will forever be in my heart? I only wish he could have overcome his sadness and lived on. God rest his soul and God bless him. Forever a fan.
Listen to those violins! 🎻 The musical arrangement is spectacular! I love it! Rest in Paradise Robin. I long to hear you singing in heaven some day! 🎼🎶🎻🎶🎺🎶🎼💖
Most excellent my awesome bee gee dude!! Sergeant pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band got a bad rap. The movie anyway. next to Xanadu and grease I saw this movie thousands of times. Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end we sing and dance forever and a day.
Love this! I was madly in love with anything to do with the BeeGees as a teenager and was thrilled when this movie came out. This was hands down my favorite song!
Same here!!! Have it on my iPhone as. Movie! & it used to be on Netflix for a while as well! Hopefully they'll put it back up! Tired of lending my cellphone out! & to bad I don't have a VCR any longer. Otherwise we would be all watching it together! & singing our hearts out!
How could you not seriously fall in love with this? It's STUNNING. Please move over the Beatles' version. In my eyes, the mighty (and ridiculously hot) Robin Gibb owns this song. 🥰
Beautiful song, although slightly bittersweet. The first time I heard this cover was when Robin was doing well for a brief time, shortly before going into the coma just before he passed. I will never forget the blissful relief I had fleetingly felt hearing it. What a shame it was to lose this beautiful one of a kind voice.

I saw this movie in 1978 at a walk-in in Topeka, Kansas. Back then there were actually ushers in the theaters. Anyway, the usher came & asked me to please not SING SO LOUD when this song was playing. I got so embarrassed because I KNOW I CAN'T SING. But I still enjoyed myself
The Gibb brothers taking another Beatles classic and handing it back better. If you haven’t listened to Barry’s version of A Day in the Life, I highly suggest it.
Someone gave me the soundtrack in high school. I only wanted it because of Frampton and the Bee Gees. They didn't disappoint! Wish I still had that vinyl LP set.
The Beatles tried several versions of this song and could never get it right. They could never get the underlying emotion the song needed. Robin Gibb's adaptation is the only one that brings out the emotion the song was meant to convey. I never tire of hearing Robins version of this song.
I don't care what people say. I love this movie... and it's got some great covers.
Hierophantasmic true dat!
I agree I have the movie and the sound track 👍
Billy Prestons "Get Back" is the highlight of the film
I agree. It's been so long since I last saw it but I loved it, too. Gotta watch it again.
I always care what others feelings are but not to the point I do with out robin gibb and bee gees and andy gibb ✨🛸✨ and john denver
Robin’s voice was absolutely sublime, and singular in nature. There will never be another vocalist like him. May he RIP.
