Agreed. Aerosmith and Earth, Wind, and Fire also did a great job with their songs. I felt disappointed with Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and Steve Martin as that song should have been more lively and Steve needed to ham it up and we all know he can do that.
I actually enjoyed this movie. Between Dianne Steinberg helping to ramp my puberty, and getting to see Earth Wind & Fire in their prime, I have to consider this a mainstay among my guilty pleasures.
Love this movie. Watched it so many times growing up & partly because of that these covers in the soundtrack are my favorite versions of the songs. Thank you Diane for lending your beautiful voice!!!
A few of the covers in the movie were really good. I mean you’d think that a disco version of a Beatles song would sound awful yet this version has the disco sound while keeping the Beatles influence and so natural.
Nice version of the song. Dianne Steinberg acted, danced, and sang in thus movie. I wish that she had a bigger career and made more movies. This was her only movie role. Stargard were gorgeous and talented also.
I loved this movie as a kid watched it multiple times I like some of the song versions better especially Here Comes The Sun and Strawberry Fields like this one better too.
Same! Many of the movie/soundtrack versions are go-to songs for me if I'm feeling a bit down or um... wistful. I definitely prefer this version by Dianne, & Sandy Farina singing Strawberry Fields & Here Comes the Sun. I'll never understand the hate this movie gets. Even if it is a bit cheesy & quirky, that's part of why it's great, though it has an amazing cast.
I have the album and VHS. (The VHS movie was like $59 when it came out, that was a lot back then). When this movie came out I worked in a theater, I spelled the name wrong on the marquis and had to climb back up the ladder to change it. The album came with a big poster inside, I still have it.
Shondra, you nailed it!!!! I was just telling my lady that if there was ever a soundtrack to the 70s this is my #1. Every single song. Every single song.
i put this scene of the movie on repeat on my dvd, played lucy in the sky with diamond all night till dawn, even though they talking about pcp, it a beautiful song
I first saw this movie in the theaters in 1978 and I own the DVD. The original Beatles song is great and is wonderfully showcased in the movie Yellow Submarine. Dianne Steinberg just does a superb job singing and dancing this song. I could watch her perform this over and over ... Elton John also did a cover of this song and did an excellent job. Check it out.
I'm not the biggest fan of the Beatles, but covers of their songs have almost consistently been better than the originals. This is no exception: I think this cover is my favorite version of this song.
I have a Mint condition record of this album with the poster and everything and this is great I hope I can watch the movie sometime I think that would give me some more insight on the album!
As a kid my favourite band was the Beatles. I also like John William's and his orchestra. I loved the 1970s. Everything was like Xanadu. I hated the 1980s.
The producers had originally wanted Natalie Cole to play Lucy in the film but she couldn't do it because she was pregnant at the time. She did record a fantastic version of this song though.
The movie was made when stuff didn't matter!!!! Can't be bad as the rest of musical movies that are out there!! Even though you didn't get the movie how did you get the music????
I think that the movie had some flaws with the plot and script writing but several of the covers were amazing and you can tell several of the singers were enjoying being able to sing a Beatles song in their own style.
I personally like this cover far better than the Beatles' original, even though they wrote it. This song brings visions of somebody I know of who indeed has kaleidoscopic eyes, although her name is not Lucy. I'll have to share this version with her...
I watched this a lot as a little boy. The film's performances are close to my heart, but I understand the hatred of it. It's a poor homage to the Beatles artistry.
Diane Steinberg & Stargaard stole the show with this version in the movie! I'll never get tired of watching this scene!

Makes me blush! That was very nice! Just saw this! Lucy :) aka Diane Steinberg Lewis

Great Stargard input here, no credits on Wikipedia though

Dianne Steinberg made this film!!!!!!
I still love this movie!
I like her version better. You need to see sergeant peppers movie with the bee gees. All time favorite. I sing through the whole movie.
Their outfits for the win :D
Amazing version!!
Shondra, you nailed it!!!! I was just telling my lady that if there was ever a soundtrack to the 70s this is my #1. Every single song. Every single song.
I do that too, I used to be able to recite the whole thing word for word. Not a bad song on the entire album
My #1 movie I cherish always
My fave movie of all time, seen it all growing up X)
Real Music Inc yep I’ve seen it 4or 5 times never gets old
Me too 😂😂😂
One of my top favs from this movie/album. I love shiny things 🤪
I loved this movie and this soundtrack growing up. It's hard to find music like this now
jkjguhlkgu God knows that's right
LOL. The Beatles’ originals are all readily available.
My favorite movie of all time
Loved this movie , loved the cast of stars a great movie ,
i put this scene of the movie on repeat on my dvd, played lucy in the sky with diamond all night till dawn, even though they talking about pcp, it a beautiful song
I love love love this movie and soundtrack....
Oh my favorite childhood movie
i love those first few notes before she starts singing. so sweet.
I love this version of the song also one of my fave scenes in the movie
Goosebumps. I love this movie
one of my fave movies growing up! my favorite scene in the movie ❤❤
I remember this movie like it was yesterday even do I was an 11 year old kid I used to love the Bee Gees they were a great group
Me too! I was 9 and my parents bought the soundtrack. I played it just a few days ago with my daughter!
I first saw this movie in the theaters in 1978 and I own the DVD.

I loved this movie.

I don't dare to say better than the Beatles, but this is the best thing Peter Frampton, the BeeGees , and friends ever did. Ever.
Gracias ha sido un reencuentro muy agradable ¡¡
I had such a Crush on Dianne Steinberg and I was only 11
I have a Mint condition record of this album with the poster and everything and this is great I hope I can watch the movie sometime I think that would give me some more insight on the album!
This is my favorite version of this song
I love it also, but I think it's a tie between this one and Elton John's version, both are way out in front of the original version...(in my opinion)
A Classic
I have the CD and DVD of the this.
As a kid my favourite band was the Beatles. I also like John William's and his orchestra. I loved the 1970s. Everything was like Xanadu. I hated the 1980s.
got her 1974 and 1977s album. great version of this song. Wish I had Sgt Pepper album, her version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds towers
matter of time....Soon I will pass...love it!!!!
Favorite Album
the Beatles were masters at song writing!
Maybe they were um, incredibly high?
@@gregrobinson7366 Sometimes
brill version delish!
Amazing talent pics throughout the entire movie! The Beatles should give credit to all involved.
Why did my grandpa let me watch this movie with him all the time when I was like three
The producers had originally wanted Natalie Cole to play Lucy in the film but she couldn't do it because she was pregnant at the time. She did record a fantastic version of this song though.
Natalie lucked out
The movie version is the coolest! I like it even better than the original and I love the original version made by The Beatles!
I like the girlband (The Ronettes, etc) approach they took with this song!
Valium was still in style kids, that's partly why this turkey got made:)
🖤MAGICK!!!🖤
The movie wasn’t the Best But some of the covers were really good and this is the best one of all in the movie. Come Together is the second best.

Why no clip from the movie of this song?
W ah Movie
who's playing the bass? amazing!!

@@longandwindingroad - You dick.
wilbur bascomb
The Bee Gees along with Peter Frampton Barry , Robin and Peter were playing bass/guitars while Maurice was playing the drums 😊
@@Eileen2204 Don't believe the hype. Frampton played a lot of guitar parts but the rest of the parts are performed by many amazing session musicians
Fuck what anyone says this movie was actually good
I think that the movie had some flaws with the plot and script writing but several of the covers were amazing and you can tell several of the singers were enjoying being able to sing a Beatles song in their own style.

Steinberg was the main reason an 8 year old boy paid attention to this movie
Elton John
ヨーコさん、ご苦労様です。
does anyone else feel like the bee gees did better than the beatles?🤐🙈
No
Absolutely lol
In my own opinion, yes they did in in their own style of music...
They did do better than the Beatles
Absolutely. The movie introduced me to the album and band, prefer this over actual album
LSD
Which Strawberry Fields must have been on when she saw the billboard figures come to life and sing this song!
この頃のミュージシャンは、ビートルズに質の良いポップス書かないと大変な拷問が待ってたんだよ。

I watched this a lot as a little boy. The film's performances are close to my heart, but I understand the hatred of it. It's a poor homage to the Beatles artistry.
This slow-disco interpretation is lousy, and nowhere near Elton John's version, but it is more tuneful than William Shatner's cover. :D
I like this version because it does give off a 70s disco vibe and the vocals are pretty hypnotizing.
The Beatles really did better than this version... A cover will never beat an original. My opinion
This song has not aged well even with the Beatles version. This remake should never have seen the light of day
I actually can't tell if that's a dude or a lady singing the song
AWFUL!
this is terrible
the bee gees ruined a bunch of beatles songs.
With a little help from their friends!
But this cover is one of the best from the movie.
