The Bee Gees are three of my music heroes and they looked really cute in this movie and they did the best renditions of Beatles songs I ever heard and who cares what everybody else says about this movie it was a good '70s movie nonetheless no matter what anybody says

I love everything about this movie! Saw it 20+ times at the theater when it came out. Had the album, a t-shirt, and even rare collectible cards. As cheesy as it is, this is a great collaboration of awesome people in this film. And they really did justice to the Beatles music. Great movie!

I came here to enjoy a cover of a lovely song by a lovely himan being with an incredible singing voice.
I have found out, through these comments, that Sandy Farina, the person whose voice illuminated this song, has sadly passed away.
Rest in Paradise, Sandy. As much as I love to clown on this movie as well as ironically enjoy it, your dulcet tones were always appreciated in bringing these musical masterpieces to life.
Much love to you, your family, friends, and loved ones. Gone way too soon.

I loved her in this movie, she really seemed to embody an innocence and freshness without even trying - even though it was out in 78, for some reason I didn't notice it until it was on tv in 1981, I was 19. Even though it's been criticized for not being that deep or whatever, personally I found it to be light, relaxing, and fun to watch, my favorite scene is where everything is reversed 😊

America was NEVER the way it's portrayed in this movie! It's a fantasy. Certainly America in 1978 wasn't like this. Actually the over-the-top wholesomeness of the home town comes across as parody, the same way the ridiculously evil bad guys are caricatures. None of it is meant to be taken seriously. It's supposed to be a joke.

💥In retrospect, there's really nothing wrong with the silly script as it really IS a silly film.
The problem is not the movie itself but how it was hyped up and so grandeurly introduced to the media & public.
Just before production began, It was heralded as the "Gone With The Wind" of the 70's!😳 Holy Crapo! Even now in 2021, nothing comes close to that 1940s Epic!
So everyone was anticipating a more serious musical extravaganza and not kid-humor cartoonish cliché stuff.
Second, the pressure was on Frampton's & The BEE GEES's Beatles' performances.
Of course, they will never satisfy Beatles fans despite George Martin's first hand arrangements & production, especially the Gibbs still fresh from the SNF soundtrack phenomena. To Fab Four fans, it was sacrilegious to even emulate such a legendary album & catalogue, to the outside audience, it was mixed reviews.
But because the audience felt cheated & ridiculed by expecting what the movie was hyped for, only to be on the caliber of downright silly everything like the Airplane or Hot Shots franchise where you're not suppose to mind the story and just enjoy the soundtrack & some visuals & gags, and that's it!
Word of mouth was fierce as a pre-ordered 3 million initial ordered shipping of the double album vinyl became bargain bin fillers after 3 wks of theater release. Also, although the soundtrack faired quite well with Robin's jazzy R&B version of Oh, Darling! went to Top 15, it was a downward spiral after that since the public has heard enough of the negativity and just wanted out.
I must admit that Frampton's The Long and Winding Road can stand side by side with Paul's with Peter's solo lead, but Barry's A Day In A Life was just too loose of an arrangement (even more loose than the original) and that sound together with the other renditions without tight arrangements just won't hold in the late 70's. That's exactly the reason why Aerosmith's Come Together & EW&F Got to Get...were the only (2) saving grace tracks in the album. You can play them now and they will still sound fresh and undated.
Frampton was actually on the way out when the movie came out and his last hit I'm In You was already stale in the public's ears, which i honestly felt became a hit due to the spill of his ...Comes Alive monster album.
If Frampton came out with at least a Top 10 song from his next studio album after Pepper (Where I Belong), it may have kept him afloat for a little while more, but the album didn't even enter the Top 100.
The BEE GEES actually came out unscathed as a 'paradox' happened.
While both critics & the public were vomiting on the thought of the Pepper movie, millions all over the world were simultaneously embracing the their new studio album 'Spirits [Having Flown]'.
It spawned (3) No.1 hits in the US to connect with their previous (3) No. 1s from the SNF soundtrack. So, they were enjoying the best of times while in the midst of that is the worst of movies, not so much of the movie itself, but the way it was misleadingly introduced to the public --- ■

This version of this song is an abomination. Musically speaking. Sandy Farina is just ok vocally but the bass line is so obnoxiously bad. It hurts my ears. The same is true for the entire soundtrack which is a musical embarrassment as well as abomination.
In spite of this, as a kid when I saw the film in the theater I loved it, didnt know any better and more importantly I developed an instant mega childhood crush on Sandy Farina seeing her for the first time in the film. I remember this scene vividly and I remember those magical butterflies I felt in my stomach everytime she appeared on screen. I can almost feel them once again watching this for the first time in over 40 years in spite of my contempt for adaptation of the song.
