The only part people really need to see is the spider gear placement haha.

Matt's daughter is a lucky girl. Not only did her father stress test the 3rd member of the truck finding the weakness thus preventing HER from breaking down somewhere and getting stranded, he fixed it too.

Matt did an awesome job of fixing this differential. The only thing I miss is the story how it got broken in the first place. Also, I bet Austin was hoping to see Matt’s daughter again….

You should have installed a limited slip. So it doesn't get stuck in a mud puddle. VERN.

I just replaced my bearings and seals in a Hummer H2 and the spider gears fell out. It was very frustrating getting them back in. They also had a wear ring that kept falling off too.

  • @Doomzdayxx

Im a bit confused. My spider ears fell out. So I did put them back in, and of course they are lined up with the pin, and the retaining screw is in there, but I cannot get the axles to turn, they're just always moving free, no matter that the drive shaft is doing. Are there particular gears the spider gears need to ride on or what??

should take about 5 minutes to put the spider gears back in. center everything, then drop one in from the top and slap the other one up with your right hand, now rotate the drive shaft with your left hand untill they line up with pin

If you had a Ford nine-inch, you could have done this on the bench and not on your back under the car. If you had a Dana 60, it wouldn’t have broken at all.

If you finagle one up top and hold it in place over the axle gears you can smack the hell out of the bottom one and it will pop in place as long as it’s all lined up. Then just rotate the whole thing enough til she’s in place and bolt her down. You ain’t gonna cause enough damage to these gears by manhandling them, don’t be afraid to give ‘em a solid whack or two. Don’t go crazy and grab a deadblow or anything but a firm palm heel strike will do you
