This look so easy I have 04 gmc yukon my spider gear is bad this shop said it will take 2 days and the labor will be $475 to put on after me seeing this video I'm not no mechanic but I think I can do this great video
Thanks for video BUT I put my spider gears back in and all is tight. But when I turn the axle is there supposed to be a little play on the spider gears ?
Does having the bearing caps removed make a difference? I can't get my spiders gears in place as I can't seem to get my side gears pushed in enough to allow the spider gears to sit lower on side gears.
I get the just of the video. However, if you're going to teach someone how to install the used spider gears to it the right way. First. Look at the side gears teeth and find the side gear that mimics the ring gear, drive coast. The drive side will have more wear. Now install it on the passenger side and the one on the passenger side to the drive side. The pinion gears should be flipped 180 too. This will allow the pinion gears to drive on what was the coast side of the spider gears. Increasing the life of used spider gears.
@@spelunkerd, Let's say you have a posi or open carry. Rotating the spider gears must be done exactly. Driver's side side gear to passenger side. Passenger side to Driver's side. Pinion gear closest to cross shaft bolt moved to opposite side farthest away. Farthest away spider gear moved closest to cross shaft pin bolt. This will allow cause the spider gears to drive now on the coast side instead of continuously driving on the drive side. Coast side of the gears will have less wear. If the spiders are extremely worn then best to replace them.
@@richardspaulding5035 Yep, that's why, Why people sell a used 12 bolt car or truck rearend they want 500.00 to 800.00 when all you have to start with is a bare housing. Everything else is worn out.

you must know how to time the gears. this should take five minutes max. rotate the prop till the small pin bolt is centered between the main bearing caps. now simply drop a spider gear down from top and slap the other. hold the bottom one up and rotate the prop till the main pin holes will line up.
They are a pain in the ass without the proper tools when putting in however when you use a dissolve stitches to pull the spider gear in so it doesn’t fall out it makes thing a lot easier
I watched 5 other videos that didn't show me how to actually install the spider gears. Thank you for an actual how to install video!
Brother - Your video save me today - Spider gears got loose while rebuilding my Van rear end differential at home-Thank YOU!!
My man! You are a lifesaver! Thank you

So glad this video was made going crazy trying to figure that out .
Thanks. I needed to know that as I had lost the spider on one and did not know how to put it back in place.
Thanks, you showed me what I needed. Might talk a bit louder next video.
You made it look easy. Hope it works that way for me.

Fuck gotta love u tube and people uploading these videos, tks
Thanks!! Needed this!!
Does it matter if you mix those two spider gears like do you have to put the top gear back on top and bottom back on bottom
Good video, you should really put some thread locker on the shaft bolt
Where do all the washer go with the spider gears in the differential gear kit?
This was very helpful thanks a lot.
Thx. Good demonstration

Small amount
How did the gears not fall out when you replace the splines
Good job bro, great video 👍

how did you end up getting this done, having the same issue

Oh, so you are rotating the gears so long term wear is even, much like rotating tires to get longer life. Cool.

My dam truck is 40 years old, I am not worried about how much longer the gears will last will last LOL.

learning and will try it on my own save 2000
Awesome!
Does the baring cap need to be removed before putting the spider gear in? Please help 😅
No. It does not. However, if you’ve rounded off the hex on your lock bolt you can’t get a ratchet with socket in there to remove it.
Sir how to order 8.6 gm spider gear set 10 bolts?
I need for Chevrolet Silverado 1500
MY 2000
Thanks for the video
Nice video. Thanks much!
Awesome video
I’m trying to get my center pin out but the ring gear doesn’t let it come out all the way.
Why would the spyder gear shaft break
I really love this video cool
If i have my truck in jack stands and put it on drive only one rear tire spins is that normal ?
Depends if its open or locker or lsd

"Side gears" are actually called planetary gears. "Spider gears" are called sun gears.
there is two washer beside the two small gears, this way is difficult operate in a real truck
06:12 You didnt tight the spyder gear pin retainer at all.. Geeee..
Man if I knew this I would never got myself in this mess
Did ya fix the mess?
you forgot the washers on inside of the side gears
I think I see em already on ?
Don't take your car axle to this dude
I call bullshit it's not that easy it just doesn't go in!
