  • A live version of the song, lifted from a 1979 concert recording, was included as a b-side to Blondie's 1995 re-issued single "Union City Blue." King Crimson and longtime Blondie friend, Robert Fripp is also on guitar for this performance.
    * Donna Summer may your journey continue on! *
Debbie is currently promoting her long awaited memoir Face It & Blondie is working on new music once again with producer John Congleton (Pollinator) for 2020!

David Bowie said Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" was the song that altered the course of dance music forever, moving away from disco and toward techno. No one could never return to true disco again. One of my favorites for the last 35 years!!

I was completely shocked to find out some friends of mine that are into Rock LIKED "I Feel Love". I don't know how many times I danced to that song in the '70's, '80's and beyond. It's DEFINITELY my favorite song by Donna Summer.

I remember when Blondie's "Heart of Glass" started getting airplay in '79, it was reported that people were calling radio stations asking for the new Donna Summer song. DJ's had to explain that it was not Donna but a new band called Blondie.

The more I listen to this, the more brilliant I think it is.
Yes, it's obviously Donna Summer's song... but Blondie covering it is the ultimate in 1979 new wave/disco irony.
So few people "got" how arch and sassy the Blondie approach was. Picking I Feel Love as the encore cover song is hilarious and perfect, affectionate and condescending at the same time.
    AWESOME.

And that the band Blondie covered songs by such varied artists as Cole Porter, T Rex , the Marvellettes , John Holt , Randy & the Rainbows, the Shangri - Las , and Johnny Cash . But this rarely heard live version featuring Robert Fripp on guitar is stunning.. ( Fripp made seminal music with Brian Eno which was a different genre, also amazing). The guitar contribution of Fripp is really interesting. It is always a pleasure to hear the master in action!

Blondie played a version of this at the Blitz Benefit at CBGB in May, 1978, sometimes known as the US punk Woodstock. I heard it on a poor quality audience recording and they did it with a different arrangement. But when they started playing it you heard people in the crowd saying things like "Disco?" and "It's a disco song!" somewhat in disbelief. Cool moment.
