Truly one of the greatest Irish punk bands that have ever existed.I got to meet to Tony, and had a drink with him,and the rest of the band when they came to Fort Lauderdale last March. They were really nice guys!!
I heard about the tossers at a dropkick Murphys show in Vegas and saw them at a Renaissance fair later that year. . Amazing show and they deserve all of the accolades they get.. I'm now a huge fan. . Keep it up
I first heard them when they played at Mary's Place in Rockford IL with Psychobilly Kadillaks (who I had seen there before) opening. My friend's little brother's wife was friends with a girl in the band from college. That was the night Kenny punched Chickenbone in the face, and Chickenbone was banned from the bar, while Kenny was welcomed back in.
First heard em on a tape that Jason (a coworker at Victory) brought to work to play in the warehouse on Fulton, well before the Tossers were even on the label back in 1996... Buckets of Beer was the song. Having already been a huge Pogues fan I immediately dug these guys. But it did always seem a bit silly to me that a bunch of Chicago-born kids were affecting an Irish brogue. And more particularly so in this case -- a song called 'USA' (which strangely starts off by Wentworth and Cermak (i.e. the center of Chinatown here). Long walk from there to Western Ave in Beverly BTW 🤪😉🇮🇪 🍺☘
This describes my childhood so well - just I’m from Portland, not Chicago. That and I’m the brother who went of to war (Afghanistan sucks, to anyone who didn’t know that already).
*Lyrics:* I was born in the USA Born on the south side of Chicago town And on warm summer nights we would all gather 'round Away from Irish parents eyes In the dark with lovers and friends Hoping it would never end Smokin' weed and drinkin' brew Loyalty was what you knew We were born in the USA Everyone know each other and they all know you The cops the fire the brickies too And the night when the lights go out From each house you can hear the sound Of fights and passion all around So have a drink and sit with me You're all invited to be free When my brothers went off to the war With may kids we knew before We saw the pictures on the news Of people dying in the street Pools of blood on the concrete Many times I've prayed before To bring those kids home from this war We were born in the USA Well where you are from nobody cares Unless you are from over there Still you're welcomed in houses by us all With Mayor Daley on the wall Our lady, J.F.K., them all We will break our bread with you Because we are nobodies fool We were born in the USA We were born in the USA We were born in the USA
This video is filmed in Chinatown in Chicago, and the Beverly area, I've actually gotten drunk in cork and Kerry which is owned by my cousin, when he says you know everyone and they all know you its 100% true
Was raised in the most anti Irish town in Texas was always made fun of for being Irish and Catholic. Me and my family were the only Irish family wish I had known other Irish people growing up.
Nothing better than being a Celtic American. May have had a rough upbringing, but no one is more loyal, fierce, and loving than folks of Celtic decent. We have more life experience than your typical American.
I have a theory, a gay theory, on why. This is from the Tosser wikipeida page, adn it quotes "The band pre-dates more well-known Celtic punk bands such as the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, which formed in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Their latest full-length album, entitled The Emerald City, was released on March 5, 2013." So, my guess is they were a bit late to the Celtic Rock getting popular.
is it a bad thing, or good thing, to not be able to understand the lyrics based on hearing the song. (generaly, i'm not talking about absotles) i can't tell what the Tossrs are on about, becuase i don't ever listen to Cetlic Rock songs until 2 months ago. But the lryics are easy to follow, this one is aobut USA, and how people are super connected to each other, how much we like the militayr, sharing and figures like JFK. I might be wrong, because unlike Rumjack's videos, this one doesn't have a "Ok dumbass, this is what the song means, so the thick heads could compreh this song without thinking abuot it too hard." descpriton.
Mister Pleaser pretty fuckin obvious. they basically named everything chicago from mayor daley to the douche with the cubs jersey. ill take a stab in the dark and say its about chicago and the USA. its 1 song
Thought i'd drop by for the obligatory "like" on the "new" account (they actually reinstated the old account a while back, but i've just stuck with this one)
As someone who's not American or Irish, lyrics seem really stupid and cheap to me. But the melodies in this song , damn, those melodies are priceless. Im simply in love with the melodies of this song.

randyhandbag I'll probably be lynched for this, but I like this guy better than the Pogues. However, I agree the accent is a bit silly.
