I love how this has captured a real Irish wake, it really is all about remembering with love, singing, getting drunk and telling funny story's of the person's life. This is how I want sending off.
My father passed just over a week ago. These guys and so many more were bands i was raised on because of him. He served twice in iraq, he was the punkiest punk anyone ever punk'd. We miss ya Jameson ❤
This song reminds me of my Father. Growing up with Irish roots I just love this. People can't understand how I love the bagpipes, but this is an AUTHENTIC IRISH STYLE SONG. THANKS DKM!
I always come back to this song every so often, it always brings a smile to my face. Cheers from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 and love to all my Irish American brothers and sisters ☘️
Seen them front row in Michigan, yard tix in Michigan, bleacher seats in Boston! Amazing life long memories at their shows! Everyone who sees them with me feels the same! Shower me down with whiskey!
Why are these guys my favorite band? Because their music is just so fucking great at bringing people together! It does not matter where you are from America, Britain, Australia. Be proud of any small amount of Irish in you! I know I am!
First time I ever heard this song was 3 years ago. I was stuck in a winter traffic jam on the E6 highway north of Oslo Norway going to celebrate christmas with my family. I was stressed and angry at the traffic and THIS song came on the radio (I never heard it again on the radio). I blasted full volume and started ''dancing'' behind the wheel.. Thanks DKM for cheering up that crappy situation and for me to discover this band!
In the song rose tatoo, there is a line: 'i saw beauty to the north' then youll notice in the music video they show: 1.celtic cross But then 2. Soke Hyperborean map We are all cousin folk, all nord/celtic/gaelic men; even tho scotsman tho he forgets it!
It still amazes me DKM got permission to film that scene at Fenway Park, apparently people scattering loved ones' ashes is a real problem in those sorts of places.
I’m Irish decent, I was adopted when I was 5, but I’ve always knew I belonged in Ireland. This song makes me feel so proud of my heritage, balls to people who don’t like it, let’s go out in style!!!! Irish style!!!
"I could really give a shit I'm going out in style" are words to live by in these times. I whisper it to myself every day before I start the fuckery of the day... Thank you DKM'Ys
I've been a fan of The Murphys for a while but not a huge fan, until I got a chance to see them live in Atlantic City. Anyone that enjoys their music needs to see them live. It was the best concert I have ever attended.
These guys are not mainstream but they have the most loyal following! Saw them last night. They were awesome and they mixed new songs with the old, they won't sellout.
The only thing better than the utter chaos of a DkM show is their ridiculous and unhinged videos! Lost count of how many times I have seen these guys, always a good time! Slainte!
Great Song , Great Video .. Dropkick Murphys is one of the best bands of our times , very good feeling , Irish punk mood , beer taste and a very cute pink hair girl singing the tune! Long Live Dropkick Murphys , Long Live Irish music , cheers from Athens ! We're waiting , please come and play for us here..
Hope everyone enjoyed yesterday because I did too! I was singing this all early afternoon yesterday and at night, I was partying at my local Irish pub DJ was playing a mixed track of Saint Pat rock songs and this song was one of them. I was thinking this song was not gonna be on the track list, but I’m glad it was.
Damn, this is a decade old? I always thought of this as "the new Dropkick Murphys album." I have fond memories of buying it off iTunes the year after I graduated high school without ever reading a review or hearing any tracks on it; Then again, I guess I graduated in 2011, so I guess both this album and I are old.
This is my favorite song from the Dropkick Murphys. The best band in Boston and the whole United States. And that's not because I'm from Massachusetts either! I have loved Punk Rock since 1980. A lot of you guys probably weren't even born. Back then. I was only 20 years old. Those were the days.
My childhood chum Big Mikey just passed. Just made it past his 27th birthday on St. Paddy’s day. So now I’m bawling and drinking stout, listing to this one in honor of one of my favorite trouble makers.
saw these guys 3/14/2012 at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA. Incredible, the most enthusiasm I've ever seen from a band or an audience, especially so close to St Paddy's Day and tight under Fenway "Pahk". Best band ever. Could read their set list from where I was standing, my ears bled from the volume, and got to bump fists with my boxing idol the Pride of Lowell Irish Micky Ward. Incredible experience, if you get the chance to see DKM live, DO IT. Erin Go Bragh.
Im drunk as hell while writing this, but I WANT this song at my funeral. I dont want none of this sappy somber mood bullshit at my funeral. Let my friends tell the stories, good and bad and with a few drinks in their hands. I want them there to give me one last hooraah, not a quiet word for my soul. Give them an open bar and a picture of me in my normal clothes and a real smile, not one of those plastic grins while I sweat in a tuxedo.
thats the only way to go, i got a full bar in my party bus (i got a old RV with enough booze to get a small village wastrd) and if i died tonight id want that bus empty by morning
You know what i love about dkm, with all the traditional irish folk songs they do, they create just as many originals that i really do believe will live on as new generation folk for many many years to come, like this one, ken casey will always go down as one of my favorite performers.
dropkick videos always look fun as fuck because they actually WERE fun as fuck. they just pile all of their goofy friends & family in a bar with music blasting. it's refreshing to watch videos that don't have paid actors, extras etc to pretend like they're having fun. i love your silly asses, my fellow mickies!
Whoever *doesn't* get a smile out of this song - or any other Dropkick Murphys song for that matter - clearly has issues, and can go jump in a hole someplace as far as I'm concerned.

All I remembered was that it's scottish or irish, that it was kinda cheerful, so I thought it was for a birthday and the last thing I knew was that there were people singing and drinking in a bar. I want this played at my wedding as my last song of freedom with my boys and then at my funeral for all the memories and smiles shared, with friends, family and those who’ve become strangers along my life
What heritage is that, exactly? That your great-great-grandfather once took a shit in Dublin, then moved the family to that racist shithole of a city you call Boston, and suddenly you're reminiscing about the good old days in Ireland that you never experienced?
No- My ancestors were dragged across the world to a penal colony in Australia - we are now though living the large life as a result - so thanks for the suffering by our forebears!
Brian has made the list. "Fallen Heroes" This is a list of very special people that we all hold close and dear to us. Hope you're doing okay brother.
@@damiensmith937 I'll hope that to!
3 years ago, this song was played on my brothers funeral. He was only 50, we still miss him. R.I.P.
Sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry...
Sorry for your loss but I bet he's smiling when you played it
🥃🥃
Sorry for your loss bro
If they don't play this at my funeral, I ain't going.
me neither; it'll be "regrets only"
Fuck yeah 🎉
Absolutely agree 💯
Ditto.

Drunk alone on a Friday night with great memories of friends laid to rest, too many awesome people to have left us all so young!
For sure.
My man, I'm right there with you. But at least these boys give us a beautiful song to remember them.
RIP my beautiful son! James 2/21/88-11/10/23
damn, one day younger than me. rip your son
Im sorry...but glad he went out in style...I'm sure he is throwing parties and mom's first drink is on him!
Horrid. So young.
My condolences
Very sorry.

I love how this has captured a real Irish wake, it really is all about remembering with love, singing, getting drunk and telling funny story's of the person's life. This is how I want sending off.
This was VERY different (and look'd fun) from a Swedish funeral.
My father passed just over a week ago. These guys and so many more were bands i was raised on because of him. He served twice in iraq, he was the punkiest punk anyone ever punk'd. We miss ya Jameson ❤
Sorry for your lost
Sounds like the man was an absolute LEGEND nice.👍
I've got major health issues. But I'm going out with this....in Jesus name
Damn, full blown AIDS must be tough to live with..... but pounding all that sweet sweet man ass was probably worth it
Hope you're okay though!
I'm not even Irish and I'd want this played at my funeral haha
Dropkick Murphys are awesome
Amen!!!
This will be at my funeral. Hope you're still alive mate

My plan is to live forever, if not, going out in style will work just fine.
Boys, under the hour of war, your punk rock gives you the strength to live. Good luck, I look forward to following your work. Thank you!
Missed the opportunity to play this at my Dad's celebration of life last October! He would have loved it! Unexpected death at age 49, gone too soon.
Brit here, from South Yorkshire. Irish friend sent me this. Jesus where was this my entire life listening to punk?

This is sooooooo very Irish! Talking about your wake as though you’re an active participant. That’s how a good wake really is!
I love how optimistic Irish songs are. The Dropkick Murphys can make an optimistic song about dying. We need more music like that.
I agree

DILLIGAF. A strong philosophy among Irish people I've met over the years.
I actually used this song at my husbands funeral. Everyone hated it. Didn't care. It was my 36 year old husbands last wish.
