Yes. Practice. I rarely have my stone perfect on the dop. I adjust at the cutting.

If you want quality rough look for mativie opal on Facebook. It's not cheap, but it's consistent and predictable. And she's great to work with.

Wish I could do this, it's been a dream to do. Unfortunately, money is tight and family and bills take priority
Alot of people go the dremel route. It's not too expensive to get started. I didn't have the patience for that.
