(Either Gregory's out of some sort of feeling that as the current heir to the von Karma name, it's her "duty" to try and smooth things over with him, or Manfred's out of a desire to force some answers out of him and/or give him a piece of her mind)
You're onto something here. I've been thinking of making a vid of Manfred having a face to face with either Gregory or Franziska, and what you're saying is quite interesting on putting Franziska's pov about her dad to the test.
The tone and characterization is absolutely pitch perfect, and the way Gant ties into the testimony is flawless. Great stuff, I would easily accept this as canonical
While the game does insinuate that Greggy accused Yogi simply because he wanted to protect his son, this video is such a good way to portray Greg's undying passion for the truth even after death only to be misinterpreted by the corrupt Justice System. And the fact that it was young Damon Gant that tampered with Greggy boy's testimony makes this perfect. He is definitely the type of person to do this.

Yes. Somewhere in the comments I have a disclaimer where I explain that Young Badd didn't exist at the time. I made him some time later (if you see my other vid The Fate of Tyrell Badd, there he appears with his young sprites because I decided to rip them myself :p)
I love that Gregory was so in character here. While the possibility of his killer being Yogi was high, he refused to accused him of it unless there was definitive evidence of it. A true seeker of the truth! Even more so that he deduced that the missing bullet was decisive evidence
This makes it look like Damon is a good guy and wanted to find Gregory's murderer but due to the circumstances his accusation was the one that destroyed many people's lives
Damon Gant already gave hints during Rise from the Ashes that he acted the way he did because he had to ensure guilty verdicts against criminals who would otherwise escape the law. Same thing was going to happen with Joe Darke until he pinned Neil Marshall's murder on him
That is some damn fine weaving, especially since it relies on characterization that was established after the original game. The notion that Gregory Edgeworth would never out-and-out accuse Yanni Yogi without something solidifying his belief, even if it meant solving his own murder, and the fact that he knew more than one bullet had to have been fired took a lot of piecing together. Even I would have struggled to mesh all that so elegantly and I usually consider myself fairly astute on the timeline of the Ace Attorney series.
Nice! I always assumed Gregory just honestly believed Yanni was the one who shot him, since it was dark in the elevator and the last thing he would have heard was "I'll make you stop breathing my air!" But Grant's interference is 100% plausible. You also gave me another idea for a What If scenario. What if Edgeworth was taken in by Detective Badd instead of Von Karma.

This is an interesting take on the channeling of Gregory Edgeworth! The writing is very good. Also young Gant jumpscare! I like to think that Gregory _did_ point on Yogo, because it makes for a great parallel with Skye sisters! And Justine with Phoenix, to a lesser extent. (Alternatively, he could have refused to believe it was Miles and wouldn't be able to see the crime, leading him to believe there were only three of them.) I really enjoyed your take, though! Gant being there... Considering that Chief Prosecutor that gave Manfred penalty was most likely Blaise, it would make all three of them in some way being responsible for messing up lives-ruined-by-DL6. Especially Fey sisters (all four, arguably) and Miles!
The only unrealistic thing here is that Gregory Edgeworth mentions a conflict of interest. Those don't exist in Ace Attorney! Take that! On a more serious note... Debastian Sebeste, you never fail to impress. I truly mean this. The way you portray the characters is almost impossibly true to their actual personalities. This is...VERY interesting. I really like that your videos (canon or not) really excel at giving this universe effective worldbuilding through perspectives we've taken for granted. Kinda feels like what this whole series is about... I have ONE thing to question, however: Was Gant really that corrupt or callous back then? Throughout Rise From the Ashes, there were a few lines of dialogue (most notably the Judge at the end) point out how Gant used to be a shining example of what to be in the force. He also only got his seedy reputation after SL-9. Don't get me wrong, I DO love that you emphasize the fact the Gant did this BECAUSE he wanted to catch a "criminal who was escaping the law" in his eyes. I just have doubts as to whether he was actually corrupt back then.
See, that's why I love comments like this. As I was thinking on an answer, I started wondering: when did Gant get corrupt? Obviously before this, if I follow my vid's logic. Then why did he become corrupt if he was a shining example before? Did something happen that made him turn to the dark side? Some case where an arrested criminal escaped justice in court and came back to haunt him? Did he lose someone to said criminal? All in all, Gant's backstory on when and why he became corrupt is an interesting concept on its own that's just begging to be explored. To answer your question, I honestly don't know if canonically Gant was already corrupt or not at the time of the DL-6. But given the lack of detailed info on his past, I think I can safely assume he *could* have become corrupt a little time earlier to the DL-6. And that his corrupt actions merely went unnoticed until the SL-9 incident and Phoenix. Simple assumptions aimed to serve the vid's needs tbh.
I don’t think there’s any reason to assume Gant because corrupt all at once. Cut some corners here, overlook shaky evidence there, (we definitely know von Karma was up to his tricks at this point. It’s possible Gant never suspected him, but if he did, wouldn’t it have been beneficial for his own record to look the other way?) smooth out a testimony to create a clearer narrative, it’s all in the name of justice, right? Crime is so rampant in the AA universe that they end up having to mandate three day trials. I imagine things would be pretty rough on the police side as well. Even if you put your all into a case, there’ll be three more this week, five more next week, and the next week, and the next week, and the next week, forever. I can see how someone might start to let things slide just to get through the day. I’d think Gant could be at that point by DL-6 while still having a good reputation and feeling justified in his actions. It’s a long way from there to straight up murdering a member of your own team to get leverage over a subordinate. Gant had a long way to fall. Sorry for butting in, btw, I love discussing character stuff like this.
@@debastiansebeste True but it would still be interesting if Von Karma reunited with the ghost of the man he murdered telling him after everything that's happened he failed to win against him and his son
Only just found this but I honestly find it interesting that you had Gant appear and only did his actions because he thought Yogi was guilty and didn't want him to get away (when in reality; he was wrong.)
I love it, the short story is amazing! I do have one critique, however. The text seems a bit faster than canon, it felt off with the suspense of music while reading it, if that makes any sense..? xD If it's even possible to adjust the timing of the prompts, abt a millisecond or less slower might make all elements fit a bit better. Might just be my personal preference though, idrk :p Either way, you do an amazing job with these videos nonetheless!
Many thanks for the input! I have set the text to be a bit faster for practical reasons. After all, this is a video and not a playable game, so I've made the text faster to reduce the video duration, but not too fast so the audience can keep up with reading the text. Maybe if it was slower it would fit more to the games? But since this wasn't part of the game, I thought of taking this freedom xD
@@debastiansebeste Ah, that makes a lot of sense! I imagine it saves quite a bit of space too, and time, when it comes to the conversion. That's smart. I never really seen something quite like your way of separating the game content from fan content, but now that I know what it is, it's a very cool and very unique style! Thanks for the clarification :)
Though...for this scene, you should be using a younger Tyrrell Badd from the IS-7 case since after the conclusion of the trial which lasted at least a year where Jeff Masters was found guilty of accomplice of murder, DL-6 happened later on not to long. So Badd should still be how he looks in the flashback in Inherited Turnabout

The problem with someone taking the law in their own hands, you never know when you might end up being wrong 😔
@@debastiansebeste Yep 😔

Amazing video
Though...for this scene, you should be using a younger Tyrrell Badd from the IS-7 case since after the conclusion of the trial which lasted at least a year where Jeff Masters was found guilty of accomplice of murder, DL-6 happened later on not to long.
So Badd should still be how he looks in the flashback in Inherited Turnabout
Lemme copy the answer I wrote someone else who wondered the same thing:
This problem happened because the only young Tyrell Badd I could find on Discord had 2 poses (Idle and Glare) so I couldn't use him. And after making Misty Fey and young Gant from scratch, I couldn't force myself to rip and animate young Badd as well, so I decided to go with the older one for my own sake. My apologies xD
BURY THIS MAN IN LIKES!!!!!
A cool video! But there is problem with Badd. During the timeline he looked younger.
Indeed. But the only young Badd I could find on Discord had 2 poses (Idle and Glare) so I couldn't use him. And after making Misty Fey and young Gant from scratch, I couldn't force myself to rip and animate young Badd as well, so I decided to go with the older one. My apologies xD
@@debastiansebeste No need to apologize. Stuff happens.
So, it's that all Gant's fault?
According to me at least, it's my headcanon :p
Interesting…
oooo where u got that mystic misty spirit btw?
Made it myself by combining her mugshot with SoJ Maya's sprites (and tons of editing to animate her)
@@debastiansebeste Btw when i wrote that comment , iam not full watching the vids.
Dayyum the plot twist that gant is connected with this.....
IS BRILLIANT!
@@WatatsukiNoToyohime Glad you liked it!
Hey, can I tell you something?
Grandpa, by that I mean Gregory and Grandma, Misty are the biological parents of Aunt Mia, Papa and Aunt Maya.
Grandpa Greg didn't deserve to die, and neither did Misty nor Mia 😔
@@debastiansebeste Aunt Maya once channeled Grandpa, Grandma and Aunt Mia for me so I can meet them.
Please I beg Grant code
He's still incomplete (gotta fix a bunch of mistakes and add more poses). I'll be adding him on Discord when he's done ;)
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great stuff sir! Also how do I join the discord?
It's called Untitled Courtroom, objection lol's discord. I'm sending an invite if youtube doesn't shadow delete it

@@debastiansebeste ok I got it now. Thank you sir!
you have altered my view of canon
