Thank you for posting this. I started fasting for a 24 hour period once a week several months ago. I have a tendency to over eat fairly regularly, so this was an attempt to learn self control. I've gotten better about eating less recently, but I think the side effect is that I've been getting migraines from the fasting. Might be time to move on.
I like intermittent fasting more than full day fasting but there are also many nuances to fasting that need to be considered so that you can optimize outcomes and avoid side effects
@@MigraineProfessional I struggle more to maintain intermittent fasting, but I think overall it would be better for me. I'm pretty muscular for my size, and I know muscle takes a lot of calories to maintain
I am 43 years an I suffer with migraines headache from as long as I can remember an yes my migraines headache are caused by skipping meals , exposure to direct sunlight, bright lights, noise , alcohol, an stress . But i refuse to take tablets I use mussel rubs an a damp cloth over my eyes .
I am a vegetarian. Off late I have reduced eating dairy as well, once in a while I have either tea with milk or coffee with milk. My triggers are chocolate, red wine (any alcohol) , heat, sleep less than 8-9 hours, period and sometimes I don't even know the triggers. I have minimum one migraine attack of 3-4 days during my periods and can go upto 2 or 3 times in a month. Everytime I have a migraine, I am non-functional for about 3-4 days and it's almost like I need to start over everything . I want to do intermittent fasting to reduce visceral fat, I am about 10 kilos more than the weight at which I used to feel comfortable with myself, like not having to pant when I take the stairs. I started with IF a while ago for about a month (10 hour fast) 1. It did not help reduce my weight. 2. Next time I got a migraine, my schedule was all out of whack and I had to start all over again creating an everyday schedule for myself, so IF was not my top priority. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions regarding how to do IF or any other weight loss approach considering the migraine problem.
Always important to have your thyroid checked, see if the way you eat is actually creating health inside of you and dig deeper into gut health and healing
Great video. I eat 3-4 eggs each morning between 7-8 am with toast or fruit smoothie. Then between 11 and 12 I eat lunch. Gotta have protein. Dinner same thing around 4-5. I try to drink water between meals. I take magnesium pill and topamax daily and maxalt when needed. Maxalt is needed when I miss eating during one of these times or if I over exercise or have a lousy night of sleep. I am about 100 lbs over weight and can't seam to lose. If I don't eat enough, I migraine. I can't exercise too much. If I stick to my plan I don't migraine, which is good, though I still get em once or twice a month just cuz life happens, but I need to lose weight, but can't break the cycle. I probably eat too much sugary stuff and not enough vegetables. Anyhow, your video is spot on. Tell me more about homeostasis. Also, anyone use a blood glucose monitor to know when to eat to prevent a migraine?
Thanks for sharing its great you've found a simple way to keep the balance. I think a continuous blood glucose monitor can be one of the most helpful tools. But there are many factors that will change blood glucose levels without eating or fasting and these need to be addressed or you will forever be stuck in this loop with very little wiggle room for mistakes. Diving deeper with functional lab tests and figuring out why the weight is staying on and why the blood sugar is so sensitive would be massive but this is only something a good integrative healthcare practitioner can do for you
I tried Intermittent fasting (7pm to noon next day) and really enjoyed everything about it except for the fact that it wreaked havoc on my migraines. I had two major events in 7 days. I am curious if there is a drink or supplement (like Magnesium) that you might recommend trying in the morning so I can give skipping breakfast a try again.
Very helpful videos. I'm having the same problem now. I have migraine during weekends when I get up late and eat late at about 10am. I normally eat breakfast on weekdays at 7am. Still can not figure out why, I'm suspecting my poor stomach function is causing the migraine.
I was planning to start IF from today on...evng @4 i thought of stopping the food..after about 2hrs i had cravings that really made me eat twice😭..dont know what is going on..it was even better yesterday 🙄..has it got something to do with migraine..?....i am having this negative thought that i will get that bad headache if i go on with IF..i doubt if that made me eat
Not true.. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for almost two years and it’s never made my migraines worse only better. In the beginning you may get headaches but then your body adjusts. IF brings the inflammation of the body down which is the leading cause of many diseases including migraines. I understand everyone is different but really do your research before you start IF😉
Dude!!! Talk too much that make no sense, migraine headache after a day of fast is caused by low in salt so increase your salt intake and voila!! Headache gone. Speaking from 4 years of OMAD and prolong fasting experience.
Your the first person in all my year of trying to figure out this blood sugar that makes sense! Thanks

It does both and when done well, can be mitigated so that it is only beneficial yes
Not everyone's body is the same what works for you might an will not work for others if I fast or skip meals it makes my migraines headache worse
@@sweettrinilife2095same for me. No amount of salt or electrolytes help during a long fast like a water fast

I Still get migraines with salt , everyone is different. Some people are super sensitive to migraines others not so much.
I tried taking salt and it made no difference.
