  • Welcome back guys! It took some time but we are finally able to get back on the budget D150 truck hemi swap build. We worked day and night to get the old 318 motor and transmission out of this old Mopar truck. It was all worth it to see a clean engine bay ready for our new Gen 3 hemi to go in. Check out the video to get an idea of what you'll need to keep for this swap. Also great tips on how to remove the old engine and transmission together.

    I would love to see a quick video of the gen 3 hemi where you guys went around it and explained what each hose is for. I didn't know the two in the back that ran under the manifold were heater hoses so that helped me!

    I cannot wait to hear that hemi fire up on the d150. I'm planning to do that same project myself on my 350. Sadly it's slower because life gets in the way lol

      We understand that. Get to it whenever you can. But we find scheduling each shop time helps a lot. That way you can’t have something just cut in as often. Let’s get it!

    Intresting video I’m looking forward to the complete begin to end process .. when pointing out stuff in truck u could use a flashlight or some sort of mechanics light to show us an we can see easier in the darker spots 👍

    Great video. Would this swap be possible on a 74 ramcharger 4x4? I'd like to use newer 4x4 drive train. for example hemi and transmission out of a wrecked ram . Can't find any information. Thanks in advance.

    These trucks actually have 3 factory drain holes at the front of the bed, left-middle-right, they always get pugged up with dirt, pine needles and sticks and shit. Shove a screwdriver through them.

    I just finished a Gen III 6.0 on my 88 Chevy K3500 so I could pull my 89 D150 in to start this same process using your advice.
    One thing I'm struggling with is the identification of the trans that I have. I've looked all over forums and Dodge pages to figure out if I have a 4 or 5 speed automatic. Is there an easy way to tell? I don't have any identifying tags on it... that I can see anyway.
    My donor is an 06 Ram 1500 I have the trans, prop shaft and rear end so I'm thinking of trying to run the 06 rear end in the 89 as well.

    I have a question. I have a 08 dodge 1500 single cab 6 speed behind the 3.7. 6 cylinder. I seriously want to get a hemi. Is there anything that will slide in using the 6 speed. If you have a solution to this. I would happily buy it all from you. Maybe a plug and play kind of thing. Minus my LABOR to install of course.

    • @SUBLIMEparts

      You would need a Lokar cruise control kit and ditch the vacuum operated cruise control system as a most reliable system in that case

    • @SUBLIMEparts
      @SUBLIMEparts  3 роки тому +1

      Cut 5/8-3/4 of an inch off the 833 input shaft tip, get you a swap flywheel from American powertrain, McLeod or Ram and use a traditional old school clutch and small block Mopar bell housing. Bolt it all together and go have fun

  • @xptics

    i have a 93 with the 3.9 and the nv3500, can the stock nv3500 with like 250k miles handle a 5.7? because the oil pump went out and seized the 3.9 and i want to get my grandpas truck back on the road by doing what he was going to do with it before he unfortunately passed away, if it can’t handle it what manual trans should i go for? i was planning on robbing the motor and trans out of that ugly bodystyle of charger/challenger and putting the rear diff out of one of those cars into it too, i don’t know if you’ll even see this but if you do please get back to me, seeing the little dodge sit non running really tears me up inside

    Yo I have a question, on the first video in your hemi instruction tutorial. You mention that 03-04 swaps are the easiest as in: input from tcu does not affect engine performance. But I've read online that to run an older style transmission (904) you would need to flash out the transmission? Could you please clarify?

    • @SUBLIMEparts
      @SUBLIMEparts  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the confusion. Simply put, all Hemi engines can operate without flashing out transmission files, if wired correctly. Especially in the 03-08 trucks, the ECM doesn’t care much if the factory transmission isn’t there.
      Flashing out the transmission will help in eliminating check engine lights and performance limitations that may trigger from not turning it off.
      To date, we haven’t had one swap roll through our shop that didn’t run with the automatic transmission files still in the tune

    • @bryanbravo2153

    • @covertkermit1343
      @covertkermit1343 3 роки тому

      But I believe you have to have a spaced out flywheel to run the older style all the way up to like a 46RE right?

    • @SUBLIMEparts
      @SUBLIMEparts  3 роки тому

      @@covertkermit1343 you are correct, you would have to run the flex plate adapter to bolt to the old school torque converter
