My father was a Scots Guard outside Buckingham Palace defending the Queen. He's now unable to move except his head, but he's soooo intelligent. This video was the best I've seen. Thank you for honouring our country's Grandma....
Funniest story i read about her was that she had a prince from saudi arabia visit and they dont allow women to drive and up rocks the queen in her own car and took him on some break neck speed journey to prove to him women could drive lol. Apparently the guy was terrified.
Result. Women are now allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. One of the first the Queen did after she was crowned. Was to stop the Debutante Balls, which the daughters of aristocracy and very rich were presented to the sovereign, and then had a Ball. It was really just a marriage market for the rich.
I love to picture her driving around the grounds of Buckingham Palace like Colin McRae, listening to The Prodigy, with some hideous Saudi billionaire despot flying around the backseat and her just cackling away. That's probably not how it actually happened, but you can't prove that it wasn't.

One thing that someone pointed out in another video I watched, which i'd never really thoughts about. Was what made the Queen different from other leaders was was she had no ego. She didn't have to prove anything so could be herself and that made everyone around her feel at ease. She was chatting to some tourists who didn't recognise her in her head scarf. One asked 'have you met the Queen she has a holiday home round here. Quick as a flash and pointing to her police gaurd she said 'No I haven't but he has'

The oft told story goes that during an annual break at Balmoral, she one day went for a walk accompanied as usual by her personal bodyguard. The American, excited that he'd met someone who had met the Queen, asked her if she minded taking a picture with his camera of him with her bodyguard.
