I love the lead singer. He's singing and playing organ and drums. The song is amazing 50 years later. 😍 love it!
Died at 71 at Tampa Hospital on july 17th 2021 ! R.I.P. Robby Steinhardt !
@@sergebrunet4218Robby Steinhardt (RIP) was the guy with the hair and who played violin (Dust In the Wind) and sang . He sang backup here. Steve Walsh is the guy who is singing lead, playing drums & organ.
From about the 60's through the 90's, the average level of talent expressed in the composing, playing, singing and performing was at a remarkable level. The incredible diversity on the Top 40 during that time showed that 'rock' was an extremely loose term that included influences from virtually every other musical form. Someone like Journey could have a hit at the same time as Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Charlie Daniels. None of whom sounded anything like the others.
Now corporations took over music and radio stations
I’m 57 and female from Baltimore- agree 💯 with everything you said….without a lot of technology, you had to be talented too. I don’t mean a little bit of talent, reading and composing music ,then playing it live and sounding like the record….not easy to do. Music was literally falling out of the sky by 1980….. we had some one hit wonders of course, but I’d say the 70’s and 80’s took music to another level. Rush, Queen, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Bowie……we were spoiled back then and now after pandemic and reactors- more people understand music is the universal language we can all speak.
Agreed. For me, mid-90s music went so downhill and continues to be not very good in general. I'm so glad I grew up listening to this great music, we didn't know we were so lucky and that the good times would end
Had a kansas poster in my room as a teen.
@MaryEllen Azack did you see them in a Walker episode last year? I like this song because it was the theme song for Supernatural on the CW.
Absolutely! One of the "GREATEST" songs of all time ! Great positive message.....carry on baby! Kansas so much TALENT!
I remember when my son first came across this song on Guitar Hero II - he was blown away by how complex and difficult it was to play in the game .. I just said "welcome to my music buddy, I've got a lot more to introduce you to" .. to this day, both he and his sister love the music I grew up with!!
I only ever got 99% on expert for this song. Tried so hard for that 100 but never hit the bugger
First song I learned the bass on Guitar Hero with my son who died age 20 heart problems 💔. But fun times and loads of laughs, we finally got to expert loads of practice 😆
My daughter also has listened to our music from the 60s,70s,80s. When she is driving all she listens to is classic rock.
The red man is Robby Steinhardt. He plays violin! The lead singer/percussion/organ is Steve Walsh. The blonde guitarist is Kerry Livgren. He bad! On the drum kit--Phil Ehart! Rich Williams on guitar. He’s the one with the patch over his eye! Dave Hope on bass! They have others through the years! Very progressive yet easy to hear music! Love ‘em! Thx! You guys REALLY rock! -Terry
Robby died a few weeks ago. RIP
RIP Robby
RIP Robbie
Oh this one is an absolute masterpiece. ❤️🎼🤘😎🔥
One of the greatest rock songs of all time!
I agree and it shall never die
Absolutely true
One of the greatest songs ever!
Always reminds me of South Park and Supernatural.
We'd drive a hundred circles around our high school playing this song ✌❤🤘
These guys are brilliant instrumentalists AND orchestrators. You called this a roller coaster ride. You ain't heard nothing yet. Check out their song Miracles Out Of Nowhere. That's an instrumental roller coaster ride of epic proportions.
This is an original band from the 70's playing Classic Rock! Rock On Kansas!!! 🤘🤟✊🤙👊
....... "SAMMY!......., " SAMMY!".........
",,,," DEAN!",........."DEAN.........,
"'ELLO BOYS!" (A, deep, scratchy English Accent exclaimed)
(both am & Dean in unison),........ "Crowley"!!
These groups back in the 70s and 80s actually had TALENT!! They sang and played instruments...TRUE TALENT!!!
It is hair raising to see the bliss, wonder and excitement of others experiencing exactly what I felt hearing Kansas for the first time. Listen to The Wall
Am I the only one that instantly thinks of Supernatural every time this song plays ?
Always...Last scenes of the series is when we found out it was one of Dean's favorites.
Not at all 👍🏽😎
No your not
Nope!
Nope!!
I remember when I was six years old, my father went and seen them in the town next to us. They were a no-name band and I remember my father talking to the neighbor guy about the free beer! The town was Ellinwood Kansas and we live in Great Bend Kansas nine miles west of there. For the past 40 years he always bragged about being one of the first to ever see them play. R.II.P Pops, I'm sure he has Kansas on a loop up there!
That was the gig that got them signed to a record company.
As a representative of the Supernatural fandom....welcome to our theme song!!
Not!! This songs been everyone’s theme song for forty years!!
Maybe my favorite all time song! Spiritual and powerful!
Progressive rock! So blessed to have seen them live.
I saw them with Pablo Cruz....... Killer show!
Masterpiece
We've got ourselves a hit. That's what the guys said when Livgren walked in with this song when they needed one more song for the album.
You need to listen to the entire album Left Overture and Point of no Return. Every song of both of those records are exactly as good with incredible messages
Absolutely one of the best rock songs of all time!
"The Road So Far..."
Though my eyes could see,
I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think,
I still was a mad man..
Diving deep on those lyrics!
I say to anyone who’s never heard this song when you hear it you’re about to get your mind blown. This song is nothing short of spectacular.
Yours has to be one of my favorite reactions to this song. This song is so epic, it is a blast "hearing it for the first time" through your ears. Carry on my wayward reactors!
Exceptional Classic Rock song for the Ages.🔥💯
A great reaction to a great song! This song reminds me so much of high school. Keep up the great work S&M ❤
Imagine growing up during the time when you turned on the radio and stuff like this was on.
Y’all have to do “More than a feeling” by Boston
Kansas still tours with two of the original band members, and they are still awesome!
This was the theme song for the show Supernatural
The Red Haired fellow is Robbie Steinhardt ( he passed away just a couple of months ago) and he is the guy who plays the violin in the song 'Dust In The Wind '.
Good tunes are good tunes, no matter their performer or year.
THIS IS A BADASS TUNE! 👍✌️🤘
These guys were mega talented muscians. Its a damn shame they're not in the hall.
We were so spoiled back then. I feel sorry for the kids today with what they have to listen to.
One of Rock's greatest songs ever! Written by Kerry Livgren, who played the Piano & Lead Guitar. Kansas was a self-made, from rags to riches..Band.. of incredibly talented virturoso level progressive-Rock musicians that wrote and performed many amazing & complex musician masterpieces. Kerry Livgren was a musicial genuis. Listen to the albums: Leftoverture, Mask, and Point of Know Return. They will blow you away.
I love you two. You both recognize good music. Rock on
Real musicians. Beautiful song. 10.
The guy with the lion's mane plays a mean violin. Check out "Bringin' It Back" off their first album, Kansas. A really beautiful song on their second album, Song For America, is "Lamplight Symphony."
Such talented musicians, and so many great songs! Even their deep cuts are great! You should check out “Lightnings Hand”, “Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel)” and “Angels have Fallen”. Loved your reaction!
One day my 27 year old son was jamming to this, I was like wow. My kids love my music. Keeping it alive!!!!
RIP Robby Steinhardt..backing vocals and violin.
Kansas- pure legend!
That acappella harmonies are so perfect they start with.
You two have GREAT taste in music!!!!!!
"And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know". What a bar!
This song is played across the US in HS Marching bands, when the team is behind. This song has massive staying power!
The 70s were full of mucuians, singers, as a musician, trumpet, through high school, guitarist since 7, I played in Los Angeles with big hair, but nothing compares to this music, I stayed up all night learning this and Randy Rhoades, Eddie van Halen, it was all I did, back to the 70s, lyrics were everything
Robby Steinhardt was the guY with the long hair, he is a trained concert violinist. Kerry Livgren was the blonde haired guitar keyboard/guitar player. he wrote almost all their lyrics.
Steve Walsh was the ultra talented lead singer. His voice paired with Kerry Livgren’s lyrics were hard to beat.
One of my earliest musical memories ❤ thanks to my parents!
I was driving my parents crazy with this music.😂 I did introduce it to my kids though and they love it.
No autotune here...Just pure talent!
I loved to rock out to this song thousands of times back in the 80's!!
Teenage Years everyone of my friends and I loved KANSAS!!
Respect the facial hair!!
Great Reaction, Guys!!
Legendary band! Try 'Play the Game Tonight', much simpler and straightforward but I think you'll love it. Also check 'Dust in the Wind' one of the greatest ballads ever!
This was a huge hit in the late 70s and still gets a lot of radio play today. The dark hair vocalist not only sang but played keyboards AND bongos. Big Red unfortunately died a couple of months ago. I loved his long red hair and beard too. RIP. He was the violinist and shared vocals on Dust in the Wind. This song has so many change ups and so glad you liked this live performance. I saw them perform in the 70s indoor with speakers all over the place. It was phenomenal.
Rock-classical fusion baby!!! Incredible band!!
One more thing. Everything you need to know about Kansas, you can watch on a documentary called Kansas out of nowhere.
You can still hear them live to this day...
To hear their mellow side, listen to "Dust in the Wind"
This will always be in the top 20 songs of all time.
Every second of this song is perfect. Glad you’re enjoying it.
This song is on a different level...
Seen this tour live and Kansas was killer! of course now I'm old as dirt!.....Worth it!
Thank God we have so much recorded music to enjoy!
Great reaction! You may enjoy the song "The Wall" by Kansas. It is incredibly uplifting. Thanks!
As a veteran of 1010 concerts in my lifetime, it's safe too say I've seen just about every band in every genre live from ABBA to Zappa and most in between.
Kansas 1976/1977 "Left Overture" tour, the album this song is from, is still in my top 5 shows in my concert going career. Simply a flawless and near perfect reproduction of their studio sound.
Mel..you crack me up, you hear every lyric...love you girl!!
Loved this song since it came out when I was like 12 years old. I have been an empath all my life too and even though I’m not face to face with you two I can feel so much love radiating from both of you. Can’t believe you haven’t heard many of these songs throughout the years. I use to hear on the radio daily. I grew up in a time of immense imagination, something that is missing in music and movies and I guess art in general. Love you both. Take excellent care!!!
One of the lead singers John Elephante went Gospel l. He recorded a song called This is What Love Is. It was a reply to his friends the band Foreigner I wanna Know What Love Is.
And this is LIVE!! Amazing!!!!😊
This song always makes me want to watch the show Supernatural. Lol
Timeless. Just as good today as it was the first time I heard it about 45 or so years ago. Wonderful to see first time listeners feeling it like we always have.
The amazing Mel has such a pretty voice!
You guys get it you get this song and this band , my girl love your reaction the most, that's how much I love this song too , thank you ❤️
Priceless, to see your reactions to these performances.... LOV that u appreciate em as we, who were teens at that time, also did....
And yah... "they knew how to play their instruments".... as u said.... YES, they damn well DID, lol.
Anyhow, keep em coming!
One of the best songs of all time
Give NO ONE TOGETHER, by KANSAS a listen, you won't be disappointed. The lyrics, like many of their songs, are quit relevant today. The line that touches me the most is, THE MULTUDES ARE SEARCHING AND WANDERING IN VEIN FOR WHAT THEY SEEK CANNOT BE FOUND IN MEN.
Check out their song "Dust In The Wind." One the biggest selling singles in history, for real. The song came about from guitarist Kerry Livgren(blond headed guitarist) sitting around at home picking the music to Dust for a finger exercise so his fingers wouldn't get stiff while the band had a short break in their touring schedule. His wife was walking through the living room, heard the music Livgren was picking, and commented "that's beautiful, you should write some lyrics and turn it into a song." Boy did he. He turned it into one of those songs that if ever there was a song that's the meaning of life...................
Love watching this over and over again! ♥♥ To You Both!
SO MUCH TALENT!!
Kansas was so amazing ❣️
Sempre que eu ouco essa musica me lembro da serie Supernatural
Sempre
I love this group, everything about them…wow! Thank you for taking me back to my younger days! 🎼👏👏👏💙♥️🍾🍷🍷
Classic song with 5 key hooks...Kerry wrote the song driving to the studio...last song on the LP...Kerry is genius 160 IQ...listen to the entire LP...Leftoverture...masterpiece
I seen these guys So on a. Halloween night in Knoxville TN. They were all dressed up in costume. So humble and fun. Very nice and talented.
Watching this after watching the Jan 6 Committee Hearing and feeling these lyrics
in the depths of my soul! Carry On, brothers & sisters!
This is my favorite song by them it really jams that is for sure
Wow wow wow. I've always loved Kansas; but just watching this is making me stop and think about just how amazingly talented they are. Awesome footage. I'll probably re-watch this vid when I want to hear them.
Mel and Shawn this song was so popular in the 70s great song great pick
This is Dean's story!
Supernatural fans Rock!
I am so happy my brown skined brothers are experiencing the great music from my youth. Try This Led Zeppelin The ocean live. Love you. Sami
Great song and band...keep moving forward
"Masquerading as a man with a reason, my charade is the event of the season.
And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know."
When you hear doo wop , 60s and 70s Hits you will always be in a good mood
Best band on the face of the Earth
This was an add-on to the album Leftoverture & it turned out to be one of their biggest hits.
This was their second biggest hit. Dust In The Wind was even bigger. Point Of No Return and Hold On a couple other song favorites.
love your video review, Kansas is an all time classic band, very unique. God bless yall
