I have CHILLS EVERY TIME I hear this song! Steve Perry has the greatest voice in rock as far as I am concerned!!! He is AMAZING!!! Sometimes after the Cleveland Indians' games, at least at the ones that I attended in person, the ballpark would play Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' " over the PA and a lot of us would start singing along with it!!

I saw them perform this outside Chicago in 1984---Steve Perry's voice was exactly this incredible back then too, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Listening to him sing during their prime was akin to a religious experience, as you felt their music in your soul.

Steve’s voice is like a laser. The man is an alien.
You will never find an artist with better control over his voice than Steve freaking Perry. The way this dude can hold that crisp tune all throughout the song no matter the pitch, the length or the amount of breath he puts into the notes is truly a gift I've seen very few artists in the past or even today have. He was commonly and affectionately nick named by his fan base as Steve " the voice" Perry for this reason. He definitely has one of the best voices in rock and that's an opinion that pretty much anyone who's ever listened to him or Journey's content will have. I'm so happy that I got to see your first time reaction to a legendary singer/ songwriter that basically had the 70s and 80s in the palm of his hand.. well, next to Freddie and all of Queen that is. 😄

Journey was the first concert I ever saw outside my Delaware State Fair.. Which was 95% country music.. 1983.. I was 16 and saw them in Philly... Wow.. The Escape Tour..

Journey's lead guitarist, Neal Schon, is the only original member of the group still with them. Neal was one of the founding members of the band when they formed in 1973.
Steve Perry was about ready to quit the music business after years of trying. He told his Dad and his Dad said, "Son,
you have talent. Give it one more shot and I'll lend you the money."
Steven did and he made it to the top.
He is a big baseball fan. Some of the band is from Chicago, some from the Bay Area. The Chicago White Sox
won the World Series when they adopted it as their theme song. It had been 80 something years!
The S.F. Giants had some great teams but hadn't won since 1954. They adopted this song as their theme song
and won it in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Believe it or not! This song is magical.

Steve wrote this while here in Detroit. The original says born and raised in south Detroit. There is no south Detroit but he read a sign while leaving that said South Detroit.
I remember an interview with Steve Perry when he said that he worked a small club that had horrible red carpet that had wine stains on it and the women who came into the club would go heavy on the perfume and so the carpet smelled like wine and cheap perfume, he remembered that when they were writing the song. He also said while they were touring, he was on the top floor of a hotel looking down seeing the glow of the lights while ppl were milling about and thought they looked like street light ppl 🎶🎵

I grew up in Houston as an African American kid I had a girlfriend by the name of Kelly, she won some tickets off of off of a radio station 101 rock to go see journey in the summit in Houston We were the only young black kids at that same concert in Houston!!! every time I hear this song I think of Kelly, she died in 1989 of cancer of cancer RIP Kelly😔 journey forever

Neal Schon dropped out of high school and Santana asked him into the band. Schon was 15 and playing at Woodstock! 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥. Steve Perry was working on pops chicken farm. You’ve probably realized that Journey is a ticket to views and comments. I always watch but never comment. This evening with Journey just gets my fingers moving. I have to dance I have to sing. I MUST comment. It is just so joyful - even if the live versions aren’t my favorites! I was 13 and a baby. Too young for concerts lol
