    What a trip! I grew up on Saipan. I lived on Capitol Hill, real close to the Kagman turn off. Did high school and went to the community college there. Going to Forbidden Island, chilling at Townhouse Beach, the street market on Thursdays and the Flametree festival! Those were the days! Good to see you enjoyed your visit!

    Interesting thing about call letters is there are a few tv and radio stations that don’t conform to the Mississippi River divide. I know the cbs station in Pittsburgh being one example.
    In Canada most of our stations start with a C but we don’t have exclusive use of calls starting with C. Technically Canada only has CF, CG, CH, CI, CJ and CK. CB is used for most CBC owned tv and radio stations but calls starting with CB technically don’t belong to Canada, they belong to Chile. There are also some commercial radio stations in Newfoundland that start with VO. These exist because they predate Newfoundland confederation with Canada in 1949.

I grab it from the Filipino places here in Seattle. I want that Loco Moco though. That beach though omg. We should all plan a trip to Samoa. I’d check it out. That’s a cool park with the rainbow. That cow was so cute. I would have gotten out to pet it lol That was a serious pickle jar. You should have gotten it. This is a little different for most people who aren't familiar with the food of Guam and CNMI but any time I have a cold..I take shots of extra hot finadene! Finadene is always on deck in house or sawsawan which is pretty much the same as finadene but that's what it's called in the Philippines. I've never seen lumpia eaten like that! Usually we just dip lumpia in spicy vinegar. Looks like you had a great time in Saipan! Thank you for the tour!

    Saipan is not "on fire" in summer Chi-Town (my family is on St. Paul Ave). This island's temperature is static ... the change in the heat index or "feels like" temperature is because of the wind conditions. Winter is windy and Summer has no wind which creates a more intense feel, but the temperature is pretty static. If you talk to any fisherman, they can explain it to you in terms of their economy. Fishing is abundant in the summer months when the wind and currents allow for fisherman to fish. In winter you will have to ask a restaurant, "did you get any fish today?" It is not a given if fresh fish is on a menu, that it is available that day if it is a winter month.

      @AdamEatsTheWorld  11 місяців тому

      Kind of yes. If you're coming in from the US (in this case Guam), then yes. But, the problem is getting out. Saipan requires a passport to exit, even back to the US.

    • @carolinejune0615
      @carolinejune0615 10 місяців тому

      The CNMI is a US territory.
      No, it is not required to have a passport if you are a US Citizen.
      It is smart to have one for these reasons.
      The issue is getting on the island. Flights typically will go to either ICN (Korea), NRT (Japan), sometimes the Philippines.
      Yes, you can fly to Guam (another US territory), but it is always an overnight stay. Flights via Guam to Saipan have a very limited flight schedule, usually AM.
      Guam is currently about $600 round trip to Saipan and Korea is about $300 round trip.
      You would want to check with each individual airline for their schedules on and off the island. Many flights have not returned since the pandemic.
      When you come to a place like Saipan, paradigm shift your concept of typical anything. Nothing is guaranteed, nothing is typical. Being here without a passport is not smart, and way too limiting if you need to go quickly. No guarantee to fly in or out of Guam, and there is the hotel expense also.
      So technically, yeah you don’t need a passport, but yes if you plan to visit have a passport. There is also the consideration of war. You do not know which country you may have to go through to get back to the continental U. S.
      The airport website for Saipan is under the port authority
      cnmiports.com where you can see details.

      Colonies or possessions are when an empire wipes out an indigenous population to mine their resources for the betterment of the invading state.
