Great video, I was a dependent while my dad was stationed there from 98-00 . Living there as a kid was pretty cool. Crazy to see how much has and hasn't changed! Keep up the great work.
I used to live in that tower and in one of those houses below @ 0:20! This is so cool seeing it now. It makes me miss it! We moved around ‘08, and it has definitely changed A LOT since then.
@@williamsworld03 Looks exactly the same haha. I lived on the 9th floor facing the other way. But it looks like it's been changed to temporary placement housing. When I lived there it was set up as an apartment.
Hi there! Your video was extremely helpful and so glad we came across it. I have orders to Japan in January 2024 so I am preparing now. I see that you have a pup, could you help me with explaining how the process was of getting him or her to Japan with y’all? I’ve received different information but would love to know it from someone who actually went though the process. I have a 95lb German shepherd and is my ESA lol I could only imagine how that’ll go for us. Please and thank you for any help you can provide.
Thank you for this treasure. I am from Bermuda, and when I was lucky to live there, the towers went to Ichiban to Juban. Loved living off base though! There are a lot of us former residents that love seeing our former home and the changes.
Damn I grew up in Yokosuka. I left in 02. So much nostalgia throughout this whole video because I used to roam that whole base as a kid. I can feel it, the smell, the grass, the parking lots, the basketball courts. My child hood. I know for damn sure my town house was haunted as hell. So are some of those towers 👀 definitely didn’t forget those experiences. Lol
Whoa! When my family was stationed in Yokosuka, we used to LIVE in Nanaban tower for 5 years. On the 7th floor. It’s crazy to me that Nanaban Tower is now a hotel. I used to walk to my elementary school, Sullivans, and Kinnick high school before a middle school was built.
Thank you. I believe the high rises are safe for small children but my daughters are older so I didn’t pay much attention to that. On base housing is either towers or townhouses and you get to pick from the options housing gives you so you don’t get to request a townhouse.
Good video! I am going to CFAY for training for about a month. I was there in 2007 and again in 2011, but I can't remember if the electrical outlets/power are American standard or if I need to get some voltage adapters. I'm staying at the NGIS and I'm also wondering if the TVs are standard and if I can plug in HDMI cables without having to do anything. Do you know about this?
Thank you. The electrical outlets are typically two prong so anything you have like that should be fine but if you have any three prong plugs you may need an adapter. Not sure what they have on NGIS though. As for TVs we brought ours from the states so I don’t know about that 🤪 My apologies I couldn’t help more. Safe travels.
I think I heard you say that you brought a king bed in HHG? My husband has been to Japan twice, but we’re coming up on our first one accompanied. He’s always lived off base in places that wouldn’t fit a king, but now that on base housing is mandatory for all accompanied (just found that out, whoops), we’re having to rethink our pack out strategy. I know that you never ‘know’ lol yay military life, but if we’re going to have to be in military housing, can I assume our king bed will fit in one of the rooms? Sorry that was a long question, but any thoughts appreciated! Thanks for this video 😊
That’s exciting you get to join him this time. We love it here! As far as a king bed on base I’m not sure about that. Have you joined the Yokosuka spouse page on facebook? I’d ask there so someone living on base can tell you. Sorry I can’t help with this. If you have any other questions let me know 😊
Once we arrived in Japan we made an appointment with the veterinarian on base and they did the final check and confirmed our quarantine period was complete.
Hi! I will be moving to Japen in Aug of this year with my husband who's in the military, i just have a question was your husband allowed to travel with you? I'm scared to do it all by myself lol.

Thanks so much for posting this. I grew up in Nanaban towers. I haven’t seen it since I was 14. This video brought back so many memories. Thank you!!
Oh wow that’s so cool. Did it look a lot different?

Hello,I am Japanese. I worked in a Yokosuka base ten years ago.
It's nostalgic.

Oh wow things have really changed. The location is great because the schools, commissary, food and NEX are right there. We enjoyed our stay there.
Hi, great video. Are the high rises safe for toddlers? Any single story options? Can members request townhouse?

What tower are you in? We lived on the 9th floor in Rokuban Tower. They have added so much more housing since we were there.
We were in the Nanaban Tower which is where people who are moving in or out stay temporarily until they get a place.
Navy lodge. Lots of good times. I’ll keep it rated G😅😅😂😂😂
I miss that base so much. Commander, Submarine Group 7 93-95.
Hi! Can I ask how you did your dog’s paperworks to go with you in Japan?
Once we arrived in Japan we made an appointment with the veterinarian on base and they did the final check and confirmed our quarantine period was complete.

Are you a marine?
No, my husband is in the Navy.
Thing have changed since 1967
