Those sights were designed to be removed and put in the same side the ejection port is on, probably the reason you’re bending those punches, you’re forcing them out the wrong side. I’ve done a number of M&P Shields and they were never as difficult as you show.
I’ve been doing all my own sights for many years, and there is a gunsmith protocol always involved. PINS and SIGHTS are removed Left to Right, and Right to Left to reinstall. Nothing is better than a quality Sight-Pusher as it saves the gun-frame and finish (no-marring) and the same on sights esp. with Tritium veils or integrant make ups. And, I Mic all my centers. I’ve run many fiber optics none have ever broken, but their frames can be damaged. Solvents are the biggest problem. As a Note: The HI VIS H3 sights out perform the TFO or TFX by TRUGLO as the fiber optics on the HI VIS are not buried into the mount as TRUGLO does. I had the TFX-PRO on my little G42, but was very dissatisfied with the optic performance in bright-sunshine and when I ducked under any kind of shade. NO PROBLEMS with the HI VIS H3 sights, and I might install them on my G23/5 or G19/4.
The green fiber optic being the brighter of the two, I'd use the green one for the front sight, the red ones for the rear (as S&W does for their newest "M&P Shield Plus" Performance Center model).
Scorpiuszeroone that's a deal gunsmiths around my way wanted 50 dollars or more I bought a sight pusher press for 45 and done it myself cheaper than these rip off "gunsmiths"

What I wanna know is how the conversation went with the owner of the gun? I mean, how did you explain the new scratches on the slide? How did he take it? This is M&Ppunisher2
It would have been easier to remove the dovetail front sight "pounding" from left to right, which is possibly why you had to pound it hard enough to bend you brass punch.
I hated the stock trigger. I live in MA. Due to our crazy laws, my trigger measured at around a 12 pound pull. Apex kit took care of that though. Great gun now.
S&W claims that the sights are non-directional and can go either way to correct minor left-right alignment errors. I was correcting my sons new S&W M&P Shield Plus that grouped great @ 10 yards but shot 2 inches to the left and whole E carp I thought the rear sight might have had a drop of solder on it. It took several HEAVY wacks with a steel tipped flat wide screwdriver that fit the grove well and I finally moved it about 1/2 mm, put the set screw back in and will have to retest grouping.
Gawd that hurt dude. Just seein' ya mar the Finish up like that. lol! May I suggest a small hand press next time. As that is probably an Industry Standard Press Fit holding the sights in place. How the HELL did you bend a brass punch with 2 wacks?!? Also, anything tapered or sights like these always come off from left to right, opposite going in.
The sights enter & exit the same side of the slide! The manufacturer will tell you, most use open or ejection side. I use thin leather not to bitch up slide or sights!
How bout using a sight pusher and moving them in the correct direction both out and in. This way you don’t ruin your tools and most importantly the pistol. By the way it was not a simple install. The correct tool for the job!
Cheap/easy way is to just measure each side with a ruler (preferable in millimeters) to determine if you have equal distance on both sides. Better way is to use a depth gauge on a set of digital calipers.
you were punching the front sight the wrong way LOL, and scratched the finish off of the slide while ruining a punch. WOW. Thanks for showing us the sights though.
+WholeCosmos There is no "wrong way" with m&p sights. They are not directional..... and the finish on the slide was just fine. When you use a brass punch the marks wipe right off.
It's very easy, even for a novice like me to look up on google the way to change dovetail sights and as another responder said the sight is designed to be removed and installed from the ejection port side, even on Henry rifles, and while I haven't finished watching this video, I suspect that this sight changer is going to use a mallet and punch to install the new high vis sights which has a very good chance of ruining the new sights. For these reasons, I gave a thumbs down. If you're not sure what you're doing, there's no shame in asking or researching before you dive in. Check information from more than one source, just like any other NEWS or other info you want to make sure is correct. Sources say to use a sight pusher on high vis or night sights.
WD40 the sights, let it sit for 5 minutes, repeat. Then use the punch. I flat off one face of the punch so it has a solid purchase against the sight. Worked for me even though my puch is just a 1/4" brass bolt.
Nolan those cheap Amazon punches are crap. Imported from China probably. I went thru a few of those exact same kits. I finally plunked down the money on a set of Grace (Made in USA) brass punches which cost $34. I also recommend a Wheeler brass/nylon hammer $14 which definitely has helped removed stubborn sights.
+Dj Project You are correct. The shield sights are pressed in VERY tight so I switch directions to see if they would budge the other way...... and no, they weren't any easier the other way. The shield sights are probably the tightest sight I've had to remove yet.
