Love my little M&P. Shoots great right out of the box. I did change the front and rear sights and now I’m considering changing the the factory trigger. I own the original M&P and the trigger does have a long pull. Can’t wait to see the increase of accuracy with the new Apex trigger.
Thanks for your update video. I saw your first review of the 45 Shield. I went to my local FFL and shot one of his loaners. I carried one of them home and it has been a love fest ever since. I have several hundred rounds through it without any issues. It has a scary accurate sight picture. With the flush magazine it easily fits in my pants pocket. When I step out my door, it is either in my pocket or on my hip. When I bought my Shield, S&W had a promotion where I got the pistol plus an additional two 7 round mags and two boxes of Hornady Critical Defense ammo. How could you turn that down? Anyway, thanks again and I do "Carry On."
I carry the shield .45 and I've added the Tru Glo TPX Pro sights also. The pistol is my favorite carry pistol. I am going to add the apex trigger and a light. The extended mag will be later. Thanks for showing us the trigger pulls. It helped me make my trigger decision.
I love the setup on that M&P 9c. Also the trigger too, is So Cool. I put a Apex spring kit in my S&W SWGVE9 Sigma 9mm and it did make the trigger pull more crisp. Another great review Big Johnson.
I have the .45 shield and 9mm 2.0 shield and love them both . I have a 1.0 shield with the Apex trigger I use for training only. I prefer the factory 2.0 trigger for carry. All are great guns.
About a year ago I purchased a Shield 9 performance center for around $425 after rebate. It’s a joy to shoot. It’s my EDC. I’ve shot the Shield.45 (pre 2.0) and I shot even tighter groups at 7yds than with my 9 performance center. I love all the upgrades on yours. Although a nice “👍 Gig em” would go much better on the cover lol! Heck, they would even shoot better lol! All good fun. Enjoy your videos.
Big Johnson Guns and Gear / I carry the shield and the 2.0 compact is locked up at home. 85% of the time I have the Shield. I just ordered some sand paper Talon grips to replace my rubber ones.
I'm a huge fan of the M&P line up and carry a 9MM Shield with the Hyve +2 extension. I wish I could carry a full size, but in the position I carry, the grip on the full size prints badly. I'm sure it wouldn't if I carry appendix, but I carry at 3 o'clock so I'm limited in the size of pistol I can carry
Heads up the Hyve base plate is for a 7rd magazine or that's what their website states and what they told me in an email. The Taran tactical base plate is for the 8rd magazine
I have to say that 45 shield is the way to go. I love my 9mm shield. I went with all hyve parts in red though. I'm with you the red backplate on my shield does not bother me either. I also have the +1 and +2 mag plates. Along with the exstended mag release and monarch trigger. Had to do the talon grips along with boodady hyve +2 grip strips. They match the rubber talon grips really well. To top it off I have Ameriglo orange front dot night sights with a TLR6. Carry ammo is federal 150gr for micros. Best ammo yet I've seen, and shot for shorter barrels. Consistent penetration, and expansion. 3+ gallon water jugs penetration. Most others 2 jugs maybe 3. I'm talking 3 full and stuck in the 4th with full nice even exspantion. There fun to pass out at the range and see what people say. To bad I cant buy the shield 45 in CA. It's not on the CA approved handgun roster. 😫 There are ways but you have to know the right people. 🤔 Keep up the great work brother. Carry on
I personally feel a good trigger with a crisp break in the 3 to 5 pound range is perfectly safe. Live the Shields. Thanks to you I gave them a second try.
I have the original Shield 9 and it’s a solid carry gun. I installed a Hyve Monarch trigger in it, and it felt great, but I started getting weak or no trigger resets. I ended up going back to the stock trigger and everything is running fine.
ive still yet to find a more versatile pistol platform than the mp shield 40. for $175 i got the 9mm barrel, the 357 sig barrel and 9mm mags (357 fits the 40 cal mags) . i might be $700 into my entire mp shield and its fully decked out with all extended mags, custom monarch trigger and shiny parts etc. ill never get rid of it.

I just bought my S&W M&P 45 Shield 2 performance center and I really want to find an Apex flat trigger shoe for it. But Apex says their 45 shield trigger is not for the 45 Shield 2. I'm not looking to lighten the trigger, just change the trigger itself out, the trigger shoe. I'll keep an eye on them to see if anything changes. I have to save up for it anyway.
If you were adding a trigger only to the Shield 1.0 in 9 would you choose Apex or Hyve? Hard to cost justify the full blown Apex kit in relation to the cost of Shield. Thanks.

Cant remember who makes it off the top of my head.(edit:shield arms makes the long slide). I dont ever thing I mentioned this, but I really like that table

Nice! I have the Shield 9, same exact Truglo's as yours. Just ordered the Hyve trigger, +2 extension, & extended mag release in OD green so can't wait to get them here and installed. My full size 9 is the Glock 19...don't see any reason to replace that but the M&P compact 9 you have there looks nice. I was surprised the Hyve triggers were running lighter than the Apex. I had the hive for my shield but didn't like it because it was less concealable. I settled on the magguts spring and base plate on the 7 round magazine. This setup added 1/8 inch to the magazine bringing it to 9 rounds and I can get half my pinky finger on the grip. I carry it in a desantis superfly and you cannot see any printing. I also have the apex but haven't installed it yet. 4800 rounds and going.
Thanks for the Love on the shields. I share it with you. Don't like the hive extensions. Prefer the shield 8 round mags with the magguts plus 2 Spring system..
