I could see four options for Cross: 1. She died protecting Sarah Lyons. Sarah was no slacker herself in combat, so the battle against Shepherd's army must've been pretty brutal, so Cross easily could have died in the same conflict. 2. She became disillusioned with Maxson's more extreme outlook, especially since she herself is arguably pretty close to a Synth. She chose to leave the faction once Lyon's influence was gone. 3. Maxson may have had her killed, believing her to be an abomination. Depends how extreme you view Maxson. 4. It's canon she died while following the Lone Wanderer. Most likely during the battle for the Purifier, or the Enclave ambush in Vault 87, if this route is chosen.
Absolute noncharacter. Grading and arrogant archetype with a shaving of personality bolted on. Just bad writing, all around. Painfully generic. Never willingly interacted with her after the first time. .. Even Cherry had more to offer, personality wise. "B-BUT SHE'S A MTF SEMISYNTH WITH A BACKSTOR-" gross. I don't care. Bad character is bad.
My thinking was also that Maxson had her killed. That makes the most sense. The reason she's not in any of the records or notes is that Maxson was so anti-synth/cyborg, that he had her stricken from all records to avoid "embarrassment" of once having a cyborg as one of the top people in the Brotherhood.
My best guess for what happened to Star Paladin Cross is she either died trying to protect Owen or Sarah at some point or grew disgusted with what the BoS became after their deaths and left the group, likely causing them to erase all records of her and her accomplishments.
I think she might have been killed by the bos for possibly being considered an abomination for having those implants. If they hate ghouls and synths then it wouldn't be to much of a stretch to say cyborgs are no better then a synth
The first thing i thought of is that she left or became an "outcast". We know from lore that anyone who abandons the brotherhood gets wiped out like they never existed, she didn't seem like she'd be willing to follow that racist man child ngl.
22:41 My theory on Star Paladin Cross missing from FO4: Elder Maxson instructed to remove all records of Cross from BoS databases. Two motives for this. The first one is that Maxson is far more fanatical and does not agree with Elder Lyon's method of helping the wasteland first. While it could be hard for him to outright remove the legacy of previous Elders, it is far easier to not talk about the accomplishment of those serving the previous Elders. The second one is that depends on how much surgery was performed on Cross to turn her into a cyborg, Maxson might view her as an abomination similar to synth, and given how he deals with Dance it is not unlikely to entirely remove Cross from history records. As of what happened to Cross, there can be a lot of ways for her to not appear: cyborg component failure, heroic sacrifice during battle, etc.

Did the capital wasteland chapter send their entire force in fallout 4? If not, Cross could be holding down the fort in DC. Her being second in command would make her a good choice. Feel like it would be foolish of them to leave the Pentagon without some force defending it.
I agree, plus I always thought it seemed odd that they appear to have pretty much the entire BoS (which doesn't seem like a very large force based on the amount of people you see on the blimp) just chilling in a blimp waiting to get shot down by some Super Mutant with an rpg. I think I'll go with this one, on why she's not in 4. She's still alive and defending DC, along with the rest of the Pride. Too damn hard to kill, as well as being too much of a hero to the rest of the Brotherhood, for Maxson to outright murder or force her into leaving. If she's not still with the Brotherhood (for one reason or another), she'd be the leader of some from of new Outcast group, one that focuses on the people of the wasteland, rather than hoarding/stealing tech from the wastes, and would probably have the entire Citadel's crew on her side. Even if Maxson were to return, he'd have much more than just a small fight on his hands - and I don't think even Liberty Prime would be a big enough pawn.

Okay, I believe when Arthur Maxson became the new Elder, he purged and destroyed any knowledge about turning people into cyborgs because he viewed cyborgs as inhuman monsters. That could be Star Paladin Cross's fate, she could been targeted for destruction and was killed with Reginald Rothchild. That or she was one of the members who were loyal to Owyn Lyons' philosophy and was killed when many who still remained loyal to Lyons were purged during the rejoining of the Brotherhood of Steel and the Brotherhood Outcast.
@@____________838I never liked thr Lyons, needed more "balance both offensive and supporting" vs literally getting bogged down by simple things. Maxson just did it better.
My favourite thing about Ingram is that when you use the Synth fabricator mod from Nexus to create a synth copy of her, she'll exit the fabricator as a Rad Roach that's fully voiced and acts as a regular settler and is also listed as a robotic construct... she's the only npc that has that happen to them, and I found that absolutely hilarious. Makes me wonder what the devs had to conjure up to make this npc work
I'd imagine paladin cross died at the same time as the lyons, and because they're more notable names in brotherhood history, cross's name was just lost to time (even though it was only 10 years)
In regards to Cross my only answer is "Bethesda forgot." To be honest they don't write the best stories, which is something I'm understanding more as I get older. It feels like they half ass it a lot.
I got the impression that Kellogg was a different kind of synth with false memories and/or middle age Shaun synth. Nothing specific but there are hints like how the institute trusts him with things they shouldn't.
I think in enough dialog option in Fallout 4 Proctor Ingrim mentions not onlyshe need the power-armour to survive but also the fall has damaged her inner organs so much that the Powersuits underframe supply system actually has to support her vitals and without it she would die horribly. Even if it is just like a support system for lungs/heart or so on. At least I guessed that is cause her words been something like "I can't take that suit off at all. Its part of me. Without it I will die."
I would say the robobrains experience degradation due to lack of maintance - something think tank robots were not experiencing - meaning they could service themselves and they did have access to many resources like - replacement biomed gels supplies.
Ive always loved how actual extensive post war cybernetics can be. People often forget you can go almost full Cyberpunk with it if you have the means in fallout. Its a fun addition you wouldn't expect in such a setting
Most likely reason for Cross not being mentioned in FO4 is that Bethesda don't care sadly. I mean Emil Pagliarulo himself iirc has stated he doesn't care to write good stories due to a few people criticising his previous stories. Lore wise? I guess the new fascistic Maxson Brotherhood wouldn't want to acknowledge a cyborg as they see them as no different to synths maybe?
What a fragile ego. "Someone criticized my work, now I don't care anymore" Criticism is meant to propel you to improve, not cause a nuclear meltdown. What an unapologetic weenie.
For the Gel, I would assume due to the varying chemical makeup of Organs that specific ratios or even enriched recipies could be used like organs with High Iron content could be Orange or red, while stuff Like Kidneys would be High in Potassium could be a pale yellow or depending on the lights green
Paladin Cross was omitted from Fallout 4 for the simple reason that her existence wouldn't mesh well with the new xenophobic brotherhood regarding synths as abominations... seems to me that they would see cyborgs in a similar vein. For a lore-based explanation, perhaps she was exiled or killed by the new leadership, and other brotherhood cyborgs were also purged, and any evidence of their existence erased from the records
For Cross, I imagine she's been sent back to the West Coast since she doesn't need food or sleep. She'd be the perfect choice for first contact and surviving the continental trek. She's an incredibly skilled Veteran with advanced abilities and could brief the West Coast on the East Coast
I don't think there's anything more I'd want - or have wanted - in Fallout 4's vanilla game than cybernetic implants. The closest we get is collectible items we can take from Kellogg's corpse, which the Institute themselves gave to him... but we, the player, can't get cybernetic augmentations?
Isn't Arthur Maxon himself a cyborg? I could have sworn there's a terminal on the prydwen that mentions he's now "the perfect human specimen" thanks to his enhancements
The only few creatures in fallout with cybernetics that come to mind is Conrad Kellogg The masters second in command and the kings pet dog and mr house.
Just imagining John Caleb Bradburtons situation freaks me out so much it makes my chest get tight with anxiety. It''s such a grim fate, by all rights he should be completely irredeemably insane.
Bethesda just forgot about Star Paladin Cross. Todd Howard doesn't play his games once they're out. He only just recently played again Oblivion in over a decade and only for some promotional thing for Starfield.
Hearing about the biomed gel being in different colours makes me think that maybe people would get to pick a colour just like we have different colour materials for casts when a bone is broken. Fun lil idea tbh
Holy molly! This video couldnt come at a better time: I'm working on a homebrew campaing for Fallout 2d20 tabletop RPG and a large faction uses modifies their bodies with implants from a vault that experimented with them on the vault dwellers (players can use them too with a "permanent dismemberment" mechanic)
You forgot our boy Cassidy from Fallout 2! One of my favorite followers, really good with a hunting rifle. For those who do not know, he's Cass's father from FNV, you can find him in Vault City outside the walls, tending the bar and cussing out the city guards. He's got a brain implant of some sort according to his description and an unused head model.
He is himself a cyborge there is a terminal on the airship that says he had to have cybernetic surgery due to injuries sustained fighting a deathclaw when the was younger.
It's almost guaranteed that when elder maxson took over anyone who was defending Lions on his side or agreed with any of the lines pride was eliminated
Well, concerning Cross, the BOS in Fallout 3 were essentially rebels (and the outcasts were actually those that remained true to the BOS tenets - thanks, Bethesda weird naming logic), so it would make sense that most of them would walk away instead of returning to the fold
When I heard Jim Cummings' voice early in the video, I thought it was a sound clip from an early game. I'm so glad to discover otherwise, and can't wait to hear it in Fallout 4 🙂
I Loved the Nuka cola dlc. Not the bandit part. But the theme park. When i finally got to bradburton first time i felt rather stupid because they did the "walt disney is cryo frozen under the matterhorn" and i never saw it coming
I felt so bad for Gabe, but Doctor Borous is so funny. “You put down Gabe, a scoundrel really, but clearly a FAILURE of robo-doggie engineering”. Him and Mobius are probably 2 of my top 5 characters in all of NV.
My theory is that Cross left the BOS after the deaths of Owen and Sarah. Her loyalty to the Lyons ideology likely was not appreciated by the “reformed” Brotherhood, and she likely was disgusted by the reintegration of the Outcasts
I always thought of Pre-War societies as not very advanced, so this came as a bit of a surprise that cybernetics were so well understood that they could preserve people's lives into the 100s of years.
In ingrams case its actually explained in how Power armor works, The tiniest twitches of you going to move a part of your body causes the armor to move in that way. Like in power armor if you want to throw a punch, you cant actually put your weight behind it, If you did that the actuators would shatter your arm moving way too fast. Similarly i think just the twitches of thigh or hip muscles going to move to walk are all the armor needs to get her walking again.
Assuming the Wasteland Brotherhood is no more, Cross was likely captured, executed, and expunged from all records. Her life ended the day she tried protecting Elder Lyons - everything after that, in Maxson's eyes, was desecration of a corpse at best. That sort of depraved human experimentation is the sort of thing he'd want erased from history, so her entire life, organic and otherwise, was removed from the records. A shameful end to a heroic figure.
I would love to see the Reavers return to mainstream Fallout Games. They're essentially the Adeptus Mechanicus of Fallout, I'd love to see them be a main group you can join and become a cyborg yourself with. I would love if you made a video on them and their lore.
I always thought the implants you take after killing Kellog was such a missed opportunity to make the Institute a more interesting/rewarding faction to side with.
I always thought that Star Paladin cross just didn't go with Maxson cause he's kinda an extremist leader so she either stuck with the remnants in the capital wasteland or along with that bs of Sarah Lyons perishing in battle (And possibly just died with her) The more likely I assumed is similar to the outcast she defected considering she's a woman with robotic parts and does not need to eat or sleep and Maxson's hatred of they synths I don't think he'd accept her as a member, as they got more greedy, stupid and vindictive. So she could be out there in the capital as a "True brotherhood!" leading or apart of her own splinter cell, or maybe like a cool cyborge outlaw that protects the weak!
I dunno if anyone else has already commented this but you can buy cybernetic enhancements in Fallout New Vegas at the New Vegas Medical Clinic and one of them is actually the NEMEAN Subdermal Armor, for 8,000 caps.
Amen. 'Fallout' 4 is only playable with several thousand mods and I really didn't think they could actually do WORSE.. It's baffling just how awful Starfield is. AI generated soulless game made by, and for, nonhumans.

Ironic, given that one computer log…
He was opposed to machines mascarading as humans, not cybernetic implants in humans.
@@Paladinpal bingo
@@____________838I never liked thr Lyons, needed more "balance both offensive and supporting" vs literally getting bogged down by simple things.
Maxson just did it better.
@@Subject_Keter At what cost?
My favourite thing about Ingram is that when you use the Synth fabricator mod from Nexus to create a synth copy of her, she'll exit the fabricator as a Rad Roach that's fully voiced and acts as a regular settler and is also listed as a robotic construct... she's the only npc that has that happen to them, and I found that absolutely hilarious.
Makes me wonder what the devs had to conjure up to make this npc work
Don't listen to those haters! I love hearing you mention tactics! It has such an interesting lore and atmosphere, it's a shame people exclude it.
😀
I'd imagine paladin cross died at the same time as the lyons, and because they're more notable names in brotherhood history, cross's name was just lost to time (even though it was only 10 years)
great video man. cant wait for the next one. stay safe.
This is awesome! I love these long videos.
Love these videos, listen to them while I work out on the farm, great content mate.
Operate cybernetic farm equipment.
Another day Synonymous has blessed us with a lore video. What a time to be alive.
I would say the robobrains experience degradation due to lack of maintance - something think tank robots were not experiencing - meaning they could service themselves and they did have access to many resources like - replacement biomed gels supplies.
Paladin Cross was just forgotten about cause the devs of fallout 4 didn't play any of the games
Crazy stuff. Glad you covered them
Ive always loved how actual extensive post war cybernetics can be. People often forget you can go almost full Cyberpunk with it if you have the means in fallout. Its a fun addition you wouldn't expect in such a setting
Just because they’re armless - doesn’t mean they’re harmless.
Sounds like an actual BoS training slogan
love the content and i would love to hear some more about the reavers and or vault 0 with its robot army
The Brotherhood seemed to have forgotten many of it members from Fallout 3... Like Reginald Rothchild the Head Scribe.
Thank you for another great video
I honestly almost completely forgot about Star Paladin Cross 😮
So did bethesda 😅
Most likely reason for Cross not being mentioned in FO4 is that Bethesda don't care sadly.
I mean Emil Pagliarulo himself iirc has stated he doesn't care to write good stories due to a few people criticising his previous stories.
Lore wise? I guess the new fascistic Maxson Brotherhood wouldn't want to acknowledge a cyborg as they see them as no different to synths maybe?
What a fragile ego.
"Someone criticized my work, now I don't care anymore"
Criticism is meant to propel you to improve, not cause a nuclear meltdown.
What an unapologetic weenie.
I personally didnt like her and lets be real, i can totally see thr nerd boys using them cybernetics to frame her to kill Maxson.
Well the answer as to what bio-med gel colors means is obvious, it's what flavor they are!
Imagine having access to cybernetic enhancements like this in real life…
For the Gel, I would assume due to the varying chemical makeup of Organs that specific ratios or even enriched recipies could be used like organs with High Iron content could be Orange or red, while stuff Like Kidneys would be High in Potassium could be a pale yellow or depending on the lights green
Honestly I didn't even notice Ingram's legs were missing until she pointed it out.
All these creatures are horrifying.
Genetic engineering perhaps? His genes/DNA are 'perfect', as opposed to the degenerated DNA of most wasters methinks.
He is he got injured fighing a deathclaw and had the surgery to survive.
2:18 thought it was a sponsorship for a moment
The only few creatures in fallout with cybernetics that come to mind is Conrad Kellogg
The masters second in command and the kings pet dog and mr house.
Wouldn't robo brains be cyborgs if they weren't programed?
@@peanutkaneshiroI guess so but robobrains are just a brain in a robot body.
that cybernetic stuff is horrifying, tbh. Just look at Mr House 💀
Its awesome
Mr house doesn’t even care bro, he’s on the grind constantly and will shove anyone out of the way to get what he wants
I love how the reavers sound exactly like Adeptus mechanicus
A great video as always 👌👍
Just imagining John Caleb Bradburtons situation freaks me out so much it makes my chest get tight with anxiety. It''s such a grim fate, by all rights he should be completely irredeemably insane.
Bethesda just forgot about Star Paladin Cross. Todd Howard doesn't play his games once they're out. He only just recently played again Oblivion in over a decade and only for some promotional thing for Starfield.
The algorithm has blessed me with this timeless masterpiece. 🙏🏅🙌 Great job, keep it up!
I’ve been making a 3.5e of Fallout and his videos have been very helpful
You forgot our boy Cassidy from Fallout 2! One of my favorite followers, really good with a hunting rifle.
For those who do not know, he's Cass's father from FNV, you can find him in Vault City outside the walls, tending the bar and cussing out the city guards. He's got a brain implant of some sort according to his description and an unused head model.
He's not a cyborg, just a man with a fake eye and a metal plate in his head
Cross probably got purged once the Maxson brat took over, given his hatred of machines.
He is himself a cyborge there is a terminal on the airship that says he had to have cybernetic surgery due to injuries sustained fighting a deathclaw when the was younger.
Cross theory:
Bethesda's bad writing killed her.
I dont like the dog guns :(
That’s because you were adopted 😱
@@blakerackley8874 i am, in fact.
Why?
Lol bet the guy didn't see that one coming
They make me so damn sad.
42:00 minute video, hell yeah! I love the longer form stuff. Well done!
I've played the Big Mountain DLC and yet I still hear "it's a living dog's brain, combined with a machine gun" and go "wat."
I really like the length of these new videos.
When I heard Jim Cummings' voice early in the video, I thought it was a sound clip from an early game. I'm so glad to discover otherwise, and can't wait to hear it in Fallout 4 🙂
42:31 Thanks man, love your longer videos ❤ :)
I Loved the Nuka cola dlc. Not the bandit part. But the theme park. When i finally got to bradburton first time i felt rather stupid because they did the "walt disney is cryo frozen under the matterhorn" and i never saw it coming
Tactics-completely fine, best art style of the series imo. BOS? Nyet
Don’t forget Abraham Lincoln.
Needed some more Synonymous in my life ❤
I felt so bad for Gabe, but Doctor Borous is so funny. “You put down Gabe, a scoundrel really, but clearly a FAILURE of robo-doggie engineering”.
Him and Mobius are probably 2 of my top 5 characters in all of NV.
Skynets still strolling along as far as im aware, would have been savage if he was in new vegas been a sharp tongued A.I.
If you became a cybernetic organism, you could make fallout lore videos forever!
My genuine best guess as to Cross is that she’s likely holding down the fort back in D.C. and the fact she wasn’t mentioned was an oversight
Kinda surprising there's so many heads and brains jars
My theory is that Cross left the BOS after the deaths of Owen and Sarah. Her loyalty to the Lyons ideology likely was not appreciated by the “reformed” Brotherhood, and she likely was disgusted by the reintegration of the Outcasts
I always thought of Pre-War societies as not very advanced, so this came as a bit of a surprise that cybernetics were so well understood that they could preserve people's lives into the 100s of years.
Love it when ppl don't ignore the tactics lore theres so much to it
In ingrams case its actually explained in how Power armor works, The tiniest twitches of you going to move a part of your body causes the armor to move in that way.
I think it would be cool if the next Fallout game lets the player be a real Cyborg or a Psyker.
Thank you for making videos.
I would love to see the Reavers return to mainstream Fallout Games. They're essentially the Adeptus Mechanicus of Fallout, I'd love to see them be a main group you can join and become a cyborg yourself with.
I would love if you made a video on them and their lore.
Man.. It's sad what they did to dogs :(
Off work, beer in hand, new synonyms video. Perfect day
The Courier can become a mutant too with the Rad child and Atomic perks, in combination with the cybernetic implants it makes him a real beast.
I always thought the implants you take after killing Kellog was such a missed opportunity to make the Institute a more interesting/rewarding faction to side with.
I always thought that Star Paladin cross just didn't go with Maxson cause he's kinda an extremist leader
so she either stuck with the remnants in the capital wasteland or along with that bs of Sarah Lyons perishing in battle (And possibly just died with her)
The more likely I assumed is similar to the outcast she defected considering she's a woman with robotic parts and does not need to eat or sleep and
Maxson's hatred of they synths I don't think he'd accept her as a member, as they got more greedy, stupid and vindictive. So she could be out there in the capital
as a "True brotherhood!" leading or apart of her own splinter cell, or maybe like a cool cyborge outlaw that protects the weak!
I dunno if anyone else has already commented this but you can buy cybernetic enhancements in Fallout New Vegas at the New Vegas Medical Clinic and one of them is actually the NEMEAN Subdermal Armor, for 8,000 caps.
Playing Fallout 2, I loved to have Dogmeat, K-9, Skynet, Goris, Lenny and Marcus as my companions.
new vegas was peak fallout. the writing was so damn good… now we get starfield :(
Amen. 'Fallout' 4 is only playable with several thousand mods and I really didn't think they could actually do WORSE.. It's baffling just how awful Starfield is. AI generated soulless game made by, and for, nonhumans.
9:10 except the records in the robobrain production facility in the Automatron DLC say that this process was never consistent, usually resulting in Robobrains that retained the psychotic tendencies of the death row inmates they came from...
