Shaun of the Dead is simultaneously a hilarious send up of the Zombie genre while following the tropes of the genre so skillfully that it becomes a genuinely good zombie movie. The same goes for Hot Fuzz and buddy cop movies. World's End is a send up of another genre but its kind of spoilers to say which.

Ive seen no one writing about him, Bu t Jim Broadbent that played the police boss does a great job in Moulin Rouge and Harry Potter as well. The reason there are so many quasi-romantic lines between Danny and Nicholas is because the original idea was to have Danny be a female love interest for Nicholas’ straight-laced city cop (the usual cliche for these kinds of films). When they decided to cast Nick Frost as Danny instead they left the dialogue as-is and it makes it even funnier 😂

What a load of BS. Nick Frost is in ALL the Cornetto Trilogy films and never has there been any idea that he should "have been a female". They also flirt in "Shaun of the Dead", is that also because Nick Frost should have been a women? In this they just do it more because they make fun of the American semi homo erotic male bonding in "Bad boys I and II" and similar movies.

      @WithTwoFlakes 2 місяці тому +1

Kinda true. Actually the history of the Swiss/Austrian Steyr-Solothurn S1-100 is a bit more complicated than that. Based on a WW1 German design idea, actually developed beween the wars by a Swiss front company (to get around the post WW1 Treaty of Versailles). Manufactured in Austria, used by Austrian Army & Police plus several European Police/Gendarmerie forces. It also sold to a number of countries in the Far East and South America. Obviously after the Germans annexed Austria, they inherited a bunch of them. I'd also point out that comparing it to a Sten is rather harsh😎 The Sten was as cheap as chips to make (between 2 and 3 GBP each) and maybe 4 million were made. The S1-100 was very expensive to make, some call it the Rolls-Royce of sub-machine guns. Hence its low sales numbers - thousands rather than millions were made. Real pretty gun though. I can only assume the armourers for Hot Fuzz decided to go wild, have fun and bring everything they had 🤠

A Fish Called Wanda is a great british heist comedy.
I also recommend Kung Fu Hustle. I wonder how your asian (chinese?) gf would react to it.

The way ‘our girl’ stayed with, and recognized each-and-every double-intendre, only to reach the near end and exclaim “…oh, 💩!!” when she feared that Danny had a …a’hem… ‘terrible accident!’ Kept me going throughout the entire reaction. Subscribing in 3…2…😲🤘🏻💪🏻

This is the second of the Cornetto trilogy, all written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, directed by Wright and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. You need to watch the other two: Shaun of the Dead and The World's End!

I recommend watching a video breaking down the details to fully appreciate the efforts put into this movie.
One of my favourites is the 'farmers mums ' joke, since the second person he fights in the finale is an armed farmer's mum 😂
Also you are right, there was meant to be a romantic interest for Angel, but they gave the lines to Danny. I think it works really well to have a platonic relationship so important to the plot.

-2:17 No, it was director and writer Peter Jackson, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, King Kong, etc...
-You cut out the Hostage taker, which was Garth Jennings, the director of The Hitchhiker's Guide to to the Galaxy
-3:24 Bob is played by Joe Cornish, director of "Attack the Block"
-3:28 Janine is played by Cate Blanchett

the best part of this movie is that the part of Nick Frost was written as a love interest and at the last instance, they changed the gender and put Nick Frost in the role, but didn't change a bit of dialog and it worked.

Maybe you didn't hear about it but the UK had sea mines surrounding it during WW2 and the country gave out weapons during that period to several people and communities (near the sea) in case an invasion party came inland.
And after the war, much of the excess weaponry were not eliminated but rather came into the possession of the civilian population.

Timothy dalton according to Edgar wright and Simon pegg: “he’s a stone cold fox! He causes ladyquakes wherever he goes. Like when he’s walking around wales high street he can have his pick of the bunch.” And Simon is like: “I watched this with my wife, my mother and my sister and they would go crazy whenever he’s on screen.”

Hi Nick! I highly recommend that you also watch “Paul” as soon as you have finished the other two parts of the “Cornetto Triology”. This time it not only plays in the USA, but also has a great cast. Someone once wrote about this... "Paul is what Seth Rogen would be like as an extraterrestrial..." That should be enough incentive for you...!

You need to know who the actors in the NWA have played in their careers to appreciate the casting. Stars of the Wicker Man, the Omen, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lethal Weapon, etc.
James Bond and the Equaliser too.

A lot of, if not all of Sargent Angels' partner was written as a romantic female character in mind. When they decided to cast Nick in the role, they just kept the dialogue the same. Makes for a great bromance

Great reaction, love that you both enjoyed this so much. Echoing everyone else who is telling you to watch Shaun of the Dead if you have not already done so. Agree also that this film gets better with each rewatch as some new tiny detail becomes apparent that was missed on previous viewings.
