I saw Frankie live once, my wife never told me our tickets were smack bang in the middle of the front row.
Ive never been so tense in all my life
LOL I went on one of his working progress tours with my friend. When I was ordering the tickets, pretty much every seat was available. I chose to sit at the absolute last row.
He’s a nice guy really 😂
The "punching a man on fire" bit was a reference to an attempted terrorist attach on Glasgow airport at that time whereby a terrorist drove his car into the entrance of the airport before setting himself on fire. A member of the Scottish public took him on by punching him
he wasn't a member of the public, he was a baggage handler at the airport.
@@mattgantryauthor5222 His name was John Seaton
@@mattgantryauthor5222 well come on baggage handler is a bit below a member of the public in status isnt he lol so really he was punching above his weight taking on a terrorist lol
See Billy Connolly sketch.
@@chrisparticlose - John Smeaton
This is his clean 'family friendly' show
Frankie Boyle Tramadol Nights Knight Rider is a stunner
Second this. Tramadol nights was amazing. The Green Mile skit was something else.
Once sketch I remember was the magic wee hing! How the hell did that ever get commissioned 😂
Re: the London Olympics, we were all generally sceptical, as it cost a fortune, and we all thought we'd manage to c*ck it up! Turned out pretty well, in the end...😊
I HONESTLY was with a very sceptical friend (and others) and I just knew it would turn out fantastic. We do sports very well, opening and ending with loads of music (also arguably best in the world). Glad it turned out how I hoped (and I'm Mr Cynical believe me!)
Was amazing. A bit like a World Cup I feel its a better tournament when the home team stays in. Brits are such huge sports fans I think the crowds would have been full regardless but with GB coming in 3rd only after US + China who have vastly larger populations it really was a great time to be in the country and it was a great olympics
He is exactly right about train toilet doors...finally someone has said what we were all thinking...
Not a Londoner, but I think the fact that everyone assumed the Olympics were going to be a shit helped it to be a pleasant surprise when it turned out to be a really good show.
Agreed. I'm not a Londoner either, but I've lived here a while now and I loved the Olympics. The fact that my daily commute took me past the Olympic Park helped me to look forward to it for four years, but through all the doom and gloom I was quietly thinking "No, this is gonna be great", and indeed it was. Pity the friendliness couldn't have been permanent.
The London Olympics were a triumph
"Ye see Frankie there's a line in da sand... and you don' even see da fuckin line"- Dara O'Brien
What he's talking about at the start is an attempted terrorist attack at Glasgow airport. They planned to ram a land-rover truck into the airport but it crashed outside very close to the building. A baggage handler on a smoke break saw it happening and ran over and dragged the guy out the car (the guy was on fire from the crash) the proceeded to beat him up for trying to attack his airport. It was caught on CCTV cameras. When the baggage handler was interviewed he used the greatest phrase ever when talking about terrorists. He said "if you come to Glasgow, we'll kick you head in" ha ha ha ha
He said 'Glasgow doesn't accept this, this is Glasgow, we'll set about ye' 😂
@@Kazza_8240what a legend, we need more like him.
@@michaelcripwell1724 his name is John Smeaton, there's a clip of his interview on youtube, makes ye proud 😁🏴
No one in the uk was looking forward to the london Olympics...but when it started it was quite magical tbh and is remembered fondly.
It was a bit tamer that a lot of Frankie's material because "Live at the Apollo" is a television series - and George Carlin's rules still apply. He still managed to push it though! The line about Al-Qaeda not even having a football team is because Glasgow's biggest sporting rivalry is between the football clubs of Celtic (traditionally Catholic) and Rangers (traditionally Protestant). The grandstands have a long history of erupting into violence.
A bit?
All I remember of the London Olympics is Muse performing Survival.
Love Frankie, dark as hell.
He said people should never joke about trans issues.
@@JohnSarksGod-forbid Frankie has an opinion about something
@@JohnSarks in other words dont be a transphobic bellend
@@JohnSarkshe said it’s not funny to punch down at a victimised minority using lies and misinformation as the basis - not quite the same thing
Woke as hell now.
One of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen was Frankie is his prime, the man is a comedic genius
You need to react to Frankie Boyle best of tramadol nights!
This is one of Frankie Boyle's more tamer stand-ups. I saw him live in London once where he was doing his Working Progress tours. These are small shows where he tests some of his jokes in preparation for his big tours. That was Frankie in his absolute darkest.
Class 😂..... Going to see him in April in Liverpool.. 😎
I love that gay dads joke! I think they make great parents too, but that joke has a genuinely practical duality! "the one with that beautiful bench! Remember....?" 😂
Sydney was 2000 pal
2016 was Rio in Brazil
Beat me to it!! 😂
Save then every so often replay and laugh just as hard every time!!!
Nothing and no one is off limits with Frankie Boyle.
Not true in 2024
@@frankdux5693 How so?
I'm actually seeing Frankie Boyle tomorrow night! Can't wait!
Let us know how it goes.
Sit at the front, it will make you famous.
@@darrenfearon4288 bit late for a comment like that...he'll already have his seat.
I saw him live like 8-9 years ago, his set was really short but hilarious and he picked a good warmup comic.
@@donmongoose Not gonna tell us who that warm-up was then? Good, that's the way we like it...cryptic!
I remember watching this back in the day and when he started on the 63 year old giving birth, I was on the floor. Effin' brilliant.
4:00 John Culshaw, I love all of his work, especially the wind ups he used to do with Steve Penk.
The outburst of “Fuck off Frank” made me roar😆
Thanks, Boom never seen that before.
Another Wizard Frankie Boyle 😂 ✌️
I’m seeing him live next week 👌
There’s still some brilliant Frankie Boyle stuff out there worth checking out - his routine from the Last Days of Sodom is outrageous quip after outrageous quip; Tramadol Nights is very dark but still funny, and his stuff on Mock The Week is legendary…
Don’t know if anyone suggested tramadol nights Frankie’s only and done series 😂
we loved the London Olympics. For a tiny island, we came 3rd in the medal table!
and that's how we knew what a farce it was.
Britain is third on the ALL TIME medal table (and got more medals at the games after london)
Frankie Boyles best jokes on never mind the buzzcocks is worth a watch....along with Simon Amstells best moments.
Why, it's my one and only favourite muppet!
Cheers!
and this was great, thank you KB
Televised Frankie is a relatively ‘tame’ affair. He knows there are degrees of tolerance as to how much of his material will be shown on air. Or possibly, much of his set was cut.
I’ve seen Frankie live at a local theatre, and let me tell you, that was seriously WILD!! Painfully hilarious. And so outrageous, I would estimate that around 12-15 people left in the first 15 minutes. Quite what they were expecting, I’m not sure, because Frankie was well known by then for pushing the boundaries, so God only knows why they even turned up. But my wife and I loved ever my second!!
I appreciate an American who gets our humour because I was brought up on American comedies. Mel brooks is a legend. Dreyfreus another. Chevy 👌 bill Murray and Jim Carey all legends . Bernie Mac 👌 Richard Pryor an gene 👏
so funny watching you ... massive list of jokes i cant do
Olympics in London? Hell yes!!! Was lucky enough to go to an evening athletics session. All was doom and gloom here about how we were going to mess up, but we put on a great show :-)
Love how we all have the same memories of it, everyone was saying how crap it would be before it started and then we had an amazing 2 weeks.
Yes more Frankie!you never finished the audience annihilation series...?,👀🤔😪😂💜
Frankie is a Scot and he is one of the most savage comedians we have. Love him. He got a lot of stick for the Harvey joke anout Jordan's son. But the darkness of how out of order he was is what made it funny
This was from 2008. Some of his jokes, he’d already used on Mock the Week by this point.
btw if you want classic Apollo sets, Rich Hall's is right up there (the one from 2005, with his Tom Cruise diatribe).
I lived in east London (2012 Olympic Games time) about 1 mile from Stratford west fields shopping & train station..
Us locals had a letter before the games asking and warning, can we not drive, crowd the area as they were expecting millions of visitors in the area..
About a week into the games we were asked if we wanted “free tickets” to different events as they wasn’t getting the crowds expected haha
I think pigeons use the area/grounds more than people now.
I saw Frankie in 2012 and he was brutal. Didn't give 2 fks LOL
10:10 I remember when trains first had those doors. I pressed the button and there was a woman inside and rather than remain seated so I wouldn't see anything she stood up; presenting me with a full view of her front lady area, (both her hands were holding up her skirt to avoid getting it on the seat I guess). We are both looking at each other like Rabbits in the headlights, (it was late and a fairly empty train), I just hit the button again and was like please close. Thankfully I was in the first carriage of 8 and just walked all the way to the other end.
Seen all frankies stuff ,time for jasper carrott now lol
Punching a man on fire was reference to the Glasgow Airport terrorist attack. Billy Connelly does a great skit about it.
Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic football teams are Protestant and Catholic . Hence the religious joke.
Second.
Liked straight away as i know this is gonna be great
As a Londoner... no. we were not looking forward to the olympics
London Olympics was an unforgettable experience. We had tickets for Hockey on super Saturday but stayed the whole day watching on screens outside the main stadium as GB racked up gold medals. Atmosphere was unlike any other sporting event I have been to. On the way back to the hotel stopped for a few drinks and watched Mo Farah win 10000m. Perfect day.
1:28 I'm going to see him live tomorrow night in Birmingham, I'm not sitting at the front😂😂😂
We saw Frankie in his early beard phrase whilst having a few drinks in a hotel at the end of the Strand (London, near the Oz and Indian embassy) , he looked a bit lost , we left him alone. No 1 Aldwych?
Frankie Boyle has gone on record to say that he had a massive breakdown. The pressure he was under was immense. And that he was burnt out. He cracked a joke about Rebecca addlington which got kicked off mock the week. But he later reflected that he needed to take time off. And he apologised to Katie price after cracked a joke about disabled son Harvey. Quite rightly she threatened him with the lawyers. And he phoned her up privately and apologised. He took some time away from performing after that. One day he appeared at Edinburgh media Festival and unloaded on Jeremy Clarkson . A person who he despises.
Watch his highlights on mock the week every joke is hilarious. Defo when he was in his prime
Frankie is that one friend on a night out that speaks his mind and causes mayhem 😂😂😂...
King Boomer, the 2016 olympics were in Rio, Brazil. Sydney was 2000 i think?
9:50 - Is that Will (Simon Bird) in the audience..?
I was a sameday courier at the time of the London Olympics and drove 100 or so miles down to London at least twice a week. The government told people not to come to London at the time they were on, because congestion would be even more horrendous than normal. It worked, I went a number of times while the Olympics were on and it was great, there was nobody on the roads!!!
The Sydney Olympics were in 2000. The Rio de Janeiro Olympics were in 2016.
The Olympics? Lol, well done. You're the "best" at running etcetera. Excellent.
Would recommend you watching his bit about Margaret Thatcher’s then future funeral on Mock the Week. Only about 70 seconds but it’s top tier Frankie.
I saw him live a few months back. Fucking banging set.
Any comedian who is "Live At The Apollo" is doing tame material because it was the name of a TV show.
I see a couple on your channel so not sure if you’ve done them all but you should watch some more mock the week clips
Watch Frankie Boyle tramadol nights green mile
I watched more of the London Olympics but to be fair that might mostly be a timezone thing.
I think was the compere for that evening on this one m much cleaner version of Frankie for BBC1
Speaking of Bo Selecta, if you want more of it but with cultural references that you'll actually understand, try Bo In The USA. It's just Bo Selecta but it's filmed in the US and features US celebrity cameos.
2016 Olympics were Rio, not Sydney
When I heard Scotland had introduced their own hate crime law for some strange inexplicable reason Frankie Boyle sprang into my mind.
There is a lot of misinformation being put out about the new law.
The initial story that the police would target comedians emanated from the Herald newspaper.
Police Scotland issued a statement saying that they wouldn't be targeting comedians and labelled the newspaper report as "inaccurate".
The First Minister of Scotland said that there is a "triple lock" to protect free speech baked into the law which made the bar of criminality "incredibly high". He also said there is a lot of misinformation being put out there.
For example JK Rowling talking about being arrested for saying a transgender woman is a man.
Adam Tomkins ex Tory MSP and professor of public law at Glasgow university when asked said that the new bill would not make misgendering someone a crime, nor would offending someone be a crime
@@martindornan1667 It does feel like the transphobic crowd just want to feel like victims.
@@martindornan1667 didn't Scottish police arrest a youtuber for dressing his dog as hitler?
They've lost the plot completely.
The only people whining about the law are transphobes who want to virtue signal about how oppressed they are. Similar laws have been in place since the 80s
He has just started a new podcast with 2 other Scottish comics which is funny as........ It's called Here Comes the Guillotine
He’s an excellent comedian. I don’t agree with his opinions now, but each to their own.
Must be before 2010 but after 2007 as Gordon Brown was referred to as the prime minister
Last days of Soddom, possibly his best whole show. I saw it live so might be biased lol
Michael Jackson's childrens hospital... no more words needed.
Was i looking forward to the Olympics in London? I got called into work and i was 3 hours late because the roads were shut so the Olympic torch could be carried through Brentford, so no I didn't enjoy the London Olympics at all ll😂
Live At The Apollo is primetime TV on the BBC so he had to behave himself.
I remember watching the Big Brother eviction night during the London Olympics opening night. I think it was the worst BB viewing figures ever.
Love this set. I know you said you were waiting for a nuke from Frankie but the Live at the Apollo set is recorded for tv in front of quite a few celebrities so generally the “audience annihilation” is left out and they go with there regular/dialled down material.
7:13 Frankie invented Squid Game!
Take a look at the hardy buck's
If you think he's brutal here, check out his dvd releases. Just savage!
Frankie has a line?😂😂😂
He was on TV so had to be tame
Leigh Francis was the bear
Tell them that joke with a straight face and theyll laugh
it was 2008 I think.
KB.... Have you done a reaction to Hale and Paces The drugs song yet???
You should react to one of his full stand up shows. The last days of sodom is a classic.
Britain actially made a profit on our games!!!!
@KingBoomer
Try a full show by Frankie.
Frankie Boyle - Hurt Like You've Never Been Loved
Frankie Boyle - The Last Days of Sodom
Frankie to me is like marmite, you either hate or love him, I could watch clips of him but I couldn't watch a full gig
I hate him
@@JohnSarksYet here you are watching him. That's some strange logic you got rattling around your brain, there
The London Olympics was amazing! The country and the city was buzzing 🙌
Happier times 😊
I wasnt looking forward to it but it was great, 2012 was the last great year here, since then it has been year on year of shite
In my recollection of the London Olympics, everyone started out really sceptical, saying it was going to be terrible whilst people in London were all saying how bad the congestion was going to be, but as soon as it kicked off and it became clear the event was well organised and successful and when Great Britain ended up with their most successful medal haul ever, we were all pretty enthusiastic by the end of it. Typical British outlook I suppose. Assume all will be bad and be glad when it isn't.
The London Olympics were in 2012, so this must have been around then.
Gay Dad's know where the best parks are. Oh God that hit close to home for me my neighborhood was between two parks when I was growing up and we couldn't go to either. One was where the gangs hanged out and the other was used for gay cruising. We weren't afraid of being messed with we just were afraid of coming around a bend and seeing something we didn't want to see.
Sidney Australia Was Back in 2000 London was 2012 And Rio de WAS 2016 ! Just letting you know King Boomer ?.
Funny that, Gordon Brown needed new eyeballs and a finger transplant.
I think London exceeded our expectations.
We all expected it to be really crap. As Brits we made so much fun of the Olympics before it happened and everyone was expecting it to be a disaster so it was quite a surprise when it turned out ok.
I don’t know why but we love taking the piss out of everything we do for fun. I suppose we try not to get too serious unlike the Americans.
We’re just not that competitive!
The only thing about the olympics I thought was, God I hope we don't screw this up.
I was looking forward to London, and not enjoyed them as much since. There was alot of negativity building up to it, but i think alot of minds were changed. I still love watching the opening ceremony, and super saturday (UK won golds, but the mens 800 meters was fantastic. They actually ran the whole way.)
You can't laugh. Then tell everyone to lay off the gay dads, then laugh again, and again. lol
look at Tramadol nights , his sketch show , Knight Rider sketch got a rrecord number of complaints and the the Batman Robin's yearly appraisal are two standouts , you may want to review them first though
