There should be at least a limit of how much money you can spend on lootboxes within a certain amount of time, sure, people are free to spend their money in anyway they want, but no one should spend 20,000 dollars on microtransactions for a videogames so quickly

That genshin story was the parent's fault. If your kid doesn't understand to spend 20k on ANYTHING like that by the age of 18 you have done something wrong as a parent.
It's pretty interesting to know that most people in the comment said it was the daughter's fault for spending $20000 on this game, some said it's the company's fault for putting microtransaction into this game. And very few people said that it's the father fault for poor parenting
I hate seeing people say 'kids' spending huge amount of money is microtransactions/lootboxes fault. You can find plenty of stories about kids buying thoughts of dollars worth of stuff from amazon with alexa. Or other stories of kids taking their parents card info to buy things without permission. We need to stop hiding behind the fact that the company gives you the freedom to buy what you want and just accept that no matter how 'predatory' their business model is, at the end of the day they are not forcing you to do anything. The people who have problems with this are people with addictive personalities or have a bad understanding of the value of money. These people would have the same problems elsewhere if something else interested them. It's just that games are interesting to most people so of course there's a lot of stories.
Parents do have control, they don't have to give their spawn access to their credit cards. If it was for expenses then give them a prepaid debit card that gets a monthly allowance or one with a very small limit.
If anyone hasn't checked out that letter that father sent to HG about his son with autism, do yourself a favor and read up on it. That game really helped the kid out for years, and to just hear why he even sent that letter to begin with is heartwarming.
With more and more adults living with their parents these days, I don't find the first story surprising. She may have been 18 years of age, but 6 years mentally.

funny how people think it was a hacker that got in to the meeting but they left instructions on how to get in to the meeting in the call and showed it live on tv
Saying it's the companies fault that adults with no self control, knowingly spend ludicrous amounts of money on microtransactions, only furthers the cognitive dissonance of those who make these outrageous purchases. They're addicted. And as long as everyone keeps blaming it on the companies, these individuals will never take action and overcome their impulsive behavior. Even if you take away microtransactions, they'll just find something else to get that dopamine hit. Mind you, there's nothing to be ashamed of if anyone reading this has these unhealthy impulses. I have an addictive personality. I've just learned how to channel that emery into more productive and fulfilling activities. It's not easy but I know it's doable and I would like for people like to me to get the help they need. And passing the blame will never achieve this. The buck stops with you.
@@rindodenervoso6475 I really liked Genshin just do not know why you would want to spend nothing is forcing you like in pvp games where everything is there to force you
Your opinion that it is the fault of the gaming companies that "children" steal their parent's credit card and spend huge sums on video game microtransactions is just hilariously incorrect. By that line of logic, everyone else is also to blame... the sticky bun that girl ate that gave her the caloric energy to do the act is also to blame.
@@GrillerRohde A trap is not illegal in this case, therefore allowed. It's always funny to hear some people say, "That should be illegal!" What they actually mean is, "That should be illegal but I don't actually care enough to make this happen because I only care enough about this issue to make this blanket token statement of concern." Pressure to make this behaviour by gaming companies illegal is not happening in most countries. "We" have the power to influence law makers to make that change, but we haven't cared enough to do so, collectively. I will freely admit there are those, some governments in Europe, for instance, that do not like this predatory gaming/gambling and have made inroads to force change. For me, I'm not stupid enough to give my children my credit cards, or leave them around to be stolen (or have kids who would steal from me instead of just puppy-dog-eye scamming me as usual). I do wonder what is causing the erosion in concept of value of money for people. I am sure digital non tangible goods are part of it, but we’ve had those for decades so why does it seem like it’s getting worse.
My guess is normalization at such a young age, younger people dont have an attachment to money because they didn't earn it, it was given/taken from other, and as long as there's some sort of way they can get money from others they just get the idea of "oh its one purchase X wont mind" that builds up
gambling addict here, (wasted some money the other day but "in recovery" as a whole since its been 5yrs since i last missed my rent cuz i spent all of it gambling) TOTALLY DISAGREE with the statement in #10 that its the fault of companies. Its the fault of the addict and the people that enable, at any age. YEA LOOTBOXES AND MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE HORRIBLE AND REPREHENSIBLE, but they are always a choice. and another parent saying that they are powerless, you deserve to lose that money.
At this point I don't blame game companies for their microtransaction anymore, I blame the stupidity of humans and bad parenting, who the hell even let kids even past legal age get away without learning to even find a job
When I see articles about kids spending parent's money all I end up thinking is "should I be upset or glad that my kids prevent me from having any money for them to steal"
For the first story; It IS in control of the parents, cause why do they connect their credit card to their daughter's phone or account somehow? If they didn't and she did it herself, she stole from her parents by using their credit card, which means she can't be trusted and they should hide it from her. On top of that, she probably needs therapy or something like that. - So they shouldn't just let their credit card data lie around.
You can companies for trying to buy more and more ingame items that are way overpriced. Most of these games have many kids as player and these companies know that and that’s why they try all of this bullshit. Sure it’s also the parents fault but the companies aren’t innocent.
Handing your kid a credit card and having them run up a ridiculous bill just shows how out of touch and how little too many with excess wealth are and its sad when for some it is so easy to do and others struggle just to survive
Here in Mexico, for every digital purchase, you have to use your bank’s app and generate a digital credit/debit card, with a random CVV code every time. also if you purchase something By mistake, most of the time the bank returns that money to your account!

@@Zakthextremest I meant it as a punch.
Bro if i spent 20 thousand dollars on my parents card i would be behind bars quicker than i could get into a game of genshin😂
Ah yes the Singapore story classic
Great stuff keep it up👍
That genshin story was the parent's fault.
This just show how adaptive and resilient gamers are
Aha the cops not responding to a robbery just to catch a Snorlax 😂
If my kid spent even 1k of my money on microtransactions, they're gonna take a trip to the nearest fire station
Another top ten, another ten flashbangs watching this in bed because of the countdown transition
Love what you guys do. Always been here since 2012. You've been my inspiration for gaming content and go to for reviews! Thank you!
It kind of bothers me a game lets you spend 20,000 dollars on it for basically virtual stuff
There‘s no law against it and the game studio profits from this.
So nobody wants a Limit.
Parents have no control over who uses their own credit card?
Is there a playlist of these? Hands down my favorite videos Gameranx puts out.
Damn the guy who created that one handed controller is amazing.
Totally amazing video of the weirdest gaming stories of January in 2022,fantastic job gameranx.
She may have been 18 years of age, but 6 years mentally.
lol i thought my ex's parents were generous for giving her a credit card with a $1000 limit for college expenses. $20k for transportation?
This still is the only channel I hit like on before I even watch the videos...I enjoy your content so much Falcon and Jake!
Thanks!
They make the same video over and over.
A bit more info about the Tifa porn from an Italian:
One of the political participants published all the credentials to enter the Zoom meeting on her Facebook page, so ANYONE could enter.
The guy used a fake name, put 20 seconds of Tifa porn and (if I'm not mistaken) also put some Xiangling porn.
My country is great
I wish that was the kind of craziness that happened in my government.
I need to visit Italy... for... research. 👀
@@danielthomas7193 Because someone posted a porn video in a zoom meeting you can watch in most other Countries?
@@key0777 no because Italy sounds like it has a great government! 😁
Wait, 'some'? There is more? I thought it just 2 videos
imagine loosing your job to a video game
Parents = "Something needs to be done about the micro-transactions that are scamming kids."
Politician = "Its horrendous what some of these greedy companies are doing by scamming kids with M-T's."
Mega Corporations = "Here senator or Congress-Person, take this large sum of money for your next election run."
Politician = "I've looked into the matter and decided that its none of our business what private companies do."
Parents = "WTF?!"
That is how it goes almost word for word
Maybe parents could educate their kids ? just maybe....
funny how people think it was a hacker that got in to the meeting but they left instructions on how to get in to the meeting in the call and showed it live on tv
This is literally the second time ever that gameranx mentions Genshin Impact😂😂😂
Yeah they hate that game ever since it was revealed as a Breath of the Wild “copycat”.
Lets face the facts, every mobile mmorpg is just a giant cash trap crappy stuff, none of them are even close to be good
@@rindodenervoso6475 I really liked Genshin just do not know why you would want to spend nothing is forcing you like in pvp games where everything is there to force you
That was the least damaging thing an LAPD officer has ever done.
Sure it’s not their fault but they always want people to fall for their traps.
@@GrillerRohde A trap is not illegal in this case, therefore allowed.
It's always funny to hear some people say, "That should be illegal!"
What they actually mean is, "That should be illegal but I don't actually care enough to make this happen because I only care enough about this issue to make this blanket token statement of concern." Pressure to make this behaviour by gaming companies illegal is not happening in most countries.
Who is responsible for minors: Their guardians.
Re: That instance, I am surprised his bank gave him back $10,000 as the act was committed by an 18 year old child.
The world is a silly place.
I wish the government would pass legislation making gambling with real money in video games illegal
then people will not stop gambling with their real money, they'll just do it on something instead of lootboxes
Parents--keep your credit cards far away from your kids. No, seriously. Really. Just do it.
I do wonder what is causing the erosion in concept of value of money for people. I am sure digital non tangible goods are part of it, but we’ve had those for decades so why does it seem like it’s getting worse.
My guess is normalization at such a young age, younger people dont have an attachment to money because they didn't earn it, it was given/taken from other, and as long as there's some sort of way they can get money from others they just get the idea of "oh its one purchase X wont mind" that builds up
Ff7 tifa NSFW...
Heads must have turned real hard xD
Guys as always I love the video, but that blinking during the breath of the wild part needs a sezisure warning lol
gambling addict here, (wasted some money the other day but "in recovery" as a whole since its been 5yrs since i last missed my rent cuz i spent all of it gambling) TOTALLY DISAGREE with the statement in #10 that its the fault of companies.
That dad really had the "We've tried nothin' and we're all out of ideas!" energy.
mannnnn if my kid spend 20k on a game they would no longer have a house to live in
Favorite episode of gameranx every month
You know falcon doesn't have children when he says "maybe don't give your daughter credit card"
My parents never gave me the number of their credit card, why is it impossible?
Italian Government: today we will start our discussion of Rule 34 and its benefits to society.
Blaming a company for your kids getting addicted to gambling.....right....
You can companies for trying to buy more and more ingame items that are way overpriced.
Most of these games have many kids as player and these companies know that and that’s why they try all of this bullshit.
Sure it’s also the parents fault but the companies aren’t innocent.
Handing your kid a credit card and having them run up a ridiculous bill just shows how out of touch and how little too many with excess wealth are and its sad when for some it is so easy to do and others struggle just to survive
>woman spends $20000 on microtrasactions.
>this is the companies fault
🤷♂️
That overspending by child part definitely easily preventable if parent doing their job as you know; PARENT! Oh gosh...
"We're tried nothing' and we're all out of ideas!"
Here in Mexico, for every digital purchase, you have to use your bank’s app and generate a digital credit/debit card, with a random CVV code every time. also if you purchase something By mistake, most of the time the bank returns that money to your account!
The dad that made his kid play the switch is today’s equivalent of when the kid gets caught smoking and has to smoke a carton in a sitting
When the parent say they have no control is a load of bull. What? You mean you are easily extorted without knowledge? There's so many mistake in every step that leads to this.
Always love your content
Father: "You spent $20,000 of MY money on microtransactions? Don't you underdtand the value of money? You're 18!"
Daughter: *shrugs*
Father: "Shrug at me will you!? How about this, as punishment you are going to work until you earn all that money back. That will teach you the value of money!"
Technically the father also at fault here, if he raised his daughter correctly she wouldn't spend that amount of money on this game
0:20 Next day headlines :
"Corpse of a girl found with both kidneys missing."
I think the guy from the first story meant by no control as in some form of purchase confirmation before finalizing the transaction
My favourite series👍 love that there is weirder ppl in the world then myself lol..love the content boys
So did she buy it all at once? Like unless it happened overnight then I don’t see how you couldnt notice your funds decreasing drastically
Talks about the wonderful sound of a mechanical key switch, shows a brown switch.
All countries recognize someone over 18 as an adult as a standard. You surely worded what you meant poorly.
The Gameranx editor must be a troll because he makes me laugh, sometimes more than Falcon but this is my favorite combination.
Falcon and The Editor. 😁😁😁
My grandma will probably be seeing the genshin impact girl on judge Judy when the dad takes her to court
