As someone who rescued a baby squirrel and rehabilitated him until he was able to fully live outside alone again..... Squirrel with a Gun is the first game since borderlands 2 I'm actually excited for.
For those new VR glasses things, what would be even better is if they could turn that tech into wearable AR glasses. That's what I've been waiting for. I want to see the directions popping up on on the street when I'm walking somewhere, or have a menu pop up when I "click" (or whatever the input would be) on a restaurant as I walk by, even just be able to see my texts without pulling out my phone. I wear glasses anyway, might as well be even more useful!

For overwatch people are gonna be spending way more money on the battle pass system. People constantly hate on lootboxes and don't understand that Overwatch had one of the most lax lootbox systems in gaming where you can get most things just by playing the game. Anybody who actually routinely plays the game knows that nobody buys the lootboxes anymore since all you have to do is keep playing through ranked and farming them up. With the battlepass system you're gonna see a lot more spending on timed battlepass items which is part of the reason Blizzard changed it because this is gonna be MUCH more profitable for them than lootboxes ever were.
I've got mixed feelings really. I bought OW lootboxes like two times before realising that I could just moderately grind and get almost everything I ever want by just playing the game. Just like a game or two every day. Battlepass is gonna cost a premium for the best stuff and you also have to play the game consistently to get the best rewards. I think there's more player involvement in a battlepass system where you're working towards something, which is cool. What I don't like is that usually people can pay to skip the grind. Makes the cosmetics kind of p2w in a way. You're not getting stronger but if you have a fat wallet IRL then you can entirely bypass the time and effort that everybody else has to put into the game.
if you people are defending any of these money grabs, then you don't deserve any better. Stop playing these games and they will stop doing this crap, easy as that.
Agreed. The Overwatch lootboxes were never a problem. Most people just sit on them after a certain point, racking up thousands. The one saving grace in all this is thta with the extra battlepass income, they'll have a bigger incentive on focusing updates into Ow2
I can see why Breaking Bad as a game just doesn't work. It's such a story driven show, so only way I can think of is like a narrative driven game. But the problem is lots of those revolve around choices. And seeing as Breaking Bad kind of is all consequences to people's choices. It would be really hard to write and make work and keep the quality people expect from it.

Missing a bit of relevancy in the lawsuit on #7, remember there's also a huge argument to be made for the pricing of games in the market as Sony's hit the $70 mark for products and has translated that to the equivalent of 70 pounds in the UK which does not make sense in terms of currency exchange, making the UK pay more than they should be paying.
Yea but I'm pretty sure it's not illegal to sell a product somewhere else for more or less than somewhere else... I do agree though that these market places have overstayed their welcome charging such high %'s just to sell your product on their markets. More so Apple and Google when it comes to their mobile market place, basically creating a monopoly.

Automotive primarily uses clay, but they also recently started using VR to present detailed 3D renders of concepts and pre-production units to get a more "real to life" look at what the car will be like sitting in the dealership showroom. It's not just automotive either. There is another example :)

You forget the biggest part about the bonus one: That you had to have all the skulls EXCEPT the invisibility skull on, which many people is the only reason Halo 2 LASO is even possible

I do believe one day in the future vr will be used to teach students/university students. Doctors, surgeons and so on. What people think we are childish for wanting to play with will probably one day help save lives in a more efficient and effective way.
Vince Gillian needs to discover the Telltale games, Breaking Bad would work well in that format. He could do spin off series/episodes centered in the BB universe, and tie it in to the shows! I'd love this, but I'm still waiting for Game of Thrones season 2 from them first!

Although the Beyond Good and Evil 2 thigs is weird.....I gotta admit I am glad they didn't just dump it all together. Also, it isn't that weird when you consider that the IP creator just left amid his allegations. I would imagine it was not a priority, as well as needing the right person to write for an IP they didn't create.
Just clarification on the Lawsuit against Sony. It is not about the cut. It is about Sony requiring developers to put the same price everywhere. So let's say Sony charges 30%, and Epic charges 12%, according to Sony's terms, a developer is then not allowed to charge less on the Epic store, it has to charge the same everywhere, and the devs are not allowed to pass on the savings to the customers. And the lawsuit says that this causes the customers to pay more in general, thus lawsuit against them
VR technology has been advancing a lot in the past years, I wouldn't be surprised if only takes them a few years more to make the headsets even smaller

A punch out opponent select is actually insane like that is a crazy discovery the speed running opportunities for like single fights or really opened up now that that’s been discovered you used to have to play through the fight every fighter before the one you’re trying to attempt the speed run for LSU obviously doing a whole game speed run but 30 years to find fucking level select screen is actually crazy

Man I started playing Warcraft with the initial release in 1995 and I was anticipating the adventure game. I was destroyed when it was canceled. I played WOW for a decade until blizzard went insane. I still would love a single player rpg like wow sp, but at least I can finally play the adventure game. Warcraft is not recognizable compared to its original very dark release and got more cartooney and goofy with each subsequent release
I would rather more of my money go to developers than to the store selling it. Steam set the precedent for digital distribution, and Sony etc are just following suit with what has been determined to be an "acceptable" standard based on the fact that Steam was without a single real competitor for almost 15 years. Physical stores don't even get that much, and they have rent to pay. All digital distributors are paying for is bandwidth, which is cheap for businesses buying it in as much volume as Steam etc do.
Keep up the good work because seriously I am like all over the place and it's a great thing that you cover older games. Now I'm getting a steam Deck (well when Steam tells me that is) and I will be able to fit in more gaming time.
the thing is when on steam you can easily go to the epic store or gog or some other competitor. Sony have a complete monopoly on digital sales, no alternative stores for developers to choose to sell their games on. not consumer friendly but that is the most typical thing about it being a Sony story.
The gameplay videos of beyond good and evil 2 look fantastic, the small demo they played through looked very promising and sounded like it could of been an amazing game I'm really hoping they're still making it
I think I remember the Punch Out thing being a thing way back in the late 90s. I don't know if I remember the character select window but I'm confident I remember being able to control the opponent.
About the VR thing, I always thought the modded raybans that cyclops used in X-men dark phoenix would be a great model to design a VR set to look like.
I, as an indie game developer, think that 30% is a way too big cut. After the cut we will have to pay also a lot of taxes (value added tax (24% in Finland), corporate tax (20% in Finland), income tax (depending on your income, around 20-30%)...) and all kinds of other fees (i.e. Unity license, asset licenses, other software licenses, website fees, marketing fees...).
I wish you guys would Playlist this series. Without searching month by month it's hard watching them in sequence

Exactly, that's why I loved OW1, I'm not looking forward to OW2 at all, mostly due to the monetization they've prepared.

Hey this is the second time yall have missed this. Jervalin didn't do it will all skulls on. He did it with all skulls except envy which removes camouflage. Envy skull made the run easier. I believe it had been done before with all skulls on including envy

I do believe one day in the future vr will be used to teach students/university students. Doctors, surgeons and so on. What people think we are childish for wanting to play with will probably one day help save lives in a more efficient and effective way.

Vince Gillian needs to discover the Telltale games, Breaking Bad would work well in that format. He could do spin off series/episodes centered in the BB universe, and tie it in to the shows! I'd love this, but I'm still waiting for Game of Thrones season 2 from them first!

Also Gearbox software is making a new Borderlands TT themed game, whether or not they can match TT remains to be seen. But Wolf 2 looks like this new dev team is doing a damn fine job from the trailers.

Although the Beyond Good and Evil 2 thigs is weird.....I gotta admit I am glad they didn't just dump it all together. Also, it isn't that weird when you consider that the IP creator just left amid his allegations. I would imagine it was not a priority, as well as needing the right person to write for an IP they didn't create.

I believe the Beyond Good and Evil developers saw what happened to Cyberpunk and decided to be more cautious about how they approach things.
Just clarification on the Lawsuit against Sony.
It is not about the cut.
It is about Sony requiring developers to put the same price everywhere.
So let's say Sony charges 30%, and Epic charges 12%, according to Sony's terms, a developer is then not allowed to charge less on the Epic store, it has to charge the same everywhere, and the devs are not allowed to pass on the savings to the customers.
And the lawsuit says that this causes the customers to pay more in general, thus lawsuit against them
VR technology has been advancing a lot in the past years, I wouldn't be surprised if only takes them a few years more to make the headsets even smaller
It really has, and honestly I wouldnt be surprised to see some pretty big advancements in a "full dive" style VR technology within the next decade
I don’t see how those tiny glasses would actually work tho. Surely it needs to be much more closed of around the eyes to block outside stimuli.

2 things: 1 i miss loot boxes because they were so much better than battle passes and 2 I think the future of VR is reading brain signals to transfer into code
That VR will cause a lot of disturbance with peripheral vision of users when they look towards their sides
PSN in NZ tends to be a fair bit more expensive than physical copies
odly enough, the P1 slot went out on my SNES so I plugged it into the P2 slot and super punch-out became the only game I could play on that SNES.

A punch out opponent select is actually insane like that is a crazy discovery the speed running opportunities for like single fights or really opened up now that that’s been discovered you used to have to play through the fight every fighter before the one you’re trying to attempt the speed run for LSU obviously doing a whole game speed run but 30 years to find fucking level select screen is actually crazy

Man I started playing Warcraft with the initial release in 1995 and I was anticipating the adventure game. I was destroyed when it was canceled. I played WOW for a decade until blizzard went insane. I still would love a single player rpg like wow sp, but at least I can finally play the adventure game. Warcraft is not recognizable compared to its original very dark release and got more cartooney and goofy with each subsequent release

I would rather more of my money go to developers than to the store selling it. Steam set the precedent for digital distribution, and Sony etc are just following suit with what has been determined to be an "acceptable" standard based on the fact that Steam was without a single real competitor for almost 15 years. Physical stores don't even get that much, and they have rent to pay. All digital distributors are paying for is bandwidth, which is cheap for businesses buying it in as much volume as Steam etc do.

the thing is when on steam you can easily go to the epic store or gog or some other competitor. Sony have a complete monopoly on digital sales, no alternative stores for developers to choose to sell their games on. not consumer friendly but that is the most typical thing about it being a Sony story.
The gameplay videos of beyond good and evil 2 look fantastic, the small demo they played through looked very promising and sounded like it could of been an amazing game I'm really hoping they're still making it

I think I remember the Punch Out thing being a thing way back in the late 90s. I don't know if I remember the character select window but I'm confident I remember being able to control the opponent.

About the VR thing, I always thought the modded raybans that cyclops used in X-men dark phoenix would be a great model to design a VR set to look like.
I, as an indie game developer, think that 30% is a way too big cut. After the cut we will have to pay also a lot of taxes (value added tax (24% in Finland), corporate tax (20% in Finland), income tax (depending on your income, around 20-30%)...) and all kinds of other fees (i.e. Unity license, asset licenses, other software licenses, website fees, marketing fees...).
