My husband told me our entire counters would have to be removed to replace our broken lazy Susan. But I showed him your video, and he was surprised. So maybe now he will replace it.
SunDrop, glad I could help you out, I was amazed at how easy this was to switch out and install the new one, but made the video to help out folks in doubt. Best of luck...
Damn, this father on father's day decided to see if this was possible, I'm not Sundrops hubby, but man wife is gonna flip when I surprise her with something I said was impossible 😅
Exactly what i needed! Our plastic lazy Susan has been broken since we bought the house and we have never been able to use it. I thought it was more involved to replace. I am glad to see i can replace it and get more storage space. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video. No instructions came how to install. We tried every way. Last resort we when on YOU TUBE since it help us a lot of times. Thank you so much for video it save the day . Never would have thought to do it that way.
Glad to hear my video helped you. When I do anything around the house I'll shoot a video like this just in case it can help others like yourself. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I am so thankful for things like this cuz my metal one is sitting in my kitchen for over a month because my plastic one broke just like yours so we were up grading to the metal one and just like u said I couldn't figure how to get the pieces into the cabinet thank you so much!!! 😊😊
The plastic center piece on the lower shelf of my IKEA wire Lazy Susan broke after only four years of light use. I'm looking for alternatives and think shelves with a Lazy Susan and bins may be a better choice
I have 2 lazy susans practically identical to this metal one, but the plastic piece holding up the top shelf on each of them have broken so they've collapsed onto the bottom shelf. I wrote to the manufacturer about getting replacement parts and never received a response. Do you have any idea how I can hack it into staying up? Thanks!
okay, I just went over and looked at my lazy susan. If the plastic rings are still there you can use a 11/4 inch clamp to hold it up: amzn.to/4fp2L92 or a 11/4 inch Conduit Hanger: amzn.to/4c9kmyV. Let me know if this works for you.
What brand is the metal lazy susan from and can you share the source or the website you purchased from, for the metal lazy susan you used here? The plastic 24inch susan my kitchen had broke so looking to get a metal one.
I got mine from Amazon and its posted in the area below the video. copied the info here for you and others: Here are the links to the products used in this video: 28 inch Metal Lazy Susan (holds 36 lbs per shelf): amzn.to/37tbysp Plastic Shelf Liner: amzn.to/37w2IKv 28 inch Plastic Lazy Susan: amzn.to/3KZFjzC T-Handle Screwdriver Ratchet Set: amzn.to/3JYnLTd a B&D Reliable Drill: amzn.to/3rCfs96
Thank you for posting this. I hope I can figure out how to replace my broken susan. My existing one is not pie shaped and the door is narrower than yours. The opening of the door is 28 and a half inches and the shelves are 29. I feel overwhelmed. Please tell me it's not that bad.
I have a Lazy Susan where the doors are attached so you can push it open or closed can I still put a wire Lazy Susan inside and how would I attach my doors?
Maybe dumb question: the original plastic one for our house attaches by screw to the wooden face. What to do with that face with the stainless steel alternative? Ditch it?
I had a plastic version as well. It did not break, but looked cheap and stained. Metal looks cheap to me as well and still have plastic parts. I upgraded to a wood version made with birch plywood and metal pole from Rev-A-Shelf. Way nicer, much stronger, and holds 68 lbs. per shelf.
Make sure not to over load the shelves. Also put heavier items in the center near the post and balance the shelves so not all the heavy items are on one side.
I didn't take the door off, was able to pivot it out of the way, but if you look at how other doors are installed in your kitchen they should all have a similar set up. At least that's that is the way it is for mine.
The height is adjustable. As for the diameter, measure what you already have or allow yourself ~ 1.5 - 2 inch gap on all sides of the space to clear the rack. For me the space was ~31 inches, and I installed a 28 inch rack.
Can u tell me how does it attach to the door so it can spin? My old plastic on the lip was screwed into the doors. With this metal one, I don’t have any idea what to do! 😅
My lazy Susan shelves are metal and are screwed into the doors, they are better than plastic but they still flex a lot from the weight of canned goods.
I think they have more rev a shelf models now. The one I ordered has zero plastic in it. Its heavy duty! But, I am having trouble lining it up in my ikea cabinets.
Outstanding I’m in a pickle because I have an old lazy Susan that’s broke. It doesn’t have a post. It has hardware that connects to the top inside of the cabinet.
My lazy susan has fell backwards while closed the only way I can see to fix it is to take the trim off, there are no videos that describes the fix for this😢
Hi, i would like my wooden door to still revolve (the same way with the plastic one). How do i attach the metal lazy susan to the wooden door? What hinge should i use pls? Thank you.

😂😂Sounds like he didn’t want to tackle the project!!😂
Thank you so much I was debating paying my contractor to install this. After watching your video I will attempt it myself!
Glad I could help! It's really a fairly easy install. Let me know how yours works out.

Both my metal wire lazy Suzanne shelf broke at the plastic centers peices. I'm ripping them out and making shelves. Gives me much more useful storage.
cyndirella, wow, that tough. Glad to hear you've come up with a better solution that works for you.

Any idea what fasteners used to attach the wire shelves to cabinet doors?
You could use adhesive pads (they would have to be strong) or shallow screws, hard to say more than that not seeing your situation.
Thanks! I have a opening that I need to alter, but I love your demonstration.
You're welcome. Thanks for leaving a commen Sheila.
Great vid - helped with my install a lot!
Darthstrings, thanks for the feedback. Always good to hear when my videos help someone.

It's not that bad. You can do this!
I did it. Thank you.@@MakeItorBreakItNow
Will it go into to cabinet ?
Looking forward your answer
Thank you so much
Not sure, measure the area, to make sure it fits, you need an inch or more on all sides, so it will spin correctly.
Is there any way to keep a lazy susan from constantly turn and turning and turning
More weight on the shelves? you might also be able to wrap tape above the pivot so the has something to rub up against...
Thanks for reply . Isn't it suppose to gradually brake into proper position..bv
I have a Lazy Susan where the doors are attached so you can push it open or closed can I still put a wire Lazy Susan inside and how would I attach my doors?
Not sure about that one. I presume if you got the same size wire rack, you could mount them the same way they are on your current rack.
Hi... did you get a solution to your problem? Looking at the same thing.
Maybe dumb question: the original plastic one for our house attaches by screw to the wooden face. What to do with that face with the stainless steel alternative? Ditch it?
Bruce, in this build I removed all of the old system and used all the new hardware.
@@MakeItorBreakItNow yeah, that's what I ended up doing.

Interesting, I'll have to check on the wood version. Thans for sharing.
How do you keep a lazy susan from going round and round without braking
Make sure not to over load the shelves. Also put heavier items in the center near the post and balance the shelves so not all the heavy items are on one side.
How did you put the door back on? At that stage now and my dumb self cant figure it out.
I didn't take the door off, was able to pivot it out of the way, but if you look at how other doors are installed in your kitchen they should all have a similar set up. At least that's that is the way it is for mine.
Would have been great if this included instructions on how to change the height of the shelves.
Sorry about that Darlen, I just follow the instructions that came with the kit.
how do you know what size to order 24, 28, 31 inch? Do you Measure your opening or the height?
The height is adjustable. As for the diameter, measure what you already have or allow yourself ~ 1.5 - 2 inch gap on all sides of the space to clear the rack. For me the space was ~31 inches, and I installed a 28 inch rack.

It doesn't attach to the door, its mounted to the top and bottom of the base at the center hub and you spin it with your hands.
great video. It helped me so much. Thank you for making it.
Jennifer, thanks for leaving a comment, great to hear from folks like yourself where my videos helped them.
Awesome, thanks mine came with junk instructions, your video worked perfectly
David, Glad it helped, you're not alone, the paper instructions were lacking in some key details.
It would have been REALLY helpful to see exactly how you got the plastic shelves out!
You're right, might be better with a close up of the plastic shelves removal. Thanks for the feedback.
@@MakeItorBreakItNow 😊 Cheers! Getting the old shelves out was waaay trickier for me than putting the new ones in.
My lazy Susan shelves are metal and are screwed into the doors, they are better than plastic but they still flex a lot from the weight of canned goods.
Cans can be heavy for sure. I've found spacing out the heavy items helps.
Thaaaank You! It helped me with the SiderPlast Lazy Suzan
Donna, you're welcome, everytime I pull something from these wheels it makes me smile, so much better than the plastic version.
Where to buy wire shelving
Here's the one I purchased and used in the video: amzn.to/42Rn2N2
I think they have more rev a shelf models now. The one I ordered has zero plastic in it. Its heavy duty! But, I am having trouble lining it up in my ikea cabinets.

Outstanding

this still may work for you, the install comes with its own pole that works great.
cool timing! I have one from my daughter's old kitchen the cabinet it was in was no good any more, I want to put it on the counter, may be for pants?
kleineroteHex, very interesting, looking forward to hearing how your pants version turns out.
@@MakeItorBreakItNow don't hold your breath, we need the basement walls conditioned first, that could take "a while".
our racking is very lose what to do
Deb/Kieran, I'm thinking you meant "close." Great to hear I might doing this right.
My lazy susan has fell backwards while closed the only way I can see to fix it is to take the trim off, there are no videos that describes the fix for this😢
was your cabinet door connected to your lazy susan? Mine opens out, probably for the reason...
Grasias señor.!!!
Jose, gustoso de trabajar para ti
Thank you. 👍
You are welcome!
Exactly what happened to mine.
hopefully this DIY video will help.
Thank youu!!
You're welcome. This project always puts a smile on my face when I reach in for some spices.
You just use a basket for small jars.
Great idea, thanks for sharing.
I would have cut the plastic in two halves and used clear gorilla tape down the middle rather than two weak end pieces on the liner..
Evelyn, great idea, thanks for sharing.
Douglas MacArthur
okay, thanks.
way to much babbling.
Thanks Michael, I'll try to do better.
A lot of people don’t explain enough. Thanks for taking time to explain everything.
Hi, i would like my wooden door to still revolve (the same way with the plastic one). How do i attach the metal lazy susan to the wooden door? What hinge should i use pls? Thank you.
I'd use a similar setup to what you have with your plastic lazy susan. Since I can't see your version its hard to recommend beyond that.
