I am planning to make a "lazy Susan" for my wife and even though I have watched some videos regarding this matter I consider yours the best. Good settings, excellent explanation and more important excellent content, everything you said was right on point no wasted time in fumbling around. Very good job, Keep it up!!!
Wow, I had purchased the lazy Susan hardware, read the package instructions and still had no clear idea how to install it .Your video truly helped me.Thanks
My mind was steaming trying to figure out how to screw both sides... such a simple solution, drilling a hole to screw through haha. Thanks for the good tips!
You are brilliant! I got all my parts together and when it came time to screwing them together, like everyone else here, I was stumped. Your video is excellent!
what do you think about haning a 5kg speaker with a 4in (side) one of these? they seem to be used to mount something on top rather than haning. In mine the bearings are separated so its rotating on the union between the plates rather than the bearings. Im afraid it might break so im looking into ones with a center joint too.
Getting a CNC would make the pocketing much easier. I have some 11" live edge cedar disc's i'm going to do. I'll get a piece of pine to do the base. Great video. oh...and a magnetic ratcheting screwdriver...lol
Yes, a magnetic tool would make that so much easier. Thanks for the input. I would love to get a CNC machine one day. It would make so many things easier.
@@MyNextProject thank you for this tutorial! do the pieces of wood need to be 1 smaller square under 1 large circle? I have two identical round pieces of wood. Do I need to cut one (the bottom one) to make it smaller or square shape?
Would it work if you didn't create the recesses with the router? The top and bottom pieces would be farther apart, but it would still work, wouldn't it?
So if you have a counter that has an open spot you can't get to this would be good. But if your shelf or bottom is not removable you have to do all this from the inside or lose shelf space correct? Shelf space would be lost on the bottom but possible you could do it for a top shelf if you can get inside it to work.
Most of the lazy susans will tell you what they are rated for weight wise. If it is on a ceiling that would be a handing weight, and I am not sure how they would hold up.
A little sloppy, but you’re not teaching woodworking! Thanks for clarifying that installation process. That piece of wood is gorgeous! Is that hickory?
You should make videos of you presenting your dates or your partner with these profess lazy susans. That spin you did on was epic. Smooth!! Btw, this is not sarcasm.
Good afternoon. Today I watched your video and you have very good information. My wife needs me to make a couple of these lazy susan's. What is the purpose of routing out the bottom? Is this routing really needed? Thank you againa nd have a good day and be safe.
No it isn't necessary. If you don't route the bottom it will make the lazy susan a little taller. Basically, when you route the bottom, it takes part of the height of the lazy susan hardware out of the total height of the entire lazy susan. If that makes sense. It is not necessary at all. Thanks for watching and good luck with yours.
1. What is the name of the hardware? 2. What is it originally used for before people started using it for lazy susan? The reason l ask the 2nd question is because it may be used differently. Thank you
Thanks, you've made it so easy. I was wondering if you can please let me know if it makes a difference if you don't route out the timber & just attach the hardware as per instructions? 🇦🇺
You don't have to route out the bottom of it. You can simply just mount the lazy susan. The only difference, is with the ones I purchased you will have a larger gap and it will be that much higher than the surface. It is strictly your preference.
Thank you! So helpful and an ingenious way of solving the problem. I made my base and top, got them all read to go with the hardware and was like... ugh wait a second. Haha This is just what i needed. Edit to add: What are your thoughts on having a rim or little fence around the top of the lazy susan? Is it okay just to have a completely smooth top?
' did put 4 rotating turntable bearings 1- on the table with LED color TV 1- videocamera mount while the RC car-truck spin 1- small deadmaus dance with plastic balls without grease 1- plastic balls on the plastic rotating bearing without grease for RC trailer
I have seen the comments for sanding sealer and I plan on trying it pretty soon. My local Home Depot did not have any the last time I went in to buy some.
There's no need to buy ready made sanding sealer. Just mix 2 parts of your finish coat (polyurethane, etc.) with 1 part paint thinner. Adjust the formula to include more thinner depending upon the density of he wood. Sanding sealer is little more than a thinned finish coat which allows it to penetrate the wood deeper.
That is true, but if you have specific wood that you want to use it might be worth it. I believe I paid right $10 for a pack of 4 lazy susan hardware. Thanks for watching.
Great information, easy to follow. My only suggestion would be to use Robertson head screws (Square drive),
they work well in tight places.

Cool story.

I needed the hardware for furniture I am making and I was so clueless as to how to install it. This video makes it really clear now!

Finally! A USEFUL tip for sleeking the hardware that most of us wouldn't think of off the bat! Thanks!
Thanks for this! Good ol' University of UA-cam.
Wow, I had purchased the lazy Susan hardware, read the package instructions and still had no clear idea how to install it .Your video

This was exactly what I needed. The instructions were clear and I was easily able to follow them. Thank you for the video; it was very helpful.
My mind was steaming trying to figure out how to screw both sides... such a simple solution, drilling a hole to screw through haha. Thanks for the good tips!
l bought hardware from Rockler. I was surprised that there wasn't instructions included. Your video made assembly easy, thanks!
Broken Lazy Susan all fixed thanks to your wonderful video. Many thanks.
Awesome. I am glad this video helped!
Ur way of explaining is perfect my friend thank u
THANKS! The light finally went on here...
Thanks for the video. I just needed to know how to attach the base to the top. Easy peasy.
nice vid and nice work. appreciate your quick pace.
Wish I had watched this video before I installed a lazy Susan hardware to my first, and probably last, LS set up. Thank you
Greetings from Puerto Rico! Thank you very much for this Lazy Susan tutorial video. The best on you tube.👍🏻🤩
Thank you! I was definitely doing things the hard way. Easy instructions.
Glad it helped!!
Thank you; The instructions were clear and I was easily able to follow them. Greetings from N/W England
You sir, are a lifesaver 🙌
You are brilliant! I got all my parts together and when it came time to screwing them together, like everyone else here, I was stumped. Your video is excellent!
What an excellent instructional video. Well done you, and thanks! I am installing on the bottom of an oak spice-caddy for the kitchen.
Awesome. These can be so handy, and are not as hard to install as I first thought.
This was terrific! I have no such tools, but it was still fun to watch your quality work!
Gracias la explicación más clara que e visto mi amigo te felicito, Edgar Vargas de Venezuela
Thanks for making this video - very helpful! Rock on.....
Literally could not figure out how to do this. You go boy!
Thank you for the excellent instructions. You have made an impossible task for me, possible. Great job all the way around.
Awesome. I am glad you are able to do it!!
Cheeky, I was wondering how would you go around fixing the screws. Do that tiny see through hole was the Trick, Tx 4 sharing.

Professional lazy Susan’s coming up! (from the discard bin wood at Home Depot - do they even still have those? I enjoyed isolating too much)
There are easier or better ways to do some of this but, hey, whatever floats your boat. You got the job done and that’s what counts.
Great comment, but, could you please show how you would have done it? I am about to make a couple of lazy susans...
Thank you! Video is out of focus. But still very helpful and informative video.

@@MyNextProject I have been contemplating making these. I have a CNC and pocketing was easy to do. I made one last weekend
Wow, saved me! Thanks for taking the time to share!
No problem. Glad it helped.
Working on my first two lazy susans. Good video. Go Spurs!
Awesome. Good luck with them.
Rough year for the Spurs.
- Good job. Clear, concise demo.
Thank you very much.
Did I miss it? What size screws and bit? Please and thank you!
Very good. Thank you for this. I'm gonna make one today
Clear, wonderful explanation.
I really wish I could put it together like you. I really need many in the house. With best wishes from India it’s going to be great after staining.
Very well explained and understandable for me, a novice. I'm ready to tackle my Lazy Susan pub table
Awesome!! Good luck.
@@MyNextProject thank you for this tutorial! do the pieces of wood need to be 1 smaller square under 1 large circle? I have two identical round pieces of wood. Do I need to cut one (the bottom one) to make it smaller or square shape?
Would you use this same method with a 6” bearing, and 7x18 boards?
Would it work if you didn't create the recesses with the router? The top and bottom pieces would be farther apart, but it would still work, wouldn't it?
Thanks, very timely.
This was a great instruction video!
Awesome. I am glad you liked it!
Great video!! Thank you💙💙
Thanks for this update
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL!!!
This definitely solved my problem on putting a lazy susan on my drawing desk!

1st time someone explains it step by step!!!🙏💕 how much wait can this hold and foes it matter how big each piece of wood is? Thank you in advance
Very great, thank you!
Great technique. Thank you!
I’m looking for a similar blunt but for the ceiling. Can’t find anything. Do you think this could for with 35kg weight?
Most of the lazy susans will tell you what they are rated for weight wise. If it is on a ceiling that would be a handing weight, and I am not sure how they would hold up.
@@MyNextProject That's my problem. I need to find a mounting bracket that rotates 360 degrees for ceiling mounting. Seems impossible to find :(
Like the others have said. Thanks. I have a bunch of these and was wondering wtf I was supposed to do
I am glad the video helped out. Thanks for watching.
A little sloppy, but you’re not teaching woodworking! Thanks for clarifying that installation process. That piece of wood is gorgeous! Is that hickory?
Good video my man, I wonder how they did that. Thanks. New sub

thank you so much 💪💪👏👏
What is the name of the black. "on of these"
Thank you for this video.
Brilliant! Thank you.
I’m guessing if you want to attach the lazy Susan to a cabinet, just make the base larger the the top so you can secure it with screws.
Thank you. 😊

@@MyNextProject This is what I thought, by routing the pieces, the routing takes away the height. Thank you
Where did you buy this hardware from?
thank you so much for this video....Now i can say i got this
Good, I am glad this helps!!
Awesome! thanks for made this video
No problem!!
Can someone tell me how much weight this can support? I need to know because I want to use this to rotate the base of a sun tracker project.
The 6 inch turntable from home depot holds 400 pounds
Excellent video........... what router table are you using ?
CaptainNemo49 it is the Ryobi router table. I picked it up a few years ago pretty cheap so felt like I couldn’t pass it up.
Rub the tip of your Screwdriver on some candle wax it helps hold the screw on the driver
Great👍👍
thank you!
You are welcome.
Thank you for this video

Name of hardware
what is that spinding device called?
I assume you are referring to the black thing on the bottom, that is just lazy susan hardware. Here is a link to where I bought mine:

Thank you.
In a small piece it's very simple I want to see it on an acultual lazy Susan n show when u turn it and not hit the walls
Routers are very useful
They are. You can do so many things.
Can I just attach with glue gun vs screws
Probably not...it probably will not hold
thankyou very much
Doh! Of course. Why didn't I think of that?

Where do you go to get the metal bracket from
I assume you mean the lazy susan hardware. There is a link in the description to amazon where I bought them.
They also have them on eBay
I just bought a $5 one from Home Depot and the instructions say nothing about drilling an access hole. I couldn't make any sense of them.
Hi and hello thank you for the ideas....

You could put a little fence around it.
I have not done that, but most people that buy them put them on the table and don't use them.
Thanks....
Have available 12"×12" sir.
Muito bom .
'
did put 4 rotating turntable bearings
1- on the table with LED color TV
1- videocamera mount while the RC car-truck spin
1- small deadmaus dance with plastic balls without grease
1- plastic balls on the plastic rotating bearing without grease for RC trailer
was wondering why you only drilled one hole then realised it spins
Yes.
Muito bom gracias
Lazy Susaning is a lot of work.
