great job on the dress! I'm a seamstress and when I first started making clothes, taking old clothes apart is what reeeeeaaally helped me understand how pattern making works. If you ever have a garment you know you don't want anymore, rip apart all the seams and lay it down flat. You can also trace all the pieces and build a collection of patterns that you can mix and match later on! It's always so handy to have a nice sleeve pattern that you can use on anything!
I would love to try out sewing too. I have great ideas on design but technical part is may be hard one to get started with. But with some persistence and practice may be it won’t be a problem. It won’t be LOL
Your dress is beautiful. I'm 70, lived in a cabin where we drew water from a well, have made everything from scratch all of my adult life and I STILL find you so inspiring. And Logan too. A big moment in my sewing journey was when I realized how important ironing is (even if it's boring and I hate it!) Ironing the fabric before you cut the pieces, and after every single seam (I know...I know) will help everything fit and lay together so beautifully.

The clouds in the intro were just epic! Coupled with the music, it was such a nice way to open this story. It is beautiful to see how you and Logan are using your talents in synergy to create amazing stories. I can imagine that this deepens your relationship as well. Blessings. (A final thought, consider dousing your outdoor fires before they go to ash and use the charcoal (biochar) to help build the soil. Put the charcoal into a bucket and add water and pee (!!!!) to inoculate it to precharge it with bacteria. The carbon structure in the charcoal is an amazing bacteria substrate, which is how it helps increase soil vitality. The inoculation part is important, as otherwise, it will pull bacteria from the soil before increasing it.)
Ironing every seam really helps with giving hand sewn clothing a more professional finish ! The dress turned out beautifully :) you’ve already made a lot of progress !
I have to say I LOVE Logan's flute playing. It reminds me very much of a group I listen to often called Coyote Oldman. I hope you both get a chance to list to that group here on UA-cam. If Logan decides to create a mediation type album containing compositions of just his flute music, I would definitely buy it!

My parents were both hard workers too. My mother was a doctor in a rural community and did surgery in the mornings, had office hours in the afternoons, made house calls in the evening, responded to all emergencies. I don't remember her ever getting a full night's sleep. She died young. My father, a teacher, took up farming when he was 60 and worked 4 am to midnight. I observed this and have taken a much more pleasure-oriented approach to life. Having hard-working parents made me ambitious and conscientious when I was younger but ultimately I realized what was important for me was to live up to my own expectations, not what it seemed others expected, and what is important to me is to listen to my inner voice to find a way to enjoy my time here.
Yes. My parents were also very hardworking. When growing up, I remember both mom and dad held multiple jobs at the same time. Me and my 3 siblings were latch key kids, my older sister and I watched the two younger ones all the time. I then became very hardworking also holding multiple jobs, never taking time to enjoy life and relax. Finally, and after seemingly not getting far in any career, I decided that is not for me. Then c0v1d hit and forced me to slow down a lot. I am still currently deprogramming and trying not to feel guilty about not working as hard.
Yes, THIS! I often say... we were not put here just to work a shit ton so we can pay bills and then die. We are here to have a human experience. Work is a very small part of that experience (in my opinion)! Our culture and conditioning does not resonate with me. Work hard until you retire (which will be our 70's for most), THEN you can have fun and do what you want. I'm tired many days now...by the time I'm 70, I'm not gonna have the energy to do all that I want to. So, I'm figuring out how to do this NOW (in my 50's)!! I wish I would have started sooner! ;-)

Wow! the intro with Logan playing the Native Flute had me softly crying remembering my Native Ancestors. Great job to both of you on your cinematic introductions and filing. I just love it. It brings across a very real tangible feeling to go with the video. Love your dress Isabell! You nailed it! There is nothing you cant do. Logan Love your new haircut too! Logan is your opposite to teach you how to slow down, for him, you teach him to get more involved. Its all about balance. I used to work work work too. I used to work a job, go to the gym for a few hours then go home cook dinner, shower then clean the house till bed time and repeat this. I was not even able to watch a movie without squirming and needing to get moving. Over the last 3 yrs I have been being taught by Spirit to slow down and let things come to me without forcing them. Also an idea for a hot bath .... get yourself an old claw foot tub and build a fire pit under it and light it up when you want to have a nice hot bath! The Flute in the beginning was simply amazing. Very talented. You may not see the Cougar. They can climb and sit in a tree just watching you. Probably safest to keep your kitties by your side for awhile. The dress is adorable, you did a great job!

Your dress came out beautiful Isabel. I started sewing at 6 when my grandma (who was a tailor) sent me an actual functional tiny sewing machine. I used it with moms supervision to make dolly clothes at first. Always loved visualizing & creating. I graduated fashion school, worked in the industry for 30 plus years as a pattern maker and designer and am almost 60 now. I admire your drive to create whatever you want (including your life). You never say, "I cant." You want to do it and so, you do. Stay that way. To have such freedom of thought and spirit, You are truly blessed. The Flute! Gosh, I felt like a baby being soothed! So meditative! Every girl dreams about that dress! Wonderful job! I would recommend embroidering it with flowers that you are inspired by to give it more color. Beautiful, everything is so beautiful! I'm glad you're starting to feel that it's Ok to slow down, take a break, and still feel worthy. I've also learned Zen from my partner. It has such an interesting effect: you find time to relax, gain energy, and then your next project turns out to be done with much less stress. So, it prevents you from burning out.

Isn’t it funny how you struggle with resting, yet your videos are so calming and restful? I love the balance Logan is bringing to your life, and his music is perfect for your footage. Just beautiful. I can relate to having parents who didn’t rest, or rather one parent whose constant need to stay busy affected the vibe of the rest of the family (when we tried to rest, we got the message we were being lazy, not contributing). No one thought to ask why that person felt the need to stay busy, what he was running from. Rest is an act of obedience, submission, and surrender to our original design. It’s really counterproductive to believe we’re better off living against that design. In those moments we don’t know what’s best for us. Proud of you, Isabel, for connecting to your original design and surrendering to rest. Your body and spirit will thank you for years to come.

Ironing serves many purposes. The dry heat of an iron can and does reduce unwanted small no see-ems. Such beauty, always a joy to see and hear your work. Those natural creations of life. You are getting better. Doesn't cotton shrink? Have you tried bamboo and hemp? They are some of my favorite fabrics to have on. The bamboo naturally resists decay and hemp is so good for the Earth 🌎. I really connected with what you were saying at 15:00. I'm someone who doesn't feel comfortable relaxing as a person. I get bad anxiety when I'm not doing something. I also struggle with a guilt complex and fear of not living up to a standard that has been put on me by my parents. My father has worked a lot and he is also hard on himself and created a lot of stress in the home. I would love to live the way you and Logan live. The scenery is beautiful, and life is simple. I hope I can find a friend like Logan so maybe I can learn to be more zen and allow life to flow.

Isabel you did an amazing job on creating the pattern and sewing that dress, it's beautiful! i used to sew my own clothes when i was a teenager and seeing you create this wonderful garment brought back so many memories. and Logan with the flute in the beginning, the mist, everything...love love love. don't feel bad for taking care of yourself, you can't be your best self otherwise. and yeah it's hard, i can so relate. one thing i would like to suggest is "no till" methods for planting - so much better for the microorganisms in the soil and easier on you ;) much love to you and Logan

Good seeing you sewing...a suggestion is using an ironing machine to help you getting a good size on your clothing...being a tall person I really needed to make it sure about size, specially adjust from different sizes...and I love using some of the patterns I found ever since I started. Walmart has a good offer of fabrics and patterns, and once you get used to it your choices will flow too....again just sharing my experiences 😎🥰 another wonderful feeling about sewing is feeling so happy accomplishing something ....feeling busy and not feeling concerned with or about anything ... and I also found that my friend always needed help, so I always had a chance to get some work as well.

Love the intro so much!! First step is to iron every step of the way. Iron the fabric before cutting and it would have been great to take the old dress apart, iron the pieces and use them as the pattern template, adding a 1/4 inch all around for new seam allowance. Your end result was really good though.
completely resonated with you when you said you are unable to rest, two years ago I too realised I had tied my personal worth to achieving and always doing. What a revelation that was, and something I worked on with a coach. Life changing stuff, when you realise this. I now revel in rest, and do not push myself to achieve because I am worthy just as I am and so are you lovely!

I really resonated with your parting comments about self-worth being tied up in constant activity. I find as I get older (I'm almost 66), I feel like I'm running out of time. And that kind of thinking just leads to more activity. I have an active, creative mind...so there is no end to ideas and projects. BUT, the Zen It Will Get Done attitude is one I long to have.

A big moment in my sewing journey was when I realized how important ironing is (even if it's boring and I hate it!) Ironing the fabric before you cut the pieces, and after every single seam (I know...I know) will help everything fit and lay together so beautifully.

The clouds in the intro were just epic! Coupled with the music, it was such a nice way to open this story. It is beautiful to see how you and Logan are using your talents in synergy to create amazing stories. I can imagine that this deepens your relationship as well. Blessings. (A final thought, consider dousing your outdoor fires before they go to ash and use the charcoal (biochar) to help build the soil. Put the charcoal into a bucket and add water and pee (!!!!) to inoculate it to precharge it with bacteria. The carbon structure in the charcoal is an amazing bacteria substrate, which is how it helps increase soil vitality. The inoculation part is important, as otherwise, it will pull bacteria from the soil before increasing it.)
Ironing every seam really helps with giving hand sewn clothing a more professional finish ! The dress turned out beautifully :) you’ve already made a lot of progress !

My parents were both hard workers too. My mother was a doctor in a rural community and did surgery in the mornings, had office hours in the afternoons, made house calls in the evening, responded to all emergencies. I don't remember her ever getting a full night's sleep. She died young. My father, a teacher, took up farming when he was 60 and worked 4 am to midnight. I observed this and have taken a much more pleasure-oriented approach to life. Having hard-working parents made me ambitious and conscientious when I was younger but ultimately I realized what was important for me was to live up to my own expectations, not what it seemed others expected, and what is important to me is to listen to my inner voice to find a way to enjoy my time here.
Yes. My parents were also very hardworking. When growing up, I remember both mom and dad held multiple jobs at the same time. Me and my 3 siblings were latch key kids, my older sister and I watched the two younger ones all the time. I then became very hardworking also holding multiple jobs, never taking time to enjoy life and relax. Finally, and after seemingly not getting far in any career, I decided that is not for me. Then c0v1d hit and forced me to slow down a lot. I am still currently deprogramming and trying not to feel guilty about not working as hard.

Yes, THIS! I often say... we were not put here just to work a shit ton so we can pay bills and then die. We are here to have a human experience. Work is a very small part of that experience (in my opinion)! Our culture and conditioning does not resonate with me. Work hard until you retire (which will be our 70's for most), THEN you can have fun and do what you want. I'm tired many days now...by the time I'm 70, I'm not gonna have the energy to do all that I want to. So, I'm figuring out how to do this NOW (in my 50's)!! I wish I would have started sooner! ;-)

When making patterns, don’t forget to add the seam allowances (where you sew). Generally clothing is 5/8”, Home decor sewing is 1/2” to each side.

Wow! the intro with Logan playing the Native Flute had me softly crying remembering my Native Ancestors. Great job to both of you on your cinematic introductions and filing. I just love it. It brings across a very real tangible feeling to go with the video. Love your dress Isabell! You nailed it! There is nothing you cant do. Logan Love your new haircut too! Logan is your opposite to teach you how to slow down, for him, you teach him to get more involved. Its all about balance. I used to work work work too. I used to work a job, go to the gym for a few hours then go home cook dinner, shower then clean the house till bed time and repeat this. I was not even able to watch a movie without squirming and needing to get moving. Over the last 3 yrs I have been being taught by Spirit to slow down and let things come to me without forcing them.
Also an idea for a hot bath .... get yourself an old claw foot tub and build a fire pit under it and light it up when you want to have a nice hot bath!

Your dress came out beautiful Isabel. I started sewing at 6 when my grandma (who was a tailor) sent me an actual functional tiny sewing machine. I used it with moms supervision to make dolly clothes at first. Always loved visualizing & creating. I graduated fashion school, worked in the industry for 30 plus years as a pattern maker and designer and am almost 60 now.
I admire your drive to create whatever you want (including your life). You never say, "I cant." You want to do it and so, you do. Stay that way. To have such freedom of thought and spirit, You are truly blessed. Although I am old now and running out of time, I am truly inspired by you. Thank you.

Isn’t it funny how you struggle with resting, yet your videos are so calming and restful? I love the balance Logan is bringing to your life, and his music is perfect for your footage. Just beautiful. I can relate to having parents who didn’t rest, or rather one parent whose constant need to stay busy affected the vibe of the rest of the family (when we tried to rest, we got the message we were being lazy, not contributing). No one thought to ask why that person felt the need to stay busy, what he was running from. Rest is an act of obedience, submission, and surrender to our original design. It’s really counterproductive to believe we’re better off living against that design. In those moments we don’t know what’s best for us. Proud of you, Isabel, for connecting to your original design and surrendering to rest. Your body and spirit will thank you for years to come.

Ironing serves many purposes. The dry heat of an iron can and does reduce unwanted small no see-ems. Such beauty, always a joy to see and hear your work. Those natural creations of life. You are getting better. Doesn't cotton shrink? Have you tried bamboo and hemp? They are some of my favorite fabrics to have on. The bamboo naturally resists decay and hemp is so good for the Earth 🌎. I really connected with what you were saying at 15:00. I'm someone who doesn't feel comfortable relaxing as a person. I get bad anxiety when I'm not doing something. I also struggle with a guilt complex and fear of not living up to a standard that has been put on me by my parents. My father has worked a lot and he is also hard on himself and created a lot of stress in the home. I would love to live the way you and Logan live. The scenery is beautiful, and life is simple. I hope I can find a friend like Logan so maybe I can learn to be more zen and allow life to flow.

Good seeing you sewing...a suggestion is using an ironing machine to help you getting a good size on your clothing...being a tall person I really needed to make it sure about size, specially adjust from different sizes...and I love using some of the patterns I found ever since I started. Walmart has a good offer of fabrics and patterns, and once you get used to it your choices will flow too....again just sharing my experiences 😎🥰 another wonderful feeling about sewing is feeling so happy accomplishing something ....feeling busy and not feeling concerned with or about anything ... and I also found that my friend always needed help, so I always had a chance to get some work as well.

Love the intro so much!! First step is to iron every step of the way. Iron the fabric before cutting and it would have been great to take the old dress apart, iron the pieces and use them as the pattern template, adding a 1/4 inch all around for new seam allowance. Your end result was really good though.
completely resonated with you when you said you are unable to rest, two years ago I too realised I had tied my personal worth to achieving and always doing. What a revelation that was, and something I worked on with a coach. Life changing stuff, when you realise this. I now revel in rest, and do not push myself to achieve because I am worthy just as I am and so are you lovely!

I really resonated with your parting comments about self-worth being tied up in constant activity. I find as I get older (I'm almost 66), I feel like I'm running out of time. And that kind of thinking just leads to more activity. I have an active, creative mind...so there is no end to ideas and projects. BUT, the Zen It Will Get Done attitude is one I long to have.
