There is only one thing better than watching Nightwish, and that is watching someone else reacting with such joy to watching a Nightwish song for the first time.
I have been listening to good music since 1967, through the psychedelic era, then the hard rock era through the progressive rock era, jazz/rock fusion era, neo-classical rock and so on...then I heard Nightwish. After 50 years of searching for "the one" I have finally found what I have been desperately looking for. And yes, it is Nightwish. At my age now I don't need to 'discover' any new genres, my genre is Nightwish.
From the momment she takes the mic, Floor's huge smile (and huge voice) are completely captivating. The whole band is having so much fun that the audience cant' help being swept along for the ride.
At this show, Floor had only been with the band about 10 months. She wasn’t a full member. She was a fill in vocalist. They won the jackpot because she is a goddess!🤘🎸
Nightwish , Ladies and Gentlemen !!! They have opened the Valhalla gates , and now the Valkyrie Goddess walks among us 🤘🤩🤘!!! This is one of three great openings from them ("Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and now "Music" intro followed by "Noise" ). The whole show is fantastic. And… there’s also so much more to discover from the band beyond that. Nuff Said !!!! Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia 🤘😎🤘.
Nightwish is joy and your face reflected that so well. They work together so well, and compliment each other so perfectly. This, and their show opener "Shudder Before the Beautiful" are both absolute bangers. They're bound to raise your energy and get you totally into the mood for the rest of the show. Already excited for your next Nightwish reaction, whatever it may be.
Your channel and reactions are a joy. Thank you. Whenever anyone reacts to this show opener from Nightwish, my first thought is always, man wait until they see the next show opener, Shudder before the Beautiful at Wembley!
The only times shes forgot words is this song, Birmingham UK Nov 2021, I was there and she burst out laughing at herself. Also I could see Tuomas keyboard and was stunned how much he played that I thought was prerecorded.
Thank you for your Amazing Reviews, You are doing an Amazing Job Lady, We the Nightwish Army Love you, We can see your pure joy in your face, of just how much you love this band, and just so know, my wife and I were at this concert and we were stood 10 rows from the front centre stage, We will NEVER EVER forget this Night of a life time, We can only compare it to, the joy we had, when our first child was born. Also we have seen Nightwish 24 times all over Europe, and the UK. the last time two times where at Wembley Arena, and Birmingham Arena in December 2022, and Yes we do live in the UK, keep them coming and the Army will follow you. 🔥💗
Your face said it all, so much joy watching Nightwish and Floor doing her thing! Floor is an amazing vocal beast - a Valkyrie in fact! The talent of the band is incredible, and Tuomas’s composition and arrangement are amazing, well beyond amazing…… Nice reaction and gobsmackedness, enjoyed it! 🌹
And if there isn't such as word as 'gobsmackedness' then there ought to be - sums up so many, many people's reactions to Nightwish. How I wish I could forget all the Nightwish I have heard just so that I could hear it all again for the first time..... and be full of gobsmackedness myself....
Many in the audience had never heard Floor with Nightwish before this, and she hit the stage like a boss, took the crowd by the throat and never let go. Was something to behold.
Loved your reaction! This was Floor's coming out party for Nightiwsh's huge European fan base. She had joined Nightwish in the middle of the North American leg of the Imaganerium tour about 10 months earlier. The band and her had mainly been playing shows in North and South America before Wacken, only doing a few small shows in Europe just before. The crowd size shows how big Nightwish was even before Floor joined the band, however Floor was not completely unknown. Many fans knew her from her previous bands After Forever and Revamp. The fanbase was eager to see what the Nightwish/Floor combo was going to be. I love how Floor just strode out on to that stage and just stole every ones heart. People have mentioned Shudder Before the Beautiful as a banger opener and it is but I also love Noise which was the show opener for the Human Nature tour which was my first live Nightwish experience (best concert of my life). Unfortunately because they don't have the same exposure here in North America they play much smaller venues (2000 to 3000 instead of 10,000 in Europe) and don't have the massive stage production. No pyro, no video wall. Good light show and man do they bring the energy.
Such an epic opener! Now that you've experienced this, you need to check out "Shudder Before the Beautiful" from Wembley. That's an equally epic (though very different) opener!
Best opener ever! If you could pour that energy into a battery, you could drive an EV around the world. Seriously, we're talking about the greatest composer of my lifetime (and I'm an old fart) with the band built to play his compositions. Each one is perfect and they fit together to form the perfect combination for these great songs. Just remember ... your favorite Nightwish song will always be the one to whcih you are currently listening. Another fun reaction!!
Glad you enjoy Nightwish. Little story about how they started working with Pip Williams when they made the Once album. Ghost Love Score and Dark Chest Of Wonders can be found on the album. Pip Williams played a big role on all of Nightwish's (and also Tuomas' solo album) albums 2004-2020. Here's a clip from their book and timeline is year 2003-04: ---------------------- From the very start, Tuomas had a strong feeling that Once had to have an orchestra, come what ever may. After finishing the recording of backing tracks, the process continued in London with the legendary producer Pip Williams at the helm. Known for his work for the likes Status Quo and Uriah Heep, Williams was responsible for the orchestrations on the album. When the Nightwish guys heard what orchestra they would be working with, their jaws hit the floor. "As Ewo and I traveled to London at the end of November to meet Pip Williams, we had no clue about the orchestra he'd gotten for us", Tuomas says. "The only thing we knew was that Williams himself would do the arrangements and that through his connections, he would hook us up with an orchestra and a choir. The first time we visited Phoenix Sound Studio, Rick Wakeman (the keyboard player of the legendary progressive rock band Yes) opened the door for us. That's when we realized we're onto something big. As we were having coffee in the studio, Pip dropped the bomb: the orchestra in question had played on The Lord of the Rings, as well as on many other Hollywood soundtracks - all recorded in this studio!" It seems that Pip Williams wanted only the best for a band he held in great respect. "I have followed the band for some time, and it's been interesting to see how they have developed. Of course Rock bands like Deep Purple have previously used orchestras, but I really feel that Nightwish have combined the best of both worlds most successfully. They are a classic Metal band with strong classical and movie-score influences in their music." "It was important for me that it would not be just about over-dubbing a few orchestral parts on top of a Rock band", Williams continues. "Tuomas' compositions were brilliant also in the sense that choir and orchestra could be added naturally, so that they don't sound pretentious or contrived. This is of utmost importance. The songs must be structured so as to allow the orchestra enough space. In the end, the results were quite emotive. Also, let us not forget just how good all the musicians in Nightwish are. They are perfectly sympathetic to Tuomas' vision. And Tarja's (1st lead singer) wonderful voice has done the songs great justice." Williams knew his orchestra well. "I have worked with most of the players on different sessions for many years. Gavin Wright is a sensitive and authoritative orchestra leader, and together with Isobel Griffiths, the orchestral contractor, we were able to secure just the right musicians for each song. Anthony Pleeth, who has the lead cellist and played solo cello on 'Kuolema tekee taiteilijan', is one such example. These guys have done many, many big movie scores, as have the wonderful Metro Voices choir, and I thought this project required the kind of grandiose performance one would find on movie soundtracks by, say, Howard Shore." Tuomas could not have been more excited about the situation. "Using the orchestra was an earthshaking experience. I only had to lie on the studio couch for two days, listening to these amazingly talented people. During the first takes, someone said into the mike, 'Are these guys really serious?'. When we began 'Ghost Love Score', a positive kind of bewilderment took over the orchestra. That, as well as 'Dark Chest of Wonders', were the first ones we recorded." Williams was equally happy with his orchestra. "These musicians are such brilliant sight readers that it wasn't necessary to do more than a couple of rehearsals. Then we'd have a take or two of each song. It all went very smoothly. After the takes, I would check that Tuomas was happy, and then we would move on. If there was anything he wanted changed, it would be dealt with in a very short time. I must say, however, that we had prepared very well - I had been constantly on the phone with Tuomas when I was writing the arrangements. Yes, I ended up making a huge phone bill! But the groundwork paid off, as only a few small alterations were necessary." Tuomas and Pip Williams immediately hit it off on a personal level. "Tuomas is sensitive, caring, very observant - he's what the English call a musical sponge", Williams commends. "It means he is always willing to try new ideas and absorbs the musical influences around him like a sponge. Tuomas always wants to learn more about music, its origins and sound. He has very firm ideas of what he is trying to achieve, but he also leaves space for those working with him to express themselves. He is humble, appreciative and approachable, one of the most talented musicians or composers I have ever worked with. I really think he would make an original and effective movie score composer, and I definetely want to collaborate with Tuomas again in the future - in fact, we're already talking about the next venture. I would also love to collaborate with him on a movie score at some point." "Many times the players would come into the control room afterwards to listen to the takes, and according to Pip, that's something that doesn't happen very often," Tuomas says. "They're usually not that interested - they just do their job and leave, but now they actually listened to the songs. At the end of the last day, as I went down to thank the orchestra, they started applauding, standing up from their seats. It was one of those great moments in life." According to Williams, a Pop or Rock artist rarely receives a standing ovation. "The musicians respected the quality of the songs and the challenge of playing such intricate and well structured music. You must remember that these guys also do simple pop sessions, songs that are very easy to play. With Nightwish, they were able to play stuff that was often as demanding as many of the classical pieces they had trained on. This was so much more than just simple 3-chord songs in 4/4 time. And let's not forget that they also had great respect for people that were prepared to take such a huge musical and financial risk, all for the sake of art! Remember, these were very expensive sessions. I'm very satisfied with my own reward for the arrangements, too." "There is alwas a degree of compromise when mixing a Metal band with a large orchestra, as it's such a huge sound, but all in all, I'm really pleased with the end result", Pip reflects. "The main thing is that we have established a great identity with Nightwish and the orchestra, and our cooperation could be even better in the future. Seriously, Once is one of the most enjoyable projects in my career, and I've done this for 35 years!"
Oh how I love seeing the joy in your face while watching Nightwish. They really do have that effect on people and that makes them special. And if you liked the opener you just have to watch the closer that’s called Last Ride Of the Day. The pyo guys really outdid themselves on that one! 👍🏻🤘
Did you notice there were girls in the crowd sitting on people's shoulders. There is one girl who seems to be up there for the whole concert as you see her in every track. I got to give kudos to whoever she is sitting on, strength and stamina, fantastic.
I love ❤ Nightwish...Floor is powerful Woman ..is the best front woman in the world and top 5 of the best front singers on the planet ..is amazing...Sublime soprano and Metal Queen...Is the Natural Force ..Hail to the Queen Floor Jansen
Hello GINX MEDIA, nice to have you here again ! This NW music is a world wide understanding we all share deep in our soul, not only because it´s music, but because it´s genius music, with deep wise lyrics, presented by a genius composer Tuomas, fronted by a genius lady, and super super talented musicians. Nightwish is always more than the sum of its parts ! I´m glad you decided to go on with us, Nightwish fans. Greets from Finland ! Take care.
You just watched Floor's first song in front of an audience as a permanent member of the band, & the audience didn’t even know it, for they announced it with the release of their album later in the year that she & Troy were now permanent members. When you watch the whole concert you see how happy the guys are as she sings. At the end Floor is very emotional. She was not long out of serious burnout, & that night looking out at that sea of adoring faces, as tbe singer for NW, the band her previous band had opened for in 2004. This was a huge night for her, Have you watched the NW documentary, "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours" yet?
Your smile when watching is infectious. Like you I have fallen into the rabbit hole. All of the band are consummate professionals and unlike some bands they always have fun with each other and their audience. It doesn't matter what mood I may be in at the time watching their performances just elevates me to a place of happiness. Outside of the Nightwish performances I have other favourites. Floor and Simon Simons (Epica lead singer) singing Stabat Mater Dolorosa at the Epica Retrospect 10th Anniversary Live Concert, Floor on the 2019 Beste Zangers Tv series singing The Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and many others. Marco ,Troy, Toumas and Kai Hato all have their own side projects and make for great watching.
This is how you really open a concert But I have one wish, please have a look at the closing number "Last Ride OF The Day" from the concert in Wacken 2013. The pyro show alone will blow you out of your shoes.
Great reaction again. Maybe next show opener from their 2015 & 2016 tour "Shudder Before Beautiful", Live Wembley, opener 2018 tour intro "Swanheart"/opener"End all Hope" Live Buenos Aires 2018 or opener 2022 & 2023 tour, " Noise" NIGHTWISH Masters Of Rock 2022 Noise & Tribal REMASTERED, This is also song "Tribal".
Well, your face said everything there is to say - and I gound myself grinning like an idiot watching you watching them. I think there's a strong argument for just working your way through this incredible show in order, which would mean watching 'I wish I had an Angel' next 🤘
So nice to see you pop up with a new reaction! You've got a lot of views already after 2 hours. Yes, you found the opener this time. Did I see it right you smiled because of Floor's face towards the crowd after that belt? As if she was saying: "isn't this cool?!" She's communicating all the time. So does Emppu by the way, the guitarist. He's so hilarious you almost forget how brilliant he is. Well, Floor loves performing live and she loves to sing so much and you can tell watching her.
Looking at that massive grin on your face was glorious. I love how music can bring out feelings in people. ^_^ This is a great start to a fantastic concert, but personally I feel that their opening at Wembley in 2015, "Shudder before the beautiful" is the best opener to any show I've seen. I saw them live in '21 opening with "Noise", but that particular song you really should experience through their music video and not a live show. You'll understand when you eventually (inevitably?) get to it.
One of the great show openers. That is how you do it. 🤘🤘. Song is from the 2004 album, Once. It also opened the 2005 Helsinki concert(End of an Era DVD), the last with original lead singer Tarja Turunen. The words "Dark Chest of Wonders' appear on the dedication page of a 1978 Stephen King novel. Tuomas is well read, and well versed in music, taking inspiration from many authors, poets, and composers. You've only scratched the surface. ☺. I know you have more from this concert on your 'to do' list, if you want another of their great concert openers, try "Shudder Before the Beautiful" at Tampere 2015 or Wembley 2015. They are far from the only quality symphonic metal band. Recommend a band called EPICA, female fronted as well. If this sounds good, try "Consign to Oblivion" live at the Zenith in Paris, or "Code of Life" live in Amsterdam at AFAS Live 2023.
One of the best phrases was used by another reactor. She called Floor a "Charisma Bomb". Floor absolutely makes the stage explode with her talent . Thanks for the post and keep doing this, you're good at it. TC.
Hi Ginx - this was just the band warming up.... I know you will pick several different songs from this Wacken 2013 set to listen to, and many people will tell you their favourites - but when you have reacted to them all, do yourself a favour, grab a libation or two of your choice and listen to the whole 15 set performance in one sitting in the order they performed the songs. And then tell me that of all the gigs performed by all the bands throughout the world that this is not the one you would have most wished to have been at.
That's how you open a concert, right? Let's paint the picture again for a moment. Floor joined the band as an emergency temporary replacement because Nightwish's singer Anette Olzon struggled with health (and other) issues in the middle of the North America leg of their Imaginaerum World Tour. End September 2012, during her sister Irene's wedding festivities, Floor received a phone call from Nightwish's management asking her to please urgently join the band to fill in for Anette to enable the band to continue the tour. Only 24 hours later she had her debut with Nightwish on October 1st, 2012 in Denver. She managed to 'survive' the first concerts reasonably well and bit by bit started to make a name for herself in the Americas. After the American leg the band returned to Europe where after a holiday break they performed in a few smaller festivals. Yet the band's focus was Wacken 2013, Europe's biggest metal festival, where they were the main act on August 3rd, 2013; Floor being with the band for 10 months and some change. Of course there were hardcore Floor fans who knew her from her first band After Forever as well as her band ReVamp among the 82,000 crowd but the majority of the festival goers were full of anxiety and tension about Nightwish's new front woman. The main question in everyone's mind was 'Can she fill Tarja Turunen's (their first front woman) boots? Well, you saw what happened after the first few bars she sang from Dark Chest of Wonders ........ and the rest is history. Sorry for the long read but I hope to have provided some interesting trivia. Kind regards from the Dutch Mountains!
THIS is how you open a big festival show! Well, really, Any show. Probably why this song has been a frequent choice for slot 1. Another really good react. Thanks. Please enjoy your NW trail! All I'll add here is another aspect of these live performance experiences. We know many NW compositions include background choral tracks. You'll note, if you pay attention, that whenever one of these pieces is performed live the crowd are enthusiastically singing All those track lines.
One of greatest openings to a show, by any band, you are ever going to see. Such energy and power. Very jealous of everyone who was there. Great reaction. Keep up the good work. Greetings from the Nightwish Army (Sydney, Australia Division) 🇦🇺🤘
Hello again, Ginx. Now that is how you open a show. Fun indeed. This was another great reaction. Every song in this concert was spectacular... and they have done many more legendary shows since. Loved your reaction. Thank you.
Lovely reaction, Gina. I just adore this band. 🙂 Floor is an enchantress - she draws you in, enthralls and seduces you. The whole band is incredible .... they make me grin like a maniac one minute, then bring tears to my eyes the next. Keep up the Nightwish reactions, and I for one, as a new subscriber, will enjoy watching your journey of discovery. I think you would enjoy "Shudder Before the Beautiful" and "7 Days to the Wolves" (both live at Wembley, 2015). For something more emotive, but vocally stunning, try "Sleeping Sun" (at Masters of Rock) or my personal favourite, "Dead Boys Poem" (live at Buenos Aires). All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.
This whole Wacken concert is an experience but maybe listen to the closing number, Last Ride Of The Day, to realise that there was no drop in energy during the complete show. Of course any song is great the penultimate is one of my favourites, Song Of Myself.
Treat yourself to watching on an HDTV and in a darkened room with sound reactive LED lighting. Watching the Wacken 2013 Blu-ray/YT vids makes me want to upgrade the 42" to a 55-60" HDTV. 🙂

you might like Unleash the Archers and their song Awakening, since you had so much fun with Jinjer's studio video. if you are in the mood for more harsh vocals give Arch Enemy a shot with their song Handshake with Hell. I'm sure you are getting all kinds of suggestions so I will limit myself, lol! I'm glad you are having such a great time with this, it is amazing the amount of music I didn't know was out there before my own reactions rabbit hole and where all listening to Nightwish has taken me.
It was amazing song for opening that show 🙉 But in my opinion there is one even better - Shudder before the beautiful from Wembley concert 😌 Hopefully you’ll get there soon 🤞☺️ Enjoy the journey! 😊
You have to make a distinction between Floor on stage and Floor off stage. Worlds apart. Off stage she is modest, friendly and even a bit shy. During repetitions (according to people who worked with her recently) she has absolute hearing capability, hears every slight mistake by anyone, she is the ultimate perfectionist (for herself, but also for all the others on the production) but she is patient and creates a family like cosy atmosphere around her.
When it comes to Floor when your Beautiful, Very Talented, Strong and Empowering, Kind and Empathic, Funny and sometimes goofy. No wonder so many Men and Women are in love with Floor what an Amazing Human she is. Here's another example please check out this song Floor had done to raise money for these poor children who suffered from fighting and War. The song is called The fight goes on ( War Child ).
The smile on your face says it all. Nightwish is good old fashioned F U N. I found them maybe 5 years ago now and they never fail to amaze me. Man, they're blast of fresh air ! ! BTW, that extra heart you feel in your chest is Marko's bass lines killin' it.
You DO realize, now, that you've dug yourself into a whole new rabbit hole, right? The Nightwish rabbit hole is one of the most fun and emotional rabbit holes you'll encounter, as a music reactor. From here, you might as well fulfill this beginning...and just react to the full Wacken 2013 show, from this band. Trust us. You'll be glad you did!
Some of that may have been post production work for the DVD...but EVERY one of their live shows seem to have GREAT sound. Their sound guys are best of the best.
There was post production for the DVD [thank you Marco], but having heard them live and having worked front of house on the road I can tell you they have one of the best crews and mixes in the business.
Like the best bands, Nightwish brings their own dedicated crew and gear. They are so valuable that during the COVID shutdown Nightwish supported them as they recorded their own covers album: 'Crewish'.
I concur what others have I love your style the fact you watch this band including Floor with such joy on your face. Keep in mind that while Floor our Valkyrie Goddess Metal Queen is wowing the audience both in person and through the video that Tuomas wrote, composed and arranged (with help from Pip Williams with the orchestrations) and lyrics (his poetry). So while Floor is singing the words are Toumas’s (Keyboards).
this song is another one that is very good at sights and sounds dynamically and musical elements and the sound of the choir and did you hear that crowd
And thats the Video i always think of, when Galadriel Actor from the triology(C. Blanchet) ask Harley Quin Actress(M. Robbie) in an Talkshow, "Does anyone like Heavy Metal Music?" ua-cam.com/video/4LV2gYCwMlg/v-deo.html - That one is to be shove down Her Senses:), without the Chance to interrupt or response before End:) Stay healthy! Ginx, Hello Mme.0dBm, a whole 1mW into 600Ω. Super to see you again and your enjoyment of Nightwish. Now, lets dig into this, Tuomas writes from observation and experiences. You know he has some well used pseudonyms for himself in lyrics with references thereto, so when you have boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul in a lyric, it is Tuomas referencing himself and sometimes speaking directly to you. Remember this well as your journey continues. The dark chest did and maybe does still exist, Tuomas as a small child found it in his grand parents attic full of toys and story books that carried his imagination off in excitement to all manner of wondrous places. Therefore throughout this song Floor sings "of the one” in a very high head voice, just as you might expect from an extremely excited small child, that being Tuomas himself. Now look at the lyrics again and it all makes sense, Tuomas never includes notes or lyrics that are "fillers" or embellishment, it is all there for a very good reason, sometimes almost impenetrable or ambiguous. "Of the one with pure heart, once so long ago", Tuomas the Peter Pan child. Richard. The seriously superannuated British overseas detachment of the Nightwish Army, central SW France.
In how wonderful! I get so caught up in the music and just pure beauty how how it all sounds and that energy exchange that I forget to dive into and truly pay attention to the lyrics! Thank you!
I can tell you feel it Ginx! Exhilarating! The 2nd song is a big Nightwish single. "Wish I Had An Angel". Another great one. ua-cam.com/video/CbbGdTBkKnY/v-deo.html - 🎼 NIGHTWISH 🎶 Wish I Had An Angel 🎶 Live At Wacken 2013 ☢ CORRECT SPEED ☢
Smiles all around! 😊 Suggestion...... Since you just did the opener, why not just continue with the whole concert and skip the ones you already did? Love your smile btw, it's contagious. 😊 Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤️🤘🤘
Girl you got it bad for Nightwish!! 😅. Totally understandable. Since I discovered them 6 months ago, they've actually sort of ruined other music for me now. It's totally up to you, but since you clearly get the vibe of this concert, just a thought, but perhaps you want to do the set list in order? Next up would be Wish I Had An Angel. But really, no matter what you do, it'll be great! All the best! ❤✌️🤘
THAT is how an epic band opens an epic show. Man, I wish I had been there......
There is only one thing better than watching Nightwish, and that is watching someone else reacting with such joy to watching a Nightwish song for the first time.
no You dont...you didnt just used the one Liner i wanted to use to not write an little Roman:) ..ok i concur, thx Lady for the Recap!
Totally agree
Tru dat!
Best moment of this song for me: at 4:04 Marko and Emppu making a scissor movement to let the queen enter the stage😍
Beyond the Pale
Nightwish is joy and your face reflected that so well. They work together so well, and compliment each other so perfectly. This, and their show opener "Shudder Before the Beautiful" are both absolute bangers. They're bound to raise your energy and get you totally into the mood for the rest of the show. Already excited for your next Nightwish reaction, whatever it may be.
Your channel and reactions are a joy. Thank you. Whenever anyone reacts to this show opener from Nightwish, my first thought is always, man wait until they see the next show opener, Shudder before the Beautiful at Wembley!
Wow, thank you☺️
It's a battle of two motherships for opener specialists.

Your face said it all, so much joy watching Nightwish and Floor doing her thing!
Floor is an amazing vocal beast - a Valkyrie in fact! The talent of the band is incredible, and Tuomas’s composition and arrangement are amazing, well beyond amazing……
Nice reaction and gobsmackedness, enjoyed it!

Noted!
The best show opener of the 2000's. ⛄👍
I don't know about that. Within Temptation's Black Symphony concert in 2008 comes real, real close.
Here's a clip from their book and timeline is year 2003-04:
----------------------
From the very start, Tuomas had a strong feeling that Once had to have an orchestra, come what ever may.
As we were having coffee in the studio, Pip dropped the bomb: the orchestra in question had played on The Lord of the Rings, as well as on many other Hollywood soundtracks - all recorded in this studio!"
It seems that Pip Williams wanted only the best for a band he held in great respect. "I have followed the band for some time, and it's been interesting to see how they have developed. Of course Rock bands like Deep Purple have previously used orchestras, but I really feel that Nightwish have combined the best of both worlds most successfully. They are a classic Metal band with strong classical and movie-score influences in their music."
"It was important for me that it would not be just about over-dubbing a few orchestral parts on top of a Rock band", Williams continues. And Tarja's (1st lead singer) wonderful voice has done the songs great justice."
Williams knew his orchestra well. These guys have done many, many big movie scores, as have the wonderful Metro Voices choir, and I thought this project required the kind of grandiose performance one would find on movie soundtracks by, say, Howard Shore."
Tuomas could not have been more excited about the situation. That, as well as 'Dark Chest of Wonders', were the first ones we recorded."
Williams was equally happy with his orchestra. But the groundwork paid off, as only a few small alterations were necessary."
Tuomas and Pip Williams immediately hit it off on a personal level. I would also love to collaborate with him on a movie score at some point."
"Many times the players would come into the control room afterwards to listen to the takes, and according to Pip, that's something that doesn't happen very often," Tuomas says. "They're usually not that interested - they just do their job and leave, but now they actually listened to the songs. At the end of the last day, as I went down to thank the orchestra, they started applauding, standing up from their seats. It was one of those great moments in life."
According to Williams, a Pop or Rock artist rarely receives a standing ovation. I'm very satisfied with my own reward for the arrangements, too."
"There is alwas a degree of compromise when mixing a Metal band with a large orchestra, as it's such a huge sound, but all in all, I'm really pleased with the end result", Pip reflects. "The main thing is that we have established a great identity with Nightwish and the orchestra, and our cooperation could be even better in the future. Seriously, Once is one of the most enjoyable projects in my career, and I've done this for 35 years!"
Just an extra detail. It was the London philharmonic orchestra, no less.
Oh how I love seeing the joy in your face while watching Nightwish. They really do have that effect on people and that makes them special.
And if you liked the opener you just have to watch the closer that’s called Last Ride Of the Day.
The pyo guys really outdid themselves on that one! 👍🏻🤘
It never gets old! I've seen this video a hundred times, even have it for my ringtone! Nightwish army Arkansas div. reporting.
Did you notice there were girls in the crowd sitting on people's shoulders. There is one girl who seems to be up there for the whole concert as you see her in every track. I got to give kudos to whoever she is sitting on, strength and stamina, fantastic.
And I love how she’s so into it! Every time she’s on camera she’s singing her heart out. I bet she couldn’t speak properly for a week. 😂🤘
Love the way Marko and Emppu cross over, then Floor walks out on stage!
This NW music is a world wide understanding we all share deep in our soul, not only because it´s music, but because it´s genius music,
with deep wise lyrics, presented by a genius composer Tuomas, fronted by a genius lady, and super super talented musicians.
The opener of Wacken 2013!!
LET'S GO!!! 🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥
Floor and Simon Simons (Epica lead singer) singing Stabat Mater Dolorosa at the Epica Retrospect 10th Anniversary Live Concert,
Floor on the 2019 Beste Zangers Tv series singing The Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and many others.
Marco ,Troy, Toumas and Kai Hato all have their own side projects and make for great watching.
This is how you really open a concert
But I have one wish, please have a look at the closing number "Last Ride OF The Day" from the concert in Wacken 2013. The pyro show alone will blow you out of your shoes.
that's how you start a epic performance...full throttle and don't look back....awesome concert..
I concur!
Very strong argument indeed. I concur!
This is a great start to a fantastic concert, but personally I feel that their opening at Wembley in 2015, "Shudder before the beautiful" is the best opener to any show I've seen.
I love your style, sister. I'm always happy watching people feel the joy and excitement of watching/listening to Nightwish =)
UK Army popping in for a beer and a peek in to the dark chest.
Awesome!🤘
Hello again, Ginx. Now that is how you open a show. Fun indeed. This was another great reaction. Every song in this concert was spectacular... and they have done many more legendary shows since. Loved your reaction. Thank you.
You watch Floor, the same way I watch her.... total awe and wonder!
Wacken 2013. Best concert, best band members, best songs, best looking Floor (no tattoos).
Another soul reaped by our Valkyrie Queen. Love your reaction. Liked and subbed.
You should also watch their banger opener "Shudder Before The Beautiful' from their Wembley 2015 show
It is definitely on the list!🙂
This whole Wacken concert is an experience but maybe listen to the closing number, Last Ride Of The Day, to realise that there was no drop in energy during the complete show. Of course any song is great the penultimate is one of my favourites, Song Of Myself.
Treat yourself to watching on an HDTV and in a darkened room with sound reactive LED lighting. Watching the Wacken 2013 Blu-ray/YT vids makes me want to upgrade the 42" to a 55-60" HDTV. 🙂
Dark Chest of Wonders with Floor vocals is my top 3 Nightwish Songs.
1 Dark Chest of Wonders
2 Shoemaker
3 Shudder Before the Beautiful.
Another great opening is from Wembley 2015 ‘Shudder before the beautiful ‘

Most commanding presence since Elvis , he had his Dance, she has the Floordance .
Thank you and I am glad you loved it.
(I nedded my daily-nw-Song 😉)
Greetings from NW-Army-Germany and SabatonFan
I am pretty sure that all front row ppl are time travellers come back to experience this gig :D
and this level of fun and excitement will continue to the whole set :)
like your reaction videos, special for Nightwish
you might like Unleash the Archers and their song Awakening, since you had so much fun with Jinjer's studio video. if you are in the mood for more harsh vocals give Arch Enemy a shot with their song Handshake with Hell. I'm sure you are getting all kinds of suggestions so I will limit myself, lol!
I'm glad you are having such a great time with this, it is amazing the amount of music I didn't know was out there before my own reactions rabbit hole and where all listening to Nightwish has taken me.
Watched your reaction twice! NW are the best in this world!
🤭😅
It was amazing song for opening that show 🙉
But in my opinion there is one even better - Shudder before the beautiful from Wembley concert 😌
Hopefully you’ll get there soon 🤞☺️
Enjoy the journey!
The shows of 2022/2023 where fantastic
The smile on your face says it all. Nightwish is good old fashioned F U N. I found them maybe 5 years ago now and they never fail to amaze me. Man, they're blast of fresh air ! ! BTW, that extra heart you feel in your chest is Marko's bass lines killin' it.
Awesome reaction, love the excitement. Doing a great job, don't you just wish it could go on and on, I do. More please 😊
Nice reaction. Just follow this concert setlist. It’s a no miss shot!!!
Inacreditável, sobre tudo demais.
Great 🏆 Now, I suggest „Everdream“ (same concert: Wacken 2013) - you mentioned the energy…. therefore you will love it…. ‼️👍
Must have been a great sound check before the show, as everything is well balanced and equalized right out of the gate!
You opened the Dark Chest Of Wonders that is Nightwish yourself, 🎶🎶
I concur what others have I love your style the fact you watch this band including Floor with such joy on your face. Keep in mind that while Floor our Valkyrie Goddess Metal Queen is wowing the audience both in person and through the video that Tuomas wrote, composed and arranged (with help from Pip Williams with the orchestrations) and lyrics (his poetry). So while Floor is singing the words are Toumas’s (Keyboards).
No puedo dejar de mirarte 💙
this song is another one that is very good at sights and sounds dynamically and musical elements and the sound of the choir and did you hear that crowd
And thats the Video i always think of, when Galadriel Actor from the triology(C. Blanchet) ask Harley Quin Actress(M. Robbie) in an Talkshow, "Does anyone like Heavy Metal Music?"

Love watching you - you are awesome!! Keep
going!!!
Its not hard to be enamoured by Floor and the band. Absolutely surgical precision at this stage of their career.
Love your reactions ! And gosh, you yourself are stunning. Just had to say it ;)
Thank you! 😊
Enjoyed watching that beautiful smile! Really shows how you enjoyed the show :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Amsterdam Here 🤘🤘
🤘
🤘🤟🫶tu si que eres heavy ❤

In how wonderful! I get so caught up in the music and just pure beauty how how it all sounds and that energy exchange that I forget to dive into and truly pay attention to the lyrics! Thank you!
@@ginxreacts As ever, you are more than welcome. A reply was unexpected and unnecessary, but very much appreciated.

Very beautiful, thank you
wait till you hear Marco sing as well. Try "High Hopes" a Pink Floyd tribute. Masters of their craft. Absolutely
Eres total 👏👏👏😘💜
I can tell you feel it Ginx! Exhilarating! The 2nd song is a big Nightwish single. "Wish I Had An Angel". Another great one.

Smiles all around! 😊
Suggestion......
Since you just did the opener, why not just continue with the whole concert and skip the ones you already did?
Love your smile btw, it's contagious. 😊
Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed.
😊❤️🤘🤘
Me encanta cuando sonries , tienes unos labios preciosos ☺️
I'm new to your channel. I feel the same way about this band as you do! Did you ever do 'Song of Myself' from the same concert?
Song of Myself Romanticide
These ochestral parts are Nightwish trademark. So much happening...
Me vuelves loco nena 🫶🩷
Still doing good reactions girl!
Miauuuuu😮 estás impresionante 👏👏👏😘
Girl you got it bad for Nightwish!! 😅. Totally understandable. Since I discovered them 6 months ago, they've actually sort of ruined other music for me now.
It's totally up to you, but since you clearly get the vibe of this concert, just a thought, but perhaps you want to do the set list in order? Next up would be Wish I Had An Angel. But really, no matter what you do, it'll be great! All the best! ❤✌️🤘
😅🤭
banger opener
Soy español, no te entiendo, espero no molestarte pero que bien te queda el negro ☺️👏👏
next hope
