Join us on a culinary adventure through San Francisco's beloved Chinatown! On this trip we hit the streets to find all things delicious. Due to COVID-19 we had to be sure to look up each restaurant in advance to be sure of their hours since most restaurants are only open for to-go and everything seemed to shut promptly at 5 pm. On the bright side this made everything street food! From dumplings, to buns to salt and pepper fried squid - we enjoyed some amazing food!

Also, some cultures may appear "less nice" to you, but in reality, it's normal behavior for them if they are not "American". Saying someone wasn't nice is relative, the more important question is were they. mean to you. They might not have appreciated you filming without permission and if they're not good with English or if they are women and especially not white American, of course they're not going to say anything to you but they might be offended that you filmed without asking if that's what you did.
My mom welcomed the owners of Good Mong Kok when they first immigrated to the US in the late 90s and helped them establish their first pop up location on Washington Street! I actually helped them paint the interior. 3 locations later, I'd say they are doing very well. :)
That is an amazing story! It's great to get a little back story. Can't say enough about hard work and dedication to their craft! Thanks for the comment, love to hear from someone close to them.
Excited to try My Cahn! Also, love to see you guys showing love to Wing Sing Dim Sum. Best lunch special in San Francisco. 3 items + rice for $6. My favorite!
Hi Levi. Thanks for checking out the video. My Cahn was so tasty! That is a deal at Wing Sing, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info!
win sing has a half cost for chow mein after 3
their hot foods very tasty and cheap my favorate place
Yum, yum, yum! I truly enjoyed revisiting Chinatown through this video and am now craving that scallion bread and those shrimp dishes. Great presentation and overview of how to safely do Chinatown in spite of the COVID restrictions. My strongest memory of being there was in 1984, our first visit there, when I brought home the cutest little, embroidered red Chinese pajamas for Shelley, who was just two years old!
Chinatown was choke full of ‘yum’ indeed. Do you have any pictures of Shelley in the embroidered PJs?
I live in Oakland and will be going to Chinatown next weekend just as a fun outing\something to do. Can’t wait to try some of these places!
So did you check out some of the spots?! How was it?
FYI, your supposed to eat the shell on the Shrimp, that's why they fry them...Good video, this made me hungry...
Im rediscovering SF during the pandemic. A whole lot easier to navigate
Hi Randy! What have been some of your favorite spots to rediscover?
Thanks guys for this video! really amazing! I can't wait to be there!!!!
Hi!! Thanks so much for watching and we're so glad you liked it. You're going to have a blast! We loved this whole area and could have stayed in Redwood City longer.
Food looks great, got me hungry. You two are good sports trying out the different foods. Thank you for your video.
Thank you so much for watching 🙏🏻 we don’t mind eating good food for you 😂
wow I'm visiting Chinatown today for the first time and I didn't know it was such a food paradise! Everything looks amazing 😍
It is such a fun area to explore if you are a food lover! How was you day in Chinatown? Did you try some delicious things?
@@JustAdrift yes! a lot of shops were closed but I was able to eat delicious food 😁 I'm looking forward to return someday. Greetings from Mexico.💚
Hey Rox! Glad you got some great food. We are hoping to travel to Mexico sometime next year. Can’t wait! What is your favorite city or region in Mexico?
@@JustAdrift 😁 have you been to Mexico before?
You should visit Oaxaca (where I live) great food, amazing places, architecture and beaches 👌
Liked and subscribed:We are headed down there soon. We are going to add the Banh Xeo to our list. Great food video
Hey! You guys have an epic name. Thanks for checking out our video and subscribing!
@@JustAdrift Glad you like...although it's changing soon 😂😂😂
Great video, first time watching and loved it. 1 suggestion if I may. Good idea to list the restaurants in this video. I had to scroll back a few times to catch all the great restaurants you mentioned.
Hi Manuel. Thanks for the suggestion and you make a great point. We put the names of the restaurants in the description but I realize people don't check that often. Thanks for the feed back. Have a good one!
that bakery has the dim sum in the world well at least san Francisco
Piping Banh Xeo wrapped in large raw Chinese mustard green leaves dipped in fresh Nuoc Mam will knock your socks off.
Couldn't agree more . . .
Enjoy & stay safely...
Thanks!
We can tell you guys like seafood! lol
It comes through, huh?! Yeah, we typically stick to seafood so by the time we reached the coast, we were ready for some ‘fresh of the boat’ goodness. Thanks for watching!
It's OK to eat the shrimp shell and all and the head full of goodness my goodness.
Should of known that. Thanks for the comment!
😇.. .
name of the background music please
Hi 👋 Ramrai…. We get all of our music from Epidemic Sound. For this video I was able to track down all but one track: T1: Eastern Shades - Matt Large //
T2: Cashmere - Dylan Sitts //
T3: ? //
T4: I'll Treat You Right - Matt Large //
So glad you liked it and thanks so much for watching!! 🙌
No dip for the dumpling?
I knew I was missing something!
SUBBED & LIKED your video, love to share fun to each others more ofen!!!
Hi Shane! Your channel looks great. I'll have to check out more of your fishing videos!!!
Try these places, and after stay for all the crime. San Francisco crime of tourists is so out of hand, that i would never go here to eat at one of these places no matter how good they are. Till the cops start doing their job, and crime comes down good luck on people coming there.
Hi Tony, thanks for the comment. In the time that we were there, we did not feel unsafe at all. We loved the vibe of Chinatown. We walked around for hours with our camera and mic out at all times and never had anyone pay us any attention. I would encourage anyone to go because the food is so incredible and diverse. But as always, dress modestly and always be aware of your surroundings.
@@JustAdrift Can I ask you one thing? You said you felt safe, but at the end of your statement you said "dress modestly" . Why would you have to not ware something nice when your on vacation? Is it that I have to dress like a man who hasn't work hard for what he has. Is pretending to be a bum the only way to feel safe? There are numerous examples of how bad crime is their from the news to the signs that they post saying you can't have stuff, not just nice things, but anything in your car or it will get it broken into. Their is a crime tracker on one of your local news sites to track how bad it is. The other problem is that the police do nothing about it. I was on mission st. and last year it was reported over 300 break ins have happen on this street alone, the police had caught 2 people in that year. Both walk away with misdormeanors. Chinatown is in the top 3 worst areas for tourists. Be ware. I am happy that you had a fun and safe time. But you are one of the lucky ones. On my plane home 3 other people had crimes committed against them also of the same fashion. Thank you for your time.
Interesting why suggest going to a Vietnamese restaurant while in Chinatown? Very odd to me.
We were more into eating good food in the neighborhood- it isn’t subject to only being one type of food 🍲 thanks for watching
@@JustAdrift I understand and Chinatown SF has diversified by still looking for Chinese restaurants
To avoid covid and bacteria on your hands while eating, you guys should use gloves.
That's a really good point.
Is this a homage to SF’s homeless population?
Hi 1desiloader. This video is not a homage to SF's homeless population. Thanks for asking though, and thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe.
Gentrification.
Expand on that thought, please. Has it changed significantly recently?
