The writing was never particularly good nor did it have solid plots. It's been riddled with plot holes and retcons since the beginning. It's just everyone was still a babby when watching these films growing up with multiple years between films, so they missed those issues. Now that they are old enough to see the issues in the newer films, they think it's a problem with modernity while their nostalgia covers up the problems of the past. For people that are newer to the franchise and watched it all in quick succession (like me), it's actually about the same all the way through, and it's almost all been mostly enjoyable when taking it for what it is--films created for children and teens while trying to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. (Hint: it's not woke for corporations to try to expand their market demographics by including more races in their films)

I agree that it is not necessarily woke. I also think that people don't mind the more races aspect. I think it is more that rather than creating and promoting characters of different races, they (in the comics and later on the big screen) made characters that were the daughter of or race/gender swapped versions of and then used the original version to get them over.
if you play on nostalgia, then change things to get expand your market demographics, then you shouldn't be surprised if you lose your nostalgia market as it resembles less and less what they were nostalgic for.
it's not wrong to try and make that play, but if you try and are not skillful at it, you will destroy the value of whatever franchise you are using to do it.

The saddest thing is that they could have kept that momentum going post Endgame had they bothered to summon the foresight that got them there in the first place. Had they immediately brought in Dr. Doom, fans would have been blasted with the "what could be" of it all. They even had a great hook to bring in Mutants post Endgame. The Blip could have caused mutations in some of the people who returned from the void. Dr. Doom could have been the overarching big bad. The Fantastic Four would have been a great hook to hang all this off of as well. And bringing them into the then current slate would have been easy. Mr Fantastic's experiment that mutated the Four had them stuck in some time-loop, so we could get a 60's period piece for act 1 where we introduce them and their dynamic then have them pop out of the loop in Modern Marvel MCU just as the Blip brings back 4 billion people. The potential is mind boggling and rivaled only by how it was squandered.
Instead... we got KANG. The most milktoast of all the Avengers level threats possible. I never liked KANG even in the comics, so it was almost impossible to get excited for what could be when they brought him in and what they did do with KANG was equally disappointing. We'd also be hearing more about them randomly. SHIELD would be investigating weird occurrences as 084s. There's no way every single mutant was detected and covered up. For the OG X-Men to be a thing any time soon, mutants have to have been appearing for at least 3 generations. Professor Xavier would be Gen X at the earliest, and the X-Men would be Gen Z.

One of the biggest problems with the world today is that no corporation understands the concept of enough. They never know when to end anything, because they can't understand why they would ever need to plan for that event. They believe that they can actually make one thing forever and have it work every time. But it never does, because they always end up replacing their actual talent with much cheaper and less capable people over time. Then they can't figure out why its not selling anymore.
They do everything in the most unsustainable way they can, yet they always act like it will be infinitely sustainable. Instead of carefully nurturing their IPs so they can grow big and strong over time, they simply burn them all down for a much quicker payout. Y'know, when discussing things like "Immersion" in books and movies, the topic often gets scoffed at. Another content creator I listen to (Shady Doorags) once said "When you do X/Y, you are REMINDING me that this PIECE OF FICTION is FICTIONAL."
This philosophy applies to so much that Disney does nowadays that it isn't even funny, and sure, you will get the smug contrarians acting like immersion doesn't have to matter for a movie to be enjoyable... But that's what a LOT of people want when they go into these movies and nowadays they can't make it five minutes into the film before one of these "Reminders" crops up.
    Want a good example?
Quantumania. Third Ant Man film, basically shoehorned into being an Ant Man film, and we're barely in and OH, LOOK ANOTHER YOUNG TEENAGE GIRL WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A SUPER GENIUS WHO IS OUTWITTING THEIR FATHER AND CRACKING SNARKY RESPONSES. Sure would be a shame if this single character was written in the most DISTRACTINGLY "FLAWLESS" THEY ARE like a friggin' know-it-all walking conveniently into the plot to rectify artificial sometimes character breaking limitations that the main character, usually a guy, has.. Oh, and what's this in both of the awful Black Panther films? Super genius young woman. Hawkeye? Snarky know-it-all girl. Loki? Snarky know-it-all girl. Moonknight? Snarky know-it-all girl. Think this is limited to just heroes? Wrong. Taskmaster is a woman now. "The Force is Female". Captain Marvel is the "strongest" Avenger, full stop, no discussion to be had there. Dr. Strange 2, a movie that was supposed to be about DOCTOR STRANGE is actually about America Chavez.
Who is America Chavez? Well, she is one of the many unproven character written during the Twitter Saga of Marvel where they just hired a bunch of fanfic authors off of Twitter and Tumblr to make comics for them because "INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY GUYS" and never actually saw any success so they just kept renewing her series and trying to rewrite her in a way that sold copies to NO AVAIL... So basically, she is a reject; a bad author's sloppy seconds. However, for Dr. Strange 2, they decided to MAKE HER the most important character in the entire plot, something they did by fundamentally changing her entire character (again) just so they could; they LITERALLY used her as a blank canvas and yet somehow her powers suck, her backstory sucks and was a slapdash way to write in lesbian moms and the plot hinges on her getting scared by a BEE, and then because her powers were rewritten so that they would play importance to this plot she never belonged in, she is now the sole thing Wanda wants to get her hands on just so she can open gateways to alternate realities. America Chavez; the boss b**** and a half who is a manifestation, a MANIFESTATION of Disney's pandering, and the only character she has is, "I am scurred of my powers". That's it. She has like ONE line at the beginning where they are talking to Strange in a diner and THAT IS IT. It's the ONLY time she actually emotes in the film and feels like a person.
And this is the character taking priority over Strange.. the guy the movie is NAMED after. How is that NOT distracting?
They reminded me that this piece of fiction is FICTIONAL. They reminded me that some characters were literally only written in for the sake of it and have no purpose to the plot outside of being a lazily constructed mcguffin for other characters to chase around. Same applies to She Hulk and her fourth wall breaks that all take the p*** out of either men or the fans. Same applies to Falcon and the Winter Soldier where BUCKY is sidelined in favor of Falcon; work associate to Steve versus Steve's lifelong friend... Gonna go with the black guy he's known and worked with for a fraction of the time of course! Or how about Ms. Marvel; the show no one watched with the character no one cared for because everyone took ONE look at her and knew off the bat that she was "Pandering: The Character".
Disney has gotten SO GOOD at killing immersion that they can do it to their own audience before they have even watched a minute of their show... And the best part? They CONDITIONED us to be this way. It was a slow burn, but we've finally reached a point where people can tell they won't be able to get invested in a TV Show just from seeing a screenshot.
Remember watching the first Iron Man or Avengers for the first time and being absolutely enraptured in the story? Remember when you just cared to see how Tony would escape the cave or how the team would take on Loki's arm? When was the last time you felt that?
    Exactly.
You haven't in a long while and can't with any of these newer shows; they were written with "Modern Day Politics" in mind and it is visible from every direction; you CAN'T get immersed.

I remember waaaay back when they first started teasing Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, I thought they would use the multiverse to reboot the actors playing the principle heroes. The biggest drawback to continuing an ongoing series of movies is that the actors inevitably age out of their roles (see Indiana Jones). Second she simply deserved a better film than the slapped together afterthought we got.
Of course currently I'm of the mind that the writers working for Marvel now couldn't, or because of mandates from the higher ups were incapable of doing a better screenplay and we're not going to see better writing even if by some miracle that got all the legacy actors to come back for one final film.

Where I disagree is the success of the first three phases of the MCU was built upon good, street level, individual stories that only hinted at the overall story arc of Thanos. There wasn't huge world/universe ending plots, just good character developing stories like "Iron Man", "Thor", "Captain America: The First Avenger", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Guardians of the Galaxy", etc. and then building toward the final climax of "Infinity War" ("End Game" sucked). If something is well-written, and helmed by people with passion, it _can_ survive long-term even in the same genre. As an example, we can look at the _Mobile Suit Gundam_ franchise. Every few years, there's generally a new series, and that series brings new mobile suit designs that are highly toyetic, and can also be made into plamo. But not every series in the franchise has equal weight. Some of them are continuations of the main UC storyline, but more of them take place in alternate timelines. They either tell different stories, or retell the original story with updated animation, and a shifted focus in themes. Then there's the _Build_ end of the franchise, which is basically series-long commercials for gunpla, with story wrapped around them (the quality varies, but they're also full of references because the other series exist as TV shows). Yes, there have been years without a new _Gundam_ series, so it has been on-and-off as far as production goes, and it's not popular everywhere, but all things considered, a franchise that has been around since 1979 has a pretty good running track. It really shows what other franchises like _Star Wars_ could have been. Ironic considering there're a lot of ways _Gundam_ was inspired by _Star Wars_ .

I wasn't even that keen on Destiny until they brought back Kira, Lacus and the Archangel and it's crew at about 1/3 way into the series.
And to really drive up the blood pressure, I sort of liked G Saviour.....😊

Personally, I agree that the MCU can go beyond Endgame and touch more in the comics to the big screen but 'Storytelling' is the key to making it work. However, good and compelling storytelling have been sidelined for 'Political Agendas and Woke Messages' and it's killing the chances of giving us the customers that could have been and how it should be.
Reboooting it in any shape or form sounds like their trying to erase their own mistakes rather than learning from them and making something better out them.
I guess it true to what they say: 'Nothing last forever'.

I suggest something that I also have thought the comics should do as well. Separate the universe a bit. Give the characters their own corners to have individual stories, maybe on or two guest stars. Focus on the movie you're making, not the next crossover. The first two Captain America movies felt different than the Iron Man movies and the Thor movies. The Winter Soldier was practically a spy thriller.
They even hedged their bets by NOT having each movie's Macguffin be just explicitly be an Infinity Stone. They could have pulled back from the major arc if necessary.

If Endgame had been treated as the hard stop it should've been, they probably could've gotten away with a soft reboot of sorts to starts things over provided that it followed a cooling off period of at least five years, preferably ten. But their insistence on beating this dead horse means that they'll need to wait a MINIMUM of ten years for Marvel to have any hope for a revival.

I think one of the biggest problems is the sole focus of "Marvel Studios." Back when the MCU was produced by Paramount, the Marvel movies were just one of a large lineup of diversified titles. The studio could put money into an Iron Man, and then fund a Spielberg movie, then do an independent film, and then get around to Thor 2 or something. The fact that all Marvel Studios does is make Marvel movies is a HUGE hindrance that's become painfully obvious at this point.
